Family Ties Family Lies is a definite roller coaster of emotions, family drama, secrets with love and suspense. This story will stay with me for quite some time….there is a lot of feelings and emotions poured into this story….and it was such a great read.
What can happen when buried secrets are discovered…should they stay buried or learn the truth behind it all. This happens to Rose Webster….going home to help her mother as she battles an illness.. trying to pick up the pieces as they both re-discover old photos in the attic..reminiscing. When a mysterious photo is discovered by Rose, she asks her mom about it only to be brushed off. Rose, being the photojournalist that she is, cannot let this mysterious photo go and wants to discover what this is all about. As Rose navigates this she has to be sure does she really want to discover the whole truth behind it all….or leave it alone like her mother wishes.
I highly recommend this book…the secrets and turmoil…this book was hard to put down.

This book captivated me from the very first chapter which tells me to hunker down because I’m going to devour the entire thing in one sitting. It typically takes me awhile to find my groove but not this time. This is the first book in the Stevie Capot Chronicles, and the author has started out like a strike of lightning! I love that this story is told from multiple points of view as it makes me feel like I’m getting each character’s unique perspective. This is categorized as a Steampunk/Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and I must say that it somehow fits that to a T. The characters are incredibly well developed, and you can feel how much work has gone into building this amazing world. The flow of the story is one of my favorites though because some books tend to feel like chunks of a story instead of a continuous tale when multiple POV is involved. This author knew exactly how to make it flow from one person to another with such ease. I highly recommend picking this up if you are looking for an adventurous paranormal read for your weekend!

This book was definitely interesting; but it wasn’t really my favorite type of fantasy. The FMC is a quick-witted total bad***, who doesn’t take crap from anyone. The MMCs in the book were funny and fun to read about, with a plot full of fae, shifters, and just all around magical things. If you like quirky fantasies that are a little more lighthearted, then this would be the one for you!

This is a very emotional, heart strings pulling, kind of read. Laramee was running from her past, from all those who loved her, all because communication was broken between them. Jamie was also running, but in a different direction. When their paths crossed during a business deal, Laramee and Jamie have to make some very difficult decisions regarding their future paths.
I love this book and am so glad that I picked it up! It was difficult to read in parts but overall, the story put a smile on my face and lifted my spirits. I was not aware that this was part of a series and never felt like I was missing any ties to possible previous characters or situations. I do want to go back and read the first book in this series though! I highly recommend this read!

I haven’t had a book affect me this deeply in an exceptionally long time! I hadn’t read anything by this author before, but the cover drew me in immediately. I knew I was going to read this book before I read the synopsis, and once I did, I dove right in. It was impossible to pull away from once I started, so I stayed up all night needing to know what was coming. The emotions hit you deeply and at times I shed quite a few tears. It doesn’t feel like I’m reading about Rose and her family, it feels like I’m experiencing it firsthand which is an incredible feat! The mystery that was woven into the story was always in the back of my mind even though I couldn’t figure out what was happening. It was well worth it and one of my top reads of the year so far. It doesn’t matter your go-to genre, I think everyone should give this one a chance. You won’t regret the journey it takes you on!

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I have enjoyed reading her books from the first one I picked up by her. I enjoy her writing style as well as her attention to details that make her character come to life. They are written with a lot of heart which makes them great characters. This is a well written story about second chances. Laramee fled her home years ago but now that her parents could lose that home, she is going home. What happens from here you don’t want to miss for sure. The past comes to the present for these characters. Two men want Laramee but which one is the better man? I enjoyed watching the growth of these characters and the chemistry is strong. I enjoyed what they brought to the story which made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story that is a must read. I highly recommend this book.

The Closer: An Enemies to Lovers Dark Romance is the third and final book in The Hustlers Trilogy by Rowan Rossler. Urgh! This was such a bittersweet read for me- on one hand, I was excited to get the next instalment of the series and find out more about June, and Dallas….. but on the other hand, I didn’t/don’t want to say goodbye to this superb series, or characters. Seriously though, this series just seems to have gotten better with each new instalment, and that is testament to Ms. Rossler’s storytelling and writing talents. I really did love everything about the books/series- and I’m sad that this is the last – but excited to see what Ms. Rossler might have up her sleeve on offer next! This is a fantastic enemies to lovers contemporary romance with drama, suspense, chemistry, sizzle, tension, angst, past pain, dynamic characters, and much more. Again, as with the previous books, the characters were fully developed individuals, and the story was not only engrossing, but also sizzled off the pages. The author also managed to weave intrigue, drama, and more than a little tension into her storyline- which, again, made for an unputdownable read. June and Dallas have a complicated history that overshadows everything. June never wanted to see him, ever again, after what happened— but her budding business’s future is riding on her getting a major cash injection, which means having to face him again, with hat in hand. Mmmmmm awkward much! What ensues makes for a really great read. I definitely recommend this book, and the series- they are well worth the read. Looking forward to more from Ms. Rossler in the (near) future! Happy reading!

