The Ghostly Diva is the third instalment in the Divine Vintage series by Sandra L. Young. It is a wonderful mash-up of paranormal, romance, cozy mystery, secrets, grumpy-sunshine element, forced proximity, a meddling ghost, family dynamics, unresolved issues, emotion, choices, discovery, investigation, fun, fashion, and plenty intrigue. I have to say that this series just seems to get better and better with each new instalment, and this has become my favourite of the series (so far). I loved how this story was woven, as all the elements came together in a wonderfully engrossing read. Justine and Jackson’s dynamic, and the whole family tensions/unresolved issues, coupled with his meddling mother (the ghost), the forced proximity, as well as having her beloved job on the line, had me well and truly invested in the outcome. The School of Nine is the first book in The Mythic Academy Collection series by Amanda Marin. This is a captivating YA fantasy with a magical academy/finishing school setting, Muses, sinister foes, drama, danger, high stakes, agendas, prophecy, legends/myths, good vs evil, family, duty/responsibility, friendship, journey of discovery, self-discovery, action, adventure, secrets, and a touch of sweet (clean) romance. This isn’t the first book that I have read by Ms. Marin, and having loved her previous books, I was excited to start on a new series from her. I loved the premise, the whole ‘Mystic Academy’ aspect had me hooked before I’d even read a word. But then the first few pages certainly ‘sealed the deal’ for me. Bianca Harper is a Muse who can trace her heritage back to one of the original nine Muses, and with that legacy comes the heavy weight of responsibility. She feels the weight of expectations on her shoulders – and she really isn’t sure she has what it takes to live up to those high expectations. She and her fellow classmates at Brightling Academy are learning everything a good Muse must know in order to ‘inspire’ all the artistic, musical, and creative ideas, which in turn then spreads goodwill and hope throughout all of humanity. But strange things have started happening, with an ancient prophecy coming to pass, and someone seems all too eager to speed those things along… And on top of that, Bianca and her friends discover that the well of creativity is running dry. Now they must find a way to help replenish the well, to stop the prophecy from completing, before it’s all too late. The very fate of humanity is riding on outcome. Add in a new male student- the first ‘male’ muse in decades, tension, suspense, dramatic developments, and a touch of romance- and the story takes a captivating turn. A Song of Salt and Secrets is the second book in The Mythic Academy Collection series by Amanda Marin. This is another enchanting YA fantasy with a magical academy setting, Sirens, curses, magic, drama, danger, high stakes, agendas, myths, a touch of sweet (clean) romance, friendship, a journey of discovery, action, adventure, secrets, an ancient goddess with a grudge, fun, fairytale vibes (Little Mermaid-type story), a touch of fate, and emotion. I loved the first book in the series, and the whole ‘Mystic Academy’ aspect – so there was never any question that I would be diving into this book as soon as it hit my Kindle. Even though this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone if you wanted, as each instalment focuses on its own particular character/s- the common theme being the ‘Mystical Academy’- although different academies. Magwitch Academy is where Sirens have been going for generations to learn to control their ‘deadly’ curse. But what happens if a siren unintentionally causes a nautical accident- her ‘victim’ driving his boat onto the rocks where she had been singing her song? What happens if the ‘sailor’ just happens to be young, handsome, and lives not too far away from the academy? Well, Corisande finds herself in just such a predicament- she feels an immediate connection with her ‘victim’, as if their fates are intertwining… And while fate seems to have a plan for them, exactly what that plan is, Corisande isn’t so sure… though she’s beginning to suspect a very tragic ending. Being drawn to Noah adds an extra complexity to an already overly complicated situation. Throw in some mystery, grief, a meddling mother, a powerful curse, sinister intentions, rage, grief, history, and a very vengeful goddess- and this story became unputdownable! Come Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson is intriguing romantic