My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you love something let it go, if it comes back it’s yours. Well a pact saying you’ll get married at 40 if you’re both still single works too. A Toast for Laurent is a sweet/spicy second chance romance. Of course it doesn’t come without sorrow and heartache. The author definitely pulls at the reader’s heartstrings with this book.
When Laurent and Phoebe made their marriage pact 18 years ago, Laurent never expected Phoebe was going to run away from his life. Now she’s back and they are both playing with fire. Laurent wants to help her but at what costs. Laurent is driven by his heart. While Phoebe is driven by fear. That’s a lethal combination, being it never leads to anything good.
Will Laurent be able to honor the marriage pact?
What will his family think?
The author navigates this second chance romance beautifully. Also makes you feel for the characters. I understand Phoebe’s fears, but I feel a kinship with Laurent and what he’s going through.
I look forward to reading other books by this author in the future.
