This was a roller-coaster of a ride. It’s a short and fast read told from the two main characters POV. Even though it was a short read, I found myself struggling through parts of it. Nothing in particular, I would just kind of lose interest. I’m glad I finished the book because it ended well. There were just parts that I felt could have used a little more explanation. I think if the book was just a little longer, it would have given it that little bit of edge to make it an excellent read. Overall, a solid 3.6 read.

Two youths, a Hunter and a Demon Angel who are miles apart despite being in the same class at school were beginning to develop a tenuous friendship when one of them inherits a ring, but this is no ordinary ring, this is one which gives commands, it is as old as time and has its own agenda, keep the chaos and destroy any chance to avert society from crumbling and when the Hunter wears it, he has to ignore the voice within it.
All his life the Demon Angel has known that the bearer of the ring must kill him and his family have insisted on telling him this from the day he could understand them and it has destroyed his confidence, meanwhile, the other family have kept the Hunter in the dark, only telling him what he needs to know at that moment and to work out the rest for himself.
One evening when they have both been invited to a party at one of their fellow students houses when a game of spin the bottle begins and one’s dare is to kiss the other, but it is not the expected peck, it is passionate, this confuses them both, but not for the same reasons.
As time passes, the Demon Angel becomes more and more frustrated with the Hunter for denying him his purpose until he decides to take a chance with destiny, but what happens when they start driving into the night and uncovering secrets long buried? This is a novella with heart, hope and despair throughout which will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions as you fly through the pages wondering what will happen next.

Just from reading the title and the dark cover I figured this would be some sort of thriller mystery. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t. Kenai is a hunter and Mikal is a demon. Their families have been fighting one another for a long time and they are both expected to play their parts and keep the feud going. Things get a little messy when they find themselves attracted to one another. Instead of fulfilling the desired outcome of one or the other dying, they opt to try and change the outcome. Will they be able to find happiness together or are their fates already written in the stars?

I hadn’t read anything by this author before, but the cover drew me in as soon as I saw it. It’s a relatively short read, but don’t let that fool you because this is magnificent! A uniquely original M/M paranormal romance that demands to be read in one sitting. We witness a timeless struggle between a hunter and a demon angel whose hatred is palpable, yet beneath it lies a deep, unresolved connection that both complicates and enriches the situation. The author excels in exploring this tension, expertly crafting a story where the boundaries between love and hatred blur. The flow of the story feels flawlessly natural and made it incredibly easy for me to lose myself in the reading groove. If you enjoy a blend of supernatural intrigue and emotional drama, don’t pass this one up. I’m eager to see more from this author and hopefully another book with these characters!

This is a short read and has a great story line with dual POV. I didn’t know what to expect with this story but I enjoyed the story and characters. Kenai is a demon hunter who must kill a demon, Mikael, to fulfill a mission that’s been going on with their families for generations. You go through the motions with both characters trying to accept what they must do and the sacrifice they must make for their families. It’s a enemies-to-lovers supernatural romance. I couldn’t stop reading and found myself rooting for them and hoping that they could find a solution to the mission so they can be together. I would like to read more about Kenai and Mikael and their past and future life together.

Driving Into The Night by Amanda Kay is a unique MM romance. This was definitely an emotional ride, that kept me on the edge of my seat worried about both Kenai and Mikael at every turn. The concept of this book was very interesting, and created a wonderfully written back and forth dynamic. I loved these characters and was just as protective of them as Elise! I recommend this for anyone looking for something to pull on your heart strings!

A unique dark story, which is well written with interesting characters. Surprisingly leaves you wanting more. This is a unique m/m story. The “ring” in this story and all it represents keeps you captivated. A very special story about a couple in love overcoming all challenges, secrets and of course drama. Yes, there is drama and yes there is danger! I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in this adventure with two characters.

This was a unique read. This is a MM paranormal romance which is full of angst, drama, high stakes and a opposite attract story. I will admit at some points in the story I did feel a little lost but it wasn’t enough to make it any less enjoyable. At the beginning we hear about this ring that is supposed to make the hunter search out and destroy the angel-dem on. But what I felt was lacking for me personally is more into the history of the ring and how it was passed down. It seems to move from the creation to present day with Kenai and Mikael. Kenai is the hunter and Mikael the angel-demon. Mikael has always known that his life will end at the hands of a hunter and he has accepted that as his fate, however he wasn’t prepared for that hunter to be Kenai. Kenai doesn’t really know much about the ring or what is is supposed to do and when Mikael finds him and tells him Kenai doesn’t believe him. He doesn’t want to destroy Mikael, he has feelings for him. Mikael knows his time is running out so he asks for Kenai to give him 6 months so that he can know happiness before his end. But Kenai think he is strong enough to ignore the rings instruction and demands. Can the love they are feeling for each other because strong enough to overcome the rings hold on Kenai? And what would be the consequences of the hunter didn’t destroy the angel-demon? Would it mean the end of the world as we know it?

