Underneath the Whiskey was a complex novel with even more complex characters. If you’re looking for a light, fluffy read… this isn’t the book for you. If you’re looking for a book that evokes true emotions and a wide range of them, I recommend giving this book a try. That being said, the book is centered around real, heavy subject matter that can he hard to read but I do think the author really did craft a well developed story. I did not connect or identify with the characters in this novel but their stories and depth was truly realistic and appreciated on my part. This was a new to me author with a great ability to right a deep, realistic storyline and I would be happy to read more.

4.5 stars The bullies are back and in fine form in the conclusion of Skylar and Damon’s story. Brutal Nights is a fourth dynamic book in this dark enemies-to-lovers, YA/NA romance book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. I have enjoyed them all and they keep getting better. High school has never looked more different in this romance. Brutal Nights is an intriguing web of lies and deceit, angst and drama, heat and fear, secrets and jealousy. There are a lot of layers and intensity to these characters who are bullies who are rule the Academy. They take what they want, do what they want. The world where the Elite exists is about to come crumbling down around them. He rules on and off the ground. He is but One who plays dark and dangerous games and he wants her. Nothing will stand in his way and if it does beware! Isla Vaughn has come in to her own with this series and it just keeps on getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next book Cruel Start.

What begins as a plan for revenge quickly takes twists and turns that have the characters questioning things around them. It is filled with family secrets, lies, and betrayal…but also explores the dom/sub genre of s/m which is not often described. As Ethan and Siena go forward in their very unorthodox business arrangement, Ethan is able to demonstrate the side of himself that he is aware of…while Siena discovers what she enjoys and desires in the bedroom (or other places). Add in the mafia, building a business from the ground up, and a jilted ex….and the story just keeps getting better.
I found myself fully immersed in this story form the moment I started reading it. These characters had sizzling chemistry from the first time they meet. The secondary characters each added to the story. Ethan and Siena grew as the story progressed…each having their own reasons in the beginning…and those reasons morphing along the way into feelings (even if neither of them wants to admit it). It was a good story that I enjoyed reading!

Brutal Nights is the Fourth Book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. This book continues with the story of Sky, Gia, and Damon that we met in the third book in the series. If you have not already read it, I recommend that you read it first or you may feel lost. Gia and Sky are best friends, or were, until they were both fighting over the same guy, Damon. Gia wanted Sky to set her up with him, but Sky and Damon instead became attracted to one another. The passion between them has intensified and could no longer be denied, which Gia learns the hard way when she walks in on the two of them. Gia not only becomes angry but chooses to retaliate by bullying Sky and enlisting others to help her carry out her cruelness towards Sky. Sky is devastated over losing her best friend and wants to win her back, so she pushes Damon away. However, Damon realizes that he really likes Sky, enjoys her friendship, and wants to be with her so he is not going without a fight. As the drama between the trio unfolds Sky is terrified that all her secrets will be revealed and that her whole world will collapse in around her.
I was riveted from the first few pages and wanted to see what would become of Sky and Damon. The passion, suspense, danger, intrigue, suspense, and angst are intense as Sky and Damon’s story reaches its conclusion. The characters were well written, and the storyline was attention grabbing, making you want to read until the end to see how things turn out. It was great seeing how much the character of Damon matured through the book and seeing a softer side of him. Gia is such a spoiled, self-centered, self-serving bully that I could not help but want to slap her. I admired Sky’s strength in how she handled not only the bullying by Gia and her friends but also the conflicts as they unfolded. A great read that I highly recommend!

This book was so much more heart wrenching and emotional than I expected when I first start reading. I was completely captivated by Ben and his story. It really seemed to touch me and the thought that people genuinely feel like they need to live a hidden is saddening. I loved to watch how the story developed and I was fully behind Ben and Caden right from the start. This is a new author to me and, if this book is anything to go by, I will definitely be reading more. I loved this story and I am looking forward to whatever is next.

