While this is the second book in this duology, The Book of Hours is the first book I have read by this author. That being said, I was easily able to follow the story without having read the first book. I do feel like I could have benefitted by reading The Coin beforehand, and learned more of these characters, and will be going back to read that soon. The characters were easily relatable and the scenes were vivid and easy to picture. While there is suspense and romance, there is plenty of action and danger as well. When art enthusiast Arnold Wickham wants to purchase Gabriela’s work before an upcoming auction, and she refuses, things get a bit intense. Fueled by the rejection, Wickham will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Richard Harrison, the man in love with Gabriela, will do anything within his power to keep her safe. I am not usually interested in romance novels but there was plenty of mystery, suspense, danger and action to keep me turning the pages. I definitely feel like reading the prior book would have helped me “know” the history and characters better, but I still enjoyed this read.

I listened to this on audible. I thought the story was great, it was full of twists and turns. You are pulled into a complicated relationship and suspenseful story. The audiobook though I was not a fan of the narrator, she is soft spoken and has no real inflection in her voice which conflicts with the overall tone of this edge of your seat story. Overall I would check out more by this author and go back to read the first book.

This is Book 2 Duology and it was a very good action packed suspense romance with danger, a greedy madman, twists and turns and second chance. I highly recommend listening to book 1 to start to know the characters and actions that tie into book 2.
Gabriela is in danger once again…over The Book of Hours… an Arnold Wickham wants his hands on it and will do anything to claim what he believes he is rightfully entitled to.

Suspense thriller 3.5 stars This is the second book in the Coin/Hours Duology but the first I have read from this author. I didn’t feel like I had missed too much as the author cleverly interwove important details throughout the story. There’s a lot within the pages and I especially liked the mystery. This will appeal to a wide audience. Recommend.

The Book of Hours (Coin/Hours Duology Book 2) is an Audiobook I absolutely loved listening to. This is my first Audiobook by this author and the narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life with different tones of their voice. I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in but once I started listening I couldn’t stop. I literally listened on the way to work every day and couldn’t wait for the drive home. This is a story about second chances and obsession ,family. What will this artist do? He will not stop until he gets what he wants. I This authors style of writing and fully developed characters make for quite the ride. I highly recommend listening to this fast paced story to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to seeing what other books this author has written. P

This is my first audio book by this author which I enjoyed listening to. I look forward to picking up more from this author. I enjoyed the narrator and how the tone of their voice made the story engaging. A story about second chances, family and obsession. A story where one art dealer becomes obsessed with a new artist. He is determined and nothing will get in his way to get what he wants. This is an audio book you don’t want to miss for sure. It is an engaging story that made me want to know more which made this easy to listen to. I really enjoyed listening to this story. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Talks Like Thunder by far has been one of the most emotionally stimulating stories that I have ever read. I wept for a while after finishing it. The pain that colonialism has caused native Americans and other people of color is sickening. I am an African American woman who has traces of Native American in my family. To think that my ancestors suffered like this on all sides rattles me to my core. I believe this book needs to be on the high school reading list although I’m sure there’s be those against it. This story would serve to remind us all to embrace our differences in culture and love one another while honoring those who fought for that right. Although the story ended abruptly without us knowing Thunders fate I am hoping it will circle back by the time the series is over.

I was intrigued by the cover and description of this audiobook and decided to dive in… and my goodness …. this story was raw and emotional….and I was rooting for Talks Like Thunder all the way. This is the first book in the series and I will definitely be checking out the rest of the books and I am intrigued where the story goes from here.
Talks Like Thunder loses her parents at an early age and she is taken by her grandfather so he may protect her. She learns quickly how to be a warrior… but constantly thrown in different paths but tries to find a way to fight and protect her people.
This story was so good, drama and heartbreaking moments… but I love Talks Like Thunder and her focus and determination to help her people when they need her most.

This is an amazing novella of Desert Flower’s journey. This really is a story that grabs your attention. I was intrigued at how she started off her life and how strong she became. She is a true warrior spirit. The writing is so flowing and relatable that you must continue listening while you work. All of the characters are well-written from Grey Fox to those in the tribe. They all grew to mesh well, as a family should. This is about a young, indigenous girl that becomes a strong young woman. She overcomes a lot and finds her family. It’s a definite must listen to story. I do wish the narrator could have given a little more energy to her voice. It was a tad dry and I fell asleep a few times. This is my first audiobook by this author which I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I enjoyed how the narrator used different tones to make the story engaging. This was a hard story to listen to. I generally don’t listen or read historical stories. But this one caught my interest. I am happy I took the time to listen to the story. A story told by a young child of seven. Talks Like Thunder is a remarkably strong young child who had to grow up fast. Her family had been taken from her, then a strange man comes along claiming to be her grandfather. Taking her to a new reservation, where she knows nobody. But that is just the beginning for Talks Like Thunder. Her story is told well and the authors knew their history. While this story was heartbreaking. I felt like I was sitting close by watching and listening. The authors, while new to me, I will be looking for more from them. I am interested to see where they take this series.

This is the second book in the series, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. It’s filled with twists and turns and suspense.
I enjoyed the plot and the lovable characters – I was hooked. The writing style of the author was great in aiding in the enjoyment of reading. I loved that once again the characters were well-constructed and the way the story is told through multiple points of view givens a deeper feel for character narrating.
I adored Jas, I was rooting for her from the start. Although she does some not-so-great things, her motive and actions come from a good place – love for her father and the wish to pay for his treatments. Her determination is admirable, even if a little reckless. I was so invested in her outcome.

