Before I Let You Go left me wanting more. Elsbeth is given a life-changing opportunity with the inheritance of an island off the coast of Guernsey. She starts her new solidarity life with bravo, but she soon is met with unexpected challenges. I liked the story but was a bit disappointed in the lack of details with the angel Bishop. Some of the plot points didn’t make sense and instead made me a bit frustrated and wondering if I should finish the book. It wrapped up everything nicely at the end but getting to the end was the best part.

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which had me hooked throughout. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone story. Billionaire Logan Bennett always thought his best friends little sister, Jink was a firecracker but she was off-limits however, she’s now all-grown-up! Jink always found Logan attractive but now she’s older she’s hoping he won’t still see her as his best friends little sister. Unfortunately Logan and best friend Victor are no longer friends and have an ongoing feud which Logan knows will only get worse if he starts dating Jink. Jink doesn’t want to settle for a boring romance and wants a man who knock’s her off her feet, and who she can share a passionate love with but, the only man to make her feel that way is Logan. This is a steamy romance between two people with chemistry that sizzles off the page. Logan and Jink are both likeable and relatable characters and the storyline is full of angst.

I found this to be one of the cutest stories for kids I have read in a long time. I love the idea of it and the cute little hidden twist. Such fun story to read with kids.

The illustrations in this picture book are phenomenal. They are bright, modern, and engaging and go along so well with the book. As always with Wickstrom’s books, there is a lesson to be learned and she does a wonderful job of teaching it; however, with this story, the reader does have to do a little more work on their own to figure it out. Amese of Animalis is the first book in the new Borosa Legacy series by M.J. Murray. It is a fun children’s fantasy story (aimed at children aged 10 – 14 years) — full of magic, elemental guardians who balance life in the universe, action, adventure, fate/destiny, mystery, drama, tension, danger, vivid world-building, agendas, lessons, and high stakes. Amese is 13 years old and embarks on a bit of an epic adventure as she steps up to become a guardian. The weight of the responsibility weighs on her as she needs to refine and master her skills/powers if she is to perform her duties effectively. But maybe not everyone wants to see her succeed, so in order to get through it all she must depend on a most unlikely ally. Add in plenty of imaginative and creative touches, original storyline, and great characters/s- and the story takes a captivating turn. What a great start to the series, making it my favourite of Ms. Murray’s books (so far) — and I can’t wait to see where we go from here. Bring on Book #2! Happy Reading…

Queen of the Fairies by Lois Wickstrom is an illustrated children’s fairy fantasy story with a bit of a twist. The illustrations that accompany the story are very cute, bright, colourful, interesting, and engaging. The way the story started seemed a little abrupt and confusing, but by the time the story finished, I understood more what/why the author did it that way. Web of Evil (Hani’s Daughter Mysteries Book 2) is the 2nd book in the series. It technically could be read as a stand alone, but I really feel like you should read the 1st book to fully understand. The writing style is definitely different than other books I’m used to and I can’t tell if it’s to be representative of Neferet’s thoughts or if it’s the authors style. Either way, it’s different haha
This book Neferet and Bener-Ib once again find themselves solving a murder that landed in their laps. There were a few twists that I did not see coming which I really enjoyed. The ancient Egyptian world fascinates me so I do love learning more about that while reading these stories. Overall, I enjoyed the read and would likely pick up the next.

Chris and the Pirates is the second book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. Kris’s love of reading and vivid imagination means that she gets lost in her books and the stories they contain, getting pulled into all the adventures and experiencing everything alongside the ‘characters’. This time she is set for a bit of a pirate adventure, with islands, treasure, action, friendships, overcoming challenges, dealing with fear, being brave, a rescue mission, agendas, and dramatic developments. This is a intriguing children’s chapter book, that is aimed at children aged 10- 14 years. It was quite a fun read, but also has some lessons/facts to learn along the way. With sailing ships and sailors, to pirates, games, new friendships, songs, talking animals (Sammy the snake, Tammy the turtle, Jack the macaw, Michael the monkey king, and Stevie the sloth), beaches, jungle, swimming, dolphins, vivid world-building, and plenty of imagination, as well as a few small illustrations to head up each chapter, made this a very engaging story. Even though it is the second book in the series, it could be read as a standalone without feeling like you are missing anything, as from what I can gather, each book is a ‘self-contained’ adventure starring Kris. But, having said that I am curious to see what she gets up to in the other books, so I will be going back and reading the first book before continuing on with the series. Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens is the eighth book in the Oscar and Emmy series by Terri Sabol. It is a uplifting children’s story that is woven around some really cute illustrations. Charlie and Abby (twins) have been volunteering at an animal shelter and discuss the possibility of fostering animals with their mother. The family discusses the responsibilities that fostering would bring, and then the opportunity to foster (3) 4 day-old kittens comes along and they embrace the chance to help. We follow along with the twins, as well as Oscar and Emmy (the family cats) as they help care for the kittens. Fostering the kittens from 4 days old to 12/13 weeks when they are put up for adoption. Along the way, we also learn about kitten care, reasons you should foster, facts about fostering/volunteering, and much more. I thought it was a really heartwarming story, especially when they find the perfect fur-ever families for the kittens at the end. So sweet. Happy Reading…

