I loved this book so much more than I thought I would! Going on the clown adventures with Abbey was nothing short of entertaining. I also grew up in Minnesota and currently live in northern Iowa so it was nice reading about places I was familiar with. I especially liked the Part that took place at the Griggs mansion! Overall a really great book and I definitely recommend if you like anything abnormal, like Abbey.
This story really drew me in from the beginning. Abbey is such a strong-willed and relatable character who I know would be a good friend to have. The descriptions of the clowns brought me back to 2016 with the hysteria of the scary clowns attacking people. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat even as I couldn’t stop reading because I just had to know what came next. I adore the dynamic between the soccer team, especially Abbey, Lexi, and Kelly. I love her determined spirit, and I absolutely adore her relationship with her family. Everything good about stories that draws you in is executed beautifully in this book!

I was not aware that this was the second book in the series, but i will be reading the first book to this series next. This book had my attention from the get-go. I could not put this book down until I had finished it. I’ve never been paranormal genre person, but this book is amazing. I recommend it for the people who love reading anything paranormal and spooky. I look forward to more books from this author.
Okay, so I didn’t know this was the second book of a series. But it was absolutely amazing and makes me want to go back and read the first one! This book caught my attention from the first page. That hardly ever happens! The character building of Abbey was amazing. I loved how she would do anything to protect her friends and family from going missing. She was just an overall great character and I loved her in this story.

Class Clown is a gripping YA horror story. Abbey has a history of paranormal experiences and starting a new high school hasn’t changed this. She’s doing her best to settle in and make friends, which would be much easier to do if inexplicable things didn’t keep happening to her and her new friends. If you’re into clown-related horror, this is the book for you! There are clowns everywhere. At the circus, of course, but also in the school corridors, the mirrors, people’s selfies, the middle of the road… SO many clowns. If you’re scared of clowns, this isn’t the book for you (unless you enjoy being scared in which case it’s perfect for you!). Abbey is a fun character, I like her inquisitive nature and obsession with 80s music! As well as being a ghost-magnet, she’s good at connecting with other people and builds a circle of friends, mainly from her soccer team, who join her in her attempts to save the school from the clown invasion. Abbey’s story begins in another book, Abnormally Abbey. Class Clown makes sense on its own, and you get plenty of background information as we go along, but if you intend to read Abnormally Abbey I would recommend starting there to avoid spoilers. This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to fans of high school paranormal stories, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

As a lover of all things paranormal and spooky, I was excited to read this book, even if I’m not the biggest fan of YA. This book was great! I love how Abbey is so independent and strong as a character, despite her young age. I’m sure I’m not the only person who has an aversion to clowns, but the story wove in the creepiness of the ‘spooks’ in a way that I was able to read through the book without having nightmares. As much as I love horror, clowns are a little too much for me, but this story had just enough of the shudder-factor in to make it YA-safe. The musical references and typical teen-drama had me captivated along with the paranormal aspect of the book and held my attention all the way through. If you like mystery, intrigue, and even a little taste of the paranormal, you’ll love this book!
Class Clown by Allan Evans is part of series, of which I didn’t realize therefore I didn’t read the first book. This book itself stood out on its own as a singular book; however, I feel like some of the characters back story may have been explained in the first book which would have helped understand the background a bit more. For that reason alone, it took me a bit longer to get into that most books and is the reason I chose 4 stars. That being said, this book was absolutely an exciting, interesting read. It’s as though it’s inspiring to be a horror novel, but not quite on the Stephen King level as it wants to appear more towards the young adults. Overall, this captured my attention and was a phenomenal read.

I now understand why there were a few people that I know that read this book that refused to read it at night. I was one of them, and furthermore, had to make sure that my partner was at home at night rather than at work before I read this fingernail bite inducing novel. The way that the author really digs deep into developing Abbey’s personality and thoughts is incredible, and you do feel as though you, the reader, are inside her head without a doubt. Despite the fear and terror that is pulled from these pages, there is also a lot of happiness in the connections, friendships and her relationship with her family, that bring the story all together. In some spots, it felt like I was reading an episode of ‘Supernatural,’ and it pulled me in even more.
Walking on Sunshine is one of my favourite songs of all time, not just from the 80’s, so I know this author has some great tastes to include the musical encouragement for the characters throughout the novel. I did, however, find that this novel felt to be a bit long-winded, though understandably so in order to really get the reader on the edge of her seat, it just was a bit much for me. I fully intend to read Abnormally Abbey as soon as I have the time and look forward to learning more about her and her backstory. Overall, a fantastic read, and I would recommend to anyone looking to have the hair on the back of their neck stand up, well done!