Looking at the cover I thought this was going to be more horror than what it was. It is very quick and easy read just under 200 pages. We have Kenai and Mikael who have fought this attraction for each other. It is a fantasy romance of two teens who fight the attraction because their families have a distaste for each other. You can see where this could go into another book.

“Driving Into the Night” follows the tales of Mikael and Kenai as they struggle with the bindings of their intertwined fates. It follows their journey to adulthood and self discovery, in a world full of demons and the hunters that are fates to end their lives. If you enjoy supernatural fantasy, magical jewelry, star crossed lovers, and stories of coming of age, this is an excellent choice. I also really enjoyed the gay representation, which is relevant, but not the main focus.
The story builds, giving the reader many twists and turns to build suspense, as each page adds to the story. This was a fun book to read, and I could easily see myself reading more from this author. I definitely recommend it!

This is an M/M romance, which isn’t overtly mentioned in the current blurb. It worked out great for me since M/M is my favorite romance sub-genre!
I loved the premise of this story. There were a few places where it felt a little repetitive and meandered a bit, which slowed things down a little, but it didn’t keep me from turning the pages. I also feel like the backstory of the ring could have been fleshed out a bit more. Still, it was an enjoyable read.

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay is a short read. This book is a great fantasy and is an original tale about 2 guys. One is a hunter and the other is a demon angel that needs to be killed. I love how the romance doesn’t overlap the story but also ties into it. I love how Amanda Kay wrote the characters and how likable they are. Off the bat, you can tell who the villain is. I also love how the story completes itself in 1 book. This book is for people who love fast-paced fantasy books with romance. @Stephen Rymer 09/2024

What a great M/M fantasy romance that was completely original. I love the angle that Amanda Kay took in developing this awesome storyline around good versus evil and having the ring be the protagonist in the story. The ring represents the world’s evil and tries to influence the hunter to kill the demon angel despite the attraction they feel for one another. This made for a great fantasy romance as we see our two main characters fight against all that they have been taught as their responsibility and follow along as they choose where their destinies will take them. This book was not a long read, but every page will have you on edge rooting for a happily ever after that may or may not be possible. You won’t want to miss this fast-paced adventure as the two main characters work against time to seek out the answers they need…will the past be able to help them save their future? Find out by reading Driving into the Night by the amazing author Amanda Kay who has a skill like no other! Until next time my friends, I’m off to find another great read! @Brandy Rymer 09/2024

Wow, this was such a rollercoaster, and I loved every minute. I absolutely love Kenai and Mikael together. The story with the ring and Kenai’s family seeming to have been doing this for generations, confused me every now and then. I would have liked to have more backstory to how it all began, but Kenai and Mikael meeting Nicholas and Viktor helped a little. Watching these two battle with giving over to what the ring demands, and their love for each other was heartbreaking. I don’t know how Mikael’s cousin Elise and Kenai’s mother know what to do, maybe they see themselves in the past as well so they are able to give guidance to the boys. I would really love to read more of Mikael and Kenai, their love is sweet and beautiful, I really enjoyed this story.

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay. This is a supernatural mystery with a touch of m/m romance. Its the story of Kenai and Mikael who are in the same school. They are both attracted to one another but neither can get the courage up to tell the other one. While they are at a party and they play a kind of spin the bottle type game they are thrust together and from then on our they are together whether they like it or not. Finding themselves on opposite ends of a century old feud they are thrown into the fire literally to save the life they’ve known and want. Fighting to keep their feelings from getting in the way of their mission is another battle on its own. Mikael has struggled with self acceptance and being told he’s not worthy anything and Kenai is trying to get him to see his worth. Will they end up saving each other or will they both be lost forever. Read this fast paced mystery to find out!

