Night Sweats and Hockey Nets (Hot Flash Hookups Series) by Sylvie Stewart and Marika Ray – Review by Christie Mitchum
Night Sweats and Hockey Nets by Marika Ray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Night Sweats and Hockey Nets is my favorite book in the Hot Flash Hookup series so far!
Nikolai is certainly not looking for love when he shares a kiss with a sexy woman in a bar. Chloe isn’t looking for love either, but neither can get that kiss out of their minds. Who knows what might have happened if Nikolai wasn’t interrupted by a phone call from his lawyer? They go their separate ways until they meet again, and Nikolai realizes exactly who Chloe is…his coach’s daughter. That means she is entirely off-limits. However, fate and a sweet, sassy little girl who plays matchmaker might have other plans.
I enjoyed the plot of the book. It was much different than other books about hockey players. Nikolai is well past his partying days, and he is facing retirement. In addition, he is fighting his ex-wife for more time to spend with his young daughter. Chloe has suffered a significant loss and is completely upending her life, moving back to be closer to her father and a career change. Their challenges make them relatable, and the obstacles to a relationship are realistic. Ultimately, I was so happy to see they got their happily ever after.
I love that the books in this series have incredible middle-aged women who are the heroines. They prove that love knows no age, and anyone can find their happily ever after no matter how old they are. As with all the other books, I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
