For the Love of Laura Beth is book four in the Chicago Christmas series by Aubrey Wynne. What an emotionally charged story. Laura Beth and Joe face so many obstacles that threaten stand in their way of happiness, but they do not let this deter them. Their soul deep love, courage, determination and endurance is commendable and so sweet to read about. This story was also a heartbreaking, and had me sobbing my eyes out. It touched me in a deeply memorable way. I felt like I was experiencing their lives with them, as I was so emotionally invested on their happiness.
The struggles were relentless and debilitating, but never once did they give up. Never once did they throw in the towel. Never once did they leave each others side. A true love story. One of the very finest I have read and one that left me breathless. 5 stars.

For The Love of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne is the fourth book in the A Chicago Christmas series. This book is highly emotional and do everything it can to tug at your heat strings. Marriage is hard enough for anyone to navigate. But for Laura Beth and her husband Joe they have to overcome so much that at times it seems utterly impossible. But they haven’t given up fighting yet for the love that once seemed so strong. Will they be able to come out the other side of it? You cannot help but root for these two. They seem to have gone through so much that you want good things to happen for them. The journey they go on throughout this book is heart breaking but also heartwarming. You can see how much they love each other and you can see how hard they work to make things right. I always enjoy this authors writing style but this book definitely caught my attention more than any previous. This is a book well worth reading.

This beautiful tale was so honest and charged with emotion that I felt like I was walking with the characters through the pages. Although short in length, the story is rich in detail and fully developed. The author does a beautiful job with these characters and providing them with depth and realism. I felt this book stood on its own well as I had not read any other book in this series prior to this one. But I will now gladly go back and read the other books in the series. A short and wonderful read!

For the Love of Laura Beth is the fourth book in A Chicago Christmas Series by Aubrey Wynne. This is a wonderful, moving historical romance, set in and around the Korean War. This “Christmas story’ is woven around friendship, family bonds, sacrifice, resilience, strength, determination, overcoming obstacles, love, and drama. I loved the way each chapter starts with an inspirational quote, as this added to the whole ‘feel’ of the story. A very emotional, well written and thought-provoking read. The characters really made the story for me. It was entirely realistic, relatable, and believable- because Ms. Wynne has a talent for weaving (real) historical elements into her stories and bringing everything ‘to life’! Looking forward to reading more of Ms. Wynne’s work.

Rhapsody and Rebellion is one of my favorite type of books. I love Historical Romance novels. You get to place yourself in a time from 100 of years ago. To be in a time where men were gentleman. They held doors, came to pick you up for dates and showed you with respect. Even though in those times women were more like property and broodmares. I mostly like the parts were the men are rakes and all the girls are in love with him but the mom and chaperone are like stay away. I really enjoy the authors take on this time period. Gideon and Lissie are very unique characters. The gift brought the story a twist that was very enjoyable. The only thing I disliked was the way they spoke. I understand that the way they spoke was normal but goodness I could do without. Overall a good read if you like your historical romance filled with adventure and strong characters.

This was a sweet romance that takes readers back in time. It was too good to put down. Gideon and Lissie were amazing main characters. I loved how opposite they were yet drawn to each other. I didn’t like the address Lissie carried with her but after losing your husband I could understand how painful the loss would be. I really enjoyed the storyline and the differences in the cultures present. I found both the Scottish and English ways fascinating. Such a wonderful read.

Rhapsody and Rebellion: (Once upon a Widow), written by Aubrey Wynne, is the 7th book in the Enduring Legacy Series. This book is a historical romance, and the first I read in this series, and I LOVED IT. I found myself lost in the world of Gideon and Alisabeth. Alisabeth lost her love and then a month later Gideon comes to town and awakens something so deep inside her. Gideon leads his life people proper and never straying until a dream his mother has changes thing. These two are so drawn to eachother but the guilt that Alisabeth carries is almost too much for her but the desire also takes play into the road of Gideon and Alisabeth. Once Gideon finds out about the rebellion he needs to fight not just for country but for the one who holds his heart.
The author truly puts you in the book, in the story with a storyline you get lost in. You can close yours and see the era and also feel what the two main characters feel each step of the way. Being as this is the first book in the series and also the first by this author, I am jumping in and reading this whole story. I give this book five stars and highly recommend for anyone who loves historical romance! WELL DONE!

