This book brings us back into the world of Shattered Embrace…but with a twist.

Derek has been working his security firm and has decided to take down the mafia boss. To do so, and protect those he loves, he will be immersing himself into the world of Shattered Embrace. He finds himself teaching a class about power dynamics in a dom/sub relationship.

Justine is attending the power dynamics class as part of the research for her dissertation. While she believes that she is not a sub, she finds herself learning more about herself the more time she spends around Derek.

Jordan has played with Derek in the past at the club and is thinking about wanting a more exclusive relationship. When she is part of Derek’s class, she can see the way that he interacts with Justine and and triangular relationship develops.

However, when the mafia boss makes his move, Derek works hard to keep everyone he loves safe while working through which woman his heart really wants. The women want to help him however they can, including one of them willing to put themselves in the line of fire (so to speak) to bring the situation to an end.

This book was different than the other books in the series as there was the club atmosphere, relationships being formed, people opening themselves up and figuring out who they are, romance, and some suspense. New characters are introduced that I am hoping will be a part of future books. Overall, another good story in the series.