This series just seems to go from strength to strength. I could not wait to get my hands on this book, I just had to see how things would progress with these characters. I was instantly hooked on this book and pulled straight back into their story. I devoured this in one sitting and could still have read even more. I have even started re-reading this series again from scratch. I love the connection the characters in this series all seem to have. It is undeniable, right from the first page and I am completely pulled in to it. This author I fast becoming one of my favourites and I cannot wait to read more.

Wow just wow. This is the second part to Damon and Sky’s story and omg it didn’t disappoint. I have loved every book in Hidden Valley Elite series. This is book 4 and the second part of the story in Brutal Days. I don’t want to give too much away but you definitely need to read these books in order so you get the full story. This book is about Damon and Sky and their unusual start. It is full of attraction, chemistry, angst, loss of friendship, and danger that was almost lethal. The chemistry and attraction between the couple jumps off the page and their love/hate relationship only kept me hooked even more.
Will this couple realise how perfect and ment for each other they are? Or will circumstances surrounding them mean they lose the chance to even try.
I adore this series and I can’t wait for the next one.

Talks Like Thunder is the first book in the Red With Native Blood series. It is a coming-of-age story, suitable for YA readers, which follows a young woman whose life is turned upside down as a child by diseases brought by white settlers and who has to learn to live in a world where her community is constantly under threat.
This is an engaging story which draws on history both to educate and to enhance the reader’s experience. There are plenty of details which bring the story to life, as the writers paint a strong, sensory picture. It’s beautiful to read!
At times, this book gets quite dark and sad as it addresses historical atrocities. For younger or more sensitive readers, it may be worth reading together with someone else so you can discuss what happens and the issues that are raised.
I would recommend this to fans of historical fiction, particularly those with an interest in Indigenous American culture and history. It gets five stars from me, I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Twisted Bond is your typical enemies to lovers romance novella, with a dded twist of magic. Rose is trying to get her coven’s magic back from the coven that stole it and cursed them. Titan is the prince of the enemy coven but isn’t quite sure whether or not he wants to take over from his father. He finds himself enchanted with Rose and doesn’t know why. This novella moves very quickly, so if you are looking for something fast paced with a little smut and very little world building, this is for you. For me, I enjoy thorough world building and a solid establishment of the magic system, so the pace of this left me wanting a little more. There were some plot holes, but the interaction between the characters makes up for it in the end.

The art in this book is absolutely beautiful. Hudson and his baby brother Cooper are the cutest. I love that this touches on self love for kids, I see lots of children always trying to be helpful and wanting to help, but its nice that they take time to do what they want to do, and adults should encourage that.
Sweet book, lovely art work. This is great to show kids all of their teachers will not be the same every year, that they come in many different ages, races, sizes, and genders. That the teachers they have throughout school will all be different in regards to how they teach and how they act, but at the end of the day they just want to spread their knowledge onto the next generation.
I enjoyed this small town romance story. This is the first book in this series and it is a great start. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. Their story is one present and past. Phoebe and Laurent made a promise to each other, if they weren’t married at age 40 they would marry each other. Forty years to the present, Phoebe asks Laurent to marry her but she can’t fall in love with him. Easy, right? Phoebe is about to find out how hard it is to keep that promise. I enjoyed watching the growth and chemistry of these two. They are strong characters that made the story for me. They made the story easy to read and hard to put down. This is a story you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. They are well written and have a realistic feeling. This book is no different. This is the fourth book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series. It will help you enjoy this author and her characters. This is a fast paced story where the characters pull you into their world and keep you engaged to the end. They each bring something to the story which adds to the entertaining value. An enemies to lovers story that is full of romance and steamy. There is great growth of the plot as well as the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The Messy Kids by Lois Wickstrom. I love this author, her books are so wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated. They also always teach kids something in the lovely stories. This one is about Chester who doesn’t want to clean his room so he goes outside to clean the “sandbox’. While he is playing in the sandbox the “messy” kids come over to play. They end up following him into the house to help him clean his room. Such a fun book for ages 4-8. My nephews have loved all these books and they would make amazing gifts too. I have bought several of all of them.

