Retelling but with a twist. Once again, Lois Wickstrom allows your imagination to flourish with this retelling of a classic. We all know Jack and the Beanstalk, but did Jack really steal the goose and golden harp? From the eyes of the giant Earth boys are just lazy and easy to pick. Until Jack shows he’s not as easy to trick as the giant thought. My six-year-old once again loved this retelling of a classic and even my eleven-year-old giggled a time or two when there was a twist. Each of the author’s books give me a newfound love for the classic stories I grew up on and I love getting to share them with my boys in a new way.

In the community of Oaken Acres, these retirees are living their day-to-day lives while dealing with the struggles that come with a retirement community…HOAs that won’t budge on their rules, yapping dogs, nosy neighbors, neighbors moving, and…murder?!?
I don’t want to give anything away because it is a shorter book and you really should just jump right in. The author does give a little index of characters at the beginning that helps when figuring out who holds what position and does what in the community. It tends to go back and forth between characters rather quickly.
While each of the characters has their own story that will remind you of someone you know in real life…there seems to be a bigger picture at play here. It’s a snapshot of any elderly community in the country (maybe a little exaggerated) and that’s what really drew me in. It was a good story that I enjoyed reading.

What an emotional and captivating story this book turned out to be. The main character has been through so much. He is broken and flawed and yet so relatable. My heart cried out for him and I wanted so badly for him to accept he help he clearly needed. I think I connected with him more because his mental health issues were clear and open, not something that was brushed aside and glossed over. This author is pretty new to me and I am enjoying discovering their work. The quality of writing is fantastic and this book is the perfect example. If all her books are like this, I cannot wait to read more of what is on offer.

I really enjoyed Flowers of Evil by N. L. Holmes. Egyptian times have always fascinated me and I absolutely love the world that Holmes created! Bringing ancient times to life, painting vivid scenes and characters but also relatable. you can feel the injustice and unfairness of how Neferet and Bener-ib are treated because of their gender. Of course, with rich worlds and deep characters comes a lot of lengthy paragraphs of descriptions, which can be harder for me to fall into. But I had no issues with this one, as it captured my interest and imagination completely. Really looking forward to the next one!

Wow! This is an emotional ride. I came into the series at this point. I will need to go back and read the previous books. The book starts pretty intense and I was drawn right in. This book was one of those that took me by surprised by how good it was. I expected a well written romance but I didn’t expect to connect with the characters so much. Something about them drew me in from the start and I could not help but want to read more about them. Their connection was strong but it was also fun. I enjoyed the overall story. It was such an entertaining book but it had a depth to it I didn’t think it would. This author has created an amazing story with some incredible characters right at its center. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I will definitely be reading them all if they are as good as this one!

This was the first book in the Notebook Mysteries series that I’ve read, and I must say that Kimberly Mullins did not disappoint. I will be going back and reading these books in order and cannot wait to reread this book once I’ve got all of the backstories read. As a standalone novel, this book had me intrigued, I loved how the characters were developed so strongly that I understood them right away, there was no doubt that they were there to solve a mystery and would be successful without a doubt. I love the fact that this not only draws attention to the characters, but you get to experience the beauty of Paris and the excitement around the Eiffel Tower. The setting was portrayed perfectly, I felt like I could reach out and feel the scenery as it went by, I was on the train with all of our characters. I was in doubt of who was a friend and who was a foe, developing a deep mistrust for several of our new characters that are a part of the story. This is a great mystery book, and I am excited to go back and reexperience it all anew as I pour over the previous books in the series. This book had me on pins and needle during the entire reading. It’s definitely different from the previous MC books I have read. I really don’t understand why there is so much violence among a “friends /family”. I am in shock at the way it ended or rather didn’t. There is a continuation which I would love to read the whole thing. Bella kept my feelings going throughout the book, I felt Lily’s love for Venom and her love for Slash as well. She definitely keeps you on your toes throughout the book. There is a character from another MC group that I thought was brought in, however I realized that its just another character’s name not the same person. I can’t wait to see if I can review the next book.

Jessica has to be pretty strong to have survived her childhood. Now as an adult she is still fighting her past secrets. She has got to get past her bad habits and get her mind on her job. Her help will not come from her drinking and overactive bad habits. Jessica is a strong detective, you get to watch her transformation as she puts on her detective hat and gets to work. This story is filled with twists and turns. The suspense is high octane and I could not put it down. The events are believable as well as scary.So much mystery is involved and you can’t help pulling on the side of Jessica. The author has once again intrigued my interest and I look forward to seeing where this series will go.
Indigo has made a name for herself in the gaming and software business. She is a sharp businesswoman, but because of her past,is not trusting of others, except her 3 friends that helped her get to where she is today. Gideon wasn’t there at the beginning, but has also found a place among her circle of friends. When a friend’s dying wish is for Indigo to let go of her mistrust and find “the one”, her eyes are opened to the one that has been under her nose the whole time. I really enjoyed this book and how the characters find their own strength. Definitely add this to your TBR list!

