Kissing the Kavalier by Annette Nauraine. This was a great book. I loved every page. Its the story of Countess Zdenka Waldner who is doing everything she can to save her family farm. She is also trying to find her sister, Arabella a suitable husband. Zdenka sees no other way to do that unless she pretends she is a man so she can chaperone her sister. When they meet Lt. Matteo von Ritter who is recently back from the war sparks fly between Matteo and Arabella. Little does he know that when he hires a messenger to take letters back and forth to Arabella its her sister Zdenka. Instead of letting Arabella write back to Matteo Zdenka takes matters in her own hands and answers them. Zdenka ends up falling in love with Matteo and doesn’t know what to do about it. Will he forgive her and will they be able to have a relationship? Will Zdenka find Arabella a beau or will Matteo choose Arabella? Read this great book to find out!

Witness is book nine of Meghan O’Flynn’s ‘Ash Park’ series but each book can be read as a standalone story. This gritty fast paced crime thriller had me gripped from page one and had so many clever twists and turns that it kept me hooked and guessing until the very last page. The main character, Detective Edward Petrosky is a great character who has so many layers to him and an intriguing backstory of his own. The authors detailed descriptions made me feel immersed in the story and I felt as though I was there along side Detective Petrosky. Having seen many horrors in his career, Detective Petrosky is relieved when he gets a call about a burglary. However he soon realises that it’s no ordinary housebreak when he discovers considerable amount of blood at the scene, although the house owner doesn’t appear to be injured. The victim of the burglary is in fact a man who had been accused of sexual assault in the past and who has a dangerous family. To complicate the case further the suspect is a women who apparently died along with her husband in a fire ten years earlier. Petrosky is also concerned about his surrogate daughter and the wife of his murdered partner as they appear to be at the centre of a conspiracy and Shannon’s life is at stake. This has a fast paced storyline and a complicated plot which kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and this one was no different. A great read, which I fully recommend.

I loved this book so, so much. Historical romance is my favourite genre to read, I love being transported back and the author did an AMAZING job with this story. The detail she went into was incredible and I really felt like I was right there with the characters at times. Countess Zdenka Waldner was a fantastic heroine to read about – I loved her from the very beginning. I loved that the author included explanations of some of the words using during the story, it meant that it was easy to read for me and definitely helped with the flow of the story too. I 100% recommend this story – it was a wonderful read and I cannot wait to read more from Ms Naurarine again in the future.

This was an enjoyable read once I started I just couldn’t put it down was a great escape from reality! I am very much loving this series and I’m eager to read more! I do have a soft spot for second chance romances they always seem to hit the spot and I love that even though time has passed there’s always that chance you can be with the one you always loved! Highly recommend.

The Tears of Boabdil by Neil MacDonald is an intriguing crime story with a bit of a psychological component. The author weaves a tight, complex, and layered tale full of intrigue, drama, secrets, lies, blurred lines, duel ‘realities’, terrorists, espionage, romance, and more. The author cleverly crafts a story where the lines between reality and the stories that our MC weaves become blurred. Fact and fiction spiralling together. Vince is a seasoned undercover operative who spends most of his time creating ‘reality’ with his ‘identities’, stories and lies. His story telling skills will be invaluable as he is assigned to infiltrate a terrorist group as an Islamic extremist. When he meets the sister of the groups leader, things take a complicated turn. Real life and undercover work merge, creating thought-provoking issues and complexities. This story has me thinking about it, the developments, and the duality aspect of the story, long after I finished- and pondering the conclusion. I am still unsure of how to review this book- except to say that it is definitely worth the read, especially if you like a creative and thought provoking story.