This story is absolutely amazing!!! Both reluctant to meet for business dealings neither of them is interested in, Caitlin and Evarist are both strong willed and bullheaded, yet charming and enjoyable, sweet, and lovable. Their relationship is so fun, as they get to know each other while also rediscovering themselves. The author does such an amazing job creating characters that are so real with such incredible back stories. Every time you think you are figuring everything out; she throws in another head spinning plot twist. The Characters and lore intertwined into this story is so detailed and thought out making this a truly fascinating story or stories 😉

Bailey’s brother has a list of things to make her better. She is a serial dater, dating men (usually only once) just to get to go out to eat. But when a customer of hers ask her out, she shoots him down flat. When she runs into that customer, Tanner, who happens to be with her brother, her brother adds more rules to follow. Bailey then goes out with him, because she can’t break the rules, and ends up enjoying his company. Opinion The writing style of this book reminds me of Elizabeth Hayley’s Truth or Dare series. It is quite funny while telling a tale that has many twists and turns. While her brother meant well, it frustrated me that she would just do what he asked. (There’s little to no chance that I would agree to follow my brother and his list of rules.) The ending was super sweet and made the read completely worth it.

Its the story of two sisters Melody and Sahara, Melody is out of work pretty but plain and living with her sister and Sahara is a successful super model, beautiful and dating a billionaire named Keith. Melody can’t stand Keith and thinks he has a very dark past. Sahara thinks Melody is just jealous. Melody is determined to find out the truth about Keith and expose his dark side and while digging into his past she must disturb something because Sahara gains a stalker. Sahara and Melody are in danger with this stalker and the more Melody digs the more danger they are in. Will Melody be able to prove to Sahara that Keith is not who he says he is or will she have meddled with the wrong person? Read this fast paced thriller to find out.

Toby’s story is one that was so interesting because she was literally the girl next door. She was so far from the person you would think would do the things she did. I was so into this book I couldn’t put it down. True Crime has always been a fascination of mine, and this story was such a great one. Toby really get into details, not just about the crime, but about life as a convicted felon. Her insight and honesty is raw and beautiful. What a magical book. We all have someone in our lives that tells us you just need to do this better and you’d be perfect. And if it’s not a someone it’s ourselves. Well Bailey had that someone. Pushed by her older brother to be perfect. She accepts a date with tanner. Ugh why tanner she thinks. Unsatisfied with his outward appearance, tanner has a heart of gold. Sarcasm, quick wit and honesty prove to be the perfect foundation for this everblooming rose.
A really enjoyable read and perfect for teens with clean romance and comedic lines.

This book was an incredible read! The author did an amazing job of writing this memoir. It was refreshing reading this book from the somewhat peaceful view of an inmate. The author takes you on a journey through the lens of hope and I’m here for it! It was very well written and kept my attention all the way through the book! Memoirs are my favorite genre of book to read because you are able to see the life of someone and their thought processes in what they face. I loved this one!

A Toast for Laurent, is the first book in the Vine Valley series by Theresa Paolo. This book will instantly get you in your feels and you will not want to put it down. Theresa Paolo has developed two great characters in this small-town romance. They have chemistry that really makes the story line come to life. I loved diving into this book and really wish it was longer because I enjoyed reading about these two. I can not wait to read more of this series!

Stalked by The Devil is the second in the To Kiss a Stalker series but is a stand alone book. This was my first book by Stacey DeAnne. The story took a lot of chapters to get into but I did finally get there. It was a suspenseful tale full of woes. I did not expect the stalker to be who it was and the story to have so many twists.

