The Trouble With Paradise (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 4) by Cynthia Hamilton was a great read. Two murder mysteries that provided a lot of insight into the characters. I loved Madeline’s perspective, she painted a very vivid thought process and was definitely great to see come back into the workforce after what she endured. I am a huge fan of true crime and this checked every box. I did not want to put it down.

Drawn to Him by Tammy Mannersly is a captivating small-town contemporary romance story with a twist. I love a good romance story and Tammy’s writing makes it easy to be transported into the world she has created with lovable characters and enough drama/suspense to give it that little bit more. The romance between Matt and Erica is a nice blend of sweet and spicy, seductive and steamy. This is a read that is enjoyable and easy to get lost in for an afternoon, with a nice glass of wine and some sunshine. The story flowed nicely, and the narrative often had me going through a lot of different emotions.

The Trouble With Paradise by Cynthia Hamilton was another great read in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery series! I’ve enjoyed reading this series, and this latest installment wasn’t a disappointment. The characters continued being amazing, the plot and storyline was incredible, while being super thrilling as well. This series just keeps getting better, the further you read. I highly recommend not just this book, but the series as well, and I can’t wait to read more in the future!

Kent and Amanda’s story was one that had their ups and downs but we all know that they were bound to end up together.
The beginning of the book was a little choppy for me and it took some time to actually start to like the characters. But by the end, I was enjoying the story and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.

A Duke Never Forgets (The Duke Hunters Club Book 3) by Bianca Blythe is a historical romance/enemies to lovers’ story. It has a little bit of everything with charm and wit, humour and drama make for a good read. It was easy to see where the story was going but it was an interesting journey none the less. The story flowed nicely, and the narrative often had me laughing out loud. Bianca is a very descriptive writer which makes it vivid and easily imaginable.

The Trouble With Paradise By Cynthia Hamilton is the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery series. This book, just as its predecessors can be read as a stand alone, however I absolutely recommend reading them all in order! I have loved this series from book one, and this addition certainly did not disappoint! Cynthia has yet again written another masterpiece that kept me on the edge of my seat with each page! I absolutely loved this book and wholeheartedly recommend it!

Forest Park: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 2 is the second book in the Logan McKenna Series by Valerie Davisson. This is an intense story with multiple points of view telling the same story. There is a lot going on, but Logan McKenna leads the story well. She is having to try to trust her gut concerning new friends and others, but it becomes difficult as everything unravels. I like that, this isn’t just another set cookie cutter mystery. The author delves into the character of Logan McKenna and leaves the reader wanting more. I will not give any clues to the plot because there is nothing worse than a plot being wrecked. I will leave it up to you to pick up and start a great series. Of course, I recommend book 1 first. I look forward to reading more from Valerie Davisson in the future.

Falling for the Texan is the second novel in The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series by Nicole Flockton. It follows the middle Prentice brother, Tyler, and his journey through his first wine launch.
Hiring a PR/advertising firm was not an easy decision. He needed something affordable, but something successful. So he reached out to his friend from college who worked at a firm in New York City. Tyler Prentice was surprised when a beautiful woman showed up instead of his long time friend.
Gianna Lucciana is not looking forward to Texas. Unbearable heat and humidity and small towns are low on her list of places to visit, but in order to prove she can do her job, she has to knock this wine campaign out of the park.
Gianna and Tyler have an instant connection. While they both fight it to hopefully be more focused on the campaign, there is a lot of attraction to fight and it gets increasingly harder. Can they make it past their differences and their own stubbornness to be together?
I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait until Trey’s story comes out!

The Trouble with Paradise is the 4th book in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery series and in my opinion, as someone who has read all of these books, they keep getting better and better. Madeline is a great character who, despite all the challenges thrown at her, never stops until the mystery is solved and the relationship between her and her partner Mike, grows in each book and I am looking forward to seeing how that goes. In this book Madeline and Mike are faced with the investigations into two cases, one of a widow trying to prove she didn’t kill her husband and the other of a widow trying to find the truth in her husbands death while also trying to deal with the reappearance of Madeline’s despicable ex. As with all of the Madeline Dawkins books the author keeps you guessing right until the end. I would highly recommend this book, and the whole series to those who love a good mystery and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the first book in Flockton’s ‘Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge’ series I was looking forward to this second instalment and was not disappointed. Having met Tate Prentice and Kelly in ‘One Hot Texas Summer’, we now meet his brother Tyler Prentice. Tyler Prentice has put all his energy, dreams and savings into his new winery and wanting a successful and sophisticated launch he hires a top marketing firm. Having lost a major advertising account Gianna Lucchia is out to prove that she can still create successful branding campaigns and so travels to the middle of nowhere, Texas to launch a new winery. However Gianna and her proposed marketing plan is not what Tyler had in mind, in fact Gianna soon learns he has very different ideas. However she is determined to carry out her plan of creating a big buzz and then returning home having proved to her bosses how good she is. Meanwhile, Tyler has decided that what he really wants is Gianna, as his, permanently. The more they work together on the launch the more Gianna’s creativity emerges but she also starts to notice how sexy and smart Tyler is. But when her past threatens to destroy any chance they have at a relationship, Tyler needs to let go of his pride and decide on taking a gamble on love. This was a wonderfully written romance with some great main characters in Gianna and Tyler. I liked seeing how their relationship grew and developed over the story, although their connection was obvious instantly. It was nice being back on the Prentice’s peach farm and catching up with characters from book one and I look forward to the other Prentice brothers getting their own story and hopefully a happy ever after. I felt fully immersed in the story and the storyline flowed along at a good pace and kept me happily turning the pages. The authors detailed descriptions made the sights, sounds, and scents of the peach farm and winery really come alive. A great read for an afternoon escapism, sat outside in the sun.

