This book follows right where Denial (book 1) leaves off. Friday is trying to figure out what is going on and who has her back (and who doesn’t). She is under constant scrutiny because people are watching her every move. She also knows some people are probably acting for the cameras and not being honest. She doesn’t know if anyone can be trusted! I enjoyed this book. I am not much of a superhero story reader…but I have found myself pulled into both books in this series. I want to know what’s really going on as much as the main character does! There is a lot…but it isn’t overwhelming. I will continue to read the series to get my answers!

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series written by Mina Chara and it’s the first book that I have read by this author. This is a fast-paced story that takes you to a school where powered people live and train. The main character Friday seems to follow her own drum and is finding out that strange things are happening around her. The secondary characters and the main character are interesting, and I enjoyed the interactions and their quirks.
Friday’s father finds out she has powers, so he sends her to the most famous school for powered people in the world, Hero High. Now she has to live at the Super Structure, and let cameras follow her round every day. She never knew how many expectations they had for powered people. Does she fit in? Dos she wants to be a superhero. Can she live with the cameras following her daily? You will need to read this story to find out. Tracy

Denial (Hero High book 1) by Mina Chara is a 3.5 star read. This is the story of Friday Fitzsimmons who went off to hero high when she was 17, she met and spent some time with her hero Captain Fantastic, she doesn’t really have an active power so is trying to figure out how she can become a superhero. This is my first book by this author and while it wasn’t one of my favourite books I couldn’t put the book down and read it all in one sitting.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it from page one to the very end. It was a short story so I got through it pretty quickly. The characters really brought this story to life and they’re what made this story good. The main character had powers that get her sent away to school. She needs to learn all she can especially about the others around her. I cannot wait to see what else this author had in store for us and I am looking forward to reading more of this series. License to Bite is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. It is a superb Paranormal Romantic Comedy, and definitely sets this series off to a fun start. I have read all Ms. Pulkinen’s books now and have loved them all. This book is a little less spicy and intense than some of her other work, as this has a cuter, sweeter, fun, and humorous look at the New Orleans paranormal world. That’s not to say that there wasn’t any excitement or some dramatic moments that added a little extra ‘zing’ to the story- because there was. Just the overall storyline felt a lot more light-hearted than her other books. As I said, this is a paranormal romantic comedy- with vampires, witches, magic, vampire politics, and other supernatural elements- all set in mystical New Orleans. Jane is a travel blogger who has come to New Orleans for her latest article. But things get a little complicated when she wakes up in an attic, a newly turned vampire- after a “selfie” moment goes horribly wrong. Ethan is a broody, tortured soul- a vampire who has lost his ‘zest’ for ‘life’. When he sees Jane, he is convinced she is his lost fiancée, now reincarnated. He turns her, and soon discovers that there is no way Jane is the person he thought she was. She’s feisty, loud, and oh so frustrating. But according to the vampire law, Ethan must help her learn to be a vampire. Teaching her their ways and helping her gain her ‘License to Bite”. Without it, she will be staked. They have three weeks to get her into shape. One small problem- Jane faints at the sight of blood- and blood is the very thing that vampires need to survive. MMMM, what will she do? This is a quick and easy read full of humorous quips, banter, and antics. The romance is sweet, with just enough excitement to keep things interesting. I am definitely looking forward to book two- “Shift Happens”, which is Sophie’s story (Jane’s best friend).

Black Blade is the first book I have read by Alexander Charalambides. This book brings the story of Excalibur to modern times. Although this book started out slow for me, it really came on strong a couple of chapters in. It is full of action and adventure, and the characters really grew as the story progressed. Lance and Megan, American teenagers, take a special trip for college to the UK to tour a museum, and that is where the story begins. I really like that the story is told in multiple POV. You really learn what each of the characters are thinking that way. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by Alexander Charalambides.

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Doggy Daycare by Samantha Shannon is cute and I along with my grandsons loved the illustrations and the story. It is a Young Adult fantasy adventure story where a lot happens as the students learn more about themselves and what they can do and adjusting to life as a hero and being in a television reality show. Friday seems to always find herself in situations not of her making and getting herself out of them, but she is also drawn to finding out just what is going on and who is involved. If you love adventure heroes, a little mystery and an evil Dr D then this series is an intriguing read.