Detective Dylan and the Hunt for Home Plate is the 2nd book in the Youth Sleuths series, but the first one I ready. Dylan has recently gotten his junior detective kit, and is ready to solve another mystery. He shows up for baseball practice, and discovers someone stole the bases! He and his sister Emily, and their dog set out to solve the mystery of the missing bases! Dylan is a really good big brother to Emily. Not sure the ages, but old enough to explore and go to the park on their own with their dog. The bullies of the book are 4th graders, so i imagine younger than that. The book has underlying lessons for the readers, when Emily learns she can do new things, as long as she doesn’t give up. It is a cute beginner chapter book. There are 10 short chapters, making it good for middle to late elementary school. My 2nd grader didn’t have enough attention span, but I enjoyed it. The accompanying illustrations are good and assist the story- helping new readers visualize the characters and the events.

I really loved the art work in this book, the fairies are beautifully done, and the colors are wonderful. This book was fun, wondering what should be written about the Queen of the Fairies, all of the nice things the good fairies do and the not so nice things the bad fairies do. The ending was cute with the writer’s surprise.

As the title suggests, this was indeed a charming story. I can see why you might think that this is a novel for an older audience. But I can honestly say that as a younger person, I really enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming story. Sometimes you just need a romantic sappy story instead of angst angst angst. Also, who doesn’t love a trip to England? I look forward to more books in this series.

I did not read the other 2 books before this one and can be read as a stand-alone.
This is a multi-pov- Not all chapters say whose POV it is but it will be from the POV of the most recent. (Ie: Ch. 1 says June but 2 and 3 have no name but you know it is still June.)
This is an easy read and can suck you in from the first page to the last. It is a slow burn but the spice be spicing when it does happen.
I do not feel like this can be considered dark romance- however, there are parts of it that others may see as “dark” and be triggered (Spiking drinks, kidnapping). This would be a good introduction though, for those who do feel this is a dark romance.
MMC and FMC used to work together, when things went south they took their separate ways but when the FMC finds herself in a bind with her company she turns to the MMC for financial assistance. While he gives her an offer she doesn’t want to accept she has no choice. Due to this, they have to be close again and that’s when all the fun starts. Secrets are let out, jealousy, possessiveness, and one hell of a plot. This does end in a HEA.

Neferet, Bener-ib and Mut-tuy return in this mystery, but this time, they are at their Lord Hani’s farm outside of Waset and it is a national holiday, so all of the family are there, they get to spend lazy days in the shade and sleep outside on a night, it is hot and the middle of summer, so when the men go off to the local river for the morning, nobody is overly concerned, that is until only two of them return and Lord Hani is not among them. The family is in a panic, so Neferet, Bener-ib and Mut-tuy run over to find out what has happened and it is at this point that they see Lord Hani on the riverbank with some of the local villagers and they are pulling something from the river, unfortunately, it is a body.
As the group head back with the corpse to the family holiday home, the physicians follow on and when the shade is reached, they examine the body to find a cause of death and once this is confirmed, the local priests are called to take away the body, but the mystery is who is the person? With this in mind, the three ladies head to the village to report the find to the Mayor, however, when they speak to her and they find out who the unfortunate victim is, the investigation truly starts. As the ladies visit the family of the deceased, they discover they are a family of weavers who have links to Neferet’s home town, but as they ask questions, the mystery is not clear cut.
Will Neferet, Bener-ib and Mut-tuy be able to discover who the perpetrator is and the motive behind this killing, or will the weavers, weave a tangled web which is too complex for them to unravel and will the past repeat itself and danger come calling a little too close to home? This is another historical mystery where justice is wanted, but can it be found, as secrets and lies abound while loyalty is challenged and answers revealed.

