Not So Little Things Audio Book by Kyle Ann Robertson – Review by Jennifer Crain

“Not So Little Things” by Kyle Ann Robertson is a captivating audiobook that delves into the complexities of family dynamics and the power of communication. The story follows Tina Edwards, a 33-year-old miniature room artist, who is still haunted by the memory of her father’s sudden death and her mother’s abandonment.

The author’s writing is engaging and well-paced, with a strong focus on character development and emotional depth. The narrator’s performance is also excellent, bringing the characters to life with her clear and expressive voice.

One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is its exploration of the impact of miscommunications and misperceptions on family relationships. The story shows how these misunderstandings can lead to unwarranted pain and separation, and how confronting them can lead to healing and closure.

The audiobook is also full of vivid descriptions of the Victorian mansion and its intricate details, which will transport listeners to a different time and place.

This was a wonderful story. It’s so beautifully complicated. I could relate so well to it. After my stepfather passed, I found out things weren’t what I thought they were. That really hurt, I thought he was my world. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer. It’s amazing how much we can relate. I found the characters to be unique and entertaining. Their personalities really showed through. Every personality had so much to work with and on. I really ended up having to listen to this story in virtually one sitting because I was totally drawn it. I found the narration to be good. It’s a story worth using that credit on.

This was a new author and narrator for me. I absolutely was not expecting how great and interesting this story played out. I enjoyed the “Little Rooms” and Quote wall. The twists in the truths coming to light brilliant. I’m definitely putting this author on my to be read list.
Carrie Brewer really brought this story to life with her narration. It was very soothing to listen to.

Not So Little Things Audio Book by Kyle Ann Robertson – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Tina Edwards is my kind of person. She loves building fairy houses, just like her father did. When her father passed away, Tina’s mother took off. Leaving her with her aunt. Now that Tina is grown and running her own miniature room business. Things she once knew are changing, the secrets are coming out and everything she once knew is no longer. While at the same time she is working on rooms for an old Victorian home. The author of this story has a great way of writing stories. They captured my interest in chapter 1 and kept me listening to the end. So much going on in this story and yet kept my interest. I am looking forward to reading more from this author. Her stories are well written.

This is my first audio by this author which I enjoyed listening to.  This is a mystery story about Tina and her determination to figure out if stories from the past are true.  Plus Tina’s mother reenters Tina’s life and has her own secrets to tell.  I enjoyed this story and how the narrator brought the story to life with different tones of voices.  This is an easy book to listen to and had me wanting to know more.  An engaging audio with characters that are connectable and make the story for me.  I look forward to listening to another audiobook by this author in the future.  I highly recommend this book.

Not So Little Things Audio Book by Kyle Ann Robertson – Review by Robin Rankin

Not So Little Things

The Fairy houses were enough to convince me to listen to Tina’s story. While they were an important part of her story there was so much including some surprises which I never saw coming.

Tina held onto some very important memories from her childhood with her daddy. Those memories lead her down a career path with her best friend. Though it’s not super successful in the beginning she sees things shift after a meeting with a client amongst other things.

Doors open and shut all the way through. I loved the memories of Tina and her daddy, made me think of mine and miss him more than normal.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this book, the narration only added to the it. I found myself getting lost in the story instead of what I should have been doing.

