Mealtime at the Zoo: PB&J Cafe is an adorable and fun children’s book. I read it with my 8 year old, which is beyond the suggested age, but he still enjoyed it. He giggled at a couple of the pages and loved looking at the drawings. It would be a good beginning reader, as well as read to children by their teachers or parents. The rhyming is always fun, and my son learned two new animals- he didn’t know what an aardvark or shrew were, so we looked them up after finishing the story. He had fun comparing the real life animal picture to the illustration. The book is very creative and cute, imagining all the ways different animals might enjoy their pb&J.

I love love love this series. I really thought it was going to end with book 5, The Strategist. So I can’t tell you how happy I am to find out there will be more! I’ve been hooked since book 1. These are books you could read as a standalone novel, but they work and flow so much better in succession. The Strategist is Arrow’s story. And being there were originally 5 friends creating the WaterFyre rising video there’s been more characters introduced to take the story further. Arrow and Vivivan dance around one another. He wants her. She wants him but not enough to give him a chance. She’s been through some trauma’s in her life, which is why she keeps her heart closed off. However she’s on a mission to find her friend’s daughter who went missing 9 months ago. What she doesn’t realize is her mission is going to intersect Arrow and his friends’ journey to take down The Trogyn organization. Forcing them to work together. Working together works best when trust is involved. However with their rough childhoods one might not believe it’s possible. Can they both let down their walls to trust one another? Will Vivivan finally give into the feelings she has for Arrow? Can two broken souls mend each other? Just like all the other books in this series. There’s romance with a little action and adventure thrown in. Stubborn characters who care mightily for those in their circle. A group of friends do thick; they are hesitant about letting new members in. Yet they embrace everyone’s family as if it were their own. I can’t wait for book 6. Till then I’m contemplating about starting the series over. It’s all worth it! If you haven’t started it, go back to book 1. And if you have what are you waiting for book 5 is out!!!

Under the Bandage is a fun kid book that teaches them about germs and the healing process when they get a cut. We are big fans of this author and enjoy the rhyming stories and colorful illustrations. I like that it had little fun facts added to each page to explain the story and it’s accurate terms of what is happening. My son liked the book because he just learned about cells and antibodies at school recently. I think this book would be enjoyable to younger elementary school kiddos and would be good to add to a lesson plan about first aid and keeping cuts clean.

When I first read the synopsis for Just Ducky, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, C. A. King is an author that I won’t hesitate to read so I dove right in. What an unexpected, well-written, original, shifter romance. There is drama, adventure, and a bit of motherly intuition and meddling. Ducky (aptly named due to her fuzzy, two-legged, web-footed alter ego) finds herself in the midst of conflict between humans and shifters. This is where she meets Lord Kobreon and his mother, Trishia. C. A. King’s characters are so interesting, entertaining, and unique! The world building in this book is great. I could see the opulence of the human kingdom, feel the greed of the human general, and the connection between Ducky and Kobreon. Overall, a quick, entertaining read that I would recommend for anyone who enjoys a touch of the peculiar.

What another wonderful book in this series! The story is very intricate! I love all the criss cross story lines and characters. I struggled to out this intriguing one down. While Arrow is great I really love Vivian. She is one strong, smart and a woman who takes no bull. Yes she has had a hard life but she has grown and changed from it. Her resilience is what all women aspire for. I really enjoyed her story. We meet some new characters and see older ones.
I thought this would be the last book but nope! So I look forward to the next!

I love that this is written by a doctor who uses correct terminologies and has a first hand knowledge of how the medical field works. You will feel like you’re part of the story as you read about Marnie and Louise and their quest to find out what happened to their friend and colleague Gen.
Prepare to read this one in one or two settings because you won’t be able to put it down!

I love a good medical thriller and this one did not disappoint!
Marnie finds one of her clients, a veteran, while on her shift. It’s not immediately clear if this is the result of a suicide or something more sinister. Marnie and her co-workers are conducting trials on PTSD with the veterans and now have growing concerns for the rest of the clients.
This is very well done and is the second book in the series. I strongly recommend reading them both but make sure you set aside ample time because you won’t want to put this down!

