Liz’s Road Trip by Bernadette Marie- 4 out of 5 stars
First book I have read from this author. I found the book to be really sweet and entertaining. The characters and their personalities were well developed but at times I struggled to get past some parts. The book follows Liz as she discovers her grandmother’s hidden life after she passed away. All in all it was an easy read.

As annoying as it can be to be mistaken for his Mom and to have to give up the summer before her senior year, Claire loves Harry and will protect their bond at all costs. Her mom is just not acting like she should and hasn’t ever since she had Harry. But it could be mostly because her brother Pat, is evil. Hoping that the new guy in school, Chad and her best friend, Mads, don’t make her pick between them Claire is really trying to find her way and help her family. She has enough going on and really needs good supportive friends.
This book is definitely a “hold your attention, page turner” as you become invested in Claire’s story. You can’t help but become one of her cheerleaders through all the things being thrown her direction.

Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland is the third book in the Astoria Royals Series. I have not read the others and found that I could read this as a standalone. This Mafia romance has it all from the drama, violence, stream, Emotion, forced marriage, and mafia politics. Priscilla and Riordan are the two main characters In this story, and have a small history, Priscilla when she was younger tried to kiss Riordan and she rejected her out of the fear of her father, and now they are face to face again. She MUST marry him or she will blow her cover! These two have steam, passion, and emotion within them that you will NOT want to put the book down. Deborah Garland is a new author for me and let me tell ya, I want to read more and more. The book grabbed me and didn’t want to let go. Her writing style and they way she has created this amazing world of Astoria Royals, is simply amazing. I wanted to stay lost in the world of Priscilla and Riordan!!!!

Angelica Reece was a nerdy kid and at high school was never really in the popular group, although with a crush on the hottest boy in school who would never look at her one day that all changed. Angelica was asked to met Chase in the library and when she arrived, he stood there just as handsome as ever, but what happened after cemented itself in Angie’s head forever and has she really got over it all these years later.
Chase Thorne is back from his military service not quite sure where his place is but working on his family’s ranch is a good start, but when he goes to pick his nephew from school and see Miss Reece his teacher Chase is smitten and needs to get to know this woman better. As time goes on Chase starts flirting and every turn he is knocked down and dismissed, this has never happened to Chase, he has always had his pick of girls, but Angie is different and although deep down he has a feeling he knows her she is not giving anything away.
As Chase pursues Angie, the more Angie is grinding down until her best friends says why not go for the crush you had at school, so Angie throws caution to the wind and takes the leap into a relationship with Chase. Will he remember her from school and the humiliation her caused her or can Angie overcome it and find happiness?
I love this authors books and this one does not disappoint; the main and secondary character are always rich and enhance the story as it goes along. I loved the character of Angie who was so confident as she grown older but still had that fear from her childhood of rejection and then the utter understanding of Chase that if something is worth having it needs to be nurtured and grown not automatically expected. Overall, this was a fast-paced story with a lovely feel good factor and can’t wait to read more.

As they have this incredible day and night they both give into the attraction that has been there for years, but when her father comes back and understands she has spent time with his employer’s older son, Ava’s father takes steps to separate them, but as Ava tells Matthias’s brother to give him a message she leaves. Mattias is heartbroken that she left without saying a word after the amazing time they spent together, so decides, to join the family business but in London away from the memories of his sweet Ava.
Five years later, Matthias’s father is dying, and all brothers arrive back to be at his bedside but when he sees the one person who broke him, he becomes angry and throws her out of the house and his life. Although he is heartbroken, he still loves her, but can he show that to her or will the bitter man he has become win over.
I have to say I have not read anything by this author before and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters were well developed and complimented each other brilliantly, the angst and forbidden love aspect was a great tug of war between the two of them and with the twist in the middle added to the whole drama of the story.
I did find at the beginning it a bit slow but as the story progressed you got to understand the dynamic of all the characters and brothers, although the shock at the end hit hard. I am glad in the end it became a happy ever after and that despite the battles of mistrust and deception.
I can wait to delve into the catalogue of this order and read more.