suspense- full of mystery, tension, dramatic developments, twists, secrets, danger, and emotion- with a tightly woven plot that and a cast of interesting characters. This might be the first book that I have read by Ms. Levinson, but it certainly won’t be the last. Erica Parker is about to have her world turned upside down with the disappearance of her husband , while thugs turn up on her doorstep- leaving Erica no option but to flee. She finds herself back in her old ‘stomping-ground’ where things take an even more intriguing turn, especially with a target on her back. The story twisted and turned and kept me turning the pages to discover how everything would play out in the end. Looking forward to exploring more of Ms. Levinson’s work. Happy Reading…

Healing Hearts is book #0.5 in The Echo series by C.R. Alam. This is a contemporary romance all about the healing power of love. It is a very enjoyable, novella length story- which makes for a quick and easy read. It is Gene Rowland and Amanda Garner’s story- Gene is Dean Rowland’s older brother (whom we meet when he had his own story, back in Book #1). This has some mystery, drama, angst, chemistry, spice, tension, banter, intrigue, emotion, a hunky doctor, and a ‘damsel in distress’ element- all woven into a wonderful, ‘finding love unexpectedly’ romance. As each book in the series focuses on its own ‘couple’ they can be read as standalones if you wanted. But you might just find that one isn’t enough and go hunting for more. Happy Reading…

These stories are all contemporary romances, each instalment focusing on its own particular couple- so they each could be read as standalones if you wanted to. But having all four in one handy collection, also means that you can read the entire series, and enjoy all four books for the price of one. -Fool’s Gold: Roped (Book #1) is Sarah and Rafe’s second chance romance with an opposites attract, some drama, angst, an ‘arrangement’, forced proximity, and a small-town setting. -Her Heart’s Desire: Rescued (Book #2) is Samantha and Jake’s enemies to lovers romance with drama, the boss’s daughter element, stakeout-gone-wrong, humour, tension, chemistry, and finding love unexpectedly. -Serena’s Web: Risked (Book #3) is Serena and Mark’s single mother romance with FBI agent/protector, forced proximity, tension, kidnapping, the mob, dramatic developments, and angst. -It Had to Be You: Romanced (Book #4) is Candy and Greg’s enemies to lovers romance with plenty of sparks, different sides of the track, the one that got away, sparks, chemistry, small town, and just enough drama to keep things interesting. Master Oradea is the tenth book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. It is another dark paranormal romance with enemies to lovers, a rogue vampire faction, shifters, witches, magic, pure bloods, politics, agendas, fated mates, drama, danger, tension, intrigue, chemistry, sizzle, action, and more. Again, as with the rest of the series, this is told from a duel POV- which helps deliver a fuller perspective. This is Master Oradea and Natalia Benzini’s story- a dark, tense, romantic suspense-that not only tells their story, but also helps build the background story which has been developing throughout the entire series. It is because of this ‘overarching, background’ story that I highly recommend reading the entire series, in sequence, so you have all the important details, character, and other relevant information on board- otherwise there might be some undue confusion. There is a lot going on, and a large ‘cast’ of characters, so even though each book focuses on one individual ‘couple’- there is a recurring cast which pops up in instalments throughout the series- so ‘knowing ‘who is who’ helps. As this ends on a bit of a cliffy, which is set to continue in the next is instalment — “Master Bistrita” (Book #11). Happy Reading…

