Anna is certainly an interesting person. She reads her grandfathers journal from back in WW2 Era and while we’re reading this, she also travels in present time unraveling so much more. This book consists of a lot of mystery as well as being pulled left and right and yourself debating the choices. It definitely kept me for a loop and kept me interested till the end. Truly a great book to read with history.

Honestly, I looked at this book a few times before I decided to commit. It is right up my alley, what with the main character being far from normal, though the synopsis certainly didn’t do it justice. This author weaves a story full of colourful notes, flavors, personalities, life goals and dreams.
Austin and Ember are two halves made whole from the moment they laid eyes on each other. It’s a tale as old as time, the zing that made the air sizzle. I loved the way the reader feels so connected to Ember, anticipating thoughts and hardships, and rooting for her along the way. Austin has this winning personality and just wants to help, and won’t take no for an answer. Truly, I loved the way their story blooms, and the way Austin, Ray, and Joel are there, becoming more like her family, every step of the way! I felt like I was in Kai watching this story unfold, and I cannot wait to continue on this beautiful adventure with the next installment. Read it, you won’t be disappointed!
This is a sweet romance novel. Focused as a historical novel, the main character comes to town as a mail order bride. I love the fact that the groom is a no-show but his brother is an identical twin and their dad is the matchmaker. This made the plot very entertaining and this a truly fascinating and fun read. Quick read for those cold nights tucked under a blanket with a hot toddy or hot chocolate. The characters are well-written and so relatable. You can feel their angst. It was nice to read a happy and inspirational romance. I love to have those thrown in. Since this is Book 1 in the series, I can’t wait for the next one to come out. I’m hooked.
This book was so much more than I expected! I love how relatable the story is even with it being paranormal fantasy. Ember is rightfully cautious with people to protect herself and her family. Austin is completely smitten with her which is completely understandable. This story is not all rainbows and butterflies which makes me love it even more. I am so excited for book 2!
Ember is an amazing chef and a swan Shifter. She wants her sisters to come home. Austin is a tv personality with a broken down RV who stumbles across her restaurant Kai. He wants to bring her into the limelight. Will her sisters see? Her food is amazing and she is beautiful! Austin quickly falls for beautiful Ember as she falls for him just the same. They are so crazy for each other. Super steamy! A really good read.

This novel is so amazing that it simply leaves you wanting more. It was such an amazing story and written so beautifully that I simply can’t wait to read the other installments. Full of mystery, secrets, intrigue, and more I just simply couldn’t put this book and it’s wonderful characters down and I finished it in a matter of a few hours. Both of our characters come from backgrounds of heartache, and the struggle is very real, but will Ember and Austin be able to overcome everything to make it work? This is my first time reading this author but I can promise that it won’t be my last. This story and the authors writing took me on such an increible ride that not only can I not wait for the next installment but this just became my book of the year.
This book was one simple word, amazing! While I was expecting a good rom com with maybe some drama and tension mixed in, I was not expecting this book to have such realistic characters that made you fall in love with the entire story. This was a first time author for me but it will not be my last. The characters were both realistic and fantastic, the plot was intriguing and fast-paced, with plenty of romance to go around. Full of friends, loves, and enemies this book had me hooked from page one until the very end, I just simply couldn’t put it down. So if your looking for a new rom com this week then perhaps you should pick up a copy if this book and join Krista and Brock in this realistic rom com story.

The Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III was very well written. DeBlassie uses such beautifully descriptive words in his character development and plot building. Although a work of fiction, the religions of the archbishop and the medicine women of Aztlan in The Unholy bear striking similarities to modern religions of today. This book is terrifying in its possibilities and will make you think about Religion and the battle between religions in a new way. Claire, although trying to distance herself from her medicine woman heritage, finds herself the enemy of the Archbishop Anarch simply because of who she is and what she represents. This book was definitely out of the realm of normal for me as far as genre, but it was a great read and I look forward to reading more from Paul DeBlassie.

The Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III. This was a very deep interesting book. Its the story of Clarie who is a native medicine women who comes from a long line of medicine women. She is also academically trained in Psychology so that she can help the patients at a nearby Psychiatric hospital. While Claire works at the hospital she is one of a few of Drs who isn’t a member of the Anarch’s congregation. She is very committed to her patients and not real happy with the way the hospital handles some of them. Claire is also in a battle with the Archbishop which no one dares to do. This book opens your eyes to the corruption and darkness in some religions! Claire’s mother was only 25 when she watched her mother be violently killed due to the Anarch’s. Clarie has been very reluctant to continue her mom’s job of being a medicine woman because of this. As Claire tries to dig into the corruption of the church will she survive what she finds out? Read The Unholy to find out!

Amber Tatum puts up the least amount of Christmas decorations in her bar that her employees with let her. Giovanni moves to town with his daughter to start fresh and take over his grandmother’s café. When Gio walks into Amber’s bar, they are instantly attracted to each other. This story made me giggle at times and made my eyes fill with tears at others. I was rooting for them from the beginning. Hoping Amber would be able to get over her past and enjoy Christmas again. Hoping Gio could love someone again after a divorce that left him raising an infant. This was a very enjoyable read that makes me look forward to having my family around me for Christmas.

An amazing writer! Although this is a fiction novel, it feels realistic. The author does a great job of making the fantasy part relatable and entertaining as well as the normal human part of things. Read this book if you want to be entertained, if you love being on the edge of your seat, and you love underdog stories.
Black Canvas by Laura Rossi. This book was so amazing. I started it and didn’t want to put it down. Its my favorite genre so I was excited to read it and was not disappointed at all. Its the story of Dr. Aria De Luca forensic psychiatrist who helps the local police department. She has taken a sabbatical from work due to the death of one of her patients to suicide and her own divorce. Mattias who is her artistic neighbor seems to always be there for her but he has his own secrets. Her main goal in her work is to help women who have been treated to the worst kinds of people and once her new patient comes in and she starts to delve into her life she begins to think that maybe their is a gang of men preying on these young women. The deeper she digs into the secrets, lies and mysteries of this group the more dangerous it becomes. I thought I had this book figured out about 1/2 way thru but boy was I wrong. If you like dark, psychological thrillers you have come to the right place, just be prepared to not put it down once you start. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time!

Great psychological thrillers are more than just fun reads, they can be mind-bending and incredible journeys! The most trying jobs are the ones that test you not only physically but mentally, as Aria soon learns, when she discovers the monsters under her patients’ beds aren’t all fiction. If you decide to read this book, be prepared to take a trip down the metaphorical rabbit hole. I love how the beginning of the novel sets up the rest of the story so well, and once you really start getting into the book, the twist and turns never stop coming. When a story keeps you on that rollercoaster, sometimes you get an ending that’s just meh…not in this book!

Wow. Most people experience bullying at least once in their life time. Some people more often or more severe than others. This book touches on how it can affect a person and really describes the anxiety and panic well. It’s very relatable and is a real growing up novel. I would suggest this book to anybody who likes reading about drama, deception, and betrayal. The plot is fantastic!

This was a wonderful Paranormal Romance and well built I look forward to the next one!
Ember Ngata is a young female shifter from New Zealand of Maori descent, she is in fact the direct descendent from their god Tane, an individual who was part god and part bird and Ember is also part bird, a Whakamanu, one of the only remnants of her tribe who were decimated and have been in Wyoming, hiding ever since. Embers passion is food, it connects her to things she has lost and so she has the dream of making the restaurant she owns and works in a success, but the more people who pass through and never return, the more lonely she feels, especially since her sisters had to leave, she misses them and just wants them home again.
Austin Garten is a television celebrity, he is best known and currently working as the host on the TV show Back Road Eats and has been travelling in an old RV with the rest of his crew sampling the cuisine of the US. However, there is only so much barbecue, pizza and pasta that he can take and he has become slowly more and more bored by the cuisine of Breadbasket America, so when their RV breaks down in Wyoming, they have to take an enforced break and it couldn’t be more welcome.
When Austin receives a recommendation for a Maori restaurant in the area called Kai, he is more then ready for a change of pace and so the crew go there the next day to see what this new kind of cuisine has to offer, however, when he encounters the hostess, he finds more than he bargained for. As soon as Ember sees some new faces who are not her regular clientele, she is happy and when she finds someone attractive as well as someone who enjoys his food, Ember finds a new sense of happiness, albeit tempered by worry and fear at the same time.
As the days pass and Ember and Austin spend more time together, the heat between them increases, but as the Maori New Year and the Solstice approaches, Ember struggles to hide her true nature from Austin, but what would happen if she finally let someone in on her secret, would it end in acceptance or disaster? This is a story of choices and consequences, risk and reward, as well as a sprinkling of magic where nothing is certain and is going all in a risk worth taking?
This is a cute little story. The story rolled along nicely and I liked the idea of it. I did struggle to connect to the characters. I almost felt they were a bit two dimensional and needed just a bit more to bring them to life.
While this is the fifth in the series it can easily be read as a stand alone. Its a classic story of a grumpus on Christmas who meets the holly jolly. How they meet, get along and who does the changing. I really liked Gio but felt that Amber is wishy washy and she overcame her issue too easily

