Stop That Lion is an entertaining picture book for children between the ages of 4-8 years. The illustrations by Timna Green draw the eyes and move the story along beautifully. The story depicts some lessons for young ones as they learn about friendship, peace, selflessness and more. It will be a hit amongst children as it is original and different to other children’s books. Wynnie is a clever young girl who looks outside the box to help solve a problem that affects kingdoms and one sneaky lion who likes to eat sheep. Will the king take Wynnie’s suggestions to the problem and implement them? I read this to my grandboys, and they really enjoyed it and came up with some suggestions of their own.

Porter and Midge: Paws and Responsibilities: A Kid’s Guide to Welcoming a New Dog follows the young characters of CJ and Lora as they thoroughly research the proper way to care for a new puppy. The story is told through fun rhymes which makes learning about the responsibilities of puppy ownership and care easy and entertaining for children. CJ and Lora learn about socialization, vet visits, dental care, grooming, and training their new puppy. They also learn the importance of picking the right breed that will suit their family. The illustrations are bright, colorful, engaging and really bring the story to life. A great read for any child who is eager to learn about the responsibilities of puppy ownership and care.

Such a great addition to the series! I was hoping Jake would get his time at being the good guy after his rough first appearance. I have loved this series from the get and love it more and more with each book. I’m sad the next one is going to be the last but I am also excited!

Beautiful artwork and a beautiful story. Cam and Inaya welcome Loris into their home, they just want to involve him in everything they do, but he wants nothing to do with anyone. My heart broke when he said he’s been scared his whole life, but the siblings counter all his points with promises of their own, they will be there for him. Loris learns to open up and to trust his new family and understand he belongs.

This book is a lovely Romance story about two old “friends” who manage to set aside their differences and find love. I think the author has created a well written and descriptive story that draws you into what is going on. I thought the story was interesting and it was nice to read a clean Romance, as it isn’t normally my go to book. I really enjoyed watching the characters discover more about each other, and themselves in the process. And Hank made a brilliant addition. This is a really great book.
I really enjoyed this book. The King of Mir asks his people to help find a way to keep the lion in the Kingdom of Sher away from their sheep. We journey along watching 2 failed attempts at keeping the Lion out until, a little girl is the one with the plan that works. The King doubts her and her plan and he is pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I love that the little girl, Wynnie is sympathetic to the lion and doesn’t want anything bad to happen to him but, they have to save the sheep in their kingdom.

Stop That Lion: A Tale of Friendship Love and Peace is another wonderful story by Lois Wickstrom that is very enjoyable, fun and engaging story and also promotes problem solving and thinking. The illustrations are perfect to bring the story to life. My great nieces and nephew loved this story as much as I did.
The Kingdom of Sher and the Kingdom of Mir are neighbors. The Kingdom of Sher had a smart lion while the Kingdom of Mir had sheep to raise. When the lion would get hungry and eat the sheep within the Kingdom of Mir…how could anyone stop the lion. Will Wynnie, a young girl whom lives within the Kingdom of Sher be able to find the best solution and make everyone happy?

Hell Hath No Fury is the second book in the Life Is Hell series. I enjoy the variety of LGBT+ relationships in this series, and the diverse cast of paranormal characters. It’s an action-packed read that’s hard to put down!
Hell Hath No Fury focuses on the relationship between Sheridan and Millicent, who met each other in the first book in the series. It’s early days for them, and Millicent is new to the whole paranormal thing so there are a lot of obstacles for them to overcome. Millicent’s mysterious stalker forces her to come to terms with this new world and accept help from her friends, but also puts a strain on her relationship with Sheridan.
I’m glad that we got to see more of some of the regular characters, like Jezebel! And I loved Millicent in the previous book so I was excited to see her story get more attention.
This book gets five stars from me. I’d recommend the series to readers who are already fans of the author’s work, and those who enjoy varied LGBTQ+ paranormal romances.