A Rainbow Like You by Andréa Fehsenfeld is the first book that I have read by this author, so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But the title alone intrigued me enough to want to find out what was between the covers, so I snapped up a copy and set off to explore. What I discovered is a wonderfully layered and emotional contemporary fiction story with a unique identity that sets it apart from many of its kind. With a struggling rock star MC, you could be forgiven for thinking this is the usual rockstar romantic story that seems to have flooded the market of late- but you would be mistaken. This story stands alone, with an heartachingly ‘different’ story to tell. Full of struggles and challenges, heartache, love, loss, drama, fate, tension, music, and more- this is more of a deep and meaningful character study. Ms. Fehsenfeld has a smooth and lyrical style to her writing that easily coaxed me into the story and held my attention the whole way through. Her characters are really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They definitely brought the story to ‘life’ and made it all the more realistic and believable. They were easy to connect with and become invested in- which made my reading experience all the more enjoyable. This may have been my first book by Ms. Fehsenfeld, but it definitely won’t be the last. Looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us next. Happy Reading…

Dead Keen is the second book in the Things Unseen series by Anise Eden. It is a brilliant psychological thriller with romantic suspense elements, medical mystery, action, adventure, tension, intrigue, gripping edge of seat developments, drama, emotion, plots, hidden agendas, and palpable tension. After reading the first book and loving it as much as I did, I had quite high expectations for this second instalment. I am happy to say that Ms. Eden didn’t disappoint, and this is every bit as good as the first, if not better. We met Psychotherapist Neve Keane back in book one and now join her and her boyfriend Doctor Con O’Brien on a trip to Ireland to help Con’s family. What happens once they get there makes for some intense reading that had me flipping the pages, reading as fast as I could, because I needed to know how everything would play out in the end. Add in a medical mystery, a demented cult leader, old gods, and a videogame company, and the story really takes off. I lost all sense of time and place as I followed along on the adventure, staying up into the wee hours because I couldn’t put it down until I had read every word. To me, that is a sign of a great book. This could be read as a standalone if you wanted, without feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything- but having said that, I highly recommend reading the first book, as there are important character details, backstory and other pertinent information that will enhance your reading experience of this book. I can’t wait to see what happens in Book #3! Happy reading!

This was a good, contemporary romance and part of The Studs of Clear Creek County series and can be read as a standalone or read in order. Fisher and Billie Jean’s story gave me angst, fight for equality, romance, forbidden love and drama.
Fisher Hines comes from a wealthy family and overseeing the employees at Locke Farm as a supervisor. Fisher wants to make his family proud, especially coming from the society their circle is in. Expectation of meeting the high standards of his family, Fisher never expected to fall for Billie Jean, especially when their worlds are totally different.
Billie Jean is visiting family in Clear Creek County and never expected to take to Fisher Hines the way she did. When Billie Jean finds that Fisher works for Locke Farm, she tries to stay away as she feels that her people are mistreated in ways that are hard to speak about. As Billie Jean’s barrier and reluctance fades, she finds herself falling for Fisher. What happens when Billie Jean wages war against Locke Farm even against Fisher’s wishes and warnings?
This is a good story and the author does a very good job when it comes to tackling hard issues. I would have loved to have more of Billie Jean and Fisher’s story develop. Overall good story and I always look forward to this author’s books.

Book 2 is even better than the first book. Tamaska is determined to get the blood opal at any cost, but she may have bitten off more than she can chew. This was a great 5 star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning. I really liked both Katelyn and Grant, they had my emotions all over the place with their story. Katelyn helps horses, when she is contacted to come and help Grant’s horse after an accident, she also finds herself helping Grant. Grant was very difficult and stubborn with Katelyn. As we learn more about Grant’s history my heart broke for him. Will Katelyn be able to fix this broken man?
Overall I really enjoyed this story. We get alternating POV, which I love because then you get to see what each of them are thinking. The author does a great job with her writing, I felt like I was right in the story with the characters. I can’t wait to read more from this author and the next book in this series. This was a marvelous contemporary romance book, and I am extremely excited for the next in the series! I loved Ali and Joe because their chemistry was palpable, and they were so adorable. I felt like all of the characters were incredibly relatable which made the story much more real to me. The flow of the story was a little bumpy sometimes, so I got pulled out of my groove a bit, but it was pretty minor. I don’t want to give away anything because it caught me off guard a couple times which is always so enjoyable for me! I am looking forward to the second book because I need to have more of this author’s writing in my life. I highly recommend picking this up and going on an adventure in the stormy, isolated cabin!