This book works well as a standalone if you haven’t read the previous books in the series, like me. There was enough context to understand the story line without it being distracting from the current plot.
This was a captivating story, making it difficult to put down. Not only did I want to know who or what was behind the clown parade that seemed to overtake Pine Ridge High School, I was intrigued to figure out how it all would come to an end.
Abbey is a spook magnet who discovers the ghosts of dozens of clowns have infiltrated her life after a visit to the traveling circus. When two of her classmates disappear with clues the clowns are involved, she sets out to make sense of her puzzling and sometimes terrifying interactions with the clowns. Along the way of solving the mysteries, Abbey forms new friendships, helps a couple of other ghosts (unrelated to the main plot) find closure, and tries to live as normal a teenage life as anyone can who sees and interacts with ghosts on a regular basis.
This was definitely a psychological thriller. This gave me serious ghost whisperer vibes. Dead clowns are at the new high school, and friends have gone missing. The main character has unique abilities that could help, but they also could be the reason for the clown apocalypse. Cause highschool isn’t hard enough. I recommend this to all my horror fans. As a person petrified of clowns, this will not get you over yikes fear. It’s a bit disturbing but interesting and it keeps you engaged. Do I recommend? Yes it is good overall once I got half way through, so entertaining.
Abbey is in high school and is about to start a new year and with that all the challenges that brings, but what she didn’t expect is that she would be dragged to the circus and that it would start off a whole chain of events which are going to make high school even harder.
It all starts with a visit to the circus with her parents a couple of days before the start of the school year, which she enjoys as much as a teenager can, but when she turns a corner at school one day and come face to face with a clown, she is more than just confused, she is annoyed. Abbey isn’t like any other teenager, she is a ghost magnet and this clown ghost is no exception, she has always seen them and always tries to help, even if the consequences aren’t worth it, losing friends and alienation being the two easiest to deal with.
As the days progress and Abbey is just trying to deal with life in general, the dead clowns just keep popping up to distract her, clowns of all shapes, sizes and some which are just downright scary, but when two of her new friends go missing, Abbey has to use her skills to find out just who or what is behind it all, but will she be able to find them before it is too late and this clown apocalypse turns deadly? This is a paranormal adventure full of spirit, mysteries and lots of clowns which keeps you guessing throughout as you try and figure out the who, what, where and why before the end.

I started reading this without realizing that it was actually the 2nd book in a series. When they referred to a past incident but never fully explained it, I got the hint. However, this book was extremely new reader friendly. It felt like I was reading an episode of “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and that’s a good thing. The story was fun while still being intense at parts. The characters were not fully fleshed out, but they did have their own personal identities. I look forward to many sequels in the future pulling the supporting characters out of their shells more. It was a shockingly quick read, and I had wished that there was more. So, I’m lucky that there’s the first one to go back and read. I’ll just pretend that it’s a prequel to this one. Haha!
I was drawn to this book based on its cover. I was very entertained while reading this. I love the haunting aspect of it. It made me really want to finish it once I started it. I will definitely be reading the first book in this series. I highly recommend this book.

When I picked this book up I didn’t know that it was in a series, called the ghost girl series, and was in fact book number two. The writing in class clown was super smooth and flowing. I didn’t for once feel like I was lost or missing something so I don’t feel it was detrimental to have read them out of order. Maybe the confidence she seems to struggle with as a young adult would have been explained more in book one ?! To me she seemed fearless and brave throughout, never afraid to stand up to any obstacles. Class clown is a young adult horror type novel where a clown has attached himself to her from a circus she attended, she did say she was a spook magnet, right, and he begins haunting her high school along with a host of other clowns. It was engaging and really had me burning the midnight oil to finish. I’m definitely interested in picking up book number one, or really anything from this author. If these types of books are your thing I recommend giving this one a try.