This story was intense and full of drama. Skylar and Gia are at odds over Damon. Damon’s in love with Skylar. Daddy’s getting out of prison. Oh, it’s so intense and it sucks you right in. This is the final installment of Damon and Skylar’s story. Damon started off an asshole but he seems to be turning into a caring guy that really loves Skylar. You can see some changes. It is high school so there is that. It is nice to see old faces pop up. I couldn’t put down. I had to finish it pretty quick because I wanted to know what was going to happen. It was nice to see the changes they all made in the story and that ending, didn’t see that coming. Another fantastic installment of the series and I can’t wait to start the next. The author knows how to write to get you engaged in the story.

I definitely recommend that you read Brutal Days before you read Brutal Nights. I honestly would recommend book one of this series but to know more about Damon and Skylar you need to at least read Brutal Days. Damon and Skylar’s story has been my absolute favorite so far. There is so much tension, sexual and everything. There are small twists full of action. I really enjoyed the ending of Brutal Nights. Great book and a quick read if you get into it like I did.

This was a really moving and emotional story that really makes you stop and think about the struggle some people go through behind the scenes when everything looks great from the outside. The author deals with some really tough subject such as depression, alcoholism, confused sexuality and the struggle of living a lie and the toll it takes.
Ben from the outside has life mind. He has a loving wife, children who adore him and a successful business but he’s not happy. He is hiding a secret about himself, I secret he has been told to hide and avoid all his life. However like with most secrets hiding them takes it toll and when Caden walks into Ben’s life everything falls apart. For so long he has denied who he is but now with Caden he has a chance to be true to himself. But the stress of having 2 separate lives start to take their toll on Ben so he turns to drink to ease the pain. Now he has 2 demons to fight, the drink and his true sexuality. Both of these things leave him on the verge of losing everything he loves.
This is such a moving and emotional story of one man’s fights and struggles to come to terms with himself and be his true self while also fighting against alcoholism. My heart hurt for the things Ben had to go through and it makes it even harder when you realise that even though this is a fiction story that people are living this life and struggling like this right now. It is a very emotional and thought provoking read

Another good story in this series. I was super excited for these two’s story. I struggled with Zara a bit since she is so wishywashy but eventually I understood her though and reasoning. Noah is just the best guy every. Yes he has a few hangups but overall he is a forever guy. He is kind, patient and a all around nice guy that everyone likes. I loved the Auction scenes! Very humorous. We do see characters from previous books in here as well as from other series (which I have not read) a few scenes seemed the same with just different secondary characters.
Overall this is a good story. It has characters that did some growing and changing. I look forward to the next in the series.

A Toast For Laurent is the first book in the Vine Valley series by Theresa Paolo. It is a small town second chance romance with friendship, family, drama, danger, chemistry, spice, finding love unexpectedly, and emotion. There was also a little intrigue and drama, which definitely added an extra element of tension and interest to the whole story. Twenty years ago Laurent and Phoebe made a promise to marry each other if they were both still single when they reached forty. So, after all those years Phoebe is back and intent on seeing it through. But what does Laurent think of the plan, especially after the pain she caused? What happens makes for a fun read. This book is the first in a new series, so I will definitely be reading each new instalment as they release. Looking forward to A Thirst for Franc (Book #2). Happy Reading…

This was an excellent book! This book had me instantly hooked, turning pages faster than ever. This author has an amazing way have writing that leaves you feeling every emotion that’s being portrayed. I promise you must read this right now; you won’t be disappointed! It’s a great story! I’m still in shock and can’t wait to read further about this author and her story. Highly Recommend!

Wow this book was a rollercoaster ride! So many unexpected situations happened and I was constantly saying “WTF” out loud! Incredible book though! Characters are phenomenal and the story…that whole story was so DEEP. The feelings this book pulled out of me..I can’t even describe. There’s a lot of DARK topics in this book so it may be triggering to some..but I enjoyed this book even during the “WTF” moments.
