I admittedly have never read a steampunk genre book so I wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away by this story as the author must have done immense research.
Its the Victorian era, mid 1800s in France and we meet Jacky a studious serious mechanically inclined borderline genius and her sister Angie who is carefree has a zest for life and quite often needs to be bailed out by her sister in many questionable situations. They board a train, but the train ends up having a mechanical failure and Jackie is shocked to find its not run by normal means, and Jacky wants to figure out the mystery behind this train, this also leads them to uncover so many things including a war about to outbreak. Can these sisters stop the war before it starts?
This book was a lot of fun. Jacky and Angie did a lot of growing up as I got through the story and worked together like true twins do. I was fascinated by all of the true to history Victorian era items in the book and really enjoyed also the Paranormal that was part of this book and somehow this historical fiction and Paranormal and steampunk came together flawlessly with excellent attention to detail. This has opened my eyes to a new genre I’ll want to explore further.
