Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Kerry Baker

It has been quite a while since I read this book so when I saw the audio version I thought it would be a great way to go through a re-read. I thought the narrator did a great job. I was completely pulled into the story and, although I knew what was going to happen, I still felt the mystery and the intrigue. I was lost in the story from the moment I started listening. I think it works well as a short book, I could fit this story in easily to a hectic schedule.

This is an author that I really enjoy and I think the books translate well to audio. I really enjoyed getting into this book and I will definitely be listening to more.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Amanda Glaspie

This was a fun quick mystery. Eve who felt a strong connection to Murder Creek immediately knows that she needs to look into an unsolved murder for her journalism class. I loved that this was an easy listen but was able to get touch on important little details. The ending was sad but perfect. Definitely worth listening to.

Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Murder Creek is a story about a college student named Eve, who is working on a term paper. She states that she always gets weird feelings about different events in time, like murder. She ended up feeling something eerie at Murder Creek. This feeling was so strong she started to research the history of Murder Creek and became curious about the disappearance of a young teen girl named Lacey. This brought her to visit Murder Creek and start to investigate this unsolved case. Much of the town was very quiet about this story, but Eve’s determination started to open people up to giving some answers. I enjoyed this book. As someone who loves to solve puzzles, I had fun trying to figure out where the story was going to take me. There are many characters that play a part in this book so I would say pay attention. Also I liked how with new information I was finding myself revamping my theory. While I did not fall in love with any of the characters, they all played a good role. I enjoyed the story line and it was a quick read.

Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery, #1)Murder Creek by Jane Suen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A fun quick read/listen. Eve is a college student with a heightened sense of intuition who finds herself investigating a small town cold case for a journalism paper. She goes on a journey to try to solve the mystery of a missing girl. Once in Murder Creek, she finds the townspeople to be receptive to her questions. The time she spends there, she learns of a second mystery that occurred 200 years ago – and the facts of both cases helps her solve the case. Eve is a likeable character who you will want success for.
This is an easy-to-read mystery best suited for teens and young adults as well as general audiences who like clean, quick read mysteries on the light side.

The Traitor (An Underground Bad Boys Romance Book 2) by India Kells – Review by Kaitlyn Leatherwood

The Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys SeriesThe Traitor, An Underground Bad Boys Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book two in the trilogy and all I can say is she definitely keeps the embers burning in this one because it is hot!!! The m/m/f action had me tearing through this story fast. You don’t have to read the first in the trilogy to enjoy this book although I would recommend it to get the full experience. The characters are rich and complex, and the story delivers beyond just the erotic scenes. India Kell’s delivers once again.

This is the first book in the trilogy and oh boy what a start. It’s erotic and has all the m/m/f action I didn’t realize I was even looking for. Locke and Gage are drool worthy in every way and the honorable/bad boy thing they have going is hot as hell. This will most certainly be a reread for me and a recommendation to others looking for a steamy book with a great plot to boot.

When a doctor tries to do what’s right things get a little crazy. Now she’s in an apartment with 2 men trying to fix things so she can go back to normal life but is that what she really wants? And is 3 really a party or is it too crowded? Follow this story for a spicy whirlwind romance that keeps you guessing. Thomas, Gage and Tessa keep you on the edge of the seat as they work through all the challenges that are working against them. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. India Kells is an amazing author and knows how to keep things interesting 😉

Small town romance with a twist. In this novel you once again see your loved bad boys with Knox and Gage being front and center along with a new arrival Josie. Starting over is hard but even with his own problems he couldn’t help but notice a small town local with her own set of issues. India Kells once again does it, combining both spice and drama to keep you entertained all the way through. Highly recommend to anyone who likes a little danger to their spice

This was a new one to me, the idea of reading a sexually charged novel always piques my interest, but this was a different sort of charge all together. I can tell you that I made the mistake of trying to read some of this novel in the backseat while my in-laws were driving, and I turned several shades of red, but couldn’t stop. This author allows the reader to completely (or mostly) let go of the inhibitions and go on this erotic ride with what must be some of the sexiest characters that exist in the literary world. Locke is a stubborn man, as would be expected, and the connection/friendship he shares with Gage is to die for, chosen family and more.