Master Oradea is Book 10 in the Masters of the Consulate series and one of my favorite series’….its a series I cannot get enough. I was very excited to dive right in to Master Oradea’s story and boy it did not disappoint. Although you can read each book as a standalone..please do yourself a favor and start from the beginning….being part of a world of vampires, witches, shifters, fated mates and sizzling chemistry. I love each book in this series and it continues to get better and better.
Master Oradea and the rest of The Master are still in search to hunt down the notorious, Lucas, who is rogue and dangerous. When Natalia and Oradea meet..the instant chemistry is undeniable….what Oradea does not originally plan for is having to saving the beautiful, Natalia, in the hands of the rogue vampires..especially the danger it entails…but with danger in every turn and who do you trust…will Oradea be able to keep Natalia safe….
Definitely read and find out…I am anxiously waiting on Master Bistrita’s story!!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m glad I took a chance on it. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and ability to draw me into the story. I became invested in the outcome of the characters as I read this book. This book covers a sensitive subject and the author brought it to life in a very thought provoking way. Barbara is a strong, independent, lawyer whose life changes dramatically. It all starts when she catches her fiancé cheating. She gifts her destination wedding to her best friend, this is where she meets sebastian. Sebastian is a fellow lawyer and the chemistry between these two is off the charts. They are both looking forward to their new jobs, hers is a promotion and his is a new company. When they get back to New York they find out that he got the job she thought she was getting. It makes things very difficult for them. The story gets better from this point. I don’t want to give anything else away so I’m going to say grab this book and start reading to find out what happens. This was a good read.
This is a fun little children’s book. Well written with great characters. Geared toward littles between ages five and eight. The illustrations are great and follow the story.

Amese of Animalis is Book One in the Borosa Legacy Series. It is a children’s fantasy book designed for children between the ages of ten to fourteen years of age. The story centers around the main character of a 13-year-old girl named Amese who is learning the skills to be a Guardian. This is a huge responsibility that she does not feel that she is ready for. Amese must muster up all the courage that she can to overcome her doubts and fears to gain the confidence that she needs. Not only does she have to prove to herself, but she must prove to others that she has the skills and the abilities that are needed. This was a fun read that was full of adventure, magic, action mystery, and a smidge of danger. I loved how Amese was able to change into different animals as well as how with each animal that she transforms into she learns a lesson along the way. This was a great coming of age story with lessons about courage, strength and self-discovery. This book had great characters, a unique storyline, and fantastic world building with vivid scene descriptions.

A Song of Salt and Secrets is part of the Mythic Academy series by Amanda Marin, this is an enjoyable short read that looks at a part of the supernatural community that I don’t think I have ever read about before, sirens. The story follows Corisande, who is a senior at the mysterious Magwich Academy, a school designed to keep sirens safe from the human world. Unfortunately, even though she tried her best not to, Corisande unexpectedly allows a human to hear her siren song and although she saves him, it may not be enough to save herself. I liked this book, I read it all in one sitting and it kept me engaged throughout. I wish there was a bit more character development though as I feel that you didn’t get to really get to know them properly. I did like that it was a new take on a supernatural story and would read more in this series.

This is the 3rd book in the Bold Journeys series. I have loved all the books in the series so far and this one was just as good. Even though it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone and fully enjoyed. This author does an amazing job of researching her characters and story before actually creating the book this makes her story and characters realistic, authentic and explores the struggles that people face in their lives no matter their age, gender or race. As a reader it gives you a deep insight and a better understanding of other people’s lives. This story contains lots of emotion, drama, betrayal and angst as well as a romance which in some people’s eyes should exist. But you can’t help who you fall for. In this story we follow Barbara. She is a strong black woman who has always fought hard for her position in life. As a successful lawyer she believes the promotion in the company is hers. Her life seems perfect until she catches her partner cheating on her. Fast forward and she finds herself at the her wedding but it’s not her getting married. She gifted the wedding to her best friend. As Barbara deals with all the emotions around this situation she meets Sebastian the connection between them is instant and they can’t deny the chemistry so they plan to reconnect when they return home. Could Sebastian be the man for Barbara all along?
Sebastian’s life hasn’t been easy either. Growing up in a rough part of town he has had his fair share of trouble and struggles, however as a successful lawyer his life seems to be changed for the better and when he meets Barbara he can’t believe his luck When he returns he has a promotion to look forward to and a re connecting with Barbara however things don’t go to plan.
When the promotion that Barbara was certain was hers was given to someone else, it was a punch in the gut but what makes it worse is the person who it was given to was Sebastian and shortly after Barbara is fired.
Can the couple work through this? Will Barbara see it as a betrayal if Sebastian takes the promotion? Why was Sebastian given the promotion over all the work Barbara has done, could it be due to the colour of her skin? As Barbara tries to fight for social justice against a world and a system that is trying to keep her down will Sebastian stand and fight beside her?
This is a real eye opening story about how there are still times when the colour of someone’s skin has an effect on their life and the way people view them. It shows the struggle people go through just to be seen as equals. It is a beautiful written and thought provoking read.
This was a cute book. I liked the rhyming and found it engaging for kids. I could see using this at school as a prelude to our zoo project. It is something enjoyable for a younger child demographic. I would recommend.

