I hadn’t read anything by this author before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. This is the first book in the Willowbrook Lake series, and it had me hooked from the very first chapter! It was quite emotional and had me tearing up a few times. If you’ve ever had your heart broken or experienced a devastating tragedy, this will probably tug at your heart as well. It’s a beautiful second chance romance that includes a grieving process. I always enjoy the dual points of view in books because it allows me to get a better understanding of each character. If you enjoy emotional contemporary romances, there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself lost in this book. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

Horrific thriller! Great characters with storyline. This is a page turner that will have you at the edge of your seat. This is one of those thrillers that will have you second guessing. I recommend to readers who don’t mind brutal writing and steamy sexual scenes put together.

The Silent Forest (The House on the Hill Book 2) by David Kummer. HOLY MOLY! This book was intense! Its not one to read while you are alone in the dark or you will not sleep. This is my favorite genre so I knew I would like it but I LOVED it. This book picks up right where the previous one leaves off so I do recommend reading the 1st book before this one. Its a few weeks after the first book ends and Alison is still missing but Kaia still believes she is out there. Kaia begins a search on her own and while searching she digs up some things about people in this town that they would probably rather stayed secret. Will Kaia end up putting herself in danger digging up all these secrets? The sheriff is not happy that these secrets are coming out as are several others in town. These people could be dangerous if crossed. Hang on to the edge of your seat because this book will have you jumping from the get go. Such a awesome thrilling, scary story. I can’t wait for the next one!

This counting book has adorable illustrations and works on counting up to ten. The story follows sandpipers as they are playing on the beach until they end up falling asleep. At the end of the book there are facts about sandpipers, and a find and count with other sea creatures. I would highly recommend this book.

This adorable counting book has great illustrations. The story gives some good vocabulary relating to starfish and the sea. Not only does the story count to 10 but it has a cute story about the starfish as they go along. The end has a bunch of great starfish facts and a seek and find that also works on counting objects to 5. I would recommend this to anyone with children working on counting or sea life.

Finding Love (Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy Book 2) by Julie Navickas. This is the 2nd book in the Clumsy Little Hearts Trilogy and while you don’t have to read the 1st book to understand this one, I always recommend reading them in order to get a better understanding of the characters. This is Rachel and Miguel’s story. Rachel is a real estate agent who has never done well in the dating department. While getting stood up on a date Rachel is drinking her cares away and she meets Miguel who happens to own the restaurant. Miguel cooks her food and they talk and talk. Miguel is still recovering from a bad relationship so he’s not looking for love at all but when it happens you can’t stop it. Rachel is smitten with Miguel but she’s afraid he is still grieving his past relationship. Will they be able to have their happy ending. Read this sweet story to find out!

Another cute counting story and this time with starfish. I personally love to learn about starfish and it is great for children to be exposed to all types of animals and sea life. This cute starfish explores their surroundings of the beach, waves, and tide pools as they grow in numbers. The language in the story exposes emotions and extensive word choices, which is great for foundational learning to prepare preschoolers for school. Illustrations are beautiful but definitely color digital or hardcopy is best for this selection. Great facts on starfish included as well as some fun activities for children to do.

I’ve previously read the Ten Little Sea Turtles in this collection and it was so great that I already knew this one would be as well! And honestly I didn’t even know what sandpipers were until I read this book. So even though it is a book for children, as a parent, it doesn’t hurt to keep learning! These little cute birdies keep adding up to its group on each page in different sequences of events. Children are exposed to extensive language and exploration of beach life in a group setting. My favorite part is when they meet up with their mother and line up behind her as to infer on following their parent, role model, teacher, or any leader influence. Little tidbits of information are shared on sandpipers as well.

What a great children’s book! Perfect for those kids in preschool age range either for daycares or at home. Children will not only learn the importance of counting their numbers but also the great bond of sea turtles, working together with others, and the beauty of sea life. Children are exposed to so many learning fundamentals that become foundational blocks for advanced learning as well. The illustrations are so beautiful as well! Definitely hardcopy of this book is better than digital format to enjoy pictures but also free exploration for those little hands!

Real world events seen from another perspective. Terri Sabol’s Oscar and Emmy series makes the reader take a step back and remember that as important as it is for you to have a plan for disasters it’s important to have them for your pets too. As the news showed in the book several abandon their pets out of the lack of a plan and preparation for what’s needed to take them. Added facts on details and more information on what’s needed for pet emergency kits is amazing. Also, this book teaches the reader to have empathy for those less fortunate in disasters and small ways they can help that leave big impacts like making cookies and teaching others how to make a kit for their pets.
Irresistible Bond by Victoria Saccenti is book 5 in the Central Florida series and another very good read. Storm, Barrington, and Marcus bring so much into this book, and the HEAT truly is steamy with them. Storm running from them feeling she did not belong in their world, but when they get word, she is back, they want to claim her. They want her safe, they want her to heal. They want to love her fully. This was another story that I wanted to go on and on. The author was a way of fulling you into the story. The twists and turns, the passion. This book has it all. HIGLY recommend this steamy book and highly suggest reading all the books in the series.

Stunning illustrations and easy to read. Kim Ann’s books are always a winner with growing little readers. The easy-to-read stories take you on a journey with the turtles, in this book, as one is added on with each turn of the page. Before you know it you have reached the end where there are facts and a fun little counting search game for your little one to enjoy.

This book had me intrigued from the first few pages and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. The story is told from multiple POV’s which helps us to get a deeper understanding of each character. A serial killer named X, seems to be using an elite and exclusive gated community as his hunting grounds and Detective Cole Silverthorne is determined to catch him before he strikes again. Maya works as a live-in nanny in the same community that the women seem to be vanishing. The killer is cold, vicious, and unfazed by the determined Detective Silverthorne that wants to stop him. Danger and secrets lurk around every corner and the hunt is on but who is chasing who? A gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the end.