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay was an interesting book, this was my first read by this author, so I didn’t really know what to expect. This is not what I thought it was going to be, I was thinking like a dark mystery, but instead it was a supernatural mystery with some romance mixed in. We meet the two main characters, Kenai and Mikael and both are teenagers who attend the same school and apparently have noticed each other for quite some time. Neither one expected to be attracted to one another, but they are and neither one of them ever seems to build up the courage to actually speak to each other. So as fate usually does, it brings both of our main characters to the same high school party with the usually games of truth or dare and spin the bottle, and of course fate would have it that on the first spin of the bottle Mikael is to kiss Kenai. Little did either of the boys know that from this moment on their lives would be changed and somehow would seem to intertwine further than being at this party together. These boys have no idea that their romance is going to be extremely challenged due to the fact that their families have a long history between them. There is a ring that is given to one of the boys and it will greatly affect anything that has to do with the other boy. I felt that this story was good but could have been better with maybe some more details of the back story of the ring and the families of our main characters. We are given the storyline of a demon angel versus a hunter, but this is where I found the storyline to lack some. I feel that with more detail and maybe a longer story this book could have been great, it could have even been transformed into a series. I look forward to seeing what else Amanda Kay will bring us and I hope that she considers putting more detail into this storyline and turning it into a series.

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. I love a good paranormal romance but this story exceeded my expectations. You will fall in love with these two characters right from the start. There is a male to male romance that goes on as well but it is beautifully written. I can’t wait to see if we get to read more about these characters in another book.
Kenai and Mikael go to the same school as each other. They find out that they are going to be on the opposite sides of this horrible conflict that could destroy the world. They both have a duty to their families but they start to have feelings for one another. Will love be enough or will it destroy the whole world?

So there is this ring and seems to control who lives and who doesn’t. Sadly, Kenia and Mikael are the two who life hangs in the balance. Kenia is the hunter while Mikael is the demon angel at least according to their families. The thing is that Mikael doesn’t seem to care about himself anymore and just wants Kenia to do what the ring wants him to do, despite having feelings for Kenia. There is no denying that there is some else going on between the two. Can their feelings for each other outweigh the strength of the ring or will the ring win? You will need to read it to find out the answer.

Mikael and Kenai come from opposite sides. One is the demon angel and the other is the hunter. The two feel the pull to each other and one simple teenage game will change everything for them. As the boys grow and learn what needs to be done will love find a way or will the ring get its way once again? This is an intriguing story. Readers are introduced to a new and interesting paranormal world. I found the idea of the ring and how it affects the person it is tied to an engaging storyline. It was nice to see the way Kenai and Mikael form a relationship and how far they will fight for it. The two work hard to prove that love is stronger than hate. Their story is well paced and has a good mix of romance and action.

This is not a normal genre for me to read (M/M romance). There’s implied romantic tension between Kenai and Mikael, and I would have liked to see this more before the drop of romantic curiosity. The readers curiosities peaked to find out why they’re such a strong pull between the two main characters and the balance of the world. Can they escape the fate that weighs heavily on each other? Opposites attract follow this paranormal romance as does the power of love. While the backstory of the demon angel-vs- hunter is not thoroughly bright into the plot, or explained in this book it was still a good read. I still want to know how this generational fated curse came to be.

Really intriguing story. I loved how the story was told from the perspectives of both characters of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. It was a lot more the thoughts and feelings they had within their own minds, and it was a unique look into what they were thinking and then what they do after those thoughts and feelings emerged. It was so exciting to me that I was able to read it within 2 days because I just wanted to know what was going to happen next! The story is about a demon angel and a hunter with a ring telling him what it wanted. It follows the journey of both characters and the ring and their intertwined fates. So intriguing and had me guessing what would happen the entire book and I very much enjoyed reading this.

Driving into the Night by Amanda Kay is a MM Romance that is fast paced and will have you turning the pages till the end. I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in . I had a hard time getting into the story until several chapters in. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and I thinks it’s a me thing and not the story. I’m definitely going to put this on my re-read list and see what happens. This is a fairly new author to me and their style of writing is a bit different than I’m used to but once the storyline picked up I was hooked and read till the end. This is a story about a demon angle, a hunter and what happens when you leave love up to fate. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.

