Revelations (Separate Worlds Book 1) by Izzibella Beau – Review by Ashley Dover

Revelations (Separate Worlds Book 1)Revelations by Izzibella Beau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tensions are high in the West Lakes community as thoughts of revenge hang in the air.

Zach and Jacob are a senior and a junior at West Lakes High School. Zach has the muscular build of an athlete, but Jacob is the athletic star. Zach, his best friend, Danny, and Jacob are all members of a pack of shapeshifters, or werewolves. Coming of age is making it difficult for these three young men as both have found it hard to resist the pull to their mates. Pack law says that it must be sanctioned by the pack before they are able to claim their mate making it difficult for all three to remain focused on the revenge they seek with a vampire clan who robbed Jacob and Zach of their mother and took with her their older brother, Adam’s mate, in one attack a few years ago.

Emily Beauford moves to West Lakes with her aunt, Maureen. Emily is a senior starting off a new school. Though the move happens at the worst of times, her senior year, Emily makes fast friends with Alex and Madison. She has also attracted the attention of Zach Lovell. Zach and Emily spend a lot of time together until one day, Aunt Maureen drops a bombshell of revelations that could impact their whole relationship.

If you love werewolves and vampires, then I know you will love this book as much as I did. The characters are easy to get to know and understand. The storyline is one full of twists and turns that will have you hanging on for the next plot twist. Be warned that this book ends with a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more of the story.

To be a Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland – Review by Ashley Dover

To be a Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles #1)To be a Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Titiana is the only daughter of the Fae King Oberon of Aubren. She has experienced loss. Her four brothers were killed three years ago. Three years ago was the last time she heard her mother’s voice. Titiana feels alone in her world. Her only refuge is the quiet time spent with her father and mother after the evening meal and her caretaker, Alfreda.

The peace of Aubren is threatened when the crystal anchors of the Faerie Ring start disappearing in the middle of the night. Titiana is placed under watch with a soldier named Foster. Titiana desires to help her kingdom, but the King urges her to stay away from matters of the state. Does Titiana follow her father’s orders? Will the young fae princess of fifteen discover her true destiny? Will the princess find true love?

The author’s use of imagery in this story places you in Aubren and on the sidelines of this fantastical mystical story. From beginning to end, you will be engrossed in the tale of magic, first love, and destiny.

Have you ever had that relationship that didn’t quite fit into your life when you thought it should? Have you ever had that relationship that you knew was bad for you but kept going back until the final straw broke?

Jaxon Hale is a former Navy SEAL with an honorable discharge after an injury on active duty. Jaxon is filling in for Captain Kane of the Honolulu Police to find a path that he can live with after the military. Kayla Kane returns to Honolulu after an encounter with her live-in boyfriend, Roy. Jaxon and Kayla share a past, but secrets have marred that past since Jaxon was a senior and Kayla was a freshman. After all this time, Jaxon and Kayla’s paths collide again. Trying to keep their families safe from hidden forces and working through the pain they both share, will Jaxon and Kayla finally find a place in their hearts for each other?

I truly loved this book. It’s full of passion, suspense, and real-life issues. Family plays a major part in the lives of both characters. Rebuilding after drastic life changes and finding a place to call home is something that I connected with, and other readers should too.

Most readers don’t like to start a series in the middle, but this book is a true stand-alone. It mentions characters from the first book but can definitely be read without reading the previous book.