The world Beyond the Walls is the third and final book in the Natural Forces series by Jean Gill. It is another original and creative YA fantasy adventure story- with magic, shifters, politics, action, drama, danger, environmental themes, good vs evil, tension, interesting quirky characters, and wonderful world-building. There’s also a bit of a dystopian feel to this fantasy story/series which adds another layer of interest to the world. If you haven’t read the other two books yet, I highly recommend that you do, before starting on this one. There are a lot of details and threads which flow through to this book. So knowing what happened in the first two books will definitely enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this story. As with the previous books, this a wonderfully detailed and descriptive story which has had plenty of thought, skill, heart, and soul put into its creation. Reading was more like ‘watching’ everything unfold, as the imagery was so well crafted. Well worth the read! Looking forward to seeing what Jean Gill does next.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by Nemechek. Nemechek knows how to keep readers coming back to read her work. Short, sweet, and funny.
Jessie is the rancher’s daughter and she’s spoiled. She’d been hurt before by a cowboy so she’s being picky on her next one. If they can’t handle her then she didn’t want to be with them. Along comes Tuck and things change. The quote I chose for Jessie is: “That’s true, I did. And I will say it again. Tuck McGraw, I love you. Let’s get married in Vegas.”
Tuck is a former Army Ranger and now he’s going for the gold buckle. He wants to follow his dad’s footsteps and he’s going to be doing it. Going to Vegas has been a dream of his since he was little. The quote I chose for Tuck is: “We will just see about that once we get back to the ranch.”

10 Days by K.J. Holliday is a fun romantic comedy with a camping theme. This is my first read by K.J. Holliday, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in, but when this showed up on my recommended book list the title caught my attention which made me read the blurb to find out what it was about. The camping/survival theme, as well as one of the main characters being an author, really sold me on the story and I couldn’t wait to discover what lay between the covers. But I must admit that I probably wouldn’t have found this book on my own, if it had not been on that list- and I am glad that it was as I have discovered another new-to-me author to add to my reading list. Alexander Jones is a bestselling author who is in the process of writing his second book, which isn’t going too well as he has a bad case of writer’s block. In the hope of inspiring some fresh ideas, Alex’s best friend, Luke, suggests a 10 day camping trip into the wilds. Since his story is set in the wilderness, Luke thought it would help if Alex, a complete city boy, experienced ‘survival’. As you can imagine, Alex is rather reluctant- but eventually he is persuaded to give it a try. Luke’s childhood friend and camping companion, Penny, is also along for the adventure (which is the highlight of the trip as far as Alex is concerned)….. and so, the story begins. What happens on the camping trip made for an entertaining read, with plenty of fun, banter, and sarcasm- which kept things fairly light-hearted- but the author managed to sprinkle in a little unexpected drama that kept things interesting. There were a few moments that made me wince, where the wording felt awkward and out of place with the rest of the story- but thankfully this didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the book.

Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock is an enchanting YA fantasy that pulled me into a mythical meets reality world. A wonderful book for adults as well. The book changes perspectives between it’s core characters who are coming of age: Miriam, Peter, and Seth. This gives a well rounded perspective into the magical world within the world, Edenia. These characters are faced with family tensions, tests of faith and trust while battling their founding perspective of the world as they have known it.
The inhabitants of Edenia refer to their individual magic as their nature. Each person living there has a unique nature of an elemental variety. However even where things aren’t quite the norm compared to the rest of the world, anything outside of what is traditionally acceptable isn’t seen in a good light. This causes Miriam to face dejection from the only community she has known. The slight nods towards religion (Hello Garden of Eden and Tree of Life!) are subtle and give this story a strong original element that is refreshing while also peeking the readers curiosity.
The characters are strong and have individual depth. Angsty outsider Seth, who is absorbed in uncovering the truth of the lies his father has told his family. Then there is Miriam trying to control her still new nature while faced with isolation and loss of autonomy. Naturally, Seth and Miriam develop a romance that only adds to the complexity of their lives. There is also the point of view of Miriam’s brother Peter. Peter is desperately trying to save his sister while struggling to come into his power.
The story is really well woven for the readers. The characters’ conflicts will have anyone drawn in and questioning their own perspective. The ending is a well done cliff hanger. Personally, I would recommend the book and definitely am looking for the second installment.