Piper and Noah are magical together. This is such a beautiful, action action packed romance. The first meeting between Piper and Noah is magical and also hilarious at the same time. Sparks fly but it takes some work for both of them to accept the truth even thought the chemistry is undeniable. The author does such an amazing job of describing when they shift that I can see it all unfolding in front of me. This is more than a book, it’s a journey that you take along with the amazing characters in this story, The legends and shamanism sprinkled throughout add to the beauty of it all. I really enjoyed the bits and pieces I learned about their friends along the way and now I can’t wait to read their stories and learn more about them.

This book was chilling. The trauma displayed in the teenage girl’s life is haunting. Let’s just talk about that first. I turned every page just WAITING for it to get better! But wait, there is so much more to this book! I like the way the author gets us twisted into the love story, and shows us how ignorant we can be as young lovers (don’t forget about the old people too, sheesh)! The ending was so unpredictable for me! This book was great though at putting you in the shoes of your teenager, and I will be paying closer attention to mine!

Wow! This is an original psychological masterpiece – it gets inside your skull and worms around until you are completely hooked. Aria De Luca is a forensic psychiatrist seeking to help women who have been subjected to the worst of humanity. At the start of this book, she is back in action for the first time since the difficult loss of a patient to suicide. As she starts unravelling what happened to her new patient, whose memory has been damaged due to trauma, she realizes that these abusers may be part of an organized group targeting young, pretty women. The case sets off something in Aria, who becomes obsessed with getting deeper into the case. As Aria spirals down into the seedy world, her psyche starts to fissure. Trying to figure this one out as you turn the pages faster and faster will have you staying up til the wee hours to get to the bottom of it!

After the first few chapters you will be drawn in to the intriguing plot as Anna begins to discover family secrets and search for questions unanswered. The Author has a writing style that is informative as well as entertaining, and provides us with historical facts along the way.
I am always pulled towards any kind of works written about WWII, I recommend reading this book if you are as well, as I found that I could not put it down!

“Aren’t we all a little crazy?”. If you’ve never thought this before, you will after reading this book. I was instantly intrigued from reading the synopsis, but didn’t quite know what to expect. Whatever preconceived notions I had of this book fell way short of how amazing it actually was. I am extremely stingey with my 5 star ratings, but this deserved it!

This is a sweet story about a stray kitty that finds herself adopted into a loving and supportive family. Through a series of adventures, she comes to understand that being great is more about loving people and being loved back than by material gains. Through the act of love and compassion towards others, we all can be great individuals. I found this to be an understandable way to introduce compassion towards others in children with colorful childlike illustrations.

This is a fast paced and exciting book, pulling you in from the moment you start reading. I would suggest reading this series in order for a full enjoyment although this book is a great read in its own right. I really enjoyed Delta and Jacksons story. They were easy to connect with as characters and really made the book even better. The story is definitely fast paced. I found myself flying through the book, then wishing I hadn’t so it would last a bit longer. This is a great addition to an already strong series and I am looking forward to book 4.

What a brilliant book. This author had already firmly established herself as one of my must v read authors and this books is the perfect example of why. I thoroughly enjoyed this period romance set around the holidays. It’s one of those sweet, innocent romances that has just the perfect balance – wonderful character development, scene-setting that builds a world without being overly descriptive, and a genuine story. The author did a great job weaving a historical tale of a young woman setting off for adventure as a mail-order bride in the Wild West and the family who takes her in as one of their own. Such an engaging story, I read it almost completely straight through.