This is a really cute story about Wynnie and her solution to stop the lion from the Kingdom of Sher from eating the sheep in the Kingdom of Mir. The King of Mir tasks his citizens with coming up with a solution that is fair and the winner will be the King’s Royal Advisor BUT if the solution doesn’t work, then the King will take their most prized possession. Several others try and fail before Wynnie gives her solution. I love how Wickstrom is always weaving in life lessons for her readers. I also really like the illustrations in this book. This is an amazing quick read. I fell in love with the characters from the start. They both had some serious growth throughout the short book. I was able to read this book in a couple hours and I honestly can’t wait to read the rest of the series. This book is a really good book t o start the series with because I feel like it is laying the groundwork for the rest of the series. You finally are able to put everything together at the end of the book. It is all wrapped up with a pretty bow that allows you to continue on. I loved the level of spice this book has. It actually really helped carry the story line. I don’t mean that in a bad way, the spice is part of the entire story and obviously the series based upon the name. So, I felt like it was just the right amount. If you are looking for a sweet little get away from the real world, I highly recommend this book. Knowing that it is a series, I am excited to see what happens next and who the book is going to focus on. It is hard to tell how amazing this book is without giving away things. This was a really sweet read. It was a story about a woman who in her later years has decided to take a trip of the life time to find her roots. This is a beautiful story of one ladies journey of discovery to find herself and maybe find love along the way again. Is it possible to find a true love twice in a lifetime? Laura has found herself in a situation she didn’t imagine she would be. After losing her husband she finds herself alone and unsure of what to do with herself. After joining a book club she is encouraged to follow her passion and find her roots to the England. So despite her nerves about travelling alone she decides to do something’s for herself after all the years of helping others. When she arrives in England her adventure begins as she starts to trace and uncover her heritage. While she is on this journey she meets a gentleman. As their attraction and chemistry grows doubts begin to resurface in Laura’s mind but when feelings grow strong and the gentleman reveals a secret that Laura isn’t sure she can forgive and move past could this be the end of what could be the chance of the happiness and love again.
This is a really sweet, cosy read. I really enjoyed this story and I loved seeing Laura’s growth throughout the story.

I just loved this book!! You don’t read a lot about foster care and over coming many issues that can come with being put through the system. Especially a children’s book! This book had wonderful illustrations, but also a wonderful storyline. It really puts you in the shoes of a little boy who has been through a lot and must overcome a lot at the same time. In this book, Cam and Inaya are training for a charity run. The charity run is to raise money for a friend of theirs’s who is in the hospital needing open heart surgery. As you go along you see these two practice running, handing out fliers, and getting ready for the big run. One day after a run the two go home and meet their new foster brother. Loris keeps to himself. He doesn’t say much, he doesn’t play with the others, and he keeps to himself quite a bit. Cam and Inaya try over and over to get him to join them in stuff but he always says no. One day at school Loris stands up to a bully in their school. All the kids are scared of him, but Loris has been scared of worse. The foster siblings start to bond over things and Loris lets his guard down some. Race day comes and Cam hurts himself during the run. Loris takes over for him and helps with the rest of the race. The event is a huge success and the children bond even more. Such a wonderful book. Teaching great values while learning about courage, kindness, and overcoming many fears that pop up in different ways. I would defiantly recommend this book for children 10 and under, but it’s also a good book to show teens to encourage understanding and help stop bullying in my opinion. I can’t wait to read it with my girls.

“Stop That Lion” by Lois Wickstrom is a charming and engaging story about solving problems through creativity and collaboration. The premise of the story, with the Kingdom of Sher’s lion causing mischief in the neighboring Kingdom of Mir, is both humorous and relatable.
The characters in the story, particularly Winnie, are endearing and relatable. Winnie’s determination to save her pet sheep, Paley, and her kingdom is admirable, and readers will root for her as she navigates the contest to Stop the Lion. The King’s willingness to listen to Winnie’s idea and give her a chance to solve the problem showcases the importance of listening to diverse perspectives and working together to find solutions.

While not my first Wickstrom children’s book I enjoyed it as if it was. Lois always manages to captivate children with her tales, and wonderful illustrations, while always managing to teach them something at the same time. In this case, this being the fifth book in the series, Loretta takes us back to her garden to take us full circle in the life of fireflies. We enjoyed this one.
As the name suggests this is a charming read with some wonderful characters and I really enjoyed Laura being an older age than you usually see lead characters in most romance novels these being days. I found the book club ladies fun and quirky. I’d definitely read more Of the Boomer Babes Book Club series.

