Rocketship Made of Stars is the 2nd book in the children’s series I am an Alien. While it does follow the first book, it is cute and can be read without the previous book. Shirl has a friend who is an alien, that we met in the first book. The alien’s name is Eee-ahh, and has landed on Earth and decided to stay a while. She decides to go to school with Sherl one day, to listen to the stories. Turns out, the kids are just as interested in HER story, and she is in theirs. They learn about constellations and the different names for them. It is a cute, but educational story. My seven year old enjoyed it, but we both struggle to see pictures in the common constellations.

I loved this YA Romance story that gives me all the feels that I love about reading….. romance, drama, angst, changes, grace…this story of Mina and Wes was fantastic.

I enjoyed this book so much. The synopsis intrigued me, but I had never read this author before. I am a new fan! Julie Mercer becomes an instant mother to four year old twins when her brother and his wife die in a car accident. That, by itself, is a story. But to make things even more interesting, Julie donated her eggs for in vitro fertilization for the twins. But ultimately, all of that is just a backdrop for the story about complicated family relationships. I enjoyed Julie’s angst as a new mom, struggling to figure out how to parent, navigate child care, and the plethora of other issues facing parents today. Not only that, but there’s a bit of a love story thrown in. Great book, and I can’t wait to read more by this author!

I didn’t realize initially that this was a book in a series, Book #4 to be exact, but am happy to report that it serves well as a stand alone as well. I’m sure there would be added value to the content including background on the characters and adventures they’ve experienced together, but not having read those did not seem to detract at all to the storyline; Ms. Suen did a great job of providing just enough context without leaving a reader wondering what they’re missing. I thoroughly enjoyed Eve’s sleuth-like qualities and will most likely be downloading books 1-3 to see what I’m missing; the only thing I wish there would have been more of was the detective/dog duo- definitely would have enjoyed more from that duo, but the book was enjoyable!

I finished this book in one reading stint. The need to know what was happening next kept me fully engrossed in the story. It follows our main character Violet who has started her own security company. A protest in town is the task at hand for her company and one of the leaders of the protest just happens to be her mother. The atmosphere and tension of the story that unfolds leaves you feeling like you are in the protest. This book has both the suspense and the family drama.
A beautifully done story about an American 3rd grader and her pen pal from Ukraine. As the story unfolds war breaks out, causing concern for her pen pal. This book takes a delicate topic and shows us from the eyes of a child. We sometimes forget children see the world very differently. This is a great story to immerse your kids in different cultures and to explain our ever changing world climate

I love a good second chance romance. Was a quick and easy read and I loved the characters and story. There’s some twists and turns and I loved every bit of it. Kept my attention the entire time where I simply couldn’t put it down. Finished it in one sitting! Story simply pulled me in and I was so focused and turning the pages because I just had to know what happens next.
This is a fantastic rock and roll story. It is angsty at its best and filled with flawed well written characters. I really felt that Julie Archer thought of everything when it came to developing Jordan and Alexis. This is a second chance romance and Julie Archer did a fantastic job of portraying the baggage that comes with a second connection. The characters and their issues felt so real. I really just wanted to become a part of the story. I absolutely loved Jordan and Alexis and I definitely was sad when this story came to an end! I definitely recommend picking this one up!

This is the second book in the Trentbridge Crime Series. This definitely functions as a standalone, but there is some overlap in characters, so I do recommend reading the first one to really get a feel for all of these characters because both are such amazing books. Peter Winston-Moore is such an interesting character. He is one who really just “steps in it” big time. However, the real character I enjoyed the most is James Sheldon who works as a private investigator whose case is way more complicated than he ever would have suspected on first glance. This author does a fantastic job developing characters, but more importantly he does an absolutely amazing job developing the setting. Everything is described in such a way that you feel like you can absolutely visualize where the story is taking place. Given that this book deals with murder and a private investigator this is a talent that should not go unnoticed. As a reader you feel like you are discovering clues with James Sheldon, not just reading about James Sheldon discovering leads and clues. I really truly cannot recommend this book, and this whole series enough!