I went into this not knowing it was part of a series, but it still was a good stand alone story. Colin shows up to work early one morning only to discover his boss has been murdered, and Colin immediately becomes number one suspect. Luckily his sister Kathleen, and Daniel the coroner, believe he is innocent and they set out to find the real culprit. Of course this story happened before a DNA database or anything was made to help them, so it was tricky and provided many twists in the story. I’m not usually drawn to historic fiction like this was, but I do love a good mystery, and was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was a great cozy mystery that had me hooked from the very beginning and I’ll definitely be picking up the first book as well as anything else put out by this author.

Each book can be read as a standalone and I love that in a series! Each story is unique and captivating as well as being realistic. You can really imagine each relationship unfolding in the time period. I really love each character and being able to “see” them develop and come together for a happy ending. Definitely would recommend and will to friends and family.

Under the Bandage By Lois Wickstrom is children’s book that children ages 5-8 can enjoy. We loved reading this book and learning about how our bodies fight off bacteria/infection. We learned about different kinds of bacteria and infections how to treat them. We’ve read several books by this author and we love her colorful illustrations that help bring the story to life. I love that my son actually learns something useful from reading this authors books. We highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. We look forward to reading more from this Author.

I read Will You Pretend Marry Me as my first read for this author, not realizing it was part of a series, and it can easily be read as a standalone. The story itself gave me some Hannah Montana vibes, with the secret identity singer situation but it is defintely more than just that. The main character lives a double life; as Abigail, she is a normal, run of the mill girl, absolutely normal. Abigail struggles with self identity, and wonders if anyone will ever accept her… As Kaia she is an international popstar; confident and outgoing. After finishing up a long 6 month world tour, Kaia is just over it all. The fake persona, the wigs and makeup, the whole gig has just drained her. Realizing she needs an escape, and a break, she heads to Maine for a few months to be a student teacher as herself, Abigail. Enter Everett Reynolds, VP and teacher at the school she is working at. Just Ducky is the first book in the Weird Shifters series by C.A King. It is a superb, very original, and cleverly crafted paranormal romance. There is a bit of a fairytale-esque feel to the story, as well as a ‘quest’ component- which means plenty of action, adventure, danger, and high stakes. This shifter romance had me intrigued from the moment I laid eyes on the title, and then the blurb only fired my curiosity even more- so I was excited to dive in as soon as it hit my Kindle. With unusual shifters, as well as vampires, wolves, agendas, an opposites attract element, forced proximity, magic, fate, humour, banter, mystery, tension, intrigue, suspense, the threat of war, and time running out- made this an entirely engrossing read. Ducky has felt like a ‘duck out of water’, excluded and made fun of- and treated like an outcast for her whole life. But when she discovers that the shifter of her dreams may be on the look out for a bride, Ducky can’t help but watch longingly from the ‘sidelines’. But then fate thrusts her into a situation that brings her up close and personal with her heart’s desire- only he doesn’t realise ‘who’ she is. With the threat of war on the doorstep, Ducky would love to be able to help find a solution to the problem- but what can she, a little duckling, possibly be able to do? And what happens when her secrets are revealed? If you love paranormal stories, sweet romance, adventure, and a fairytale feel, then you will definitely want to get your hands on a copy of this book. Wooowza book ten already!! I couldn’t wait to escape back into the world! With new and old friends I was ready for this next adventure. You would think since this being the 10th book the series it would lose some of its lackluster ,but NOPE. Sylvia Black just keeps knocking it out of the park each book she writes. Each one being just as compelling then the last, if not more. This one follows Natalia and Master Oradea (who are my new favorite 🤣i think i say that about every new book/couple that comes out. Maybe I love all of them) the chemistry between them is plus ultra. Told from both POVs which you gotta love. You’ll have to tell me if yall saw these twists coming or not , because I know some I definitely didn’t and I was shook. If you haven’t read the previous book you really need to go back to read them, as for me Bring on Book number 11 and 12 🥰🥰 what am i going to do after this series is done?

I love this series. It makes me so happy to have a kind of prequel to read. Healing Hearts is a wonderful book in the Echo Series. A series I never wanted to end. So I’m beyond thrilled to have more. I love what the author presents to the reader. Making the characters relatable. Yes it’s a book so events happen faster than typically in life, but that doesn’t take away from the characters. When Gene witnessed an accident happen he didn’t hesitate to help and assess the situation. What he didn’t expect was to find a woman that was going to turn his life upside down. Trying to find himself and deciding if he wants to place roots or still flow in the wind. He kept reminding himself Amanda was a patient he can’t cross that line. Yet there was something about her that kept pulling him in. Everyone around her thinks she’s crazy. Amanda is convinced she swerved out of the way of a teenager girl the night of her accident. However, nobody believes her. Even Gene aka Dr. Rowland doubted her. Which really bothered her. She was drawn to him. thought he was on her side. Her high school crush has now become her companion in trying to locate the girl that caused her accident. What they ended up stumbling upon was so unexpected. Will they find the girl? What will they do about the lust between them? A book you will start reading and not want to put down. The beginning of a series that’s well worth the read. Yet a book that can be read alone. Healing Hearts reminds the reader that we are all human and sometimes listening to your gut is the best thing to do.