The Ring of Eagna is Book Four in The Cross of Ciaran series. This book carries on where the previous book left off so if you have not yet read the first few books in this series, I highly recommend that you do. They introduce to the characters, and the backstory while providing important details. Without reading them first you may feel a bit lost in the storyline. Aodhan and Ciaran are off on another adventure after they find an ancient manuscript written a thousand years ago by a monk in tenth century Ireland. The manuscript describes a mythical treasure that requires three ancient rings to access it. Ciaran and Aodhan already have two rings, so they feel that acquiring the third ring will not be so difficult. However, along the way they discover that they are not the only ones trying to locate the treasure and things become dangerous for the two men. The tension and drama intensifies as Ciaran and Aodhan fight to survive.
This is a fast paced, action packed, book that is chock full of adventure, danger, suspense, mystery, magic, intrigue, and twists and turns that will keep you reading until the very end. The author does a fantastic job of providing detailed historical information that fully immerses the reader into the storyline along with the characters. A fantastic read that with a riveting storyline that is impossible to put down.

It was such a quick read and I was wishing for more of this story!

I enjoyed reading this dark romance story. A story filled with steam, anger and betrayal. I enjoyed how the author brought the story to life with her attention to details that made me feel part of the story. A story that is well written and hard to put down. A story where the characters pull you into their world and keep you engaged to the end. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. I really enjoyed these characters and what they brought to the story. Lily is my favorite character. She is strong, determined and has been through so much. I felt for her for sure. She refused to let dark forces take her down but now there is something else keeping her caught up in this web. This is a must read story you don’t want to miss. A fast paced, engaging story that I highly recommend.

This is the fourth book in this series. This is a series that I highly suggest reading the previous books before this one to help you understand the characters and where they have been. This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the beginning. It takes you on an adventure that keeps you coming back again and again. Ciaran and Aodhan have something that some thieves want and will do what needs to be to get these things back. But these two are not willing to give up the items without a fight. You don’t want to miss what happens and who will win out. This is a fast paced, adventurous story that is hard to put down. It is engaging and has great growth throughout. An easy to read story that is entertaining. I highly recommend this book.

This is the 6th book in the Notebook Mysteries series. These books can be read as a standalone however I do recommend reading them in order so you get a complete picture of the characters and how they have grown throughout the series. This is a great historical mystery story. The author does an amazing job of researching the time period and the attention to detail really pays off as the past comes alive and the reader is transported to that time period. This story like the others are full of twists and turns, danger,intrigue, Mysteries, secrets and lies that Emma and her companion have to unravel and solve to be able to solve the mystery. The team are in Paris for a big event and while they are there 2 Mysteries appear. One is a young woman who appears and disappears. What is it that she wants or needs and and can Emma and Jeremy help her? The second mystery happens when Dora is told a secret which could have a devastating effect on the exposition. Should she investigate and try and solve this with the help for Tim or will it be to late?
I was completely captivated by this story and couldn’t put it down until i reached the end. I love the characters growth through this series and how strong, confident and resilient Emma has now become. I can’t wait to read more
This book has a unique storyline, where a romance between two emotionally injured characters develops around gardening. It is an emotional roller coaster as the two main protagonists are complex. Holly had to witness a tragedy in the past first hand and is emotionally healing herself working as a nurse and a gardener. Kit is a passionate gardener, but he is also dealing with his past, a complex muddle of guilt and violence. When Kit hires Holly, sparks fly, a passionate romance develops between them. But when things take a turn, will trust sustain between them. Can the passion develop into a life long relationship? This is my first book of this author. I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This was my first hockey romance and I was not disappointed! I love Toni Aleo, I’ve read her books before so I knew what I was getting into, but Dimitri and Austen’s relationship hit a little different for me. I don’t know if it’s because I really didn’t like Dimitri starting off or what, but I have always loved the way Aleo develops her characters and she does an exceptional job with Dimitri here because by the end of the book, I was on his side. I really loved how much he had to work (and didn’t really mind it) it get on the Assassins. I admire Austen’s determination to overcome all of her trauma, religious trauma at that (something that I think many authors shy away from, but Aleo dealt with it very well). I really love the banter between Dimitri and Austen and how they really do heal each other and are genuinely good for one another. This is definitely a must read.

