Lucky Break (Trentbridge Tales Book 2) by Lee Wood – Review by Tara Johnson Barnes

Lucky Break (Trentbridge Tales #2)Lucky Break by Lee Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lucky Break is the second book in the Trentbridge Tales series. It is a British crime thriller full of action, suspense, mystery, murder, intrigue, deception, art, danger, secrets, and lies. Although it can easily be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the first book because some of the characters overlap. The book brings back Detective Sheldon whom we met in the first book. James Sheldon is now working as a Private Investigator who has been asked to prove the innocence of the main suspect in a murder at the Albion Hotel. The murder involves a man who seems to have had several lucky breaks in the art world that have amassed him millions of dollars. Unfortunately, his luck ran out and he ended up dead. Now it is up to PI Sheldon to solve his murder. He is smart, feisty, and determined to solve the case. As PI Sheldon digs into the case and unravels the clues, he discovers an unlikely murder suspect who has been hiding right under his nose the whole time. The case takes some unexpected twists and turns that makes the book impossible to put down. Anxiously awaiting the next book in this amazing series!

Vixen: (Devil’s Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter) by D.M. Earl – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Vixen: (Devil's Handmaidens MC: Timber-Ghost, Montana Chapter)Vixen: by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Have you ever started a book and found you forgot everything around you? That is exactly how this book went. Vixen is so much stronger than she even realizes. As she is trying to get her life back, more from her past is brought forward. While she is scared, her friend is in need of help from her and the Devil’s Handmaidens. Is she strong enough to do this? How much of her past is going to continue to haunt her dreams? Having said that, I give no spoilers. This author is amazing! Her series is a must read. It is fast paced and you find yourself on an emotional rollercoaster. I will advise you to read this series in order. As you don’t want to miss anything. The characters are all strong, independent and a group of women that have found a family of sisters who have each other’s back. The events are so realistic and you can’t do anything to help them. Okay you can! By reading this series! I hope you enjoy Vixen’s story as much as I did and do. I am looking forward to reading book 5.

When We Fell Again by Julie Archer – Review by Kerry Carr

When We Fell AgainWhen We Fell Again by Julie Archer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a fast paced second chance rockstar romance. It has all the elements of a story filled with angst, drama, tension, jealousy and misunderstandings. The author does an amazing job of allowing the reader into that world. Allowing us to see all the imperfections that go on behind the scenes and what impact it has on everyone involved. The characters of Jordan and Alexis are really well written and even though at times I wanted to bang their heads together their chemistry was off the charts.
Jordan and Alexis had dated when they were younger but due to insecurities and jealousy on Jordan’s part it ended up tearing them apart.
Fast forward and Jordan is the lead singer in the band and Alexis is asked to go with them on tour as a tour manager their paths cross again. As the old sparks rekindle will they fall back into their love they once knew or will the anger and jealousy that drive them apart the last time show itself and destroy this relationship a second time.
Will Alexis allow her heart to be broken twice by the same man?
Will Jordan finally win back the women he loved and lost.
Their ride won’t be an easy one and with the added pressure of making this come back tour a success this won’t be a easy ride for either of them. The challenges will be many but can they successed together?

Mr. Barsins’ Toy Emporium by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Mr. Barsins' Toy EmporiumMr. Barsins’ Toy Emporium by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mr. Barsins’ Toy Emporium is an enchanting children’s story that takes place in a world where imaginary friends are real! Four children – Lily, Jack, Audrey and Nick – are drawn to the Toy Emporium to claim their own imaginaries. Soon they, and their families, are caught up in the fantastic world of mermaids, dragons, sylphs and gnomes. But while Mr Barsin doesn’t ask for money in exchange for the imaginaries, there is still a cost he expects to be paid.

This is an engaging “be careful what you wish for” story. It explores different family dynamics as well as challenges that children face, including grief and neglect. Parents try and do what’s best for their children, and don’t always get it right. There are many times when a child and/or their parents are in danger, so for sensitive readers it may be good to read this book together to reduce anxiety.

This book gets four stars from me! I’d recommend it to kids, and grown ups, who love to play with their imaginary friends!

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen – Review by Megan Conley

Alterations / Game Changer / Primal Will (Alterations #1-3)Alterations / Game Changer / Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This set includes all three books in the trilogy: Alteration, Game Changer, and Primal Will. I liked the concept of this dystopian, sci-fi series; however, there were times where I found myself lost and having to go back and re-read. I also felt like Suen jumped around sometimes causing the reader to question themselves. But overall I enjoyed the suspense and mystery of the books and I would recommend them. I would suggest reading them in order and going ahead and getting the set because you are going to want to start the next book as soon as you finish.

This is a story by an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This is one of my favorites yet. I enjoy this author’s writing skills and their attention to details that make the stories realistic. This story is no different. This is a well written story about Ehli-nikkalu. A story that will take you on a journey of discovery of love and a determination to save a kingdom. I enjoyed her character and what she brought to the story. She is a strong character that is determined and has great growth throughout. I enjoyed how I was pulled into the story from the start and was kept engaged to the end. This is a fast paced story that is easy to read and entertaining. There is great growth of the plot which added to the story as well. I enjoyed reading this book which I highly recommend.