At first glance, I thought this story would be some kind of fantasy with a good storyline mix. Although I am familiar with the Steampunk look, I’ve never read a story like this and I’m so glad I gave it a try. Story focuses on Stevie Capot, who does not recall any past memories before finding herself in 1745 in North Carolina. As time passes and she learns more about herself, she transitions from one place to another as she never grows old and must move onto other places and get to know new people. After a century of moving to and fro, random pieces of her memory start trickling back to her. Unfortunately with the distractions of the current town arise, things start piecing together and she is on a mission for the truth! Character POV changes within the characters involved in the storyline, which I’ve always enjoyed reading as it places the readers in the character’s footsteps. Character development in this story is truly amazing and it strings back to the past, present and where the future may lie. I highly recommend this book!

Holy smokes! The tension between Ashton and Zachary is amazing and will blow you away! I highly recommend this steamy, sultry book to be your next read. BDSM is involved so be prepared.
The second my kids knew I had a book by this author, we had to read it! They were so excited before we even got to the first page. As always, we were all instantly engaged either the story and the characters and how the author brought them both to life. What really makes these books so special is the illustrations. They are so vivid and and make it so much easier to imagine everything going on. We spend just as much time looking at then as we do reading the book. This is a really great story and we all enjoyed reading it multiple times.

As the second book in the series, this story is a great follow in from the first. It is a story that is so easy to get into and I found myself invested in it straight away. I really enjoyed the characters of this book. From the moment they met I felt their connection and it was such a relatable one. I wanted then to find their way with each other. This author is one I pick up every now and again and, when I do, I am always reminded as to why I should read more of their work. This book is well written and interesting. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and getting the know the characters. This is a great book that I really enjoyed.

England: Cultured, Classic, and Charming: A Guide to Hidden England (The Hidden Gems Series) by Christy Nicholas. This is the 3rd book in the Hidden Gems Series and I have really enjoyed this series. Its very informative and interesting. I like it because it tells you about the hidden gem places that you might miss if going by a regular travel guide. This book also gives you a lot of history on England and all the nuances that make it so lovely. It also has lots of information about planning things and how that works in England. Being a foreign Country for us its a great guide that explains a lot of stuff that you wouldn’t normally find. The only bad thing about this book is you will want to book a trip to England immediately. I’m looking forward to the next one.

The Hood of Sedna is the first book to the Stevie Capot Chronicles series, written by author Mina Skye. This twisty, turn-y story features a multitude of fantasy and paranormal aspects. Fae, witches, magic, and so much more to appeal to many lovers of the fantasy genre. Stevie is a reincarnated version of herself; however, she does not know who she is or where she came from, except she emerged from a tree. Taken in by a Scottish family, she was given the name Stevie and learned to once again speak and learn ways of living. However, it became blatantly clear she did not age and took on a nomadic lifestyle, leaving behind the family who took her in. As the story progresses, she encounters three men who may be connected to her true story. There were a couple parts that had me scratching my head but overall, nothing that would keep me from wanting to read a sequel! It’s unique, with lots of character development and parts that will make you chuckle too. Highly recommend for lovers of paranormal fantasy who want a truly unique story to dive into!

I had to feel for Laramee. I loved this story. She and Jamie have a romance that has chemistry (bearclawman). You’ll have to read it to find out what that reference is for. I loved the chemistry, the romance and the whole story. Jamie gets blindsided and his family cares but needs to listen. It was an amazing story to read. This author leaves you feeling every emotion in the story. I love her writing. I am looking forward to reading more in this series. You must read this one.

Hood of Sedna is Book One in the Stevie Capot Chronicles. It is a fae steampunk book full of mystery, action, danger, suspense, love, loss, betrayal, secrets, hope, romance, paranormal elements, shifters, magic, and reincarnation. The story centers around the MC Stevie Capot who is the reincarnation of half witch, half fae, Princess Stephanie Corin. When she was murdered by her fiancé, her uncle turned her body into seeds that turned into a maple tree. When she wakes up a century later and emerges from the tree, she does not know who she is and starts a new life as Stevie Capot. Stevie has not had an easy life and chooses to not remain in one place for too long for fear others will notice that she does not seem to age. She ends up in Sedna, Washington where the secrets and people of her mysterious past start to resurface. A great book with an interesting concept that sucked me in from the first pages. I love the idea of reincarnation and was immediately drawn to the character of Stevie because she is smart, strong, feisty, and tough as nails. I found myself rooting for her to unravel her past and get the happily ever after she deserved. Looking forward to the next book in this amazing series!

It is always nice to find new series. I have read a couple of books from this author and I was not disappointed. The series is unique and I found it to be a breath of fresh air. The author brings the characters to life. I really found myself unable to put this book down once I started. The book is very balanced and has just the right amount of drama and adventure. I really love paranormal books and this really will make it to my top ten. I cannot wait for the next book to see how the series progresses.