Marshmallow Rabbit by Lois Wickstrom is an illustrated children’s story aimed at children ages 4 to 8years. This story gave me some “Tar Baby/Br’er Rabbit” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory/Willy Wonka” vibes, which I liked. The illustrations are cute, colourful, interesting, and engaging, and helped to bring everything to life. Annabelle has been stealing candy from Mr. Bonbon’s candy factory. Every time there is a factory tour, Annabelle is there taking whatever she sets her mind on, becoming bolder with each visit. Mr. Bonbon is determined to teach her a lesson, and so creates a giant, sticky, marshmallow rabbit that he hopes Annabelle will not be able to resist. What happens when Annabelle grabs the sticky rabbit to take home with her? Well, you can probably guess- but no spoilers from me- so you’ll just have to read the story to find out what happens here. I really wanted to ‘enjoy’ this story- and would have liked to have read it to my grandchildren- BUT, I hated the way the story ended and really feel that the ‘message’ in this book is wrong, and would be misconstrued. I feel like Annabelle got away with very bad behaviour— rewarded even— and that’s not a message I want any child to learn. Stealing is NOT ok, and shouldn’t be rewarded. Especially since this is not a ‘one-off’ occurrence, or out of necessity (due to homelessness/starving etc), or even that Annabelle learned her lesson and turned over a ‘new leaf’— nope— instead, this was just an entitled child thinking they could do whatever they liked, and get away with it, and the got rewarded on top of it all—- plus thinking she ‘got-one-over’ on Mr. Bonbon, too. Well, that’s how I say it anyway. But maybe you might view it differently… Happy Reading…

Kris and the Missing Prince is the first book in The Adventures of Kris series by Art Blegen. This is a fun and intriguing child’s (beginner) chapter book- first instalment in this great little series… It was quite a fun read, with a wonderfully vivid adventure that draws you in and sweeps you up in all the developments… Well written, with plenty of imagination, there are some small (B + W) illustrations which head up each chapter, which also help to bring the story to life in the reader’s mind…. Kris’s love of reading, along with her very vivid imagination means that she finds an ‘adventure’ wherever she goes. Here, her father takes her to stay with Grandma Mable on her farm, where there’s lots of exploring to be done. She and Ralphie, Grandma Mable’s huge furry St. Bernard dog, have a wonderful time frolicking around the farm. But when she finally enters the woods to explore, where she not only meets some new friends, but also finds herself on a quest to rescue a missing prince. She’s a knight, not a princess- though. Facing obstacles, a bully, the threat from the evil gnome Gnalath, and more…. Her quick thinking and bravery help her face and overcome challenging situations- while also drawing us further into the story and her ‘world’. With action, fantasy, drama, high stakes, friendship, overcoming obstacles, mystery, and intrigue- made for an engaging read- and there are also some ‘lessons’ imparted along the way…. Each instalment to the series could be read as a standalone, as each has its own fully contained adventure, starring Kris. But, having said that, Kris finds herself in lots of interesting situations that result in fun adventures- which you will definitely want to be part of…. Mealtime At the Zoo: PB & J Café is a really cute and fun, children’s illustrated story by James Williamson. My grandson and I had lots of fun following James the monkey as he delivered lunch to all the animals at the zoo. The specialty of the day- PB & J sandwiches all made to order- served just the way the animals liked- some even with ‘special’ ingredients added to suit the individual animals. The story is accompanied by lots of lovely, bright, colourful, interesting, and captivating illustrations — which brought the whole story to life. It is a charming little adventure – told in a rhyming verse that adds a fun tempo, as well as an extra element of interest to the whole story. We look forward to reading more of Mr. Williamson’s stories again, soon. Happy Reading…

Breaking Apart is the second instalment in the Finnerty and Liccione Mystery series by Wanda J. Venters & Mary Rae. It is another engaging medical mystery, woven with crime and investigation, whodunnit tension, PTSD, danger, agendas, sinister forces, complexity, twists, intensity, suspense, secrets, lies, multi-layered plot, emotion, a deadly drug, a prescription drug diversion scheme/drug ring, threats, time factor, and a tense search for answers. The violent death of a young veteran has Dr. Marne Liccione & Dr. Louise Finnerty on a dangerous quest for answers. There seems to quite a bit more to the case than first meets the eye, and they will be shocked to discover where their investigation leads. With sinister forces at work, will these two be up to the challenge? What happens make for a gripping read. Break Bone Fever is the first book in the Finnerty and Liccione Mystery series by Wanda J. Venters & Mary Rae. It is a medical