Susan Specht Oram has become one of my go to authors for thrillers. This one definitely was exactly what I love about her writing, it is entertaining, suspenseful, and full of twists and turns. The Mother’s Threat features a female main character named Violet Cleveland who was incredibly relatable. She was a woman who listened to what I call her “spidey senses”. Her parents definitely were an added part to the twists and turns in the story. They were definitely a distraction for Violet but I definitely related to her worry for them. Violet (and this whole story) was emotionally charged and I found that as a large part of what I loved about the story. It kept me reading and wondering how Violet was going to handle certain situations. There were many times where I thought I would have lost my cool only to see Violet continue to try to keep a calm head and her new business open and in tact. This book was legitimately so good and I definitely loved all the twists and turns in this story. Violet was the perfect main character and her parents were the perfect opposite to her. I definitely recommend this story for anyone who loves a good thriller or anyone who loves a good strong female lead with a complicated family.

This is a cozy mystery. Which is short and quick to read. I found it to be the perfect mystery to read one rainy night where I really just wanted to sit and read and be cuddled up with my favorite blanket, a warm drink, and a good book that I can be absorbed in until the rain stops. This story focuses on Eve who begins to wonder how Murder Creek got its name. She begins to research and finds herself deep into a 20 year old missing person case. She soon finds herself obsessed. She ends up writing a term paper on this case and decides to spend some time trying to solve a case that had been unsolved for 20 years. Eve becomes an amazing investigative journalist and begins to get the locals to warm up to her and begin talking. I truly enjoyed Eve as a character. I know I have become hyper fixated on something to the point that I can’t let it go. I feel like this is Eve with this case. But I also feel like its why some of the locals start to open up, because they can tell shes just intrigued and in college so no one really thinks she will solve anything. I definitely enjoyed this story. I thought that is was exactly as it was described – a cozy mystery. I loved it and definitely want to read more written by Jane Suen soon!

When we fell again is a second chance romance, this is the first book that I have read by this author and let me tell you it’s a wonderful read. I loved everything about this book. The Cover is beautiful, and the plot is even better. Drugs, Drama, Ex’s i loved it all. Jordan and Alexis (lex) are great to follow the character build up was great. Lex is in a hard spot love him again will Jordan hurt her Does she take that chance again? I would highly recommend this read if you are into second chance romances, rockstar romance once i started reading i didn’t stop. This was a quick read that kept me entertained the entire book.

A Death on Fools Lane (An Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen. This 4th installment in the Eve Sawyer Mysteries is just as good as the other 3. It can be read as a standalone with no problem. Its the continuing story of Eve Sawyer who is a college student who keeps stumbling upon murder victims. While house sitting with some friends during winter break they are woke up in the middle of the night by the police telling there is a dead body in their back yard. Of course Eve and her friends have to investigate. Finding out if its a actual murder of suicide is the first step they need to figure out. Then they have to be very careful they don’t end up becoming a victim in the mystery. Will they be able to figure out what is going on and why before someone else gets hurt? Read this fun mystery to find out!

This is a well-crafted mystery. The characters are believable- they are real enough to be fallible. I enjoyed the fact that the characters were able to minister to others in times of great sorrow. Readers who have not personally encountered tragedy may gain a small understanding of what to do (or not do) around others who are going through something terrible. I will definitely read another book featuring the main character.

Cruel Hate is the 5th book in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn and the 2nd book in Aspen and Phoenix’s story, talk about a cliffhanger!! I need to know what is going to happen next! Aspen is coming to terms with being pregnant by the campus hero and Phoenix is struggling with every aspect of college life, keeping up with school, football, family and now becoming a father. When it all gets a bit too much Phoenix makes some life-changing decisions. I have loved this series so far, I cannot wait for the next installment to find out what happens.