The cover it draws me in lol 🤭 well that and the fact i loved the first book. Hidden Mischief. This book still follows Ashton and Zachary while they continue to grow and build their relationship through the ups and downs. I could not finish this book fast Enough. It had twists and turns but that last one at the end, I think no one saw coming. Even though the next one isn’t about them. I really hope we get to see them in it. Speaking of which, 😭 April 30th is almost here yess lol. I can’t wait to read the 3rd book in this series, especially Since the first two were soo good! There’s a costume party and Kris isn’t wanting to go. She’s engrossed in her book and on an adventure! She’s swimming with dolphins and teaching a sailor to swim when all of a sudden, they are surrounded by pirates. The entire crew of sailors, except for Kris and her friend James are captured by the pirates. Kris finds herself running through the jungle and making friends who will help her and her crew out.
This is a super cute book that is full of adventure! Young readers will love to tell this story so sit in your comfy chair and ready yourself!

Finders Keepers, Cowboy is Book 1 in the Match Made in Montana series and I did enjoy this story.. and it is a clean romance with drama, cowboys, secrets and truly a slow burn. There were parts that were a bit to slow. The forced proximity between the two main characters at times I did love the push and pull at times through their story…but sometimes I wanted to shake them…Overall this is a good contemporary romance and I am definitely intrigued what is to come in this series.
Ryan Kincaid and Meg Hawke knew each other since they were young as neighbors with plenty of banter between them and Ryan was always a bit annoyed by Meg…they are different in many ways..when Ryan’s grandfather, Hank, has Meg over to go through his shed and sell some antiques.. Meg and Ryan keep bumping into each other….but will Ryan and Meg be able to break down their walls to discover the love for each other…
Timmy, Arthur and Beth are tasked with finding a time capsule that is almost 200 years old by their old favourite teacher, Mrs. Vance. The capsule originally was supposed to be dug up 100 years ago. When the mayor at that time announced it would continue to be buried for another 100 years, Mrs. Vance’s grandmother had it dug up from its original place and buried it elsewhere. Now all they have to go by is an old map and the fading memory of Mrs. Vance. If they find the capsule within a certain time limit, they will get $1000.
Timmy agrees to look after Mrs. Vances dog, Cody, while she is in the hospital. Little did they know that Cody would be a great help to the mission. She can speak in morse code using her tail, she can track, she can even tell you your fortune. This dog can do it all! The trio plus Cody run around town finding clues and codes that seem to bring them around in circles but they are determined. Will the group find the capsule on time?
I have read some of Lois Wickstroms other books geared towards children and every time I find myself wishing they were around when I was a kid. The topics and plots they write are so fun and original and even in my 30s I find myself enjoying most of what Lois writes.
I absolutely loved Cody! She sounded like a giant sweetheart who was too intelligent for her own good. I would have been all for having my fortune told by that cutie!

This was an absolutely phenomenal first book in the London Detective Agency series! The real world did not exist to me once I opened this book, and I didn’t return until I finished the last page. Typically, when I pick up romantic suspense books, they lean heavily on either the romance or suspense. This book somehow balanced both equally, and I loved it! Evelyn is traveling and her bag gets accidentally swapped by another lady named Megan. Patrick is a PI focusing intently on finding Megan…who looks an awful lot like Evelyn. The chemistry between Patrick and Evelyn is palpable and getting to see them react to each other was wonderful. The tension will keep you captivated throughout the entire story. I highly recommend picking this up if you are looking for a fast-paced, intriguing suspense-filled read!
I absolutely love mysteries and romance and if you do too, you’ll love this selection! Grad student, Evelyn, is embarking on her first overseas trip to Greece for study abroad. She is nervous and excited about this new experience. During the airport in London to catch her connecting flight, some coincidences occur and she happens to stumble into the arms of Patrick. He is a London native and on his first substantial mission as a private investigator looking for a female who looks very similar to Evelyn. After being mistaken for this other female, they end up in each other’s company and now Patrick’s job is to protect Evelyn while catching the Fitzgeralds, a local mafia type family. Now Evelyn is not only at a loss of what will happen next but she becomes under the protection of a very attractive PI. Patrick is very driven on cracking down on this crime driven Fitzgeralds but is distracted when Evelyn comes into the picture. This book is book one in the series and I am definitely looking forward to the other ones in this series!