The ability to have us get to know the characters in their own worlds, and their personality traits and issues before getting the sexual adventures underway was a well thought out method to draw the reader in and allowing us to feel like we aren’t peeping into a strangers fantasies. One of my favorite tidbits is that the women portrayed in the writing aren’t the fit, thin, super confident women we usually read about in romance novels, rather, they are average (albeit beautiful) women that have self-esteem issues or their own discomforts/self-doubts. Being one of these women, it allowed me to really connect with Tessa, who seemingly has her head screwed on straight, her professional life being the best it can be, yet, missing something in her personal life. Amazing! Currently reading the rest of the series, and very much looking forward to all the good goosebumps to come, highly recommend!

Tessa is a doctor that gets swept up in an underground sex trade that leaves her head spinning. Locke sweeps in and rescues her just in the nick of time and she stays with him to pay off the debt that he incurred by taking her off the sex slave circuit. His friend Gage ends up popping in to get patched up by the fierce independent doctor and she finds herself getting swept up in some really hot sex with the both of them. She starts to develop deeper feelings for Locke but she doesn’t think he cares for her. There are some rough obstacles they have to face if they’re going to make their relationship work. I really loved this book. It had action, heat and romance and an amazing ending. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series.

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil Series) AUDIO by Megan Mackie – Review by Jennifer Wolbeck

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (Lucky Devil Series Book 1)The Finder of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this as an audiobook and found it enjoyable overall. This is my first adult urban fantasy/cyberpunk read, and I liked the combination between magic and technology. The strongest point of this novel is its world building. There’s so many details and lore, from the collapse of the fairy court to the house of the lucky devil himself. The magic system and concept of second sight was also exciting, and I appreciated that they had a definite class system describing the level of magic a person could use.

However, this book wasn’t without its faults. Megan Mackie and Frank Sjodin did a great job narrating, but I didn’t care for how they chose to divvy up the reading parts. I would have preferred if Megan Mackie read everything, and Frank Sjodin only read St. Benedicts lines and chapters. Sometimes they would go by thoughts or narration and it sounded off. I also didn’t care for some of Mackie’s writing choices. Some details, paragraphs and conversation could have been trimmed for the sake of pacing. For example, the beginning of the book could have introduced Rune and St. Benedict faster.

The characterizations were also very hit or miss. I didn’t care for St. Benedict for most of the book, but I loved Rune, Allie the girl dog and Taki the mermaid. The title of the book was also a cute play on words. When I first picked up The Finder of the Luck Devil, I thought it was about a girl looking for a hot guy, a “lucky devil”, but it was literally Rune using her magical talent as a finder and her title being the heir of the Magdalene and the owner of The Lucky Devil bar.

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil Series) AUDIO by Megan Mackie – Review by Meg Tyrrell

I’ve read this e-book, but loved it so much I had to hear the audio version. It was INCREDIBLE! The performance of the female and male characters were amazing and added to this story so much more. I loved everything about this and am such a fan of Megan Mackie. I’m so glad I listened to this audiobook because it gave me a different perspective than just reading it. Yes, I’ve “read” this book twice now, but SO WORTH IT. Totally recommend this audiobook!

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil Series) AUDIO by Megan Mackie – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (Lucky Devil Series Book 1)The Finder of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in The Lucky Devil Series. The Lucky Devil is actually a bar. There is some mystery surrounding The Lucky Devil. The newest owner, Rune is one of our main gals. She was left with the Lucky Devil when her Aunt, the previous owner, died and left it to her. There is a small hitch in this newfound role of owner for Rune. She is hiding something and it may be detrimental to her being able to do her best job. It has already caused her a lot of pain in the past. Will it continue to do so? Will she be able to come out on top in this or will things crumble before she gets a chance to get used to the idea of owning this neat little bar?

There were some really neat descriptions and word play used to bring to life some scenes of magic and intrigue. Ones that I thought about long after I finished listening to this book. I loved how realistic this seemed even though there were some strong hints of imagination used. Overall, I am excited about this new series. Thanks so much Megan Mackie. On to The Saint of Liars!

Alamir, Blood of Kaos is the first Book is this new series and it is a great start, Etain is a very powerful woman who came into her power in a bloody and messy way. She is constantly trying to decide who she is able to trust and who is out to get her. While Miller does an impressive job of weaving a tale full of descriptive action scenes and well-developed characters, the strongest point of this story is the supporting characters such as Spirit and Inferno. These characters give color and depth of the story that would otherwise be two dimensional.

Miller is an amazing author who impresses me with her ability to take characters from pages into reality. I am excited for book two.