What an amazing read! If you want a phenomenal second chance rockstar romance…read this! The characters had their flaws but my goodness…I fell in love with them all. Rockstar romances is one of my favorite genres so I knew I would fall in love with this! I couldn’t put it down. The chemistry between Alexis and Jordan is so loving. She’s there for him, even through his hard times. It was a bit rocky but nothing they couldn’t work through. I was worried at the end, I couldn’t handle if this book ended with a cliffhanger lol. But the way the author ended it, was perfect! Loved every page! Highly recommend this!

Wild For Me (The Balefire Series Book 3) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Angela Shirley

Wild For Me (Balefire, #3)Wild For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Dakota is part of the most successful rock band in the world, he can have any woman he wants and does on a regular basis, but one night when she walked into the room in her tight leather skirt he had to have her. One night, but he can’t seem to get her out of his dreams and fantasies will he be able to get her out of his system.

Annabelle went to the concert not expecting anything but when Dakota’s eyes latched onto hers she was gone and then in the morning as she drove away not knowing if she could go with out seeing him again but when she discovers that she has a Management Internship with a band, to her surprise it is with Belefire and not only that she is in Dakota’s path yet again, can she keep her job strictly professional so people do not think she got the job because of him or will he wear her down and she succumbs to his charms.

This is the third book in the series and although you can read this as a stand alone story, you do get a understanding of some of the story from the other books as each book has the same timelines in the stories. The chemistry between these two characters is off the charts and watching them skip around each other is brilliant to read. The secondary characters in the book also adds to the story and you become invested in all not just the main characters.

There are brilliant parts where you just feel for both characters as they are trying to navigate the world of celebrity and also trying to see where the relationship will go and take they take you on the journey.

I can’t wait to read more about this great band and catch up with all the other characters along the way.

Morgan is a successful businessman with a high profile security business but there is one thorn in his side his ex – Fawn. Fawn shows up one day with a barrage of an entourage wanting to take there daughter out for lunch but Morgan gets wary that this is going to be another publicity stunt and stops her in her tracks. Fawn gets vicious and threatens Morgan with lawyers to get custody.

Blake is falling apart, she has been let go from the college and had to give up her lovely Manhattan apartment to now living in a summer cottage in the middle of nowhere in Fork County until her brother, Harper asks her to do him a favour and help a friend out, the only problem is that it’s a Nanny position but beggars can be choosers so she agrees.

Morgan hires Blake and Ciara his daughter and her hit it off straight away the only problem is he also is finding the beautiful nanny charming and attractive, can he hid his feelings away or could this woman be the one he has been waiting for?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I loved every word of it. It is a short story but packs a punch. The main characters of Blake and Morgan jump off the page with the chemistry from there first meeting and it is not long that you are willing them to take the relationship further. I loved Ciara as a child of nine she is sassy and smart young lady and is a brilliant character in the book.

I loved the flow of the story and the way the story twists with the main characters was brilliantly to read. Can’t wait to read the next book and many more from this author.

The Moon That Fell from HeavenThe Moon That Fell from Heaven by N.L. Holmes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Moon That Fell from Heaven by N.L. Holmes is an historical story, a mystery that is full of rich and vibrant historical details. The passion and vivid descriptions of a time from long ago brought to life by NL’s loving passion. I enjoy learning just that little bit of the history with each story NL shares.
The Moon That Fell from Heaven is a slow cosy read even though there is a lot going on, that transports the reader to a different time and world and way of life. It is a story where court politics, intrigue, lies, secrets, murder, danger, threating war, espionage, passion and proving oneself has been woven together to give us an exciting read and the pages turning.

This suspenseful tale sees our characters having to deal with scepticism, malice, and much much more.

Ehli-nikkalu has a kind heart and it is so easy to feel for her, but she has much to prove to those who see her has much lesser than them. She finds herself between a rock and a hard place when she learns of a secret but decide to take matters into their own hands to try to keep the kingdom from war and threats.
If you like a story where fiction meets historical mystery, then give this one a shot.

Daring Ceri (True Platinum #6)Daring Ceri by Morgana Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Daring Ceri is an Enemies to Lovers Rock Star Romance story and the sixth book in True Platinum series. Each book is centred on a different couple but can be read as standalones. However, I encourage you to start at the beginning.
It is easy to like and become invested in Morgana’s characters and the chemistry between them is most certainly sizzling.
Alex is a rock star bad boy and life of the party well he was once upon a time. He is also the one that broke her heart and crushed her spirit. Now that their paths have crossed again, he just needs to show her he has changed.
It took a long time for Ceri to get over the one she thought would be forever but was the one who crushed her spirit and broke her. Now fate is messing with her by putting them in the same place at the same time. She won’t fall for that twice.
Daring Ceri is also a forced proximity steamy second chance tale that is full of emotions, angst, trust issues, pain, hurt, tension, frustrations, drama and much more to keep the pages turning.
I really enjoyed the push-pull between these characters and the will they won’t they.
You will need to read it to find out what happens.