This is a really cute sea-themed counting book for your littles. I love the rhyming throughout the book and the descriptions on each page. I also like at the end how Ann gives interesting facts about starfish as well as a QR code so you can download the sing-a-long. This would be a great addition to any gift for soon-to-be parents (especially if their theme or décor was beach for sea).

Honestly, I love this book because how Vic’s life was a roller coaster of chaos and so much abuse but she continues to keep on going. This would be my first time having hard trouble coping with this story because it is horrible that a person goes through so much to find happiness but love will have it last and sometimes you have to go through a lot to see who you are. Logan will do anything for Vic even face the hate from the stepfather and face a lot to get to her. The author did an amazing job with this story and the characters are incredible.

5 out of 5 because I never thought that I will love the way the author has me. Bella Faust has me wanting to read these types of books and I have to say I am in love with Lili she is a strong character and I can’t believe that her best friend did her dirty. I have to read Craving Control to find out what happened. But I am ready to read the second book.
Emma and Jeremy are in the swig of their business, until one day an invitation arrives for them to travel to Paris, although at first this seems like a gracious gift from a benefactor it all seems just too perfect. Although to there better judgement they decide to take the trip and explore the sights of Paris and the Exposition which is due to be there too.
So while they are seeing the sights and wonderful innovations Emma and Jeremy stumble upon a girl who requires there help but as soon as they are helping her she vanishes, can they find her an understand what is going on, while Dora and Tim are caught up in a plot which they have been told about regarding the exposition, can they race against the time and find out what is really going on, you will have to read the book.
This is the sixth book in the series and although this is a series each book can be read as a standalone, the nice thing in reading the whole series is you get to see the relationship grow between Emma and Jeremy over the time and how the whole crew got together.
I love the historical aspect of the story and the vivid descriptions and words feel like you are transported back to 1889 and experiencing all this with the characters of the book. I love the way these stories weave a web and thrilling adventures that feel like you are with the characters and helping them solve the mysterious as you go along.
I can’t wait to keep reading more and look forward to the next book in this series.

This is a great book for young kids just learning how to read and count. The story itself is easy but engaging. I would recommend this book for kids in lower elementary or below. Rather they can read on their own or not, kids are going to love the beautiful artwork found within this book. Kim Onn has written a great book to get kids interested in counting and in starfish, while Nejla Shojaie has drawn beautiful works of art to engage imaginations.

Indigo is a genius, anything programming or gaming she is into it, building up her companies from scratch with the help of her friends she is on top of the software world. Although she has not had that many relationships, with her past it seems easier to live alone but when Athena’s brother shows up, Indigo starts getting feelings and reactions she has not had with anyone.
Gideon has searched long and hard for his sister, her thought she had abandoned him all those years ago but now retired from the army and reunited with her her is in a great place. So living with one of Athena’s friends seemed the logical thing to do, so here he is in Indigo’s guest house and with his friendship blossoming with this intriguing lady he starts to development more than friendship feelings.
When there is a threat to Indigo’s life she asks Gideon to be her bodyguard so they can blend in when she is at her conference, can there relationship stay friends or is more brewing under the surface and can they both admit their feelings to each other?
This the second book in the Green St Girls series and although this is the second book I believe it can be read as a stand alone book, as you go through it does explain who certain people are in relation to each other.
Indigo has had struggles and with her past still so raw your heart really goes out for her, trying to run her companies with this attacker after her really weighs a toll on her and you get to see the sassy, badass girl she is which is brilliant to read. Gideon is a quiet force of nature, having his issues have only made this man even more lovably, he is patient and calm with Indigo but when he needs to become the alpha male he is gentle and tries to let her have the ahhhh moment which is great to read.
I love these stories and if you have not read Athena’s and Tru’s story you need to it is brilliant. Now I hope Gwyn’s story is next as she needs some love in her life.