I’m not sure what caused me to pick this book because not only is the cover art creepy, I knew the story included clowns, and not just happy clowns but scary clowns. I’m definitely a person who can clearly say scary, creepy clowns are not my forte but the reviews associated with this book are incredible and I cannot pass up an incredible story.
Abbey is the main character, a teenager, student who has enrolled in a new school, but before the first day arrives, her father, a journalist, asks the family to join him by visiting the visiting circus as he gathers intel for his next big story on the history of clowns. As a typical teenager, Abbey wanted to pass on joining any family function if it included visiting the circus of all places, but she ultimately chose to go along. While there, she watches the entertainment, then roams around behind the scenes. When she comes across a crowd of clowns chatting about someone, out walks Rellik, the creepiest, scariest clown she had ever seen. When he looked into her eyes, as he walked by, fear riddled her body and she could feel goosebumps on her arms. Little did she know, her future would hold a lot more clowns and danger.
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get through this book and believe me there were times, I thought the creepy factor was going to get to me, but the book is so good and so well written. I loved the way Abbey constantly thought of specific 80’s songs throughout the story which made the book have a bit of a soundtrack, which was unexpected. She often felt older than your typical teenager, seeing as how she handled her special “gift” and the drama that came with it.
The author did a great job making the villain someone you could feel disdain for and hope he would have a strike of bad luck.
I loved how Abbey started to learn about teamwork and the love that you can enjoy by joining a team, a sisterhood of her fellow soccer players. They go through a lot while dealing with clowns invading the school and the disappearance of a few friends but in the end, I think the entire situation brings them all closer together.
I enjoyed this story, even with the creepy clowns and look forward to reading more from the author. This was very well written, easy to read and follow along and kept me intrigued and on edge from the very beginning.

I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. As I read the synopsis of the story I thought although it was not my normal cup of tea but what the heck I will give it a shot and I am happy I did. Abbey’s story is unique and I found it interesting. The story had adventure and surprises, I could not put it down until I finished. If you enjoy ghost stories with a twist then I highly recommend this series to you. I look forward to reading more from him.
Class Clown by Allan Evans is the second installment in this set (The first is Abnormally Abbey). I have not read the first book, but had no issue getting into this one and did not feel like I was missing information, so it can be read as a standalone. After reading this one, I will be going back and reading Abnormally Abbey (and others by this author) as it was exceptionally interesting to me, and different than your “typical” ghost story. Abbey is your average 14yr old high school girl….or is she? She can see and communicate with spirits, but this is not always as fun as it may sound. This time, she has piqued the interest of a clown at the traveling circus that has come to town…and he seems pretty intent on following and harassing her. But that is only where it starts, now her new-found soccer teammates are starting to come up missing…Is it all connected? If THAT doesn’t catch your attention, there are TONS of 80s music references in here to keep all of us “old people” in a nostalgic head spin. I love Abbey, she’s got all the sass. I didn’t know there was another book about her. I’ll have to go back and read it too. Abbey sees and talks to creepy clown ghosts all day at school. But, when students start going missing, she knows it’s up to her to find out why.
This YA paranormal read pulls you right in! First I loved all the 80’s music references! Now this isn’t your typical paranormal read. There is actually nothing typical about this book. Clowns have always been creepy to me so to read about them I definitely wanted the lights on! I love Abbey’s thought process about everything that’s happening at Pine Ridge. Also really enjoyed the side story with Peter! I look forward to reading more from this author especially when I found out there’s a first book about Abbey!

OMG I freaking love this book! It was definitely different than I was expecting even with the cover. I started reading it and it kept me reading more and more. I’m not a very big fan of clowns at all and when the ghost clowns happened I almost stopped but couldn’t. I had to finish the book. I’m so glad I did because it was so good. Abbey is such a wonderful character and heroine of the book. I truly hope that the author makes a second book.