At the age of nine years old, TINA EDWARDS finds her mother MARY JANE EDWARDS smoking a cigarette, sitting across from her beloved dead father JONATHAN EDWARDS. Tina adored her father, embracing the time he spent with her building fairy villages under the pecan trees in their backyard. Her mother disappears after selling her family home in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains and leaves Tina with her father’s sister, her wheelchair-bound AUNT LIDDY EDWARDS. Tina leaves for college, majors in Art History, and specializes in creating dollhouse-sized replicas of historic rooms in homage to her beloved father. All the while, Tina believes her mother has something to do with her father’s death.
Tina establishes her niche business in the world of miniatures with her best friend NISSA, Tina’s own Jiminy Cricket. When Mary Jane shows up with family secrets after 22 years of absence and dying of lung cancer. Tina reluctantly allows her mother to move in during her treatments and Mary Jane brings along BELLA, her caregiver and companion.
Tina believes she has betrayed the memory of her father and avoids Mary Jane when handsome businessman/restaurateur Mr. JAKE MARTIN hires Tina to replicate the original rooms of his family’s mansion turned B&B. Tina discovers more than the businessman cares to know about his family. Having been fueled by tales from the past, he believes he must accept his lineage, but chooses to ignore it. When Nissa discovers family unknown to Jake and his mother, they find out the stories from the past were unfounded and become reunited with that side of the family, proving that miscommunications passed down through families create unwarranted, painful separations, echoing Tina’s life story.
Because Tina gradually learns the truth about her father’s death, she must let go of all her childhood beliefs and perceptions. Johnathan had a heart attack while informing Mary Jane that he was filling for divorce, moving to DC, and planning on taking Tina with him. Mary Jane was not going to allow Jonathan to take Tina away from Aunt Liddy and threatened to tell the world his secret- that he is the one ultimately responsible for putting Liddy in her wheelchair as well as the death of Tina’s birth father. Tina reels from the news that Jonathan was not her father but her Uncle and Mary Jane, the mother she grew up despising, is not her mother but her aunt who actually sacrificed everything to keep Tina with her rightful birth mother, Liddy. Tina forfeits all her childhood beliefs, the ones she has based every one of her adult choices on, to become as strong as the women who raised her when she realizes the decisions made by her mother, father, and aunt throughout her childhood were all made, and held in secrecy, in the name of love and protection.

Murder off Route 82 Audio Book (Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by Ashley Phillips

This was a nice quick listen, and I enjoyed learning about Eve and her journey through college while solving another one of her mysteries. The book had an extra twist to it that I didn’t expect while working on the mystery. Eve was determined to solve this while in school, in a time crunch, and with her missing friend’s mother causing her extra stress! I hope the next reader will enjoy this listen like I did!

Very fun read! Kept me on the edge of my seat. The narrator had just enough in their voice to draw you in, but not enough to give away the next moment. Very well done!

Murder off Route 82 Audio Book (Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by M Policicchio

I couldn’t believe the twists in this sweet romantic mystery.  I mean who saw the crazy coming!  This is my first Eve Sawyer adventure.

Eve Sawyer is a journalism major at a local college.  She wants to be an investigative journalist.  It seems like she is starting early by helping the police solve crimes in her spare time.  In this story, Eve is contacted by her friend’s mother, stating that her friend never came home and is missing.  Eve soon discovers that the friend’s boyfriend is missing too.  Are the two disappearances linked?

As Eve starts looking for her friend, she discovers so much going on.  A bad break-up, a deceased father, an overprotective mother, a mystery ancestry hit, and an unexpected ransom situation.  What seems connected may not be but could be.  The crazy series of events that led to the big truth reveal was out of this world.  Not to mention the budding romance between Eve and her investigation buddy.

Overall a good listen for the afternoon!

I first read this book about 2 years ago. I enjoyed reading the story at the time and have enjoyed listening to it this time around. The narrator did a good job and I enjoyed the voice she brought to Eve Sawyer. Since it had been a while, listening to the story was like discovering it all over again. I highly recommend the series as a whole.

This was the perfect listen for my four hour drive. I loved the story and how it kept me guessing what happened right until the end. Eve Sawyer was an unusual character and I’m definitely going back and listening to the rest of the series she is featured in. This was the first book narrated by Tiffany Williams that I have listened to – I love her voice and how she brought the characters to life. I’m looking forward to more books narrated by her in the future.

Murder off Route 82 Audio Book (Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by Laura Jones

This was a very entertaining read! I finished it in one go, listening to it while I was working. I found it to be an enjoyable listen. This is book 3 of the Eve Sawyer series, and I’ve read the previous books. This book, however, would do fine as a standalone for anyone who hadn’t yet read the previous books. In this book, Eve and her love interest, Bob, set off to find their missing friends, Sally Rae and Drew, after Sally Rae’s mother called Eve to ask for her help in finding her daughter after she hadn’t come home for the weekend as she had planned. Drew and Sally Rae were in a relationship, but it was rumored that they had split up. However, both of them were missing with no clue as to what their whereabouts could be. Were they together? Sally Rae hadn’t been spotted by anyone since Friday afternoon, and Drew’s phone was left at home, and he was nowhere to be found. Eve and Bob do their best to track the two down, eventually receiving help from Drew’s roommate Randall. The friends are taken on a wild ride, full of twists. Another great read from Jane Suen, and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

This book was really good. I listened to it in one sitting because I needed to know what was going to happen. As the plot thickened, I couldn’t stop listening. The ending took me by surprise!! The narrator was excellent and portrayed the characters really well. I would recommend to this anyone who likes a good mystery but might only have a short amount of time to listen.

