This was a beautifully written story. I was not prepared to feel the level of emotions I did when reading this book. The story of Adrian and the typical rock and roll lifestyle, all the problems that is involved with that type of lifestyle and where he finds himself now. Alone, isolated from his band mates, toxic relationship with his father and his ex and now struggling to find the creativity to write new material for the band. His life feels like its spiralling out of control and then Hasting appears hidden on his tour bus.
Hasting is 13 years old and a runaway. Adrian knows she needs to return home but when that proves no longer possible he realises he can’t leave her alone in this world.
The connection between Adrian and Hasting grows as they both let down their guards and learn to trust each other.
Hasting is synesthete which means she sees colour in music and musical notes. Could this insight be the key to unlock Adrian’s inability to write?
There is so much to this story that apart from Adrian’s and Hastings growing friendship, there is also romance for Adrian’s and a vendetta from a journalist that threatens everything Adrian’s holds dear.
This book is a gripping read that I couldn’t put down. Adrian isn’t a Saint and has made some questionable decision along the way however in his heart I believe he acted in the way he saw best at the time. The way he took Hasting in and cared for her was really heartwarming to see and it was amazing to watch their relationship grow and how they both helped each other in more ways than they even realised.