What a great second installment to the Hani’s Daughter Mysteries series. We get to experience this story alongside Neferet and Bener-ib, and it is incredibly suspenseful! I adore authors that include character lists, a glossary, and other notes at the beginning of the book because it kind of sets the stage. I also love how the characters are developed because Neferet is a force to be reckoned with. They ran into some unnerving mysteries and had me on the edge of my seat throughout. I definitely lost quite a bit of sleep because I needed to know what was going to happen next. The flow of the story felt so natural and before I knew it, I had blown through the entire book! I highly recommend picking up the first book before this one, but whatever you do, don’t miss out!

Neferet and Bener-ib are back with another mystery on their hands. While visiting Neferet’s family home, her father shows up with a corpse found in the water. Upon investigating, the women find the cause of death to be a blow to the head. Not sure if accidental or on purpose, Neferet is assuming murder.
Neferet and Bener-ib head into the town to identify the body. Turns out, everyone knew the victim but also everyone hated him for some reason or another.
Everyone is a suspect and it’s up to Neferet to narrow down the lists. She doesn’t know what are truths and what are lies as they get tangled information along the way.
Neferet has grown a lot from the first book of the series but she is still a fiery, stubborn yet kind woman. She is intelligent and quick to come to conclusions. This time around, it was easier for me to keep track of names. I love how Neferet will fight for what’s right even when no one else will!
Neferet and Bener-ib are two young women who are skilled healers. They opened up their own practice in hopes to help all those who need it. Unfortunately, another healer spread lies and rumors about the duo causing them to not have any patients. It doesn’t help that this book is set in ancient Egypt times, where women are usually seen and not heard.
To make things even more difficult for the women, their first patient is a dying man who cannot be saved. Someone murdered him. Neferet takes it upon herself to follow in her father’s footsteps and find out who did it.
The journey is a hard one. No one will take her seriously without a male present. Even her own father seems against Neferet doing this. She will stop at nothing to find justice for the man and to prove herself to everyone in the process.
I enjoyed this book. The author wrote a strong willed woman, trying to end sexist stereotypes and I was all for it. Neferet is intelligent and caring. She helps anyone without prejudice. She even takes in strays, whether it’s an animal or even orphan children.
Bener-ib mostly just followed Neferet around and acted as a wallflower but it worked for them.
My only downfall for this book is all of the difficult but yet similar names. I found it tough to keep track of names of the secondary characters.
I am excited about what the author is going to do for book 2 in the series!
This book is a continuation of Zach and Ashton’s story. It definitely gets better in this book. There’s a lot more going on and the book gets better and better. As they get to know more about eachother, what they have is tested. Will they be able to overcome what Happens next? There’s definitely more spice in this book with relationshipy stuff too. I enjoyed reading more about this couple and seeing how they get passed certain things. I had a real soft spot for Ashton in the first book loved to see her grow.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and will continue to read more. The story is interesting and flows well. I couldn’t put it down. Even though this is a series, it can be read as a standalone. Very good book!
This would be perfect to read to your kids as the chapters are decently short, or would be a great read for kids just getting into chapter books. Kris likes to get lost in a good book, and this time she goes on a grand adventure with a pirate crew, but when everyone gets captured by bad pirates, she has to swiftly figure out how to save everyone. She meets many different animals along the way, and even learns some things about each one. This story really shows how we can go on so many adventures just by reading.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I’m hooked! Evelyn is traveling abroad for part of her Thesis program for Graduate School. She finds herself in the airport in London trying to make her connecting flight.
In the midst of trying to navigate the airport she bumps into someone and inadvertently grabs the wrong bag, as does the person that bumps into her. This starts a series of events that will change her life.
Patrick, a handsome PI, “saves” her… not at first but he does end up getting her out of harms way and into the thick of it all. Truly thinking he had the person he was seeking he leaves the airport with Evelyn in tow and the unknown persons bag.
That’s where it starts to unfold. What a ride it becomes! I love the dynamic between Evelyn, Patrick and James throughout this whole story.

This book is a brilliant, entertaining story that is well written and perfect for its intended audience. My daughter has just moved on to reading books like this and it was a great addition to add to her collection. We both connected with the story easily and became really engrossed in the story. It was written in a way to draw you in and painted a creative image. The book is exciting and action packed the whole way. It grabs your attention and makes you want to read more. At each page my daughter was asking questions and wanted to know about the story. this was a really great book and a fantastic way to discover a new author.