Eve finds herself enthralled in another mystery when a childhood friend disappears. With limited clues, Eve finds herself grasping any lead she can find. The narrator kept my attention while switching between different characters. The story was interesting and full of well done character development. This was fast paced book with several mysteries packed into one.

4/5 stars

This is one of my favorite authors. She has a way of writing that draws you in and keeps you there until the very end. I find that I enjoy this series because it feels like a down home country cozy but its not. I loved how out couple (unintentional) work together to find Sallie Mae. The description of Snake Mountain from the guy at the gas station would have given me nightmares along with her dreams. Such vivid details in the story that are brought to life by the narrator in the story. Audio brings so much to life that you do kind of miss just reading in the book. The narrator did a nice job. I loved the story and characters. It’s a fantastic series that I definitely recommend.

Murder off Route 82 Audio Book (Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen – Review by Cindy Mayberry

I did not see this coming. Eve received a call from a friend’s mother. The woman was panic stricken as her daughter always called or came home from college. When she did not show up, Eve went into detective mode and followed the clues to find her friend. That is all you get as I give no spoilers. This is a cozy mystery and was enjoyable to listen to. The storyline was easy to follow, but the end was shocking for me. I enjoy reading books from this author. She sets the scene and takes her readers on quite the journey. I love a story that reads like this. The characters give you that feeling that you have met them and they are friends. The story is fast paced as well as heart pounding. I look forward to seeing where this series goes.

SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5(The Logan McKenna Series)SAFE HARBOR: Logan Book 5 by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Safe Harbor is book five in the Logan McKenna series and very well written crime story with a strong female lead. As always, you can read this as a standalone, but it does follow characters from previous books so extra character development and details carry over. This time around, Logan McKenna is in Oregon and if we have learned anything at all, she has a knack for finding problems. When a murder is reported, Logan finds herself being a suspect and she must prove her innocents. The author has an ability to suck us in to her characters, plots, and settings in a believable way, making this an easy read. I wonder where the next one will take us with Logan and her crew!

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Ashley Hasting

Dahlia will forever be one of my favorite characters from a series as amazing as this! 🙂 We are at the final book and man, what an amazing ending! So much has happened with the other 4 books, and so much was added to this one book alone. Half of her team went to another world to retrieve Creed’s brother, as well as tackle what they can. While they are there, the apocalypse happens on Earth. Dahlia struggles with the dragon in her heart, I will always remember this series, and might even binge listen again! 🙂

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Lorralei Hoerner

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars!!

This series is fantastic….and I highly recommend listening this series from the beginning but it is also bittersweet it is the end…..

Dahlia, a dragon shifter, is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after the fall of Sentinel City…but with missing friends, the veil between the worlds, monsters galore…..will Dahlia finally bring her inner dragon out to help save the world?!?!

There is so much to this story… details that grab you and adventure and action that await! While I am sad this series is over (but will definitely listen to all the books again) I’m excited to see what the author brings out next for my listening pleasure.

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Amanda Glaspie

This was a wonderful final conclusion in this series. I cried at the end because it was over. The culmination of everything brought it all full circle. There was the perfect amount of action, hope, and heartache. I loved every minute of it. I can see people potentially being disappointed with the ending, but I think it was the best option for all. Definitely give this whole series a listen!

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy Audiobook by C.L. Schneider – Review by Callie Luna

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is an incredible story! This is the first book that I have read/ listened to by C. L. Schneider. From the first word, I was propelled into an incredible action scene and an apocalypse to boot. The action and suspense are present throughout the book. I did not want to stop listening for a minute!

The audiobook quality and the pacing are amazing. Dahlia’s voice is what I expected and her personality shines through. Some of the other male characters’ voices can be a little annoying but overall I thought the performance was great. During some of the intense scenes, the narrator slows down to really provide the needed impact.

Even though there were previous books that I have not read I was able to understand the story and fell in love the with characters. Dahlia is a strong female character lead. The authors’ descriptions of the places and the creatures gave me clear visuals of the world. I love how Dahlias’ shifting is described. I cannot wait to read/ listen to the rest of the series!