mystery with crime and investigation, whodunnit tension, a deadly contagion (Dengue Fever), an LGBTQ+ element, a web of intrigue, secrets, lies, agendas, multi-layered plot, science, social/political commentary, and a quest for justice. When a friend dies under suspicious circumstances Dr. Marne Liccione & Dr. Louise Finnerty find themselves on a dangerous quest for the truth. Their investigation leads to places they never imagined, and they are faced with untangling the clues to uncover the answers they seek. Having lived in the tropics of Australia and Papua New Guinea, I have had Dengue Fever a few times over the decades- which made this story more intriguing for me. An interesting start to this series. The two main characters are well developed individuals with their own unique quirks and flaws- with a great dynamic. I look forward to seeing them ‘develop and grow’ individual, as well as a team, over the course of the series. Happy Reading…

Murder On West Main is the second book in the South Shore Mystery series by I.M. Foster. It is a cozy historical murder mystery with a small town/village setting, crime & investigation, suspense, drama, tension, and a whodunnit element that adds extra intrigue to the story. With the addition of the map at the beginning and the historical notes at the end- the author provided all the right ingredients for an engaging read. Colin’s boss is murdered, and he becomes the prime suspect. With Daniel, the village’s assistant coroner, and colin’s sister, Kathleen- we follow along as they investigate the case to try to get to the bottom of it all, to clear Colin’s name. War in Sorcery’s Shadow is the third and final instalment in the Raurnon Trilogy by Elise Carlson. As this is the third and final book of the series, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one as the first two books contain important information, character introductions, backstory, and other relevant details that you really should know in order to fully appreciate this book, and the series as a whole. This is a YA LGBTQIA+ action-adventure fantasy with magic, sorcery, myths, prophecy, Guardians, good vs evil, challenges, drama, secrets, quests, and high stakes. Elise Carlson left the best till last with this epic conclusion to trilogy. The characters face some major challenges as the author amps up the intensity. Woven with plenty of mystery/mysteriousness, intrigue, and action- these characters will need to bring their A-game in order to face what lies ahead. So let the final leg of their adventure begin… I am really looking forward to seeing what Elise Carlson has planned/will deliver, especially with her new Sythe Trilogy- just the name has me intrigued, and sounds like it could be pretty epic… Happy Reading…

Rhapsody in Black: An Elena del Carral Mystery is the first book in the Rhapsody In… Elena del Carral Mystery series by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra. It is an engrossing cozy mystery with a whodunnit element, crime & investigation, suspense, danger, tension, emotion, jealousy, secrets, sabotage, accidents, agendas, twists, & dramatic developments- all set on the ‘ballet-world’ stage. This is another well-developed, multi-layered story- with a tightly woven plot that snagged my attention right from the beginning, and had me trying to piece everything together as the plot unfolded. Elena del Carral is excited to be offered the opportunity to dance for the premier ballet troupe in New York City- but when secrets and agendas are added to the mix, a sinister shadow is cast- making for some suspenseful reading. Pro hockey player Banks and sports agent Kaitlin get swept into a spicy game of love where spark fly and there might be more than meets the eye. What happens makes for a fun read. Texas Winds by Dana Wayne is a contemporary western romance with all the ingredients that kept me turning the pages, reading well past my bedtime, just so I could find out how it all played out in the end. The story is an angsty and emotional read- with family drama/dynamics, some suspense, tension, action, pain, grief, touches of humour & heartwarming moments which help to balance out the more complex elements, new beginnings, and endearing characters. I really felt for these characters and what they had/were going through. Ms. Wayne certainly knows how to tug on heartstrings, as well as craft some more gritty moments that added an extra element of intrigue to the storyline. I can’t wait to explore more Dana Wayne’s work… Happy Reading!