I read Class Clown because of the clown apocalypse. I have always enjoyed a dystopian fantasy read and adding something like clowns was super intriguing. The term apocalypse was a bit overstated for this book, as the clowns Abbey keeps seeing are ghost. Abbey has a unique ability to see and is a self titled spook magnet. Abbey begins at a new school and on a whim joins the girls soccer team. She makes fast friends but she also started the year off by going to a circus with her family, where the clowns have connected to her and now are following her. Abbey if faced with weird occurrences and her friends start going missing. Abbey now has the mission to face these clowns and find her friends before it is too late. This was a quick read and actually fun to get into. I would recommend for a fun, paranormal read. Just don’t take it as a literal apocalypse about to occur.
This book is not my usual genre to read. I find stories like this too much for me sometimes, but I thought I’d give it a go. I’m glad that I tried it because it was a fantastic story following a 14-year-old Abbey and her paranormal abilities.
I did not realise that this story was one in a series, so I am glad to know that I can go back and read what happened before this part of her life. Before I found this out, I did feel like there was a few gaps at the beginning – but it can still be read as a first if you want to!
I enjoyed her ‘side story’ through sports too. A weird thing to point out? Maybe, but not enough stories for the younger reading age has girls doing sports! The realistic high school drama was the thing that grounded the story for me.
Like many others, I enjoyed reading about the different characters, but feel that there is definitely more to explore!

I haven’t read a YA book in a while and this book was the perfect palette cleanser after all the sad books I’ve read lately. Abby Hill with her spooky talent gave me a thrilling read with an amazing never been written (that I know of) storyline. The author did a superb job with the balance between spooky and YA. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author bit definitely not the last. (Just clicked following)
This was a good one!! It threw me for a moment because honestly possessions and clowns are not my thing, but it was still a fun read. For the younger crowd its a very “Are you Afraid of the Dark” feel. Abbey was a great girl and she was brave given the nature of the ghosts and spirits that surrounded her. The 80s theme music gave it different type feel a well. I am definitely going to read the first book after having read this one!

Abbey is a ghost magnet. Many of them are calm or confused but some are downright evil. While at the circus with her family, she starts seeing ghost clowns and some even follow her to school. Some of her friends begin to go missing and Abbey can’t help but think the ghost clowns are to blame. Will she get to the bottom of the disappearances and help get her friends home to safety? The author does a brilliant job mixing paranormal and reality in this young adult thriller. Abbey is a very likable character and super independent and fun. I don’t usually read YA books but I couldn’t put this one down! This book is definitely for anyone and everyone!
Abbey has been able to see ghosts for as long as she can remember. They have moved to a new city and with her dad being an investigative reporter they have ended up at the circus the night before her first day at her new high school. She decides to steer off the path and ends up back in the carnies area, where she sees a confrontation between the clowns. One in particular stands out to her due to his evil look. Abbey begins to see ghost clowns all the time but has no clue what they are trying to tell her, until 2 of her new soccer teammates end up missing. Will Abbey figure out what is going on before it is to late? Absolutely loved this book and hoping to maybe see more from Abbey in the future.

Creepy ghost clowns!!!! When two of her friends go missing she realizes she is the only one with the abilities to possibly save them. Will Abbey be able to stop the Clown Apocalypse and save her new friends?! This book gave me chills!!!! Wonderfully vivid, whimsical, and creepy. I loved it!!! I really enjoyed Abbey’s story and the relationships with her friends and teammates that grew along the way. I also enjoyed her relationship with her father. Class Clown by Allan Evans kept me turning pages just to find out what happens next! It’s really nice when a book surprises me and this one had so many parts that were really unexpected! Reading this book I had no idea what to expect. Not being a fan of clowns at all, it really scared me! This is what I would refer to as a “sun up” book, only read in the daylight hours. I did enjoy the fact that it was a fast paced read and I loved the heroine, Abbey.
A young girl in a new school, Abbey must work to fit in but add to that the element of fighting off dead clowns. When students at her new school begin to disappear, Abbey makes the connection between the two. Abbey must face her fears in order to help others.
Despite my dislike for clowns and all that they entail, the writing in the book was fabulous. Get it, you won’t be disappointed.
A trip to the circus with her family brings Abbey a lot more than she bargained for. When all hell breaks loose, and dead clowns overrun her high school, she must scramble to put a stop to it before it’s too late. I liked the pace of the story and the plot brought some interesting twists and turns. I liked that Abbey had a bit of a gift in regards to the supernatural and an quiet intuition that those around her lacked. I had trouble really resonating with her though, and feeling fully pulled-in by the story. It seemed like it was happening at a remove. At any rate, a decent read.
