10 Days by K.J. Holliday is a fun romantic comedy with a camping theme. This is my first read by K.J. Holliday, so I really didn’t know what to expect going in, but when this showed up on my recommended book list the title caught my attention which made me read the blurb to find out what it was about. The camping/survival theme, as well as one of the main characters being an author, really sold me on the story and I couldn’t wait to discover what lay between the covers. But I must admit that I probably wouldn’t have found this book on my own, if it had not been on that list- and I am glad that it was as I have discovered another new-to-me author to add to my reading list.
Alexander Jones is a bestselling author who is in the process of writing his second book, which isn’t going too well as he has a bad case of writer’s block. In the hope of inspiring some fresh ideas, Alex’s best friend, Luke, suggests a 10 day camping trip into the wilds. Since his story is set in the wilderness, Luke thought it would help if Alex, a complete city boy, experienced ‘survival’. As you can imagine, Alex is rather reluctant- but eventually he is persuaded to give it a try. Luke’s childhood friend and camping companion, Penny, is also along for the adventure (which is the highlight of the trip as far as Alex is concerned)….. and so, the story begins. What happens on the camping trip made for an entertaining read, with plenty of fun, banter, and sarcasm- which kept things fairly light-hearted- but the author managed to sprinkle in a little unexpected drama that kept things interesting.
There were a few moments that made me wince, where the wording felt awkward and out of place with the rest of the story- but thankfully this didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the book.

Thank you, K.J. Holliday!