Stop That Lion by Lois Wickstrom is a children’s fantasy story with a bit of a fable/parable feel. Along the way it imparts some great lessons about problem solving, thinking outside the box, asking questions, finding answers, friendship, family, overcoming challenges, fairness/equality, and consequences. With interesting and colourful illustrations, plenty of fun, some high stakes, thought-provoking situations, creativity, and adventure – which made for a great read. Unicorn Don’t Do That by Lois Wickstrom is a cute children’s fantasy story with a unicorn, friendship, a little ‘toilet’ humour which kids seem to love, interesting & colourful illustrations, plenty of fun, and adventure. The illustrations are really cute- big, bright, bold, and colourful – bringing the story to life and really grabbed my grandchildren’s attention. With a Unicorn dad and a Stegosaur mother, Stegga is very unique. We follow along when she is invited to her friend’s party- but what will she give him as a gift. Will You (Pretend) Marry Me by Christi Barth is a sweet and enjoyable contemporary romance- a bit of a romcom, with an enemies to lovers vibe, pretend relationship vs real feelings, hidden identity/alter ego, chemistry, secrets, banter, angst, and just enough ‘drama’ to keep things ‘interesting’. Kaia is a pop superstar with a student teacher alter-ego, Abigail Dilworth. What will happen when she sets out to finish her teaching degree, doing her teaching training by going incognito at a high school where she will need to deal with the vice-principal who has secrets of his own. The Winemakers Box Set contains Books #1 – 3 in The Winemakers series by Giovanna Siniscalchi. This is a fantastic way to jump into this fabulous series, with three books for the price of one…. And a great book binge opportunity also. I always enjoy Ms. Siniscalchi’s stories, and this box set certainly delivered an enthralling read. This is an historical romance series, it comes with a unique identity that sets it apart from others in the same genre. Set in Portugal in the 1870’s, that author expertly weaves tales that easily transport us through time into a rich, vibrant, and entirely picturesque settings, which definitely give the stories an extra element of interest. Can we take a moment to appreciate these beautiful covers too, they really are gorgeous!! They are what drew me to the books in the first place, then after reading the blurbs, I was completely sold. Ms. Siniscalchi has delivered well-woven stories filled with wonderful details and descriptions, romance, culture, drama, agendas, secrets, winemaking, vineyards, chemistry, real history, tragedy, heartache, pushing boundaries and proprieties of the day, politics, duty, expectation, emotions, mystery, cultural details, spice, danger, quirky & complex characters, and a sprinkle of humour to balance everything. The wonderful cast of characters made it quite easy to connect with them, quickly investing in them and the outcome of their stories. Captivating till the very end. Drag Me Down is the fourth book in the Full Throttle Cyborgs series by Landra Graf. It is another full throttle sci-fi romance brimming with action, super-charged chemistry, plenty of sparks, sizzle, drama, danger, tension, emotion, cyborgs, and so much more. This intriguing plot for revenge that turns enemies into lovers, with a second chance at romance- which definitely dragged me in and had me invested right from the get-go. I love all Ms. Graf’s books, but this is definitely one of my most favourites reads from her. And as with the rest of the series, it gives off a bit of a futuristic ‘Fast and Furious’ vibe. What Eyes Can’t See is the third book in the Bold Journeys series by Paulette Stout. It is a women’s fiction story with a contemporary spicy romance, drama, angst, social issues/commentary, opposites attract, slow burn, fling to enemies-to-lovers(ish) storyline, BWWM (interracial romance), discrimination & racism, a quest for justice, emotion, finding where you belong, and a journey of self-discovery. While this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone without feeling like you are ‘missing’ anything, as this book focuses on a different ‘couple’. Barbara Washington is a hardworking and ambitious attorney whose plans for the future went up in spoke the moment she caught her fiancé cheating. With her own plans upended, she gifts her destination wedding to a friend, and attends even though her heart is heavy. There, she meets Sebastian, who is also an attorney- and they have an immediate connection- soon the sparks fly. Barabara returns to New York, expecting to get a promotion that was all but promised to her- only to find the position has been given to someone else—- a newcomer to the firm – and to make matters worse the ‘new-hire’ just happens to be Sebastian – awkward much. Finding Cheer is the second book in the Magical Emerald Hollow series by Heather Schneider. After enjoying the first book in the series, Chasing Cheer, I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to dive into the second instalment for another charming read. This is an engaging, sweet (paranormal) romance, with a touch of magic, intrigue, a little mystery, some forced proximity, chemistry, sparks, drama, secrets, discoveries, and endearing characters. Again, as with the first book- I can see this making a great movie too. After Holly Claus came to Emerald Hollow (previous book) things have certainly taken an interesting turn, that’s for sure. But, this story focuses on Sofia Reyes, a slightly jaded local who will find fate has a special plan for her- one she’s a little skeptical about to begin with. But fate won’t be denied. Add in some magic, mystery, tension, and emotion- and this charming read takes a captivating turn. Looking forward to Book #3! Happy Reading…