I loved the intensity and suspense of this story. Right from the beginning, I was pulled in. I have never read a romantic suspense that started with such an intense scene as a direct punch to the face. The female protagonists are both strong women just trying to do the right thing. The male protagonist is just trying to help. I found the writing to be perfect for a romantic suspense. I love how the author has just the right words to give you the feel of a thriller/suspense. You just feel the edge to the story as you try to figure out the creep and root for the romance. I enjoyed the story and really recommend the story/series to romantic suspense lovers out there.

Beautiful Dangerous is another book in the intriguing series Philly Heat. There are twists and turns that you just do not see coming in this forced proximity tale. Becky has cleverly woven yet another engaging mystery full of thrills into a tale that is compelling and engrossing.
With secrets, lies, threats, danger and a stalker, just to name a few, it’s so easy to get lost in and the pages keep on turning. Add in romance, drama, fear and suspense what more do you need.
Becky’s narrative is told through different POV’s which I really enjoy in a story because we learn so much more about the characters this way. The characters are fully realised, complex and you can’t help but become invested in them and feel that you are in on the journey with them.
Doyle is determined that nothing will happen to her but with her unstable stalker on the lose nothing is guaranteed.
Hannah just wants her life back but with someone out there lurking in the shadows her life will never be the same again.
The chemistry between Hannah and Doyle is undeniable and I really, really liked them.
How far would you go to save the one you love?

Beautiful Dangerous is an entertaining romantic suspense novel, that I recommend you read if you love this genre.

Gumshoe Goes to a Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book #2) by Laura Hawks – Review by Angela Hayes

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 2)Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera by Laura Hawks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Gumshoe Goes to A Quinceanera is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries series by Laura Hawks. Having read and enjoyed several of Ms. Hawks’ books previously, there was no question that I would be passing this by when it released, as I knew it would be a fun read.
It is a YA cozy mystery, with paranormal elements, humour, banter, action, adventure, whimsy, secrets, corruption, friendship, and intrigue. The story was well woven, suspenseful, and entertaining- and even though it was a little predictable in parts and is targeted towards younger readers- I still really enjoyed it.
The characters are cleverly crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. The story is original, with a great pace and a smooth flow, making for an easy read.
As I have said before, Ms. Hawks always manages to intrigue me with her clever storylines, and this story was no different. I loved meeting Mia in the first book, and especially Gumshoe- who really steals the show, every time. So I was looking forward to catching up with them again and enjoyed following them along on this second adventure. Now I am forward to seeing what they get up to next.
Well worth the read!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Laura Hawks!

This was a fun read? that I am glad I took the chance on because theyre a new to me author! I enjoyed the characters especially the main Character Arryn. This book was a little slow from the getgo but I enjoyed the ending and thought that the author had a good writing style. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future!

Alterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen- Review by Melissa Saxton

Prepare for a thrilling ride with this series that will keep you thinking about the possibilities for many nights to come.
A med school drop out and brilliant engineer unlocks the secrets of human cellular structure and can implant a chip to cure chronic debilitating disease, help you lose and maintain the perfect body weight or become youthful and beautiful all over again. Would you take the plunge? Sounds too good to be true right? What could possibly go wrong.
Whelp… possibly everything. Meet 3 women who all chose their chip for different reasons , and the mysterious Dr Kite. Watch as these chips all get implanted only to find out two have a dangerous defective flaw that causes utter chaos and absolute devestation for the rising doctor who was so close to perfecting mind control with his chips.
After nearly losing everything you follow Dr Kite in book 2 who is in the depths of despair and the 3 women trying to move on with their lives, but someone hasnt let that night of destruction go and the threads that tie the entire story and all 4 lives together are about to come together in an ending you didnt see coming….Dr Kite still has two chips left and hes got his eyes set on a young girl struggling to survive…or is she???
I literally yelled “What?!?!?” Out loud at 1130 at night in the final section of this trilogy.
This is a very fast paced book, you have to enjoy quick plot development and many POV changes to truly enjoy this series as otherwise it may be too abrupt for some. I felt it was Brilliant!

Mr. Wimp (The Human Mating Site Book 1) by B.L. Wilde – Review by Daryian Lucas

Mr Wimp (The Human Mating Site #1)Mr Wimp by B.L. Wilde

This was my first read by this author and the book was okay. The plot had a strong storyline but I didn’t think it was executed well. I was distracted by there being a lot of exclamation points in places I felt they didn’t belong. The dialogue between the characters also seemed a little immature and like the author wanted certain moments to have a high climax but it came off as unrealistic. I’ll read the next book to see if it gets better.