This is a heartwarming and heartbreaking Christmas story that will bring you hope. This is a story about Laura Beth and Joey. They thought they had the future figured out until the Korean War threw a wrench into it. What they didn’t realize is the struggle after Joey comes home. Their story is emotional and warming at the same time. They are well thought out characters that are strong and made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

Classified as a historical romance, this book checked every box for someone looking for a little romance, suspense, mystery and history all rolled into one. Following the story of Alisabeth and Gideon, when Alisabeth marries her best friend. The affection and loyalty that they have for each other, but the passion that burns between them surpasses all other emotions. When tragedy strikes Alisabeth making her a widow. She is lost trying to figure out what is the next step in her life, until she meets Gideon. While she is a widow, Alisabeth is still a strong full of life woman, and a beauty to all of those around her. Rhapsody and Rebellion is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy series. Each book is by a different author (in this case, Aubrey Wynne), but all focus on the same Scottish family whose mysterious powers are both a blessing and a curse. The books can be read as stand-alone stories, but are connected to each other. I really liked the grounding in historical events, and the attention to historical detail in the worldbuilding. It definitely falls into the historical fiction bracket for combining history lesson with drama and bringing a time and place to life. For me, the written Scots didn’t quite flow but this may have been because it was only used for certain words. Other than that, I felt thoroughly drawn into the story! I particularly liked the character Alisabeth – she’s grieving and struggling to find her place in families in the world after losing her husband. She’s sensitive to those around her and generally a well-developed character. It’s a classic love story, but the historical setting and magic add a unique flavour. If you like romance, and are interested in British history (although mostly focusing on Scotland, we get to see various places in England as well!), this is definitely worth a read! For me, it gets four stars.

The story For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne is a book that I loved reading. It is a story that had me misty-eyed at times and also with a smile on my face. There are heartbreaking as well as heartwarming moments. The story takes you on an emotional ride that doesn’t stop until you have read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Laura Beth Walters and Joe McCall. These two have been best friends and that has blossomed into love. They have a bond that everyone who falls in love wants to have. They are devoted to each other. The Korean War drastically changes their wedding plans. They then must bear the separation. When Joe returns home their marriage is tested by tragedy. Laura Beth has always been a compassionate and strong woman. The type to always help those when they needed it, picking them up when they were down. Joe is determined that he will now be the one she can lean on. This is a story about family, love, and trials. I grew to love the characters of Laura Beth and Joe with each chapter that I read. There are additional characters that are introduced, and I enjoyed reading about the part that they play in the story and also their interactions with Laura Beth and Joe. This is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend reading.

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve read a book like this and it’s one I devoured.
Gideon the Earl of Standfeld was raised to be his father’s image. He’s very practical and exact. Lines are not blurred in his world so when his mother has a dream and begs to go back home to Scotland, he has no idea how his life is about to change and one highland beauty will catch his eye.
This book is the 7th book in the series but definitely can be read a standalone. I enjoyed the characters as well as the story intertwining with real historical events. Miss Wynne has a way of sucking you in with her story telling and not let you up until the end. I will be going back to book 1 in this series and I can’t wait to be sucked into each and every one of these stories!

After marrying her best friend at 17, Alisabeth has become a widow after less than a year of marriage due to political uproars. When her husbands cousin arrives things take an interesting twist.
When Gideon and Alisabeth meet you can feel the connection between them. As they get to know each other better, things start to build even more between them. Gideon discovers that he has inherited something special from his ancestors.
Will these two get a HEA?
We get humor, action, suspense and so much more. Aubrey Wynne does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in.I really liked Alisabeth, she was a strong character. Gideon quickly grew on me, he was just a lonely guy looking for love and these two together were great. All of the secondary characters were great. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.
Rhapsody and Rebellion (Enduring Legacy #7) by Aubrey Wynne was a intriguing, interesting historical romance, that had me hooked.
This was my first read from this author and this series. No worries this reads as a standalone, so don’t let that big number seven frighten you. In saying that, I am going to be checking out the other book in this series, because if they are anything like this one then.. girl, I can’t even right now.
Being set in the 1820’s, it was richly detailed and lush, I found myself drawn into this world of the past. Touching on an age that I’m not familiar with, I felt like I was brought there, seeing it, living it like it was that time. I never felt confused or lost, you can tell research went into this read, to make it as authentic as possible.
The overall story is quite the tale, and I found myself not only rooting for the MC’s but I became invested. Want them to have their HEA was a must! So yeah, the feels got involved in this one, and at one point I thought it was all going to go up in smoke. Man you can’t to do that to my heart. Beside the splendid love story, there is war brewing, and that adds another struggled and strong element that rounds out this wonderful read.
This book is a super high recommendation from me. So please take my stamp of approval that you will be drawn into the distance past, and fall hard for this couple that are trying to fight the odds.
Here’s a book about a family fighting to save themselves and their beliefs. A family trying to protect the innocent and the ones they love. “It’s an honor and a heavy burden. And I wish to all the saints that I could save ye from both.”
This is my first book by Wynne and what a great start! This story includes mystery, death, rebellion, The Legacy and even second chances. People protesting the government is not a new age situation. It goes back many years, in this story’s case back to the 1700’s.
I really liked the details of this story. The way the characters talked made sure we knew they were from Scotland and/or England. The style of writing kept me turning the pages, wondering if they would survive, if they would save their loved ones. I look forward to reading more from Wynne. I can definitely recommend this book.

“Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon a Widow” is a lovely story surrounding multiple riots in England and Scotland in the late 18th century. Our hero, Gideon, Earl of Stanfeld, has to take his recently widowed mother, Maeve, back to her home in the Scottish Highlands following a disturbing dream. There he meets the young widow to his cousin, the lovely Alisabeth. I stumbled upon this book recently and hesitated reading it as I don’t normally like to start a series in the middle, however this is not your normal book series. All of the books are written by different authors and occupy different times of the same family line so the books aren’t necessarily in order or follow the same people. The foreward recommends reading the first book to understand the series, but I feel Aubrey Wynne did a wonderful job explaining the back story necessary to understanding her story. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book, especially the headstrong Scottish women! Alisabeth, Maeve and the other women in the family were a joy to read about! They are bold and unashamed by it and I loved it! I also loved the family connection that is shared between select members (I don’t want to give anything away but it is a really neat touch to the story as it is the underlying theme through the series.) All in all, this historical fiction was right up my alley and now I’m itching to read more about this family! So, I give “Rhapsody and Rebellion” five stars!

Rhapsody and Rebellion is the seventh book in the series but can be a stand-alone book by Aubrey Wynne. This is a historical romance book with drama, suspense, and second chances. There must have been research done by Aubrey Wynne to be able to write with such clarity with in the time period of this book. I am not one who likes to learn about history because of all the dates but I find this historical romance different. It is interesting when you see the history through another set of eyes. This story is about Alisabeth and Ian then Alisabeth and Gideon. Alisabeth is betrothed to Ian from the day she was born. She became best friends and from there the relationship went into marriage. However, Ian was not long for this world as he was killed one year during a battle and Alisabeth became a widow. An English Lord, Gideon enters into Alisabeth’s life and starts to court her. What becomes of that relationship I will leave you to read about it. It is a heart-felt read and it is beautiful written. It makes me want to read more book by Aubrey Wynne.

Rhapsody and Rebellion by Aubrey Wynne is her contribution to a historical romance series Enduring Legacy where multiple writers contribute with their historical stories. It is my first encounter with this writer and I am sure that when I crave some historical romance, I will check out her other writings … AND the Enduring Legacy series itself as even though all the stories are supposedly standalones, they apparently have a common undertone/theme … It has been a while since I picked up a historical romance and the story of Earl Gideon and Alisabeth (Lissie) was a beautiful gem to enjoy after such a long time! It was story wrought of differences and contradictions – Scots vs English, stiff upper lip and running wild, nobility and social activism … add to this unexpected attraction, legends and characters that you cannot help but fall in love with. Loved the historical details, the tapestry the writer weaves … pure joy! I have always loved Scotland and the way she tells the story … I could close my eyes and picture it in my mind … If you love history and romance and especially the conflict between the Scots and the English … this book is for you! I love a good historical romance story so when I read the blurb for this book I knew that I was going to enjoy it and I certainly did. I loved everything about this book, the era, the storyline and the characters. I’ve not read anything by this author previously so it was definitely exciting to find a new author of historical romance to love. Gideon was everything I expected of the male lead in this story and especially from this time period too. The authors writing was really good, her attention to detail in particular – I really felt like I could visualise what I was reading and I love this with this type of story. I really liked Alisabeth too, she was a great character and I loved reading the story between her and Gideon. I think any lover of historical romance will enjoy this story and I highly recommend it! Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon a Widow, is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy series. An anthology series that tells the tale of a Scottish family and their descendants, that are blessed with three magical gifts; sight, empathy, and Truth. The gift is passed down the family, often skipping generations and only coming forward in a time of great upheaval. And with England and Scotland always at each other’s throats, the family must hide their gifts from those that wish to destroy them. In Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon a Widow, Aubrey Wynne tells a harrowing tale set in the Scottish Highlands in the 19th century. The story follows Gideon, Earl of Stanfield and his principled black and white view of the world, that begins to falter when his mother tells him of her eerily accurate dream foreseeing his cousin’s death. Thus causing them to travel back to his mother’s ancestral home in Scotland, where he meets a recently widowed Alisabeth. Could it be love at first sight, or just a simple flare of lust between them? This series is a perfect read for fans of Outlander, and lovers of historical fiction. Wynne did excellent research for the story does not make any inaccuracies and her tale. I really enjoyed the story, but found it to be a little short. I would have loved to have more, and really space out Gideon and Lissie’s relationship, as it did come across rather rushed and fast. But if you’re looking for a quick steamy story with Scottish Highlanders, then this is perfect for you. Overall I gave this 4/5 stars!

Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon a Window (Enduring Legacy #7) by Aubrey Wynne is a historical romance. There is lots of action and drama, suspense and tragedy, love and second chances. Aubrey has created a story that is totally engrossing and you will find yourself fully immersed in the story as it unfolds. She has woven a tale that is intriguing and has a little bit of everything, with all the Political turmoil and Highlander historical events, rebellion and Scottish legends, Folklore and special gifts. The storyline is well written and the characters completely draw you in to them. Having visited Scotland and the highlands it is easy to see all that Aubrey has laid out for us.
If you like historical romances this is definitely the book for you!

Rhapsody and Rebellion (Once Upon a Widow) is book seven in the Enduring Legacy series by Aubrey Wynne. I have not read this author’s work before, and found it a little hard to get settled into the book, as I had missed the first six books in the series. But that did not last for long. I still really enjoyed the story.
It has been so long since I have read a book of this genre, and the stype in which the story was written was well set out, well planned and immaculately executed. A storyteller of immense talent is Aubrey Wynne. The ability to engage me when I had not read this series before, amd keep me enthralled and amazed just exhibits how incredibly talented the author is.
Alisabeth, Gideon and the eccentric, eclectic and entertaining cast of Rhapsody and Rebellion were delightful and appealing. The story mesmerising and refined. A memorable must-read. 5 stars.

Rhapsody and Rebellion (Once Upon a Widow) by Aubrey Wynne is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. This is a great example of historical romance. I sometimes find these books hard to get into as they aren’t set in our time but there was no issue at all with this book. You are drawn into the characters and the story straight away. My other issue with historical romance is that I find the stories tend to be quite boring but that it also not the case with this book. I found the story to be quite exciting. I loved the political edge to the book and how the characters were caught up in the intrigue of it all. And the two main characters were so easy to read about. Right away I knew I wanted a happy ending for them because they were engaging characters. Overall this is a great book and one I am pleased to have discovered.

Admittedly, I LOVE a good historical romance. And thankfully this book definitely did not disappoint. The main characters and wonderfully crafted. The reader is immediately transported and immersed into Scotland. I kept thinking if I just closed my eyes and opened them I would “wake” to bonny Scotland. If the Highlands call to you, you MUST read this book ASAP.

Rhapsody and Rebellion: (Once Upon a Widow) by Aubrey Wynne is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy series. Alisabeth and Gideon are the main/featured characters in this historical/regency romance. The author lays the necessary ground work to hold true to the theme/style of the story with the historical time vibe from years past. Once I began reading this story, I did find it’s certainly not your standard historical romance novel- and there’s not one thing wrong with that. I think it gave this novel a bit something different giving it some additional allure. Emotional pulls are evident as you continue through the chapters, adding some additional depth to the story. The little details that Aubrey Wynne wrote it really made this story more fulfilling to read.

Rhapsody and Rebellion: Once Upon a Window is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy Series by Aubrey Wynne. This was an intriguing historical romance with drama, action, humour, suspense, second chances- and where love truly does conquer all. Gideon is the Earl of Stanfeld- he is proper, pragmatic, and controlled. But his predictable world will be turned upside down when his mother has some unsettling dreams and he agrees to take her back to her highland roots. Alisabeth had her destiny laid out for her from birth when she was betrothed to Ian, who then became her best friend. But unfortunately, Ian was taken from her after only a year of marriage. So, what happens when an English Lord steps into her world? You really should read the book and discover all the clever details for yourself. This story showcases Ms. Wynne’s creative storytelling talents and gives the reader a very immersive experience. There was so much happening in this book- but it was all wonderfully choreographed into a smooth and entertaining read. The way Ms. Wynne wove her story around actual historical events- then sprinkled in some folklore and legend amongst the political and social unrest, really made this book quite an interesting read. This may be my first read from Ms. Wynne, but it undoubtedly won’t be my last. So, if you like a great regency/historical romance, with wonderful characters, and an story that will pull you in and engage you from beginning to end- then this is definitely the book for you!

This was a lovely story with a man,Gideon, who is learning more about his family, himself, and love. Lissie is grieving, but may be able to find the passion that she wishes for and a second chance at love.my favorite character was Gideon, because I feel that his character growth was the most. I loved recognizing how he changed! I loved reading how these characters dealt with difficult situations and Gideon’s family’s gifts. I thought that this story was fun and interesting as well as easy to read. This is book seven in the Enduring Legacy series.

Rhapsody and Rebellion: (Once Upon a Widow) (Enduring Legacy Book 7) By Aubrey Wynne. I’m not a huge fan of historical romance stories because I sometimes feel confused but I didn’t have that problem here. This story had my complete attention with its wonderful characters and well written storyline. This story has a bit of everything to capture the readers attention with action, drama and romance. It’s paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking details. The characters are complex and believable with a chemistry that jumps off the pages. I’ll definitely be looking for more from this author and maybe looking at more historical romance stories. I’m giving this book a four star review and highly recommend it to everyone.