What a fantastic story not just for kids but for any pet owner! This story shows how to prepare for a hurricane both for people and for your pets. The author presents it in a way that is factual but not scary for kids and give wonderful advice for pet kits. The cover page has Oscar and Emmy’s paw prints which adds to the cuteness of this story. Very great book for anyone who lives in a hurricane pathway!

The Silent Forest begins right where Misery house ends, using the same format of the previous book, each chapter from a different member of the Wood’s family point of view. Each member of the town is charged from the events in the previous and none of them for the better. This book takes you deeper into the depths of the malevolent house on the hill. It takes you on a journey to find if Allison is alive or dead in the house. This page turner answers the question at the very end and leaves you needing more answers as you eagerly await the next book in this series. The feeling it leaves you with, is that there may be no happy endings here.

This novel starts right away with mystery and foreboding. Every member of the Woods’ family serves as a protagonist. The story is told through each family member, giving a more complete picture of the history in the small town and its mysterious events. The book gives Stephan King vibes, he loves to tell a creepy story from a small town. This town goes back generations, and rarely see’s newcomers. The townsfolk are not welcoming to anyone that hasn’t always been there. A large, empty house sits on a hill overlooking the town, there are many stories about the house and none of them good. As the book ends, it leaves you with unanswered questions and eager for the next one.

The Music That Ties Us: A Rockstar Romance by Nicolette Terry

Having read The Story that Ties Us, I was looking forward to reading this book. This book was even better than the other and I was pulled into this story immediately. The characters were so relatable. Their connection was intense and emotional and yet there seemed to be so much standing in their way. I am desperately hoping they would find their way through it all.
I loved the story the author had created. It really drew me in and was the kind of story that didn’t let go until I had finished the book. I was completely invested in what was going on and the characters journey. This is a brilliant book that I would highly recommend.

Yet another wonderful book by Naomi Valkyrie! I was so hooked, I read the entire book while waiting to get my tires changed! All of her books so far have literally grabbed me from page one and did not let go. I love that you never fully know what you’re going to get when you pick up the book but are never disappointed. Magic, shifters, romance and a little trouble makes for a perfect story! I can’t decide if Clyde is my favorite character or if it’s Brix. I would love to learn more about her. I’d also love to learn more about Jinx. Like usual with Naomi Valkyrie, I highly recommend you reading this book. You won’t regret it!

Flying at Recess was another kids book written by Lois Wickstrom. I love how her books helps kids have imaginations. The pictures are illustrated beautifully. The book is full of colors. The details in the story is good. I would say this book is great for 7-9 year olds to read alone.

This book is an emotional second chance romance story about two characters who have to find a way to put the past behind them. From the moment these characters met again, it was obvious they had not left their feelings behind. Even with everything else between them, their connection was undeniable.
With everything focused on the characters, the author created a great story around them. It was easy to read, engaging and lovely to watch the feelings between the characters develop. The whole way through the book I was hoping for their happy ending. This is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Want to learn about how to weather a hurricane? Oscar & Emmy live through one and tell us what it’s like. Also there’s information at the back of the book on actual hurricanes and then how to get through them. There’s also a pet disaster kit list at the back which I found interesting and useful. I think people will like this one, especially young children who are starting to read.
The Book of Fears: A Collection of Short Stories is 8 stories compiled of different people with different fears. Check your trigger warnings! A couple of stories are scary, and the others are downright creepy. Each story is short but really good by itself. I would definitely read each individual book if they ever became their own book. Definitely worth checking out.

An enjoyable and heartwarming contemporary romance which captivated me from the start. Adeline is a widow who was not looking for love when Owen came into her life. She hires her neighbour Owen as a contractor to help her renovate her house. Thinking him grumpy to begin with, she soon discovers that although he’s a man of few words, he’s the only one to make her grieving heart beat again. Owen knows of Adeline’s loss and thinks of her as a force of nature. He was only being neighbourly when he agreed to the renovations, but as the weeks fly by he finds himself falling for her. This is a sweet second chance at love story and the chemistry between Adeline and Owen really came across in the narrative. Set within a small town the main characters are likeable and relatable making it easy to feel invested in their love story.

This is the second in the House on the Hill series and I highly recommend reading the first book before picking this one up. I didn’t and I was confused…not in a “I have absolutely no idea what’s going on here” way, but more in a “I think this has already been explained and I missed it” way. I will say the beginning of the book is slow and it takes awhile to get in to it but once it does, you won’t want to put it down. I’m definitely going to go back and read the first book so that I can fill in some of the missing pieces to the story. If you are looking for a psychological thriller that will haunt you then pick up this book (and I’m going to go ahead and say series) because you won’t want to put it down. I love how Kummer writes his characters; they are extremely relatable…like live down the road, next-door-neighbor relatable. And the twists and turns of the plot line *chef’s kiss*

This is the second book in The House On The Hill Series. This is a great psychological thriller with hints of horror. This is the second book and you do definately need to read book 1- The Misery House to follow the story completely.
This was a gripping read right from the start. The author really does an amazing job of writing a story that captivates a reader and doesn’t let them go. I wasn’t able the put it down and the ending and left me wanting more.
This story continues a few weeks after the 1st book. Alison is still missing and Kaia doesn’t believe she is dead. Kaia takes it upon herself to keep search and is looking everywhere to find her uncovering some old town secrets along the way.
While she is searching people are going missing in the town and Sherif Wheeler is starting to struggle under the pressure.
Kaia’s search takes her to speak to the one man she never wanted to see again to find answers. After leaving random clues will Malaki finally give her something that will blow this whole thing wide open? Can he even he trusted? Is Alison still alive? And what exactly is happening in New Haven?