This story is full of steamy, sensual storyline with a mix of menage included. I really enjoyed this story the book twisted and turns into a great suspense which will have you hanging onto every word which you will not be able to stop listening too.
The story revolves around Dr Tessa Freeman who is trying to help the woman who find themselves within the ER from this hideous life but as she becomes a threat to the ring she is kidnapped and is in danger until Locke comes to rescue her but there is a negotiation involved where Locke gives her an ultimatum.
I have read to a few books by this author and this book certainly does not disappoint, if you’re looking for a steamy, well written story this is for you.

I enjoyed this second chance romance, as childhood sweethearts Amanda and Kent get another chance at love with each other having gone there separate ways for work. This was a heartwarming story and the author had a warm and inviting way with words that had me fully immersed in the storyline and swept me along on Amanda and Kent’s journey. When Amanda got her dream job in California she left her small town in the Pacific Northwest never to look back. However she left behind the man she’s always loved, Kent and how ever exciting her new life is she can’t stop thinking and dreaming about him. When Amanda gets the chance to return to her home town of Hood River as part of her job on a popular reality TV show she takes it. Amanda is determined to prove to Kent how good they were together and could be again, the only problem is, Kent hates her for leaving him. Although an emotional read at times, this novel had an easy feel to the writing and the storyline flowed along nicely. I loved the characters, Amanda and Kent were a great couple who’s connection and chemistry was obvious from page one and I was cheering them on to their happy ever after. As this is book one in a new series by Kinney Scott I look forward to reading some of the secondary characters stories in future books. This is the first book I have read by Scott, and I am pleased to have discovered a new author, having enjoyed this novel.

The Lightning Horse is the first book in the Empire at Twilight seriesby N.L Holmes. This is my second book from Ms. Holmes, and the one thing I love about her books is the historical detail she manages to infuse into her stories. As with the other book of Ms. Holmes that I have read, the authors passion for history is evident in her writing. This passion certainly added to my enjoyment of the story. I love ancient history- and Ms. Holmes seems to know this subject incredibly well- but I imagine a lot of meticulous research, blood, sweat, and tears also went into the creation of this book. The story is a fascinating blend of fiction and historical fact woven into quite an intriguing piece of work. This time, the story is set in the Hittite period, which the author does a great job of recreating and bringing to life. The story is a slow building cozy mystery, with a little drama for added interest. So, if you love ancient history, original stories with interesting characters and settings, cozies, and crime fiction- then you will probably want to grab a copy of this book. Happy Reading!

House of Valdis Origins: Xenobia (House of Valdis #0)is the prequel to the House of Valdis series by Naomi Valkyrie. This book is a super quick and easy read. But don’t be fooled. There is quite a lot packed into a small package- in a great way. I really enjoyed The Rise of House Valdis (Book #1) and after getting to the end of that story I really needed to know so much more about the characters and backstory- I was so curious and itching for more details, which this book does a great job of providing- filling in much of what I needed to know. The story may have taken me less than 20 minutes to read but manages to span more than 12 months- with the intensity, suspense, and emotional depth of a much longer novel. It never felt rushed or cut short in any way. But having said that, I am completely fascinated by the “world” and characters Ms. Valkyrie has created- and I am greedy- so I would love to have read a longer version of this story ‘cos that’s how us needy and greedy readers roll lol. 😊 From Xen’s blue skin and sharp fangs, to her resilience, strength, and determination- she is completely fascinating. Her plight in this book was quite heart-wrenching and helped me understand her so much better. Finding out where she came from, and what she went through made for a riveting read, whilst helping to put everything from Book One in greater perspective. I am completely captivated and sooo hooked on this series now, and I truly cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! Fantastic!
The Trouble With Paradise is book 4 in the Madeline Dawkins series. This series is a favourite of mine, and I would recommend staring at book one if you haven’t already. Knowing the back-stories and the characters makes this book even more enjoyable.
Book 4 sees Madeline and her partner Mike investigating new mysteries, and dredging up the past in more ways than one. Both cases involve murdered husbands and their widows. As the duo dig to find out the truth they unearth some truths and surprises that help them make sense of things. I’ve been a fan of this series since book one. I love the character development, seeing Madeline change and grow to become an even stronger person, ready to help people despite her own misfortunes. I also enjoy watching the relationship between Madeline and Mike develop as the series goes on. This is a series that always leaves you wanting more, I can’t wait for the next instalment!