I didn’t realize at the time of starting this novel that many authors came together to write this alluring, steamy, romance novel, and they all did a fantastic job. A love at first sight trope, fae, fantasy, and romance this novel had it all. It was a light, fun read that I’m glad to have read.

This is a great story to read to kids who want a dog. Kids can follow CJ and Lora as they learn about what it takes to take care of a dog. Owning a dog is not easy. A spicy romance that will leave you on the seat of your chair. When Emma meets Liam she can’t help but be attracted to him. Loretta is back in her garden, a place she loves to spend her time, and today, while she is planting flowers in a freshly prepared bed, she finds some glowing larvae, she is so intrigued by them that she runs to get her ant farm, which is currently empty and waiting for some new residents and so she moves some of the larvae in.
As she watches them tunnel, she finds that they are also building hut like structures around themselves from the mud, but what will happen to them now? This is a charming book about the lifecycle of a firefly which is full of information in a format which all ages will enjoy and all while learning about nature and insects all at the same time.
The Olympic Peninsula series is one of my all-time favorite book series, especially as its setting is in my hometown where I grew up! Cat Treadgold is one of the best authors of contemporary romance and has an amazing gift of words that she creates a world that makes you feel invested in the characters, it’s like they’re family. She does such an amazing job of portraying the small-town living that is so Port Townsend, right down to the fact that everyone knows everyone, and is so welcoming to all. The description of the Victorian homes is spot on, everywhere you look you are surrounded by a Victorian style, it’s not typical, but one that is its own style that pays homage to Queen Anne. I was so excited when I saw that we were finally getting Jake’s story, Joe’s twin brother, and getting to understand his true personality when he gets to be himself and do what he is passionate about. What a twist to find that right from the start his love interest is none other than David’s son’s caretaker, who happens to also be in an unhappy marriage. Will Jake finally be able to continue to pursue his dreams of happiness, will his mother finally accept his lifelong dream, and will he find his happily ever after like all his other siblings have so far? You do not want to miss the next book in this series! If you have not read the other books, I recommend you go back and read them in order so that you can understand in depth all of the backstories of the characters. If you love a good contemporary romance story, with dynamic characters, based in a realistic small-town setting, you will want to jump into this book series. @Brandy Rymer 04/2024