After the first book of the Protector Wolf Shifter series, ‘Shadow Wolf’, ended on a cliffhanger, I could not wait to continue the series. That being said, this book is set immediately after the first book so you should read it first if you haven’t already.
Tamaska is in shock. The man she has been sleeping with and developing feelings for is one of her biggest fears. A dog. First vampires and now this? She can barely cope and ends up rejecting Kodiak, walking away from him. She is still determined to find the Blood Opal if it’s the last thing she does. Stupidly, she walks straight into a vampire lair thinking she is safe since it is daytime.
Meanwhile, Kodiak, heartbroken from her rejection realizes that she just had the rug pulled from under her and may need some time to get used to things. He is not going to leave her in the hands of the vampires who seem to want her for some reason. Luckily he decides to make sure she is safe and follows her into the lair.
Kodiak ends up killing more vampires which basically means war for the wolf shifters. The vampires have the blood opal and they still want Tamaska. Kodiak and his team need to figure out why before it is too late for all of them. All while fighting the inevitable bond to this human woman who fears him.
Tamaska has to learn to trust Kodiak if she wants to survive this. She will have to come to terms with her fear of dogs if they are going to have a future.
This book was a great continuation of the series. The chemistry between the couple is as strong as ever even though they are both trying to fight it. The book starts off with a bang and hardly slows down making it binge worthy. The author does a great job describing feelings and body language, adding some steamy scenes that aren’t vulgar all while maintaining a high amount of action! I highly recommend this series! So far I am loving it!

Another great read by Anise Eden!! I don’t want to say much about this one in case you haven’t read the first book yet. It would be super helpful to read it first to get the background on Con and Neve.
Con is finally getting to go home to Ireland after being away for five years. It will be a difficult journey home but he has Neve at his side. Con’s purpose in going back to Ireland is to help his brother out with a potential life altering medical issue. At the same time, he will have to deal with his parents and their psychosocial issues within the family.
Neve has resources that can help Con out but at what price? Can they make a difference in the lives of those at stake?

A social worker is stabbed while on duty at the hospital and is coming back for her first day of work. No one thinks she’s ready but Neve has had it with sitting at home and playing Scrabble all day. As soon as she walks into her unit, mass chaos starts taking place and Neve is shaken to her core. Maybe she should go home?
Amos is in the ER…again. Dr. Con is prepared to see him for his endocrine issues and Neve is ready to help him with restarting the program that they came up with that was supposedly successful. Amos admits to Neve that he’s the leader of the group that surrounded her a few hours earlier and all of a sudden, everything changes again. Amos begs Neve to read his book and then come back and talk to him. However, Amos ends up having a medical emergency and isn’t able to have visitors for awhile.
I’ll stop there because I don’t want to give anything about this book away. It’s gonna grip you in the first page and have you holding on until the end. There is a little bit of romance, but it’s all very classy. There’s mention of angels being seen. There’s a lot of suspense and tense moments to keep you on the edge of your seat.

I am a well read reader and love when I find new words, and A Rainbow Like You Didn’t disappoint- I learned the words largesse and metier.
Now on to the actual story…. my favorite part of the book was the banter and relationship between Adrian and Hastings, and how they grow as people throughout the story. Not being into bands and music, I appreciated the inside look of being in a rock band. Even the secondary characters stood out (in a good way) by having personalities and not just flat personas. This was my first book by Andrea and hopefully won’t be my last.

A great story for young children to learn how to redirect their fears or nervousness. Lily usually has Hun Bun, her stuffed rabbit friend she’s had all her life. When she forgets Hun Bun at home one day, she is scared and wants to go home. But the lovely nurse at school teaches Lilly a breathing technique to change what your mind is thinking. It’s a very nice book and gives suggestions for keeping yourself from getting that nervous tummy ache when things don’t go as planned. I think it would be helpful for kids of any age but especially kids in elementary to read.
The Magic Carousel (The Brass Ring Series Book 1) by K.L. Small. This is the perfect read for a middle school boy or girl. I think boys will relate better because the main character is a boy. I really enjoyed it as a older woman. Its about Russell who is in 5th grade and dreams of being a firefighter but is scared he’s not brave enough. He is bullied at school by one of his former friends and his dad is a raging alcoholic. When his eccentric grandfather has to be walked to the park everyday its Russell’s job. When his grandfather wants to ride the Carousel everyday its embarrassing. When his grandfather convinces him he has a secret ring that will get them to the past with horses and adventure Russell ends up riding the Carousel too. What ensues it all kinds of fun and adventures. This story is so good and it has the lesson that you can be anything you want as long as you try and believe in yourself!