This was such a sweet storyline for frenemies romance. Meg and Ryan had me rooting them all along. They had known each other for a long time. I think their grandmothers had tried to do a little matchmaking themselves when the kids were younger. Watching these two come to terms was painful at times but they worked it out for themselves. Hank reminded me of myself because he just said it how he saw it. He’s a good grandpa. Ryan was trying to make things work for the Ranch and Meg just wanted her dream to work. This is one of those sweet romances you should read just because you can. You won’t be disappointed. The characters are great. I loved the town. The story is done well. I can’t wait for the next book.
Be kind to others is the first thing we talked about when we read this. This has become one of our favorite series because it teaches such wonderful values and morals. We really enjoyed reading about Fay and his friends doing so much good. The story is bright and colorful to maintain attention. Your child will love the rhythm of the story. A must for our home library.

This is the first book in the Stevie Capot Chronicles. This is also the first book I have read by this author and I found it really enjoyable. There are loads of characters but the authors writing makes it easy to understand who is who and their connection. This is a story full of twists and turns that I wasn’t able to stop reading. It is a story that is paranormal with fae and an interesting take on reincarnation
Stephanie Corin was murdered a decade ago but she finds herself reborn into a different time and place than where she lost her life. Add to this this fact that she has no memory of who she was or what happened to her before. Finding herself in strange surroundings she does the only thing she can to survive but there is some memories trapped inside her than she is trying to uncover. With danger all around her and enemies she may not even remember when she is approached by 3 men she doesn’t know if they can be trusted. Are they here to help her or cause her harm? What happens if she regains her memories? And will she be in more danger if she does?
This was a really unique and interesting read and I can’t wait to continue with the series.

“Family Ties, Family Lies” by Jacqueline Boudon is a gripping and emotional tale of family secrets and self-discovery. The protagonist, Rose Webster, is a relatable character who is forced to confront her past and navigate the complexities of family relationships.
The novel is well-written and engaging, with a compelling storyline that keeps readers invested until the very end. The author does a fantastic job of setting the scene in a small town in upstate New York, creating a sense of atmosphere and intrigue that draws readers in.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is the theme of secrets and how they can impact our lives. As Rose uncovers hidden truths about her family, she is forced to reevaluate her own beliefs and perceptions, leading to a journey of self-discovery and growth.

Another great read in the Adventures of Cray. Cray and Turtle Fay, on their way to warmer waters find many sea creatures in need of help and they wanted nothing more than to spread kindness and help those in need. Meeting many friends along the way and showing unity among all, Queen Mer May shares her instruments and they all have a nice celebration of kindness. Beautiful artwork.

Another fun and cute story of brother and sister detective duo, Dylan and Emily. This time the siblings are trying to find out whole took the bases from the baseball field, they walk around to many different people and families doing many different activities in search of clues to where the bases could have gone. They run into kids being pirates in a fort, a girl crying about her birthday party theme, a family reunion, a yoga class, all in their pursuit of getting to the sandbox to question the Benny brothers about the bases. I feel like most of the time they are chasing around Theodore, he’s my favorite character. I like that Emily solved this one and was so excited that she forgets how nervous she is about practicing baseball. Her and Dylan work well together in solving these mysteries.

This book is beautiful, the art work is seriously lovely. I will be honest, the best part was the fun fact on each page. It was fun to learn things about some of our sea creatures I didn’t know before. Having the mermaid on the following page look similar to the sea creature in question was such a fun idea, why do mermaids need tails like we know today? Why couldn’t they have tentacles like an octopus? That is so imaginative! The mermaid babies were the cutest, this is a wonderful book for children to imagine what if? and to learn about the fish and creatures that live in our oceans.
This is the first book in the series and it’s a little of a rough start. I am giving this book 4.5/5 stars because it has amazing potential and I feel that the books to follow in this series will definitely be more polished. It has good bones just needs little work in the characters. Ugh that isn’t even fully correct. The characters are good, they are complex but a little too complex for the story line. I felt like they jumped all over the place or said one thing and then did another. Just when I started to mesh with them something would happen that wouldn’t be in line with what I thought should happen. So this doesn’t mean that they aren’t good or written well. It just means I had a difficult time finding that gel that makes one connect with the characters. The book it self is written well, it is definitely an enemies to lovers trope. It has romance and love but in a very clean almost sweet package. You do feel the emotions of the characters. This is why its between 4.5 and 5 stars for me. It has everything to be a star booklet I didn’t gel with the characters throughout the book which made it hard for me to pay attention or not get sidetracked by something else, which is why it would be a 4.5 star review. Like I said earlier, I feel that the following books in this series are going to be amazing and I am looking forward to reading them. It was a really cute break from what I normally read and the story line is really, really good. Reviewed by: @bbohls