Touched is the first book in the Elemental Passions series brought to us by 10 talented authors who have come together as one. I must say that I was curious about this book,, because at first I thought it was an anthology- but it isn’t- it is one story told/written by 10 different authors. Well, I have never heard of that being done before- so of course I had to grab a copy and see how the story turned out. The ten authors who contributed to this book are: -Skye Turner -Sloane Nicole -April D. Berry -C.J. Pinard -Danielle Jamie -Darlene Tallman -Julie Moran -Livell James -Machelle Hanleigh -Melissa McKinnon They have produced an intriguing paranormal romance with action, fantasy, adventure, magic, Fairies (Fae), sylphs, werewolves, drama, danger, agendas, fated loved/fated mates, forbidden romance, chemistry, steam, tension, mystery, elemental forces, prophecy, war, insta-love/insta-lust, and emotion. With there being ten different authors lending their talents to this one story, it would be understandable if you were somewhat skeptical about the end result being cohesive. But I am here to assure you that this book reads as if there had only been one author- so colour me impressed. Sneaking through the wards into the human realm isn’t anything new for Aeris, she’s been breaking the rules since she could remember- so what is different this time? Well, a tall dark stranger who knocks her off her feet and locks eyes with her is what…. Aeris and Callum are from two different worlds, a fairy and a human. But is he, human, that is. Afterall he can see through her glamour, which he shouldn’t be able to do. And why can’t she stop thinking about him? Things take a bit of a dangerous turn throwing these two into a situation they could never have predicted. What happens when their forbidden union is discovered? Where does prophecy and war fit in? And what does fate have in store for these two? Well, you really should read all the captivating details for yourself and discover how it all plays out in the end. The Closer touches on a lot of emotion between June and Dallas. Lust and attraction bring tension when mixed with the frustration and anger of past experiences with one another. There’s the feelings of wonder and magnetism while fear of heartache and disappointment in past choices war with one another on top of the stress June is already dealing with life events that leads her back to Dallas – who has been beating himself up for 10 years since June left him last.
Out of desperation, June approaches the insanely Dallas to ask him to invest in her to help. He is known for being aggressive in his work and she knows the way things could turn out, but she has no other choice. Dallas has been beating himself up for a decade over how things ended last time, but he had earned his reputation and can’t bring himself to help. Bolstered by drinks and desperation, June makes a last ditch effort to Dallas that she can’t afford to lose by a “best of 3” bet after a few drinks. It turns out June should not have been as confident in her skills as she thought and finds herself accompanying Dallas on a trip to Argentina. Before she knows it, she finds herself wondering if this trip with her ex was worth it. Along the way, we are introduced to Navarro to throw a wrench in their reconciliation.
There were multiple branches to this story, but it is interesting and well put together. There’s enough strife to have you rooting for the past couple but it isn’t so strong that you really feel they are enemies – more like they hurt one each others feelings and they get overreacting for an entire decade, but the prose is engaging and I was constantly interested in finding out what happens next. A fast read that kept me following for way more pages than I should have in one sitting at start to finish. Can be read as a standalone.
I really enjoyed the adventure that Loris took me on! He became such a strong and powerful character at the end and I really enjoyed this read. I most definitely recommend this book for kids who struggle or have struggled with the foster system. This book definitely had some good insights on how kids in foster homes might feel going into a new place and issues they combat at previous foster homes!
Touched is the first book in the Elemental Passions series. The book features Aeris, an inquisitive fae interested in humans outside of Laric. Despite warnings from her older brother, Cyrus, she uses glamour and sneaks out to watch humans without interacting with them. However, she learns that Callum, a police detective, can see her. Aeris bumps into Callum on the street. Seeing how distressed Aeris is, Callum tries to offer her help. Aeris flees and disappears from his sight.
Inside a dark bar, Callum meets with his informant about a drug drop location that the notorious Trahan brothers were planning for Friday at midnight. It is evident that Tony is afraid of being caught giving Callum information. When Callum is driving toward his precinct, he drops his phone long enough to distract him. He strikes a pedestrian and runs to the front of his truck to see Aeris lying in a pool of blood. Nobody can see her except Callum. While he is distracted by another person, Aeris heals herself. Callum convinces her to take her for a ride because he wants to know her better.
Aeris hides her interaction with a human from Cyrus. She researches glamour and finds it doesn’t work on mythical creatures. If a mortal has mythical blood, they can also see past glamour. She meets Callum again and reveals she is a Fae. Callum recalls his grandmother telling him he had Sylph blood but didn’t know what that meant. Noticing a storm forming rapidly, Callum tries to take Aeris to his truck but a strong wind snatches her away. Aeris knows she is in serious trouble since her father used a storm to bring her back to Laric.
There is a lot of suspense in Touched. Fae are not supposed to be around humans. Callum didn’t believe in fairy tales until Aeris entered his life. Something between them draws both of them together and it is obvious that the traditional alpha male persona that Callum has will be challenged by the strong-willed Aeris. What is a Sylph? What does it mean to be human and Sylph? Can Aeris convince her family and fellow Fae to accept Callum? Does Aeris have to leave Laric forever if she wants to be with Callum. All of these intriguing questions are answered in an unpredictable story of forbidden romance.

Liam and Emma will pull you into their world so fast. I instantly felt a connection to each character. Their relationship is fun to watch grow and become something neither knew they were looking for. Emma is so sassy and her character is fun. Liam is just as fun mixed with his protective nature is the best recipe for the perfect book boyfriend. This one is definitely spicy so have a fan at the ready. It’s well written with characters you connect with and root for easily. Five stars and highly recommended.

Listen I need to look into finding pet sitting jobs where I can travel! This book immediately had my heart. I have been married almost 20 years and imagine I’d be just as lost as Laura seems when navigating life after your partner is gone. This is a wonderful story about life after loss. But also about loving yourself and truly living afterwards. Laura drew me in so quickly and she was so easy to connect with I loved her adventures and watching her grow throughout the story. We so easy make everyone else a priority we sometimes lose us along the way and this book is a perfect outline on to find yourself again. This storyline is definitely in my heart and I loved the characters. Need a feel good storyline with amazing characters? Look no further because this one’s gonna steal your heart. Five big stars and very highly recommended.