Endless Night (Dylan Hart Book 2) by RM Gilmore is a fast-paced paranormal mystery and better than the first. This book sees Dylan once again the centre of attention as it appears, she has been set upon by magic older than time and the reason why is unsure but this sassy loudmouth cannot keep her anger under control once her goat is up. This thrilling read is set in NOLA and is ripe with vampires and voodoo, mystery and danger, drama and suspense. My only complaint is that RM always leaves me hanging when the going gets good so now I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

I without a doubt LOVED this book. I cannot wait to read the next one. Effie Kammenou is a first time author for me on this book, she did AMAZING! It’s such a cute book and so sweet. I couldn’t get enough. I even showed my son there were recipe’s in my book and now we have to make some of them! This is the story for Kally and Max, both characters were so well built, I felt like their friend :). Everyone in this book has their time to show personality and I couldn’t put it down. Kally is a pastry chef who wants nothing more in life than her dog Emma and her cafe. Max is a police man who just wants to start over in his hometown. Will these two learn that they need each other, or ruin it with their pasts blocking their future? Read to find out what happens, I promise you won’t be disappointed. If I could give 10 stars this would have gotten them.

Forbidden Desires: Taken by her Son’s Best Friend (Confessions of a Trophy Wife Book 1) by L.M. Mountford was a short and steamy read. The emotion and detail of the main characters had me hooked. It was easy to visualize each scene and feel the heat off the couple in it. I mean wow! I did not want to put this book down. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Excellent read and the distraction I needed from the chaos right now. Easily a 5-star book.

This is my first book by TK Lawyer, I knew I wanted to read it as soon as I saw there was a witch involved. I’m a sucker for a witch, and I’m not ashamed about it. This romantic book had me from the beginning. I had a hard time putting it down. Eva is by far one of my favorite characters and was wonderfully developed. Kingsley had me wishing I was more of a dog person, (haha) and I love how these two interact. Absolutely a must read for my paranormal readers out there and even those that don’t read this genre much. I can’t wait to read the next book and see where TK Lawyer goes with it. Will it be more Eva and Kingsley or other fantastic characters in this book? I’ll be ready!

This book was a truly fascinating read, what with the internal monologue, his interactions with Megan, and just the overall feel for the book. Following the different point of views was difficult to understand at first, but definitely made the book a unique read! It spins off our well known story of Excalibur, and oh boy is it a good one! Definitely worth the read and an absolute page turner! I rarely read this genre but I truly love this book!

Anger (Hero High Book 2) by Mina Chara. This is the 2nd entertaining book in the Hero High series. Its the story of a girl with super powers and she has been a part of the Hero Channel’s most famous show Hero High. She meets 2 important heroes in this episode, the Figure of the Flames and Dr Dangerous. She is also dealing with anxiety on how to fit in to the school just like a normal teenager. She is trying to avoid the cameras that film her 24/7 so that she can investigate some bad guys. Her persona hero, Captain America wants to take her under her wing but his mentee Ashley is not having it. She doesn’t trust Hero High in fact she doesn’t know who to trust or not to trust. This book will keep you turning the pages until the very end. Its a fantastic book!

This story is a great twist on the story of Excalibur. The story is a fast pace story. Once I started this book I could not put it down. The characters of the book are fully developed. I found that the characters are what makes this story of Excalibur fun. Lance, the main character, always knew that he was special. He could sense the greatness within himself. He has some rough times ahead. I recommend this story. It is the perfect break you need from the craziness of today.

Its the story of a 17 year old girl who has powers and as soon as her dad found out he sends her to Hero High, one of the most famous schools for powered people. She has to live at Super Structure and let cameras follow her every move. The school tells her what to wear, what kind of personality to have, who to hang out with and who to fake a romance with. That is a lot to deal with but they are compensated by being paid. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will feel like you are right there with the kids!

This was my first read by this author and it was a great introduction to this authors writing style and brilliant storyline.
I was captivated by this read immediately I loved meeting these characters and reading about their connection and chemistry blossom, it was a beautiful, real and raw, but not without its complications of Secrets, trust issues and sometimes miscommunication, but nevertheless it was a connection I loved reading about and watching it develop into something I think these two characters desperately need! I connected on every level with these characters and was hoping that nothing would hold them back from getting a HEA.
This book was written with great sensitivity and really gave a brilliant insight into mental illness and gave great awareness! I loved reading this book and so glad I picked the read up! I can’t wait to see if Kat & Matt’s story continues but I also can’t wait to read the secondary’s characters stories as-well!