This book starts with a boy watching a woman giving birth in the presence of “Father” under his watchful gaze, just like all of the other times this had happened, but he couldn’t say or do anything because it would make him angry and that is the last thing he wanted to do.Detective Petrosky and his partner go to investigate a burglary, it is something lighter than the usual predators and their victims, but when he sees an expensive looking watch on the table and nothing else being disturbed, apart from some broken picture frames and a whole lot of blood, it’s looking highly likely that the break in was just secondary, especially with who had their house broken into. This new case brings back memories of a old one where domestic abuse was involved until the victim had had time to decompress and quickly retracted their statement and decided not to press charges, but as they question the owner of the house, his answers don’t tally with the evidence inside and it is the same thing when they talk to the neighbour who called it in, her description of the person she saw running away from the house is the same as a case from the past, but the person who is being described is dead adding yet more questions than answers to the case, especially when the blood results come back as a match for the dead person as well, which makes them a lot more alive.
As they try to find more leads to follow, the case becomes more and more bizarre and more questions than answers keep popping up, especially when the dead woman was kidnapped and involved in a car accident not too long before she died in a warehouse fire with her husband a brother in law, even more frustrating is that the case file has disappeared, so they decide to go and talk to someone who was involved. While talking to them, similarities between the dead woman and the domestic abuse victims cases appear, but it still doesn’t give any more clarification, just more questions again. As Petrosky finds out more about the family of the burglary victim, he gets an increasingly bad feeling that there is more to the case than meets the eye, but when he finds out that an old partner was involved in the original case, it leads to more suspicion, but these questions are not ones to be answered as the individual died, but his widow might be able to shed some light on it. When Petrosky suddenly comes across Shannon in the course of the investigation, even though she lives nowhere nearby, she tells him some information which shocks him.
Will Petrosky be able to solve the crime and the mystery surrounding a woman who is supposed to be dead and why she came back, all while battling to keep himself from getting too involved, especially when the case is so close to home? This is a thriller which will keep you guessing until the end and is as action packed as it can be as the detectives try to untangle the web of lies and deceit they find themselves in the middle of.

4-stars
This second chance romance read was highly entertaining and had me connected with the characters right from the get go. While I didn’t particularly agree with the characters actions, I did love all of the detail. This author wrote a seamless story that flowed really well with realistic characters and story lines that tugged at my heartstrings.
I connected with Dre from the beginning, her no non sense attitude and big heart were admirable. Because I connected with her I ended up reading this book in one sitting, I couldn’t wait to see how her story would play out, and I was not disappointed.
This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9) by Meghan O’Flynn
4-stars
Witness is the ninth book in Meghan O’Flynn’s Ash Park series, a series that I would recommend reading in order as each new book sort of follows the last.
From book 1 I was hooked by this storyline and the incredible characters, this author has managed to create a whole dark, deceiving, traumatic, evil and mysterious world with characters that feel so real and relatable. Though I can’t relate to the crimes I can absolutely relate to these complex characters, I have felt invested in their lives for so long and with each new book I feel more connected. I have loved following along with each of their journeys and seeing how they’ve evolved and changed as characters.
These storylines always have me sitting on the edge of my seat trying to piece everything together, with zero success most of the time. I’m always entertained which make these books a must read! I look forward to reading more from this author and this series asap.

Witness (Ash Park Series Book 9) by Meghan O’Flynn
5 Stars
I cant believe how much I love this series. This book was a perfect addition and I truly believe this would be an awesome mini series or even weekly series on TV.
This one was not an easy read, and I’ll admit I got lost a few times, having to stop and even go back to keep names straight. I had no problem with this because I was so into the story it made sense I wanted to keep things in order. There was a lot going on and even more to keep track of and I loved every second of it.
The end was not what I had expected and this is why I’m so invested in this series and this author. It’s amazing how she can twist and turn the words the way she does. Thankfully there was not too much describing some of what went on, but what was revealed had me cringing at times.
You could read this as a standalone, but Petrosky has quite a story in the books leading up to this one and I’m glad I have read all those that came before. The relationship between Petrosky and his partner is one of my favorites of all time.
I can not wait for the next and I truly hope we have many more to come.