Loris Open Up His Heart is the first book in the Courage Tales series by Dagmara Sitek who has lovingly crafted a wonderfully meaningful children’s story (with lovely colourful illustrations that help to bring the story to life by Lau Frank). The story is aimed at children aged 5 to 10 years-old — but I feel there is value to the story that will ensure that the book can be enjoyed and appreciated by all ages. This is not only a cute tale but teaches valuable life lessons along the way. Loris hasn’t had an easy life and as a result has ‘closed-off his heart’. When he is placed with a loving, supportive family, he learns to ‘open up his heart’ again. Along the way he, along with his foster family, teach us about emotional intelligence and how to deal with strong emotions such as anger, frustration, loneliness, and hurt. It also shows how opening yourself up to ‘new’ and scary experiences can have wonderful results. The story touches on topics such as bullying, making friends, the meaning of family (and that family doesn’t always mean you have to be ‘blood’ related), having compassion/empathy, being kind/generous, being helpful, being brave/resilient/patient/tenacious, and finding purpose in life. I really felt for Loris and what he had been through. I was so happy that he found a family that made him feel like he was safe enough to open up his heart again. I really wanted to give him the biggest, squishiest hugs. This was such a lovely, heartwarming story that left me with all the ‘feel-good’ vibes of a meaningful story. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series…

I must say that I was curious about this book,, because at first I thought it was an anthology- but it isn’t- it is one story told/written by 10 different authors. Well, I have never heard of that being done before- so of course I had to grab a copy and see how the story turned out. The ten authors who contributed to this book are: -Skye Turner -Sloane Nicole -April D. Berry -C.J. Pinard -Danielle Jamie -Darlene Tallman -Julie Moran -Livell James -Machelle Hanleigh -Melissa McKinnon They have produced an intriguing paranormal romance with action, fantasy, adventure, magic, Fairies (Fae), sylphs, werewolves, drama, danger, agendas, fated loved/fated mates, forbidden romance, chemistry, steam, tension, mystery, elemental forces, prophecy, war, insta-love/insta-lust, and emotion. With there being ten different authors lending their talents to this one story, it would be understandable if you were somewhat skeptical about the end result being cohesive. But I am here to assure you that this book reads as if there had only been one author- so colour me impressed. Sneaking through the wards into the human realm isn’t anything new for Aeris, she’s been breaking the rules since she could remember- so what is different this time? Well, a tall dark stranger who knocks her off her feet and locks eyes with her is what…. Aeris and Callum are from two different worlds, a fairy and a human. But is he, human, that is. Afterall he can see through her glamour, which he shouldn’t be able to do. And why can’t she stop thinking about him? Things take a bit of a dangerous turn throwing these two into a situation they could never have predicted. What happens when their forbidden union is discovered? Where does prophecy and war fit in? And what does fate have in store for these two? Well, you really should read all the captivating details for yourself and discover how it all plays out in the end. Before I Let You Go by Kellie Wallace is the first book that I have read by this author, so I had no reference as to what her storytelling was like- but the cover grabbed my attention, and the blurb fired my curiosity to find out what happened. So I happily one-clicked myself a copy to explore. I loved the premise of the story, right from the get-go I was intrigued by the whole earth-bound spirit, remote island murder mystery aspect and I was excited to see how the story played out. What I discovered is a contemporary paranormal romantic mystery with drama, danger, suspense, intrigue, and uncovering secrets. While, for the most part, I enjoyed the story- there were aspects that pulled me out of the storyline and had me questioning things. For me, there was a lot of contradictory/conflicting information/details. As well as getting whiplash from the characters sudden changes of opinion after having given very strong opinions to the contrary only paragraphs earlier, with no reasons for their change of heart. It felt like a lot of manufactured drama and that left a ‘bad taste’ in my mouth. It also made it difficult to connect with the characters or feel like I was fully invested in them and the outcome of the story. The story was slow to get going, it was at least a quarter of the way into the book before the ‘story’ really started. So that was frustrating. A lot of what happened in that first quarter of the book could, in my opinion, have been condensed into