This is such an engaging story! It truly kept my interest and I couldn’t stop finding pages. The characters drew me into their world. Genevieve is feisty! I loved reading her. She is doing the best she can under the circumstances but still will not let a Duke push her around. Sebastian is snobby! I couldn’t stand him at the beginning. But once his guard was let down he became more human-like. Ha ha. Then I could see that big heart and great personality that he has. The fiery back and forth between these two got my brain active. They just love to argue…and it snappy comments. Very enjoyable!
This is my first book by this author. I really liked it and read it in one sitting. I smirked and laughed as well as was surprised and shocked over the behaviors of some of the characters. I look forward to more from this author.

Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler is a cozy mystery. The author does a wonderful job at submerging the reader into the life of main character Karina Cardinal. The pacing of the storyline is great and I love that it’s based on a true event. The blending of fact and fiction is amazing. I can’t wait to continue reading this series.

It’s hard to believe this is the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins series, in many cases I would have lost interest in a series before now! The Trouble With Paradise is my favorite Madeline Dawkins book so far. There are a lot of moving parts that kept me interested from start to finish. I have mentioned it in the past but I still really enjoy watching the progression of Madeline. I find her character to be realistic and the kind you can’t help but root for, she feels like a friend of your own. I look forward to what is to come next for the series.

I have not read this series or author before, so I had no idea what to expect. The first thing and most obvious to me was the detailed character descriptions. The author gives us back stories to each and every character in the book. That is something that is unusual to me and wasn’t sure what to think about it. The more I read the more I appreciated it. I sometimes get mixed up if there are too many characters and little description. It is quite obvious the time and effort the author put into all of the characters, not just the main ones.
I enjoyed all of the main characters and cannot wait to see them again. Plus there is the story itself. It pulls on things that are very current and relatable. At the same time, there are many little things that make this book unique and stand out from the rest. I quite enjoyed this book and hope to pick up another some time soon. If you are a fan of mysteries, I highly recommend this book.
Falling for the Texan (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 2) by Nicole Flockton is a charming contemporary romance story. But not everything is easy on the road to love. It is a fun but emotional ride. It took me a while to warm up to some of the characters and some I outright hated but all in all I loved the others. The story in this small town and its residents was endearing. The story is a fast paced and the pages keep on turning to see what is going to happen next. Gotta love small towns.
Gianna is a strong and independent woman and good at her job and is finding herself falling for Tyler her client. The chemistry between the two is palpable and sizzling.
I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next.

Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott is a sweet second chance romance story. It is very well written and flows well and is a read you get easily caught up in. I found myself invested in the characters that have depth and are fully realised and the chemistry between the two sizzles. There is a little bit of everything like angst and drama, second chances and lots of emotions that make the story pop and keep you engaged.
Amanda leaves behind her love to find her dreams but is the grass any greener? Unfortunately, that is harder to do than she realised. Returning home, she must face the reality and pain of her leaving has left behind. Kent feeling rejected and hurt comes to find that love and hate are a fine line.

Such a good story! Shooting Star is Book 1 in the Back Door Records series by, Xana Jordan. I loved every second of this book. This story is definitely for the true romantic! In this story, we meet Aria, who is the lead singer of a band that has just been signed to Back Door Records. Aiden is their new manager and is absolutely mesmerized with Aria. When Aria meets Aiden, she is just as smitten. When these two get together, thing heat up and I mean big time! The chemistry between these two is amazing. It’s a like a moth to a flame for these two! The sexy scenes are HOT and STEAMY! They will definitely light you on fire! The story line is just as great! I also loved the other characters in this book as well. Two bands go on tour together so you know it’s bound to have a lot of fun scenes. Plus, there is lots of comedy in this book, which I loved. It really kept it light and fun! This was my first book with this author and I was truly impressed. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, especially if it’s anything like this one!

