Hanging Softly in the Night was an intriguing detective-led thriller with multiple layers of overlapping storylines that had me intrigued throughout the entire story. Detective Nick Larson and partner Victor Sacco had the type of banter you imagine all New York City detectives to have with one another and were armed with intellect, experience and insight. Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra has a gripping writing style that takes the reader into the role of NYC detective and keeps you wanting more. Great story progression- I very much look forward to reading the next Detective Nick Larson story!

This was my first read by this author, and I was not disappointed one bit! If you love fantasy, conflict, different point of character views, this book is for you! I have to say I was intrigued from the moment I read the first page! Taming of the Few: An Irish Urban Fantasy Novel is book one in the Guardians of the PHAE series by Rowan Dillon. Rowan did a wonderful job of bringing Anna, a teacher who is trying figure out who she really is, Max a solider, who is trying to overcome his PTSD, and mixing the two different character’s worlds to life. She also did a fantastic job on explaining the difficulties that the people with magic powers face. This book reminded me of a cross between Lord of the Rings and the School of Good and Evil! All I have to say is once you start reading, make sure you have a comfy place to relax and all the snacks you could will need to stay put, because I’m telling you, once you pick this book up you won’t be putting it down till it’s finished, enjoy the ride!

On the surface this book is your typical bad boy romance, but really it is just so much more. Paige has the life she wanted until she found out her husband was cheating on her. I loved the raw emotion in this book! I enjoyed reading about Adrik and Annika both facing their demons, along with balancing their Mafia lives and their dreams. The plot was well done and the characters were great! I couldn’t get enough of them. I devoured every page.
If you like tv shows like CSI, SVU, and Criminal minds this book is for you! This is certainly a thriller mystery worth reading. I really appreciated the different layers of this book. The way this was written certainly had me fully hooked from page one until the end. I enjoyed the characters and they were well developed throughout the book. I surely recommend this book.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Beast is the fifth book in the Popov Bratva Series.
Adrik is called Beast because that’s what he is. He has been watching Annika from afar and now he’s in close contact with her. Can he keep her safe? Even if it has to be from himself? The quote I chose for Adrik is: “No. I don’t associate with him. I hate that b****rd. I haven’t seen him since I was seventeen. I don’t even know if he’s still alive. I hope to f*** he’s dead, cause if he’s not, the next time I see him, I’m killing him.”
Annika is being hunted and is being whisked away by one of her dad’s men. They call him the beast and she soon learns why that is. He is to keep her safe, but she doesn’t know how to help him with that. The quote I chose for Annika is: “Remember how I told you piano helped me with my trauma? Well, I truly think if you spend time with Harley, he can help you with yours. I’m not saying you’ll be cured after one session, but it can’t hurt to give it a try, right?”
Highly recommended for Mafia Romantic Suspense lovers.

This is the best kind of detective novel. The time where the pressure comes jumping of the page. The kind that is fast paced and filled with twists and turns. The kind that you don’t want to put down until it is done. The kind with a hero who has a backstory and who is slightly damaged and has a complicated life. Nick Larson is definitely the detective that you are rooting for from the very first page, who is likable and relatable. I loved that this also focused on his love life and I loved his demeanor. I definitely want to read more from him and also more by this author!

I haven’t picked up a detective novel in a while but I am so glad I came across this one! Very realistic descriptions, interesting characters and surprises at every turn! I found Hanging Softly in the Night to be a very captivating story and very refreshing to the previous detective stories I have read. This book brought to light how people can be very secretive about so many things in their life and yet show a very different persona to the world! I loved being on the edge of my seat and not wanting to stop reading just to know what the detectives find next. This was a very riveting book to read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good mystery to solve!

Hanging Softly in the Night by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra is the first book to the Detective Nick Larson series and the first book I have read by this author. Nick Larson and Victor Sacco are investing what a quick glance might deem as a suicide, but with some skilled detective work, it is obvious to the investigators that ‘suicide’ does not quite fit the crime scene. It looks too neat to the detectives. And then more and more cases start emerging. Nick cannot help but believe it is all interconnected somehow. During all of this, Nick is also trying to work through the haunting loss of his ex-wife. He wants to make space for his new interest, Laura, who is also going through some very difficult things herself.
I am surprised how much I really enjoyed this story! It seemed like it took a very long time for the plot to really take off. But once it did, I had a difficult time putting this down. The author does a fantastic job weaving together this mystery combined with very likable main characters. Highly recommend if you enjoy a good crime mystery mixed with romance.

Joker’s Fool (Satan’s Devils MC #8) Audiobook by Manda Mellett
Holy Cow there’s just something about listening to this story that shattered me more than reading it. This is the eighth book in the Satan’s Devils MC and to say this one is definitely on my favorite list. I loved this book and had a terrible time stopping it . The narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life using different tones made the emotions of all the main character went through seem so real. Im a huge fan of this author and her style of writing along with amazing characters that sometimes are very raw makes this series one of the best MC I’ve ever read. I don’t want to give to much away. But be prepared for one heck of a emotional rollercoaster ride with highs and lows. I highly recommend giving this a listen to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading/listening to many more books by this author.

It pulled me in from the first! The characters are complex so it takes some time to understand. I love that it switches back and forth as far as perspectives go. This is the first book in the series I have read but I don’t feel like I missed out on anything! The way the relationship between Adrik and Annika develops is slow but that so helps build the story in the best way.
I enjoyed this book. I think it would be a fun book for kids to learn about ladybugs and then afterwards go outside and find some. The facts about ladybugs in this book is very education even to me, as an adult. I didn’t know that ladybugs were alive in the winter and lived in an almost state of rest until the weather warmed. It is also nice to see the little girl, Loretta, so interested in her garden and being outside playing.
Annika Popov is his dream, his fantasy, and his salvation. A Bratva Princess he has sworn to protect, from everyone and everything. Adrik lived a dark and sad life growing up, starting with being attacked by a dog as a child, permanently disfiguring his face. His father was a twisted ad crooked man who worked for the mafia and was the beginning of his trauma. Adrik is known as the “Beast,” in part from his line of work and his disfigured face. He will do anything in his power to protect his Princess, no matter the cost.
This amazing story follows Adrik and Annika’s twisted story. I fell in love the first page, and I highly suggest you give it a read!!!