Tuck wants nothing more than to follow his father’s example and win the Golden Buckle at the Rodeo. When the news that he is going to Las Vegas to take part in the National Final’s reaches him, he couldn’t be more thrilled. One big spanner in the works or horseshoe slammed against his head repeatedly, is Jessie. She is the boss’s daughter and is one spoiled mess of a handful, causing him problems whenever she is around. He can’t stand her, and though she looks good, he can’t get past her ugly heart. Problem is, Jessie isn’t really as spoilt as she comes across, she’s just prickly on the outside to protect her wounded heart from been broken again and though she wants Tuck, she cannot bring herself to open up. I want to say first off that this story was not for me. It wasn’t that I hated it, or anything like that, but the story and the setting are not really things that I enjoy reading and for that reason I just struggled to get into this. However, people that love a good steamy romance, with the fire and crackle of a hate to love romance will enjoy this. I will say though, that the story could have gotten away with been longer. I think that the relationship and some of the story beats at times felt a little bit rushed, and a longer book could have given them space to breathe a little and develop in a way that felt a bit more natural. Still, I will say that Nemechek packed a lot into a short story and did it well, even if at times it did feel a bit rushed and for anyone that is looking for a short steamy number, this is definitely for you.

So, this tale had a nostalgic feel to it, one that took me back to how it felt to be falling in love for the first time, and how those feelings can stay with you. It’s a monumental thing falling in love for the first time, and I got to say that my heart broke for Ash and Calla and I wished for their happy ending. Capello has a wonderful way of writing that is so delicate and soft handling the hearts of her characters with the care they deserve, whilst still dealing the heavy blows of reality. Ashton is at a monumental crossroads in his life, with a weighty decision before him that could make or break him. The last thing he needs is for things to get more tangled. But then it does, because Calla comes back into his life, after five years, she is just there, and she hasn’t changed. And neither have his feelings for her. Neither of them can deny that, though everything has changed for them, nothing in the way they want each other has, and over the summer they fall back in love. But if things were difficult then, they feel impossible now. Both know that the real world is waiting to sneak in and drag them back into reality, where their loyalties are pulled in different directions, away from each other. I just thought that this was a beautiful read that literally made my heart explode with all the feels. Capello has written a wonderful tale that taps into the very heart of what it is like to fall in love all over again. I just adored every second of this and I know that anyone else reading it will too. It’s just so lovely.

So, I have listened to the first book in this series on Audiobook, and I was thoroughly impressed by that, now, by no logic that I can ever explain I have hopped, skipped, and jumped to book 4. Though missing out quite a big portion of the story so far, I have got to say that Schneider does an amazing job of getting you up to speed, I didn’t feel lost and got the sense that the book could stand alone if it absolutely had to. Still, I would recommend reading the series in order, at least to limit any potential confusion. Badass Dhalia Nite is back, kicking ass and taking names. As always have got to love the character, she is witty, sassy, and self-assured, and also not an idiot, which is so nice to read. Doing what she does best, Dahlia keeps the streets safe from all manner of nasty beasties. But she notices that something isn’t quite right, with monsters pouring in from, what feels like, every available angle, she fears that she and her new team may not be enough to stop the destruction. I really enjoyed this book, and it was interesting to see how far Dahlia had developed, even though through my own stupidity I’d missed out on half of it. Gotta say that I absolutely adored this read and would recommend it to anyone that loves a fair whack of action and mystery. Schneider just knows how to drop you into a scene, making everything so vivid, it feels like you are actually there. She is a fantastic writer and I look forward to reading more of her work.