The ring had been crafted under the cursed blood red moon. The demons would give the ring to the hunters, waiting for the demon angel to be born and the hunters would then follow its commands.
Driving Into the Night by Amanda Kay is an urban fantasy with paranormal elements and characters, drama, angst, action, adventure, mystery, and high stakes. This is my first read by Amanda Kay, so I went into this book totally blind, as I had no idea what the book was about, or what to expect from one of Ms. Kay’s stories. I thought I was getting my hands on a dark and gritty thriller- and was excited to see what would come. What I discovered is actually not dark, or gritty, and is a MM romance. Which is fine, because I read all different genres- but when I eventually checked the blurb, the fact that this is an MM romance isn’t even alluded to – so someone who loves fantasy/paranormal romance, but doesn’t enjoy MM romance might need to know this fact before they dive in, and in my opinion, there really should have been some mention of this on the blurb. Kenai and Mikael are caught on opposite sides of a long-fought conflict- hunter and angel-demon- and a cursed ring out for blood. But what happens when feelings get in the way of the ‘mission’? Follow along on this story of opposites attract- and the power of love. I was really intrigued by the whole ring and pact scenario and would have loved to have discovered more about that, but the story doesn’t go into that aspect of the synopsis much, or even at all…. which was disappointing. Plus, I found the story a little confusing at times, and where the story seemed to lack ‘focus’ on the main thread/s- while there was a lot of frustration with repetitive information, especially in the form of thoughts/internal dialogue. I just didn’t find my groove here at all, which made for a frustrating read because it should have been right up my alley. Happy Reading…

3 – 3.5 stars Driving into the Night is a well written, m/m tale. This paranormal romantic vampire story is more than your average vampire tale; it’s hauntingly emotional, and Amanda’s passion shines through every word. Just when you think you know where the story is going, expect the unexpected and the unpredictable. It has everything you’d want in a good enemies-to-lovers story: tension, passion, forbidden love, deception, suspense, and mystery. There’s heartache, revenge, war, chaos, death, hell, and fate that is inescapable. Love is a wonder, a hope. “Driving into the Night” is an awesome dark tale that I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed this world that Amanda has created. The complex characters are well written. This is one author whose other work I will be reading for sure.

Kenai and Mikael have always been intrigued by each other throughout high school but neither of them made any advances. Things changed when Kenai was given a ring that was a family heirloom. The ring was cryptic and spoke to him. It seemed to speak more in the presence of Mikael. One night at the party, they were dared to kiss each other. Kenai thought maybe Mikael liked him back. The next day he found a note where Mikael expressed his hatred. After high school they went their separate ways never to see each other again.. Or so Kenai thought.
Mikael has been told his whole life that he is worthless and his whole purpose in life is to die at the hand of the hunter who bares the ring. Of course the hunter had to be the guy he was crushing on. He knew they could never be so he pushed him away. Time was running out, he had to die to save his family so he sought Kenai out to finish the job. Kenai doesn’t want to kill Mikael so they agree on 6 months. If they can’t find a way out of this, they must do what has to be done.
Will love prevail or will the ring get the kill?
This book wasn’t what I expected. I was expecting something darker but it wasn’t dark at all. It was a romance between 2 young men who should be enemies but can’t find it in their hearts to hate each other. I found myself a bit annoyed at the internal dialogue, especially Mikaels. It was too repetitive. I also couldn’t understand how Kenai was so oblivious to everything when it was all basically spelled out to him. The premise of the past was intriguing to me. The history of the pact and the ring would make a great story. I wish it went into more detail about it.

Driving into the Night is an intriguing MM Romance and overall a good story. I was pulled into getting to know two characters, Kenai and Mikael and knowing there is something different about them. Fate, love, secrets and drama bringing two people for different purposes…..and finding out how much Kenai and Mikael and how fate can change the course of history…but knowing this….will true love overcome the dark cloud lingering on a fateful decision….
This was a good story, I would love to have more of the origin of the fate coming full circle to Kenai and Mikael….I am looking forward to more and I am hoping that there possibly be a continuation of Kenai and Mikael’s story.

I enjoyed reading this young adult fantasy story. This is a shorter story but it is a full on journey with a demon angel and a hunter. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed their ability to pull me into the story from the start. This is a well written story about what happens when love is left in the hands of fate. I enjoyed how creative and engaging the characters were. They kept me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. They add so much to the story which makes it easy to read and entertaining. I also enjoyed watching the growth throughout the story which just added to the character’s journey. This is a fast paced story that you don’t want to miss. I really enjoyed seeing what happens with these characters. I highly recommend this book.

The way this book is written is with more internal dialogue and description than the characters actually talking to each other. It’s pretty short and is more a fantasy romance story than anything. The characters are tied together by a deal made years before and an evil ring determined to see it sealed. The ring demands blood but love can be a more powerful force than hate.

This book is not at all what I expected it to be when I first started reading. I was expecting something dark and sinister, I wasn’t expecting any romance at all. So I was pleasantly surprised with the story that I actually got. This is a great book about watching two young men have to try and overcome so much in order to find their happiness. Everything is stacked against them in this book and I found myself on edge about what would happen and which way the author would take this. I was really drawn into this story, and the characters, as soon as I started reading. This is a great book and definitely paves the way to future stories. I hope we see more of these characters.