R. M. Gilmore does it again. Endless Night, in my opinion, is even better than The Scene, book 1. By the way you need to read The Scene to fall in love with Dylan. She is a feisty character that you swear is your lost relative. Dylan is still dealing with vampires but this time she is heading to New Orleans. What other trouble do you think Dylan will be getting in trouble with? Her attitude and her head-strong has brought her through her life so far. Will those charms keep going? I highly recommend this book. I cannot wait for the next adventure.

This is a nice story of the possible relationship between neighbors. The story is good. The characters are professionals but they each have another side to them. This touches on a sensitive subject. I loved reading how each of the characters reacted to the situations. It was fun watching them fall. I don’t think I have ever read a book with an OB doctor as the main character. That was different. I liked it.
The secondary characters add some fun to this story. Each character has a crazy fun best friend. They made me laugh and gave me a different look at their friend.

This whole series has been an interesting new look at fantasy novels for me. I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I picked up that first book in this Testament of Feats series. This second book I had a bit more of an idea going into it that I was excited to get my hands on it and discover what would come next for our main character Scream. We follow along from book one into this book so I would recommend that you go back and start with book one first if you can before diving into this one. In this installment we witness a lot of character growth that I had hoped to see and then some. I love how this covers a little bit of everything from fantasy, adventure, action, drama and intrigue to the slow sweet touches of romance and sad notes of sorrow as the book title attests. I think this book is really a great example of having something for everyone and could spread across ages. I look forward to seeing what the next book in the series will bring for us and how things will turn out for these characters I have grown to love.

Romance in Rehoboth is a series from one of my absolute favorite romance authors, KL Montgomery. These novels will entertain you for hours with laughter, tears, and heartwarming love that will restore your faith in the modern day love story. I have enjoyed this entire series and was ecstatic to find out these were released in box sets to be enjoyed in one sitting and shared easily with others. That is one of the best things about box sets is getting the ability to easily give the books you love to someone else. This is the collection of books four through six and has; Badge Bunny, Wedding War, and Stage Mom all in one place. I have included a bit of a review for my favorite out of these three, Badge Bunny but all books are fab and worth a read!
BADGE BUNNY Book#4
Gahhhh! I adored Badge Bunny from KL Montgomery. Montgomery is a one-click author for me and I generally get her books without even reading the synopsis because I know it will be amazing what I read between the covers if it is from her! I have adored every single book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. Each time I find myself saying, I love this couple the most out of all of the Rehoboth couples, then bam! KL throws me for a loop and I suddenly find myself changing my opinion after each book. I have personally read all the books available in this series, but they are written to where you don’t have to in order to enjoy each one. I would recommend that you do though because we see pieces of each couple throughout the series, and well they all rock. So why not? One-click the whole series and set aside a day to spend in Rehoboth!
In Badge Bunny we get the story of Chris and Brynne. These two were some really fun characters to read. Brynne is a doctor, but there is more to her than just that. In the past she has made the repeated mistake of falling for men with badges, hence her nickname of ‘Badge Bunny’. She isn’t a huge fan of the nickname, or the past hurts that these men have caused her. So she has decided to swear off men with a badge. This doesn’t really prove to be an issue until she runs into Chris at a wedding of mutual friends.
Chris, a state trooper and a badge man, has had a thing for Brynne from the moment he laid his eyes on her in the ER. It isn’t until they are forced to work together in a crisis at a friend’s wedding that he even gets a chance to get to know the real Brynne.
Both Brynne and Chris have secrets that will come into play and prose some issues that will need to be worked through together. When a romance starts to finally blossom between the two will they be able to find a way to make it work?
I can promise this will have you laughing side-splitting laughs out loud one moment, and choking back tears the next. Just the right balance of everything makes this an engaging and relatable novel to devour. I can’t wait to see what will come next from KL Montgomery!

This set and entire series are really what make me love romance. I will admit, it is not my first pick in genres, but this set really helped sell me on just how good and how fun romance can be. The author does an amazing job of making the characters seem so real. I am blown away every time at how they could easily be people I know. At the same time, each book is different from one another while still feeling like they all fit together. You will see characters from previous books make an appearance, plus there is the wonderful setting of the beach to make it a must read for the summer. For those who live or vacation in Slower Lower, you will recognize locations and it will feel even more real. I was so excited to see a romance series set here!
If you enjoy romantic comedies set at the beach with strong writing and awesome characters, this set is for you. The set can be read by itself, but I do suggest reading all of the books because they are so enjoyable.