Spellbound Seduction (The Brightley Sisters #2) by Halley Larkin
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Spellbound Seduction is the second book in The Brightley Sisters Series. I had a hard time putting it down. I really didn’t want it to end.
Bella is in love with Thomas, but then he disappears. Not being heard from again. She tries to move on, but it’s a little difficult. She then finds that he’s not really dead. The quote I chose for Bella is: “I should think you know all of my secrets by now. Didn’t you hear the two of us the other night when you and Mrs. Darlington suddenly decided you needed to visit the library? I assumed you were listening in.”
Thomas left to take care of his father. He left Bella behind for her safety. He lets her believe he’s dead in order for her to stay safe. Things turn bad when he’s blamed for his father’s crimes. The quote I chose for Thomas is: “He wants to take her lands before he has any legal claim to them.”
Beast is the second book I’ve read by this author and I’m even more obsessed than I was before! Though the characters are linked to previous books, there is no critical information missing so each book can be read as a stand alone despite being a part of a series. I couldn’t help but fall in love all over again (having initially ‘met’ Adrik in book 4). My love for Beast only deepened as the plot progressed and seeing how the characters pasts shaped them and how they evolve as the current events unfold had me reading through the night. I was really rooting for Adrik to get his happy ending with everything I learnt about him and still hold him in my heart. Obviously, I wanted Annika to get her happily ever after too and I admire her strength given everything she was put through. The characters felt so believable to me I genuinely felt a loss when the book ended but I’m excited to throw myself into the author’s next book in March. Until then, I’ll be throwing myself into the first books of the series and their equally lovable characters. This is fast becoming one of my favourite series by a new favourite author. I cannot recommend this enough!
This book was an instant hit with both of my kids even though they are 3 years apart. The rhymes and the story fully engaged my daughter. She was listening as I read and quickly picked out her favourites. My son loves the pictures. He identified the pirates straight away and kept trying to turn the pages to look at more. For me this was a genuinely fun book to read. I didn’t mind reading this multiple times because the kids enjoyed it so much. I am pleased to see if it’s a series.

Thief is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I wish I had discovered her sooner! I feel the need to read everything she’s written and am sure I’m going to be spending the whole of my Christmas break doing just that! After finishing this book I couldn’t wait and started the next book immediately. I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope, and this did not disappoint, I was hooked from the beginning! The way the characters met was different to anything else I’ve read, and the pair’s development was never dull. The secrets that they each have drive this and the twists experienced as a result were created very well. I was a little concerned that I was going to have missed something important starting in the middle of the series, but despite starting at book 4, and previous characters seem to be present, there’s absolutely nothing missing as this can be read as a standalone. This was perfect for me being introduced mid-series. I enjoyed the fact that both characters appear to be one thing but as you get to know them both, you realise there is more to their stories and I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. If you love steamy romances, mafia elements and great characters, this is definitely the book for you!
Minotaur’s Lair is the third book in the Servant of the Gods series. It’s worth reading the series in order – you get enough of the backstory in this book to follow it but it would be more enjoyable to read as the culmination of the series.
As the title suggests, Minotaur’s Lair draws on Greek mythology to create a vivid fantasy world. There are plenty of familiar characters and tropes, but modern elements bring originality as well. The historical setting is detailed, with plenty of information about ancient lives including things like medicine, making it both an immersive and interesting read.
There are some great characters in this story! I particularly like Dexion, a boy whose insight and friendship help Evan in his quest. He’s a fun character with great energy, and I like a story where children notice things that adults miss.
This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of Greek Mythology and historical fantasy. Do start at the beginning, though, with Search for the Golden Serpent to get the full story.

I am here for any books that contain greek mythology. This is the final book (number 3 in the series). I didnt read the first two and didnt feel like i was unable to grasp what was going on! The way the writer tells the tale is honestly just mystical. It grabs your attention, and it had made me want to go back and read the other two. Its the way that the description is so perfectly balanced that you honestly feel as if you’re there that was the biggest winner for me. The story itself is great and well thought out. Author has an incredible mind and this book shows it!

This story was so great! It was the perfect escape from a seriously hectic time! The characters had chemistry that you really felt and the dynamic they had was addictive. Author writes a great story that keeps you on your toes and never bored! The forbidden fruit aspect of the tale really put the cherry on top!

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Son of Asmodeus is the first book in the Heaven and Hell Series. Son of Asmodeus was a fantastic read. I loved every minute of it.
John found out what he was over seven hundred years ago. Now he hunts demons so they can’t hurt others. He gets a call that freaks him out and goes to a bar before the meeting to have a drink. There he meets Mick the bartender. The quote I chose for John is: “This represents your friend. Tell Asteroth to leave me the f*** alone. A little boy and his grandpa are out for a walk when they see a frisbee stuck in the tree. The little boy goes to get something from home and tries to get the frisbee out of the tree. Then he notices that there is a cat. I couldn’t choose a quote for the book.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Knight In The Museum is the fifth book in the Jorja Knight Private Investigator Mystery Series. The writing of the book was phenomenal. I will be looking for more by the author.
Jorja is thrown for a loop when some guy tries hitching a ride with her. She knew he was up to something shady, but was freaked out when it happened. Then she runs into an old friend.