a couple of chapters, or been told in a prologue. It just ‘dragged’ the beginning of the story out way too far and took away from the intrigue of the ‘actual’ story. The transitions from scene to scene were somewhat abrupt and confusing too. With only a sentence space between one scene and the next, which didn’t allow enough space to ‘end’ what had been happening, before continuing, which made one scene flow into another, causing confusion. That had me rereading parts to figure out what was going on before realising that there were different ‘scenes’ playing out. A bigger space, symbol, motif, swirl, or other visual clue would have allowed a smoother scene break and given the story a better flow, while saving any kind of confusion. Again, though, I did overall enjoy the story- I just feel like the author missed the opportunity to take her book to a whole other level and really stand out from ‘the rest’. But, I see that the author has a lot of other books to her name, which makes me curious to see what else she can do, so I will be going back later to explore more of her books and find out. Secrets of the Moon is the first instalment in the Chronicles of the Lost Child series by Kristy Centeno. As I have loved everything I have read by this author, so far, there was never any question of whether I would be reading this book or not. I snapped up a copy the moment I saw it had been released, and then jumped right in the instant it hit my Kindle. I am always so excited to begin exploring Ms. Centeno’s work- and this was no exception. Because I love Ms. Centeno’s books, I had really high expectations going into this story, as her previous books have been amazing — so I was really excited to see what lay in store for us here. Again, as with her other books, this is a highly original and exciting paranormal romantic suspense, with werewolves/shifters, adventure, action, danger, intrigue, mystery, dramatic developments, violence, agendas, interesting lore & legends, and palpable emotion. This was an engaging story, and Ms. Centeno managed to pack so much between the covers of this book- making for a very gripping read. She hooked me right from the word go- and I didn’t come up for air till I had read every last word. Ms. Centeno has written such an engrossing, detailed, and wonderfully dynamic story- that I was completely caught up in all the developments. She had me avidly reading the whole way through, as the story is very original, creative, and imaginative. The characters have been crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. They really brought the whole story to life and added so much more depth and ‘flavour’ to the whole ‘adventure’. But there were moments where I wanted to scream and shake them as the angsty push-pull ramped up the further into the story I got. It was so frustrating, and at times it felt like ‘manufactured drama’. Going into the book I thought that Marjorie and Kyran would come through in the end as (fully) fated mates, but everything is still up in the air- with her having a ‘bond’ with both twins. I got to the end and will now have to wait to find out what fate has in store for Marjorie, Alexis, and Kyran – so the next book can’t get here quick enough. #teamKyran I did have issues with this book that I don’t remember encountering in her previous books. Little things that distracted me or pulled me out of the storyline- to the point where I would re-read passages to confirm what I had read. Things such as a few contradictions/conflicting information, editing issues where some sentences were missing words, or sentences didn’t make sense. I felt like the editing/Beta-reading process let Ms. Centeno down just a little. But luckily these issues didn’t detract from my over-all enjoyment of the story – but now I need the next book STAT lol. If you love paranormal romances with gripping & suspenseful storylines, intriguing characters, original lore & legends- then you will definitely want to dive into this series. Happy Reading…

Amese of Animalis is the first book in the new Borosa Legacy series by M.J. Murray. It is a fun children’s fantasy story (aimed at children aged 10 – 14 years) — full of magic, elemental guardians who balance life in the universe, action, adventure, fate/destiny, mystery, drama, tension, danger, vivid world-building, agendas, lessons, and high stakes. Amese is 13 years old and embarks on a bit of an epic adventure as she steps up to become a guardian. The weight of the responsibility weighs on her as she needs to refine and master her skills/powers if she is to perform her duties effectively. But maybe not everyone wants to see her succeed, so in order to get through it all she must depend on a most unlikely ally. Add in plenty of imaginative and creative touches, original storyline, and great characters/s- and the story takes a captivating turn. What a great start to the series, making it my favourite of Ms. Murray’s books (so far) — and I can’t wait to see where we go from here. Bring on Book #2! Happy Reading…

Queen of the Fairies by Lois Wickstrom is an illustrated children’s fairy fantasy story with a bit of a twist. The illustrations that accompany the story are very cute, bright, colourful, interesting, and engaging. The way the story started seemed a little abrupt and confusing, but by the time the story finished, I understood more what/why the author did it that way.