Love and Stilettos caught my attention by the gorgeous cover art and I was pleasantly surprised by the speed in which I fell in love with the writing. I love books that have names or titles of each chapter, so I was really excited to see this story featured that. Many romance novels that I’ve read have duel perspectives and alternate between the main male and female but I really liked that this story was told entirely from Mia’s perspective. As if the small details I’ve already listed weren’t reason enough to give this novel a chance, the characters were warm, kind and relatable. I felt like they were my friends from the very first page!
This is a cute book for grade school age kids. My 9 and 10 year old enjoyed it. Shirl is a little girl on Earth who reaches out to the vast reaches of the Universe by sending out a radio transmission that Eee-aah, an alien from a far away planet, responds to. Eee-aah is excited to go to school with Shirl, and Shirl is equally excited to introduce her new friend to her schoolmates. While Shirl and Eee-aah are at school, the young alien talks to Shirl’s class about her home planet and the constellations that can be seen from it, as well as the constellations that can be seen from Earth, with help from the other students and the teacher. The illustrations are fantastic, and the information section at the end of the book about constellations is an excellent addition.

This was such a sweet YA romance. It gave a complete picture of how school life can be for some people and how cruel kids can be towards other children when they come from different backgrounds. This is a story of finding your person. The person that gets you completely only to lose them and then find them again. It is a story which is a mixture of pain as Mina has to deal with bullying due to her family circumstances, joy and love as she falls for Wes and then heartbreak when he disappears on her without a word. The connection between Wes and Mina was beautiful to read. Both of them have troubled home life’s but they managed to find a sense of happiness with each other.
Fast forward and Mina’s life has completely changed since her mother remarried. Mina now goes to a posh school where she is popular and the Queen. Her life seems perfect and the act she puts on fools them all. However, Wes is never far from her mind. Wes’s life hasn’t changed much and when he gets a scholarship to go to the school Mina is at their 2 worlds collide all over again. As old feelings resurface will Mina and Wes finally get their happy ever after or will Mina’s new act and position stop any chance of that. Is the unicorn loving girl that Wes fell in love with still there or has she been lost forever as she struggled to find a way to survive high-school on her own.
I loved both Mina and Wes characters. I could completely understand Mina’s need to fit in no matter the cost but once Wes is back I love how she was prepared to give it all up if he could promise never to leave her again. This book definately tugs at the heartstrings and the connection between Wes and Mina was beautiful to read and watch develop.

This was a quick, sweet romance of a lost love. Katie comes back home for a wedding after ten years of being gone. Chase is raising his nephew and never expected the woman who broke his heart to show up. Little did they know, the love was still there. If you want a quick romantic novel, this is it. The narration was great and really rounded off the book.

I couldn’t put this book down at all. I had to know what was going to happen next. The characters do have flaws that are very relatable and there are some things that they need to work on as does everyone. The story does flow together easily and incorporates other minor characters to support the main characters of this story. The author has done well overall.

This is the 4th book in the series but in my opinion, it can be read as a standalone. You do get more out of the series by reading them in order. This is a well-written second-chance romance that will captivate you from the first meeting. I fell in love with Angelica as a character and loved her development throughout the book. Her strength and determination made me root for her and her love life. Highly recommended!

This was an emotional rollercoaster from the first page! On the first page Julie’s life is changed forever when her brother and sister-in-law are killed in a car accident. Their children are left in Julie’s care, Julie has never wanted children, but she learns to raise Lucy and Mikey through their collective grief and trauma. I loved this book even though it tore me to shreds!!

The book follows the main character Xenia and her family, living as undocumented immigrants in America. The themes of immigration and deportation are addressed in a way that children can understand but I would recommend reading it with an adult to help discuss the themes. As always another beautiful and education book from this author.

Atonement is the first book in the McIntyre County Series and I really enjoyed it. With strong characterisation and a multilayered narrative I was glued from start to finish. The story followed Nic and Con as they navigated a series of suicides and their feelings for each other. The balance between the investigation, the romance and the drama was really well done. The writing shows how much the author understood the effects of PTSD on a person and those around them. I am really looking forward to continuing this series. Highly recommend.