Alamir (Blood of Kaos Series Book 1) by Nesa Miller, was an epic love story, epic action and adventure story and an epic save the world story. So much going on in this story. Mystery, intrigue, revenge, I am sure I’ve forgotten some. It’s a little difficult to pin this story down to a genre as it sounds like elements of several. Fantasy, science fiction, horror and more. The characters are fully fleshed, and the world is intricately constructed. The love story between Etain and Dar has all the tension of a tightly wound spring. A very creative, keep you on your toes story.

This mystical fantasy was a great start to an amazing read. From first listen, I was enthralled with not only each character but their past and how it affected each one of them in so many different ways to the point where their past defined their present, their future and the way they operated because of that. You were captivated so much from loss, love, lust, betrayal and the impacts of distress, grief, loss and the way their trauma impacted their life. I don’t want to give too much away other than that but this was worth every single page to get engulfed in!

This was my first book by Nesa Miller. The beginning of this book had me slightly confused but it ended up working out. Our lead female character is Etain, a human turned Alamir. Our main male character in my opinion is Dar- Lord Darknight. There are multiple players in this story and they’re all a great supporting cast. This story was well written and a unique take on lovers who have a hard time finding their time to be together. It was a good story and I look forward to the next book.

This book was great! It is my first book by this Author and also my first book by this Narrator. I thought this book was attention grabbing and I was excited to see where the story would go. Etain is our main charcter and she is an interesting one. She is strong and determined and you can’t help but like her. The author did an awesome job at keeping the story going and I enjoyed that this had some originality to it because I’ve never listened to anything like it. I will say it took a while for me to get use too the narrator. She had a very high voice at times and it threw me off a bit but it didn’t take away from the story and I still liked it a lot. I am looking forward to listing to more of this authors stories and I would recommend this to a friend!

Dark Fantasy loaded with information, pay close attention. You may need it in the end?

Etain is looking for the assassin, hunting him down before he harms her family. All those years her father told her fairytales and made up stories. But we’re they really made up? Seems she will need some of the knowledge she gained while listening. Her family is gone and she is all alone.

What a great story for those who like dark fantasy. Nesa Miller wrote this exciting adventure. Her writing skills made this a fast-paced page turner. I love the characters and how Nesa Miller describes them. I felt like I was meeting new friends. New friends with a whole lot of action. I could hardly stop listening to this Dark Fantasy. Audible sure brought this story to life. No Spoilers Found here. You really need to hear this one. Job Well Done Nesa Miller!!

This story is full of steamy, sensual storyline with a mix of menage included. I really enjoyed this story the book twisted and turns into a great suspense which will have you hanging onto every word which you will not be able to stop listening too.

The story revolves around Dr Tessa Freeman who is trying to help the woman who find themselves within the ER from this hideous life but as she becomes a threat to the ring she is kidnapped and is in danger until Locke comes to rescue her but there is a negotiation involved where Locke gives her an ultimatum.

I have read to a few books by this author and this book certainly does not disappoint, if you’re looking for a steamy, well written story this is for you.

The Debt Collector is the first book in An Underground Bad Boys Romance series by India Kells. Holy hotness Batman! This book was so intense and so steamy, I couldn’t put it down. Dr. Tessa Freeman is trying to save girls from an underground slave ring, but she gets herself into some deep trouble. She gets captured by the slave master only to get saved by a debt collector. Locke is such a HOT character; he’s dark and mysterious but seems to have a heart by saving Tessa. The catch is that Tessa must give herself to Locke fully as payment for her debt. This includes Tessa being with his friend Gage too. Tessa has a hard time putting aside the lust for Locke and Gage to know what she really wants in life. This story was jaw dropping at times, the relations between Tessa and Locke, Tessa and Gage, and even Locke and Gage some times. I was blushing on multiple accounts but I had to keep reading. Besides the hot scenes, this book had a deeper story line dealing with the complex characters. I look forward to reading other stories in this series.

This book was completely captivating! I listened on my commute to and from work and found myself leaving for work early for extra listening time because the suspense of knowing where the story was going was KILLING me! I really liked the characters in this book. They seemed very real to me and I loved how the author did that. Also, steamy romance can be a hit or miss for me depending on the author’s language during those steamy scenes and India Kells definitely has the right words! Dan Price narrates this book and does a great job differentiating the different characters. I always knew who was sayin what and could feel their emotion through his voice. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to get my hands on another!