5 stars! Excellent! Loyalty & Lies is the 6th book in the Spicetopia series and it really amazes me that there is still so much more that can be made with these books, so many more stories to tell. Calvin and Paisley are so sweet together. I love that Calvin is so obsessed and in love with his wife, even when the 2 beautiful women, or the evil nasties as I like to think of them, are all over him, in the back of his mind he doesn’t want to do anything without his wife’s consent, and without her being there really. I was sad to learn of Beau’s roll in everything, it seemed like him and Paisley really got along and that he was a genuinely nice guy. I was sad for Paisley, being pregnant, on a beautiful island in a fun resort and amusement park and having no body to share it with, at one point I thought she was going to throw in the towel and go home, but she can’t bring herself to leave because she knows something is really wrong. The outcome was sweet and I really enjoyed this adventure, I also loved seeing the previous characters coming around. Bring on the next one!

Strings Attached by Loriana Cappello is not your average musician romance novel. In Strings Attached, we see two people who have always had a thing for one another but have never been able to tell the other due to outside circumstances. Calla Bryson is back in town for the summer leading up to her final year of University. She’s not ruling out a summer “hook up” but isn’t looking for anything serious, but that all changes when Ashton Chambers, Ash, comes back into her life; helping her after she run headfirst into a lamp post. The two reestablish their friendship while secretly harboring feelings for each other. All the while Ash has to weigh whether he should finish up his last year of Uni or if he should sign his band, Koolum Law, with a record label that has been showing interest. Can their blossoming romance survive the trials and tribulations of everyday life as well as one of them becoming famous?
I really enjoyed this take on the musician romance trope. I liked the characters and enjoyed reading about how they were still growing up on their own, as well as how they grew as a couple. This novel does have a bunch of British/English slang that had me utilizing Google to understand what was going on. There is sexual tension between Cal and Ash, and we get a few sex scenes, but half of the time the scenes are more “fade to black” than explicit. This romance also was more of a slow burn, with the sexual and romantic tension carrying the first quarter of the book. Per Loriana’s Afterward, I look forward to reading more about the side characters in future novels, as well as what comes next for Ash and Cal.

It’s a quick read once you get into the story line as I was able to complete it in about 3 hours. It’s a cute romantic story and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. I loved how the writer didn’t seem to make a relationship the goal for the characters. Instead, they had other goals and frustrations that they were dealing with, anxiety being one of them. I could totally relate to this as it is something I too deal with in my own life. The characters were likable, the book had a great plot, and it was hilarious without being that cheesy romantic rom-com. I found this book to be a fun, light, and easy to read book. It was also easy to put down and pick back up without having to remember a lot of details so I could get right back to the story. The author has a way with words that pulled me into the story and made me want to keep reading. In fact, there were some lines that I had to stop and reread because the insight from the author was so amazing. It is definitely a great book, so I highly recommend you add this to your list.

If you are looking for a quick read with great character development, Shannon Nemechek’s 8 Second Ride is for you. The story opens with Tuck McGraw in a panic. He is running behind for work at the Four Leaf Ranch, and dreaded the possibility of being the errand boy for Jessie Flanagan. Jessie was the snobby daughter that felt the need to flaunt her body and money to impress others. When Tuck arrives, he discovers that he made the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Liam decided to give a party that evening in Tuck’s honor. Just as Tuck is feeling at the top of the world, along comes Jessie, and he has been assigned the task of taking her shopping in town. On the way to town, Tuck begins to give her a reality check of how he thought she was ugly inside. Unfortunately, on the ride back, Tuck receives a call from the PBR. His trip was completely paid for, but Jessie interrupts the call and adds herself and her best friend to the list. How will Tuck handle the sudden intrusion of Jessie with his future in the rodeo circuit? Why does she want to go?
The character development of this book is a favorite feature of mine. The back story and motivation for Tuck flow well with his actions throughout the story. I was surprised at the abrupt ending as it left me wanting to read more. This is a book for mature adults; the profanity and sexual innuendos are not appropriate for young adults. This is a book that made me feel like everyone should follow their dreams no matter how difficult they may be to achieve.