Emma, Jeremy, Dora, and Tim receive an anonymous gift of a trip to Paris during the time of the Exposition. After checking to make sure the gift is legit, they hop aboard a train to get to the ship that takes them across the pond to France. Both couples make new friends on the trip over, and Emma has a hard time adjusting to the idea of not having Dora to herself. She finds herself feeling suspicious of Dora and Tim’s new “friends”. She tries to put those fears aside and just enjoy the trip, but too many “happenings” pop up to keep it all as innocent as it seems. Of course, there is mystery and hijinks happening… I mean, it’s Emma! How could there not be? As the mysteries begin to pile up, Emma finds that her reputation precedes her, which works out fortuitously for all involved!
I truly enjoy this series! The antics, the banter, the characters, they all draw me into the story and time. The author does a fantastic job of finding historical stories and adding her characters into the mix of what could have been happening behind the scenes. The amount of detail and care taken to describe what is going on around them and how the characters feel about what is happening was perfect for me. I felt like I could see their expressions and excitement as they first beheld the Exposition and all of its grandeur. I felt the crush of the crowds as they tried to work their way inside or out of exhibits. It was engaging and very well thought out. I look forward to the next one!
This book is the first book in the Shadow Defense Security series, and it definitely did not disappoint. I truly cannot wait to see what comes next from this series and this author. Mavery Ellscott weaves a tale of mystery, intrigue, suspense, and love. Keira O’Ryan is soon to be a partner at her PR company, but she has a secret she’s been keeping for months. She has been getting AirDrop images of herself sent by an unknown number, that not only make her feel uncomfortable, but also let her know that she has a stalker who is intent on keeping tabs on her. When her neighbor, Cade Hartford intervenes to try and help her find her stalker and stop the terrifying ramp up of the things that are going on around Keira. This book will keep you guessing to the end.

Athena is young and successful, being thrown out of your home at 17 and force to live on your own was a hard lesson to learn but in walked the family I choose, my girls, Gwyn, Indigo and Charlie became all the family I needed. Until Charlie got ill and all the money in the world which they had could not save her, so on her death bed in typical Charlie style she made me promise to live life and find love.
Tru is living the life he always wanted, most people say a Professional Pool Player is not really a career but tell his bank that. All he is interested in is the top prize and winning this will catapult him to the top of the listing and more sponsorship and recognition he deserves. Arriving at the venue he spots a beautiful woman who he just needs to get know, when they finally get to chat he discovers that she is the owner of the pub and various other clubs and bars throughout the country.
As Athena gets to know Tru she is more aware that the intial fun she wanted to share is becoming more serious and that Charlie may have had a point of finding a forever person and she may have found them in Tru.
Can they both put there past behind them and embrace the future together?
I loved this book, it is full of emotion and tragedy which is heart-breaking and draws you in from the first chapter. I loved the character of Athena, she is definitely a woman to not mess with, with her passion and ambition was a refreshing read and that said Tru was just enough Alpha to be strong with her but his softer side really was a counter and calming influence to Athena which was lovely.
I loved the secondary characters and they enhanced the story and showed that family can be grown and chosen, with the way they were complete ready to have each other backs and damn the world was brilliantly and engaging to read. Thank you for a brilliant and well written story and can’t wait to read about the Green Street Girls.

Heavy Shot is the seventh book in the sports Nashville Assassins: Next Generation series. This is my first read by author Toni Aleo and I was not disappointed one bit! But I didn’t realise it was the seventh book in the series until I went looking for the next book to read. Now I have an excuse to go back and read the series from the very beginning! Heavy Shot was a very entertaining story that had some laughter, tears and possible love, but when there was laughter didn’t mean that it’s all fun and games. There is a fair share of some early childhood trauma that comes into play. This emotional heartfelt tale is spicy and plenty of sparks fly as Demitri and Austen give in to what they want. The characters are so likable, well developed and easy to fall in love with as their story develops….they may even steal your heart! The only way to find out is to pick up the book and read it for yourself! Like I stated earlier this is the seventh book in the Assassin series but it can be read as a stand alone! So, we have a story about “Nolan” and “Jack”. We understand from the prequel that these two find each other and do not divulge their real names. Well, when Jack is thrown back into his life, they have to sort out one thing that she is unable to deny.. that they have a daughter together, who is named Viviana. Nolan is really Isaac, and Jack is really Giacomina. I know, all very confusing. But not really if you have read the prequel.
Let’s get into the juicy details. These two spent years apart, thinking about each other nonstop. When Isaac is thrown into being a dad, the first time Vivi called Isaac, “daddy”, brought tears to my eyes. Their immediate connection is amazing and what every dad should aspire to be. Minus the ruthless threatening and harassing he partakes in with his competitors.
This novel has amazing characters, great world building, and is steamy. There is an actual storyline, so it is not all smut. I work in a courtroom myself, so the fact that the author knows and understands how attorneys work instead of making it up is awesome. I highly recommend to any romance novel reader out there. I definitely anticipate reading Gabe’s story next, but we will see what the next book has in store! I cannot wait to dive into it!