This is a first boxed set of 3 extra books from author K.L. Montgomery. In this first novel, “Badge Bunny,” we meet an ER doc, Brynne Miller AKA Badge Bunny, who has a thing for cops. That is until she meets and swears off cop Chris Everson. Chris is living up his dream life as he’s got everything anybody could ever ask for: Friends, his dream job, and a home on the beach. Except he’s got a secret as well that none of his friends or the other ladies (past or present) know about. Since her first impression of Chris, she’s vowed to never date him. And aren’t first impressions everything? We’ll find out in this page-turner which is guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours. In the second novel, “Wedding War,” temptation and old feelings die hard as rival families merge together to save their family’s businesses. Jason Friday’s family has been catering to the grooms of Delmarva for forty years while Hannah Robinson’s family has been doing the same for thirty years. Over the past twenty years both families have become enemies as their businesses grew. That all changed once they were met with a common enemy in a new superchain of shops, Uber Brides. She’s got a powerful personality, sarcastic, and her dislike for men who have toyed with her through past failures. She’s prepared to put up a fight for her daughter to be a part of the beauty pageant as well. Mateo Flores takes his job seriously as this is his first job heading the Little Miss Rehoboth pageant and he doesn’t plan to mess it up. That is until Hurricane Larissa comes storming into his world and he can’t stand to say no to the force of nature that is she. This is a great collection of books that will keep you entertained. Loved this series. Beautiful characters and beautiful writing as usual from Ms. K.L. Montgomery.

She knows she has to be careful because they’re looking. She was a fixation on the show and a daily part of the Hero Channel’s show, “Hero High.” She met two important heroes in the Figure in the Flames and the copycat Mr Dangerous. Life in the superstructure is hazardous and meddling, especially when trying to expose the truth behind where the bad guys come from. She’s trying to avoid the cameras but she knows they know something. She is distrustful of the Hero’s Channel. There’s no telling who the bad guys are or vice versa. Her personal hero, Captain Fantastic wants to take her under his wing but there’s one problem: His personal mentee; Ashley. She doesn’t know who to trust or where to go for the truth. The mysteries of these books are compelling and the fact that the author puts you in the front seat as “She/Her” is even better for the reader. We get to use our imagination in this futuristic novel. I’ve loved both books so far. I’m keeping this on my waitlist for the rest of this collection.

From “Music Man,” I was addicted but I will read anything by K.L. Montgomery. She’s quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors although I’ve read plenty of her books. This series is simply the best of the romance genre I’ve ever read so far. With each novel in this collection, you learn why I fell in love with K.L. Montgomery’s writing. Everything she writes is gold for the heart as it touches your soul with lessons on just about everything from learning to love yourself to following your dreams or searching for the love of your life. The women in these books are heroines who find men who fall in love with more than just their beautiful bodies but every part of their mind, body, spirit and soul. Each novel is set in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where it’s a paradise in the U.S. The first novel is about acceptance and self-love. She’s fresh off of a divorce, her future looks bright with a brand-new job as well and she’s turning fabulous 40! Claire Sterling is looking to revamp her life with her gay best friend, the help of a therapist and fitness program. This “Fat Girl” is taking her life back and the man of her dreams with her! This one was a funny read: Very entertaining. In the second novel, I love the author’s sense of humor. This keeps me cracking up! These rival nerds have been at one another’s throats all their academic school ages. Ten years later, they came together after becoming heirs to a home in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Both are willing to put their petty ways to the side for the sake of the cottage as both their futures depend on it. Aunt Penny is playing matchmaker from the grave in this romantic novel. So steamy! In the third novel, we find Claire who has just written a musical as she tries to make a simple accountant her leading man. Fresh off of a divorce, he’s not interested in anything but his job especially since that’s how he met his ex-wife. Linda Larson is behind the scenes making what happens onstage a reality but her girlfriends want her to get on stage to let her talents show. Follow us through this novel as you’re in over your head with how steamy these books go. I loved every novel from start to finish, especially the characters. K.L. has a way to make them all come alive through each word. Great series!