When We Fell Again follows Jordan, lead singer of rock band Idol Rev, and Alexis, Jordan’s ex-girlfriend and tour manager of Idol Rev’s comeback tour. It’s been five years since Jordan and Alexis last saw each other and they’ve both changed a lot, but their feelings come back to the surface after spending so much time together. Jordan is immediately ready to jump back into a relationship, but Alexis isn’t so sure. When she finally makes her decision, Jordan is more than willing to show her how much he has changed for the better. And it was all going so well… but I have complicated feelings about the ending. Jordan relapsed, and it was so disappointing. I know relapses happen in real life and I understand the complexity of addiction but I was expecting a second chance romance, and I can’t support a male main character putting the female main character through this, how am I supposed to root for him after that? My favourite character was Alexis and least favourite character was Arlo. I recommend this book because it was an interesting read with the right amount of twists and turns and a good amount of angst. I am glad there’s a happy ending, and I love how their last names are Bowie and Jagger. ‘The touch felt so familiar, so intimate, like the past five years had melted away and we were the same as we once were.’

4.5 Stars A Death on Fools Lane Murder Off Route 82 is the Fourth book in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. I think this is my favourite Eve Sawyer Mystery to date. This book picks up where book 3 left off. They can be read as standalones, but I suggest you start with the first book and work your way through. That way you get to see where Eve started and how she has grown throughout the series. Eve Sawyer is a college undergrad student and loves nothing more than getting the story. This tenacious young woman seems to find trouble even when she is not looking. The other thing is she can’t say no when others need her help. Eve and friends are looking forward to relaxing and settling in for the holiday season, the smell of Christmas is in the air but so is trouble. As Eve and her two friends are drawn into helping solve a mysterious death, they find more than they bargained for. What secrets come to light as she and her friends race against time as their lives once again become endangered. This engaging cozy mystery is fast-paced and has everything to make the pages turn. Be sure to grab a copy and settle in for an afternoon read.

A Death On Fool’s Lane is the fourth engrossing instalment in the Eve Sawyer Mystery Series by Jane Suen. This is an intriguing cozy mystery woven with suspense, drama, friendship, family, crime and investigation, interesting characters, secrets, lies, and more. Being set around the Christmas holidays also adds an extra element of interest to the story. We join Eve Sawyer, and her friends, as they find themselves caught up in quite an unusual murder mystery. We have met Eve (and some of her friends) in the previous books. Eve is a college journalism student who has a great ‘nose’ for sniffing out a good story, but also seems to attract trouble and danger. In this story Eve is invited to house sit for a friends aunt who will be away over the holidays. It is an opportunity to relax, unwind, and explore that Eve just can’t resist. But little did she know that this trip would bring mystery right to her doorstep, as a body is found hanging from a tree in the backyard. What happened? How did the body come to be in there? Is it really a suicide, or something more sinister? Well, this is well worth the read to find out. As expected from Ms. Suen, this is a fun little mystery with all the ingredients needed to keep you flipping the pages to find out what happens. This story could be read as a standalone. But, I highly recommend reading the previous books, as there is a lot of interesting developments, intriguing mysteries, character introductions/details, and other relevant information that will enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this book (and series as a whole). Can’t wait to see what Eve gets up to in the next book. Bring it on! Happy Reading…

I enjoyed The Guardsman, it’s the 2nd book in this series. The author wrote a follow up novel that works out quite well. Liam has returned! Ali has her twin back, but does she? He’s changed and he has secrets to keep. Is it for good reason or just privacy to spare what really happened? Teresa is the one who finally convinced him to admit his true identity and come home. She also has a lot on her plate she’s running from. Running right into Liam’s arms. When freak accidents start happening one starts to wonder if someone is after her. The author navigates all these obstacles and challenges wonderfully. The growth of Liam’s character is what kept me glued to this novel. Despite his past he’s one of the good ones, however does he know that? You don’t necessarily have to read book 1 to read book 2. It’s a series but a standalone in its own right. Now for you it’s time to check it out! Me I’m going to go back to book 1 and read it right through book 2 to see if I’m missing anything.
