Luna the Husky cannot howl like her brothers and sisters,

And she can’t howl songs about the winter wind.

But something magical happens when she finds she’s not alone.

When she’s loved and understood, will she find her voice then?

You’ve seen Luna the Howling Husky in the Jake the Growling Dog series, but you don’t know her story! Introducing Luna the Howling Husky Finds Her Howl, the heartwarming tale of a little puppy who discovers her true voice in a world filled with love. This charming story follows Luna’s journey as she embarks on a new adventure, finding her howl and her forever family along the way.

Looking for books about accepting others, shyness in kids, and making friends?

Luna is soft and fluffy with big brown puppy eyes and loves to play in the snow. She’s different from the other huskies, because there’s one thing they say she can’t do right—howl. The quiet and fun-loving husky longs to find her unique voice and the happiness of truly expressing herself, but she doesn’t let it get her down. She plays and practices each day, but it just doesn’t come out.

Luna meets a shy friend and her world begins to change. There friendship helps them both, and Luna discovers the power of unconditional love and support as she is welcomed into a loving family. With their love, Luna’s confidence grows, as does her desire to unleash her howl upon the world.

From playful yips to joyous howls, Luna’s voice emerges, resonating through the hearts of her family and her new friend.

Samantha Shannon is a top-selling, American children’s book author and licensed educational counselor known for her Jake the Growling Dog picture book series. Ms. Shannon uses her background in education, love for nature and animals, and experience aiding in the healthy social-emotional development of children to create fun, impactful, and award-winning books.

With Samantha’s background in educational counseling, Jake’s stories focus on fun while also including important socio-emotional and character topics such as: friendship, kindness, mindfulness, diversity & inclusion, gratitude, sharing, disability awareness & loving-kindness and more. Each story includes fun and impactful activities for children, families, schools, & counselors centering on pure childhood fun, the topics touched on in the book, and encouraging creativity and imagination. Jake’s stories speak to all of us about accepting, and appreciating, the differences in others–both caring attitudes we need in our diverse and beautiful world.

When Samantha had her first child in 2009, she wanted to write a picture book based on her sister’s dog, Jake. While visiting her sister in the Pacific Northwest, Samantha realized that Jake growled all the time. He growled while playing frisbee, getting an ear rub, running, and even when he was sleeping! Despite his unusual choice of noisemaking, Jake is a sweet dog, which makes him the perfect character for a children’s picture book.

Samantha’s love for creatures great and small has led her to incorporate animals in all of the books- from eagles to cheetahs! Throughout her life, Samantha’s family has always included a dog, and they’ve always been more than pets. They were fur-brothers, sisters, and babies.

Samantha has also published multiple books under her pen name, Parker Sinclair, in the fantasy and YA genres. Samantha is not the UK based epic fantasy/YA fantasy author “Samantha Shannon” of the Bone Series.

Nothing was biting on the shore of Lake Fish-or-Cut-Bait. Not even the mosquitoes! A ravenous wind sucked up all the water from the lake. It sucked up the fishes and the frogs too. It even sucked up  balls from the playground. Then that ravenous wind headed toward town, blowing wind through the branches, and twisting up the playground swings. When that wind could hold no more, rain started falling. It wasn’t an ordinary rain. Balls fell on the steeple and rang the bell. Fish and frogs fell on cars in the streets. A fish even fell into the janitor’s wash bucket.  It was as if breakfast was landing on people’s doorsteps.

Terri Sabol is an accomplished children’s book author, renowned for her heartwarming and entertaining stories featuring the real-life adventures of her two beloved rescue kittens, Oscar and Emmy. Born and raised in Texas, Terri developed a love of writing and storytelling at a young age, and always dreamed of one day becoming an author. Thinking that was out of reach, she focused on her other dream… teaching.

After graduating from college with a Masters degree in education, Terri worked as an early childhood teacher, and it was during this time that her passion for picture books truly blossomed. She was inspired by the joy and wonder that children experienced when reading and listening to stories, and it was this love for inspiring young minds that led her to create her own series of children’s books.

Terri’s debut book, “Oscar and Emmy Get Rescued”, was published in 2016, and told the heartwarming story of how she came to adopt her two kittens from the animal shelter where she volunteered. The book was an instant hit with children and parents alike, and it quickly became clear that there was a demand for more stories featuring Oscar and Emmy and to help educate children on the importance being involved in pet care.

Over the years, Terri has continued to write new books in the series, each one capturing the unique personalities and quirks of her two adventurous cats. Her books not only entertain children, but also promote the values of compassion and kindness towards animals, as well as the importance of rescue and adoption.

In addition to her Oscar and Emmy series, Terri has also written several other books showing off her writing skills, including “Green With Envy” and “Kneading a Winning Idea”.

When she’s not writing, Terri can be found spending time with her two rescue kitties, Oscar and Emmy. She also loves travelling and exploring new places and visiting old favorites, all the while taking inspiration for her next book. Through her stories, Terri hopes to inspire children to explore the world around them, to embrace their imaginations, to never give up on their goals, and to always be kind and compassionate towards others, especially animals.

  1. L. Small is the author of fantasy stories for the young and the young at heart, including A Dress To Remember: A Fairy Tale, the Brass Ring fantasy novels for young readers, and the Strand trilogy for young adults. She was born in Queens, New York, the oldest of nine children.

She was an avid reader as a child, and her father often told her “to get your nose out of that book and go outside.” While she did go outside, she never lost her love of reading, especially horse stories and fantasy novels. Some of her treasured possessions are several much-loved books by Marguerite Henry. She has taken one of the books, Five O’clock Charlie, into classrooms for the Great American Teach-In and shared the story with children, along with the letter she received from Ms. Henry in response to her fan letter to the author.

She attended Binghamton University, starting as a Creative Writing major. After earning a master’s degree from Syracuse University, she spent her professional career in the electric utility business in a variety of roles, ranging from environmental work, community relations, communication, and change management.

They own two horses: an off-the-track Thoroughbred named Rory and an American mustang called Skylark. They share the barn with three cats named after the Golden Girls: Blanche, Dorothy, and Rose. A fourth cat, Stan, has decided to join the barn crew.

Sometimes when you dream, it takes a while for it to become a reality. I have wanted to write books since I was a little girl and fell in love with my hometown library. I read books at school, at home, in bed, and even in the bathtub. I just couldn’t get enough of faraway places, brave heroes and heroines, and the experience of getting lost in a new and amazing adventure in each book. Through the years, I became the owner of a preschool, a public librarian, a school librarian, and a children’s yoga teacher but no matter what I did I shared stories with children. Finally, at age 62, I published my first book but I know it won’t be my last.

He steals crops and animals from farmers as he walks around holding up the sky. Nobody but Colleen believes him. One day, she invites the kids in her class to a party. Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.

Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children, four grandchildren and a dog.
