Make Me Burn (North Fork Series Book 9)Make Me Burn by Alicia Street
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This story pulled me in immediately and kept me interested through the entire (very quick) read. The chemistry between Jinx and Logan leapt off of the page and sizzled through the whole read.

Logan met Vic, Jinx’ older brother when they were in college and they became fast best friends. In light of how awful and unsupportive his home life and family was, Victor brought Logan home over the first college break and he was immediately welcomed into their fray. Victors parents considered him another son, Natalie another brother, but Jinx, the baby and black sheep of the family – she immediately fell in love. At several years younger than her siblings, she was always left behind by them and not quite understood, with her sensitive artists brain. But Logan understood. He told her and kept her secrets, inspired her motivation and talents, and let her be her whole self. They even had plans to attend college in the same city and visit the attractions as she grew older!

However, in the midst of grad school, Logan up and disappeared. He changed his number, deleted his email and left town without speaking to anyone except Victor and the story Victor told was that Logan deceived him and destroyed his trust. The family chose to believe Victor and accept the absence of Logan from their lives. Jinx, however, has spent the past 8 years measuring men against Logan and has been sorely disappointed.

When they run into one another at a wedding reception, they manage to avoid much catching up, but Logan finds her the next day and manages to send some business her way. After he makes her an offer of a night together to get each other out of their systems, they realize that getting out of each others systems wasn’t really something they could do. Will Jinx be able to get to the bottom of the rift between Victor and Logan? Will Logan be willing to take the risk of the threat from Victor to be with the woman who really sets his blood on fire? Will they ever be able to find their great love?
