I borrowed this book from my library because I liked the cover, and I am so glad that I took a chance. The story has so many elements mystery, love, crime, and is just overall an excellent book. I cannot imagine finding the love of your life, and then having everything you thought be true, not be. I love the character of Owen and the sacrifice that he makes and how much he trusted Hannah from a man who probably found it very hard to trust anybody. Hannah was the epitome of a strong, caring, selfless woman, who you could feel put so much into every decision. I found myself very drawn to her and knowing, that at the end of the day, Owen made the right decision. The amount of turmoil, pain, and stress this woman must of had to endure, was more than one person should have to. I could feel her grappling with each decision, but not really grappling with each decision, because at the end of the day , she was going to do whatever was necessary even at her own demise. The young character of Bailey in many ways was like every 16-year-old girl you find yourself, shaking your head, sighing, and just accepting her for what she is, a child. However, watching how she progresses throughout the book , you find yourself wanting to wrap your arms around her and tell her everything will be OK. By the end, I think she realized how lucky she was to have someone like Hannah in her life as well as someone like Owen even though he had to make a hard decision. The final portion of the book with a last minute encounter actually brought tears to my eyes. This author did a tremendous job in every single aspect and this is exactly what I look for when I’m looking to read a great book. I can’t wait to see what else this author offers and getting my little hands on them.