This is a quick novella that can be read while having lunch. Tuck wants his 8 second ride of fame to win the belt buckle. He wants to make his family proud. Tuck is late for work and he’ll probably be stuck with the boss’s daughter again. It wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t a spoiled brat. He could think of a lot of things he would like to do with her. Jesse has been in love with Tuck since she first laid eyes on him. She needs to know if he is worth it. So she’s putting him to the test. The chemistry is there but can he prove himself?
I kind of felt like I was watching an episode of Yellowstone. I had no patience for Jesse and found that she had a weird way of showing that she loved Tuck. That being said, the book was well written. If you like cowboys, you’ll enjoy this story.

Strings Attached by Loriana Cappello is a rockstar, second chance romance. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I really enjoyed it!
Calla and Ash have history and now they are back in each other’s lives. Of course, the timing is not stellar as Ash has a decision to make and Calla being back in his life adds one more thing to consider. This time around they agree – no promises. Neither of them can guarantee anything and maybe if they don’t make any promises, no one gets hurt. Calla and Ash want different things but Will Ash convince Calla to take a chance?
I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything. There were sweet moments and angst. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Professor Valentine is a student/teacher romance by Diana Vale. I love a forbidden story and this one was a cracker. Cassie is experiencing university life and enjoying every moment of it. Diego is her lecturer and soon becomes her obsession. Their attraction is fiery and intense. The forbidden element of their relationship is what I love the most. I love the taboo and cannot get enough of the genre. This little novella was a beauty and it was such a thrilling read. Diana Vale delivered a sexy story and I am really looking forward to reading more from this new to me author . 4 stars.

This is the 9th book in the Ash Park series and its just as good as the previous books. The stories are all gripping, full of twists and turns and it keeps you guessing from start to end. I love the character of Detective Petrosky. He is a hard character to get to know and love. With a history of alcoholism and a relapse he finds life hard but he still does his job 100% leaving no stone unturned.
This book starts with a simple breaking and entering case but as Petrosky and his partner Jackson start to dig deeper they start to unravel a mystery that leads them into a dark criminal world and also leads them to look closer to home.
It’s a really gripping story with twists that you won’t see coming.

I really like a change of pace and haven’t picked up a western romance in a while. This one didn’t disappoint. This is a new author for me and I enjoyed her writing style very much. I found this to be a quick and enjoyable romance, the perfect afternoon pick me up.

This quick forbidden love novella felt like it was over as soon as it started. Just a very quick read but not in a negative fashion. Easy to start and easy to finish. Vale is a new author to me and I found her writing to be well planned, easy to follow, and good character development.

Holmes is an extremely gifted author. Her attention to detail is so superior that the reader cannot help but wonder if they have not in fact time traveler. The imagery and setting are so vivid it is sometimes difficult not to feel completely immersed. I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt and love this exploration of a time and place that has always seemed so rich in history so different from my own. Another masterpiece.

Meghan O’Flynn is a genius. It’s that simply. Hands down, this series gets better with every book – something I’m simply unprepared for. This latest installment in the Ash Park series, like its predecessors, can in fact stand on its own and be read individually. However given the skill of the author and the sheer genius of the crime thriller that unfolds, to fully appreciate the main characters and their development you will want to read them all. You’ll have to. Your soul won’t rest until you do. They are just that good. Want a book and series that will make you think and keep you guessing and love every mesmerizing and spellbinding chill? Look no further.

What an amazing book! I loved the concept – not your typical romance. I love a good period piece and really enjoyed how Nauraine developed this storyline and these characters. It definitely explores what one is willing to do for their family as well as the lengths someone will go to for their heart. Loved it.