Listen, although I may not be a country music fan, I really enjoyed this story. It is the first in a series. We have Joe who is under some very strict doctor’s orders and Ali who has come to Joe in search of shelter from a storm. When I was a little girl, I had a blankie that I took around with me. So did my youngest son. Lilly has a bunny. These are soothing items that have special powers to help us when we are anxious or scared. Lilly accidently forgets her bunny and when she gets to school she is full of anxiety. The school nurse helps her to learn some techniques she can use when she feels anxious. The story explains where the anxious feelings come from. This would be a great book to get if your child is anxious and needs to understand where those feelings come from.

This book title literally is the type of genres that I love to read. It exceeded ALLLLLLL of my expectations and more! The way this was written had me captivated and thinking about it and nothing else! The chemistry between these characters was OFF the charts! What an amazing story! I love Bernadette! I’ve only read one of her other books but I loved it! So I just knew that this book was going to be great and it was! Wonderful characters and I can totally see this being made into a movie! So so good. Author had a great way writing about all the steps of grief and I just loved this book so much. I would give it 10 stars if I could! Such a comforting book!

I have read numerous books from this author and absolutely LOVE her work! I could not put this book down! The first thing that drew me into this book was the synopsis! I was enthralled and loved loved loved this book. I cannot wait to read more of the books in this series. I have to know what continues for not only the characters but the supporting characters as well! You will not be disappointed, this book was amazing! It will be added to my list of ones to reread when I am in a book drought.

Lois Wickstrom tells a great children’s story. This time is no different. It isn’t my favorite by her but still a great story! I can’t wait to read this story to my nieces and nephews. I know they will love it just as well. Who doesn’t want to be from outer space at that age?

Great continuation of the series, I am so hooked. This book had me hooked from the first page and kept me fully engrossed throughout the entire time reading it. There’s so much emotion and some unexpected plot twists, some I didn’t see coming. This was so good; I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series and from this author!

I’ve always had an interest in Tarot and when I first got into readings, I had heard so many different things, I wish I had a book like this to read first. I found the author’s perspective refreshing, and I found it interesting to compare my own experiences with theirs. Even reading this after having my own experiences and forming my own views, I still found this incredibly insightful and useful. The poetry was brilliant – a poem for each card in the deck (78). It fits so well and I thought it was a touch of brilliance.
I’ve previously read another book by this author which I absolutely loved and shaped much of my recent views on magical living so I knew this would be the book for me. I love the author’s perspectives and openness to differences. This book cements that I will continue to love them and seek out their writings.

This book has so much going on, it is spread apart very well but it took quite a bit for me to get into it. The story follows Gabby and her self discovery. She is trying to find out what to do with her life and what to do now that everything has changed. This was my first book by DonnaLee and I would try to read a few others.

As ever, Maria DeBlassie has crafted exquisitely simple magic. As much as I wish I had this insight when I 1st discovered Tarot , finding it at this time in my life now has been a delightful synchronisity . For me, the only thing missing is that there isn’t an upright AND reversed meeting with all the cards, but I do understand why. The wisdom in these words resonates deeply, & I recognized my own connection to Tarot in this book. There was so much of myself & my connection that I felt conflicted about, & reading this soothed my soul. Acceptance radiates from the pages & encourages you to embrace your own journey with an open heart. The writing is lovely & I wish more people spoke this way tbh. Strong in her gentleness, powerful in her wisdom, & magical in her existence, Maria DeBlassie is a true gem. Encountering her is the universe giving you a gift.

This is so far from your typical rock romance and it gives the book a refreshing an unique feel to it. I loved the introduction of Hastings and her ‘quirks’. It is great to see a character portrayed as she has been. It created a much more inclusive feel to the book that I never really considered to be missing in other books of this genre before. This is the first book that I had read by this author and I loved the way it was written. You connect easily with the characters and want them to do well. They are exactly what the other needs and yet they have a complicated path set out. This was a great book and I can’t wait to discover more from this author.

This book is the second in the series. I would highly recommend reading them in order as this book picks up right from where the first book ends. I thought this one was just as good, if not better, than the first. I was able to get straight back into the story and the characters. I really enjoy Kodiak and Tamaska. Their connection is so strong, you just know they have to find a way to make things work. The adventure continues throughout this book and it is exciting to watch it unfold. The author has written another great, intriguing book. There is plenty going on to keep you interested and I, for one, am looking forward to the next book in the series.