Shooting Star (Back Door Records 1) by Xana Jordan was a great 5 star read. I love Rock Star romance so I was excited to read this book.
Aiden is an agent for a band and Aria is the lead singer of a band. When Aiden had to unexpectedly search for an opening band to join his band on tour he didn’t expect to meet Aria. Something about her drew him in. The chemistry between them came off the pages. The bantering had me LOL at moments.
Overall I really enjoyed this read. All of the secondary characters were great and added more to the story. It’s like one big family and you will have LOL moments. This is my first book by Xana. Well-developed storyline with well-developed characters. This made it easy to follow an easy to read. This is Aiden and Arias story. Aiden is a manager searching for new talent for a band when the lead singer of Zombie Butterflies gets arrested. Hence Aria and her band Blue Venus being the perfect opening. Aria and Aiden have serious chemistry and are drawn to each other and their feelings only intensified as the book goes on. Excited for the second book to see what happens!

Book Review: Shooting Star Author : Xana Jordan FIVE STARS Xana Jordan draws you into the Rock Star/Manager relationship world. I think there could have been more drama in this book from the beginning to the middle, but the love story this book contains is wonderful. There are a few sexual encounters that leave you wanting even more. Over all a very good book. It does end with somewhat of a cliff hanger and you wonder what comes of Aria and Aiden as well as River and Levi. There are no hints of future books with these characters but HOPEFULLY Ms. Jordan doesn’t leave us wondering for too long. Ms. Jordan is a new to me author but you can believe I will be reading more. I loved Valkyrie’s first book in the series and was excited to pick up this origin short story. If you aren’t familiar with the series, this quick read will definitely grab your attention. Zen and Urd – what an amazing pair! I flew through these pages and found some great detail and backstory that helped me appreciate even more the House Valdis series. Valkyrie is truly finding her voice in the paranormal genre and is one to watch – I believe her talent is only starting to come to the surface – watch out world!
The Debt Collector is the first book in An Underground Bad Boys Romance series by India Kells. Holy hotness Batman! This book was so intense and so steamy, I couldn’t put it down. Dr. Tessa Freeman is trying to save girls from an underground slave ring, but she gets herself into some deep trouble. She gets captured by the slave master only to get saved by a debt collector. Locke is such a HOT character; he’s dark and mysterious but seems to have a heart by saving Tessa. The catch is that Tessa must give herself to Locke fully as payment for her debt. This includes Tessa being with his friend Gage too. Tessa has a hard time putting aside the lust for Locke and Gage to know what she really wants in life. This story was jaw dropping at times, the relations between Tessa and Locke, Tessa and Gage, and even Locke and Gage some times. I was blushing on multiple accounts but I had to keep reading. Besides the hot scenes, this book had a deeper story line dealing with the complex characters. I look forward to reading other stories in this series.

Love Song: A friends-to-lovers rock & roll romantic suspense by K.G. Fletcher
This is a stand alone, but a fantastic story! K.G. Fletcher has done a fantastic job and this will not be my last read by her. She captivated my attention and didn’t let go until the end. She has really brought the characters to life.
Casey, Cee-Cee, a back-up singer for her band isn’t looking for love, but she finds it. Things get tough when something happens to her sister, but she isn’t alone. The quote I choose for Casey is: “This is me and Laura backstage after my first professional singing gig. I was real young, a few months after our parents died. That night was the first time Laura ever told me how proud she was of me. As long as I can remember, she kept this photo on her bedside table. She once told me that every night before she went to sleep she’d look at it and it always made her smile after a long, hard day. She said she always knew I’d be successful with my talent and she was proud to be there, supporting me from day one. She believed in me….”
Sam, back up drummer, isn’t expecting to find love so soon after a bad breakup. He lays eyes on Casey and is blown away. He learns of her sister’s past, but doesn’t think he’d be helping Casey after a difficult time. The quote I choose for Sam is: “I shouldn’t have left you. I’m never going to do that again. Do you hear me? I love you Casey, and I’m never going to leave you.”
Highly recommended for young adults over 18 and I’ll warn you to have a box of tissues nearby. You will ugly cry.

Valerie has really outdone herself with the second book in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series. She has Logan at it once again with her own little solvable problems.I enjoyed the heck out of this book!
Logan, self proclaimed hero, is going to Portland to see a friend. There happens to be another crime she can try solving. She’s good at helping and sticking with her gut.
Has she finally moved on from her husband’s death? And his betrayal? Will she finally open up to Ben? The quote I choose for Logan is: “I want to make learning fun for kids, but more than that, I want to prepare them for the world they will inherit, which, as we know, is in so many ways a mess. I want to give them the tools to create a better world— to maybe fix some of the mistakes we made.”
I really enjoyed this book and I think anyone who is up for a good crime and romance will enjoy this.