My entire household always loves it when I bring home a book by this author! This one had little bits of educational information on most pages but still short enough to keep my youngest’s attention. I struggle with getting him to keep his bandaids on, so this was perfectly timed and right up his alley. The story has rhyming throughout which had us bopping along with the rhythm. I think it was really cool for both of my kiddos to see illustrations explaining how our bodies heal the bumps and scrapes that we get. This is definitely one of our top favorite books by Lois Wickstrom and hope we get to see more like this in the future! I highly recommend picking this up and sharing with the young ones in your life whether that’s at school, at a doctor’s office, or at home.

Ducky has had a life of ridicule as a duck shifter, especially when she gets anxious she she shifts to a furry duckling. Hearing that Vampire Lord Kobreon is on his way, Ducky just wants a glimpse. Everything goes awry though when she gets hurt and is rescued only to find herself a constant companion to Kobreon, the only problem is it’s as a duck.
This was fun, was not sure what would happen to Ducky. Full of different types of shifters and very different then the other books I have read of this genre. Entertaining.

My 7 year old daughter has been learning about the human body at school and just yesterday was telling me about the body’s blood cells. I felt that Under the Bandage by Lois Wickstrom would be a great addition to her library. It was cute to see her brain connect things she’s learning while reading a children’s story and it welcomed a conversation about what she’s learned which is always cool. As a pediatric nurse and a mother, I really enjoyed this book.

Just Ducky is Book 1 of the Weird Shifters series and when I saw the cover I was already intrigued. Never read a duckling shifter story until now and I love the uniqueness of this storyline. Drama, intrigue, shifters, royalty and greed…I really enjoyed this book.
There is a rift between Vampire Lord Kobreon and King Hammerhead as King Hammerhead’s daughter is gravely ill and Kobreon is trying to find a cure so there is peace between them. Ducky is just trying to survive each day, being a unique shifter that does not get much respect from others. Intrigue draws Ducky to Kobreon’s castle, his mother takes Ducky in her duckling form. Kobreon is attached to this duckling for some reason, but is tasked as time is running out to find a cure for King Hammerhead’s daughter. Will Lord Kobreon be able to save the day and find a peaceful treaty between him and King Hammerhead? When Ducky has her true calling will she get the respect she deserves and also to Lord Kobreon’s heart?
This is a fun paranormal read not to be missed! Already looking forward to book 2.

Marshmallow Rabbit is a cute children’s book that children ages 4-8 can enjoy. My six year old son loved this book so much we’ve read it several times already. The colorful illustrations help bring the story to life. Annabelle is a young girl who loves candy. She loves it so much she takes some every time Mr.Bonbon has a tour. Well he comes up with the perfect plan to stop her from taking his candy. A big Marshmallow Rabbit. She tried to take it but literally the Rabbit stuck to her. Annabelle is a sneaky clever little girl. Did she out smart Mr. Bonbon? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. My son and I love this author and look forward to reading more from her soon.

War in Sorcery’s Shadow (Ruarnon Trilogy Book 3) by Elise Carlson. This is the 3rd and final story in this young adult,fantasy series. It picks right back up where the second book left off and I highly recommend reading them in order to better understand the characters and story. Everything is coming to a head as the final war is coming Ruarnon and their friends race against time to warn everyone about the lies they have been fed. Fighting against the people trying to annihilate them will they be able to survive and reach their friends before the enemy does? Nartzeer thought they had done away with all the magic wielders but they lived in hiding. Will Nartzeer be able to win or will Ruarnon and their friends be able to overcome. Magic, sorcery, murder and chaos ensues. Such a good young adult, non binary, fantasy story.

This is my first audio by this author which I enjoyed listening to. This is a mystery story about Tina and her determination to figure out if stories from the past are true. Plus Tina’s mother reenters Tina’s life and has her own secrets to tell. I enjoyed this story and how the narrator brought the story to life with different tones of voices. This is an easy book to listen to and had me wanting to know more. An engaging audio with characters that are connectable and make the story for me. I look forward to listening to another audiobook by this author in the future. I highly recommend this book.