Marjorie Carter was born in Salem, Missouri, on July 17, 1937. Of Cherokee descent, she learned the traditional ways of her relatives from early childhood. During the eighth grade, she was forced to leave school to work and provide for her younger brothers. At the age of nineteen, she moved to Texas and began her careers in the restaurant and real estate businesses. During her life, she was diagnosed with seven different cancers and fought against melanoma for 25 years. A Native American seer and shaman, she had a passion for art, poetry, and stories. She wrote at her ranch near San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, hoping that Red With Native Blood would help reservation students embrace their heritage. Marjorie died of pneumonia on July 12, 2004.
Randal Nerhus received a BS in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University in 1982, and an MA in Oriental Philosophy and Religion from Banaras Hindu University, India, in 1988. Shortly after obtaining his agriculture degree, he volunteered with the Peace Corps in the Philippines. While traveling in the mountains on the island of Palawan, he visited a remote tribal village and encountered a very different way of life—one of community, contentment, happiness, and love. I threw myself into this book so completely that when the end came, it felt like sudden cold air across my skin while I was warm & cozy. I didn’t want to stop reading for anything, & then the end just popped up & swerved me hard. I had to recover for a day before I could write this. Return to Hoodoo is PHENOMENAL in so many ways, & all the best ones. The author’s writing style is so unique & refreshing, & I felt like I was hearing it all from Gwen herself, like we were old friends. She is such a character to a root for, & I wish I could give her real life encouragement. & universe, could I PLEASE get an Ash ?? like for real. PLEASE. It’s fantastic that Gwen is 45 & still learning & figuring things out. That perspective of age is refreshing & comforting. Intriguing characters aside, the storyline & writing are equally incredible. Love Reggi Dupree’s voice, creativity, & style. All the other books in this series will be devoured just as voraciously expeditiously.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book cover to cover!Gwen shows up and shows out in every chapter in this book.I love the narrator, her voice gives me incredible vibes of the south while listening to it.With every page turn I became more and more comfortable with everything that Gwen faces, and saw my thought process.Gwen gets a haunted house, a ghost, and accusations of murder all in the beginning of the book!I didn’t want to put it down and neither will you!I think I need to purchase the hard back of this one ASAP!

Return to Hoodoo is a must-read/ listen to! Gwen is a kick-ass main character that is very down-to-earth. She goes back to her hometown of Hoodoo, Texas due to an inheritance that she cannot say no to. The story is new and exciting as more is revealed about the town of Hoodoo and the main character Gwen. She is relatable as a woman who is fascinated with sexy men and Bourbon.
I was hooked by the first descriptions of the main character Gwen when remarking on herself. The narration is absolutely perfect; all the voices and inner monologues are done extremely well. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

This is the first book in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue series by Reggie Dupree. The narrator, Ruthie Bowles brought the story to life. I both listened to the book and read it via Kindle Unlimited. What brought the story to life in full color was the audio book. Ruthie has such a rich voice and really got into the story while reading it. This is such a magical book filled with great characters and suspense.

This audio book was just amazing. Listened in one sitting as I could not turn it off. Oh yes, slack of sleep last night. Well worth it. The narration made the characters come to life for me. Exploding off the page.
This was the first book I have read/listened to from this author and I will most certainly be looking for more.
Gwen is finally back home after being guilty in public opinion of murder. She is hated and treated with disdain. Her plan was to go home to Hoodoo to sign papers and leave. Gwens’ luck is never good and she finds herself again suspected of murder. What the heck is it about this town? No one can be trusted and I mean no one. This was such a wonderful ride with the sassy, don’t mess with me or you will get a tongue lashing main character. Loved loved her attitude, even when she speaks without thinking.
Need to go searching for book 2.

This was my first time with a Reggi Dupree book and I was completely drawn to it. The main character is so much fun and relatable (without the supernatural aspect). I feel in love with Hoodoo and all the people in it. I was very pleased with the audiobook since the voice of the main character goes perfect with the story. As usual, I listen to audiobooks on my way to work and then on the way back home but with this book it was impossible to stop listening. Be advised that it will leave you in a little bit of a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for the next book.

Five Fabulous Stars!! Reggi Dupree is a new author to me, and I have to say she really surprised me with the awesome story. The characters and plot were detailed and colorful. I listened to this book in one sitting. I can’t wait for the next in the series.
Ruthie Bowles is also a new narrator to me. I loved her voice and tone. She really brought this story to life. Awesomeness!

Return to Hoodoo is the first book in the Boudin, Bourbon, and Barbecue Series (Audiobook) and my first book by this narrator. I’m fairly new to this author but I’m definitely a fan and will be checking out what other books they have written. I literally listened to this book in one sitting the narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and keeping my attention throughout the story. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. This narrator had me feeling like I was apart of the story right from the start. I highly recommend listening to this fast paced story to find out is three times a charm as lucky as you think it is? I look forward to reading/listening to more books by this author.

I just love to find new authors and new sereies. With this being said I also love when the books have an audiobook version as well. This is a great way to be able to do your everyday chores and get lost in the world created by the author. This book was the first from this author that I have listened to and I was not let down at all. I really enjoy paranormal style books and this was a great change to my usual genre. I like how the author brings the characters to life. The story line in the book really flows well as well as the characters chemistry is really explosive.
This book really has a great underlying topic and I am really glad that an author really chose to use it. I cannot wait to be able to read the next enstallment in this series. The narrator chosen really brought this book to life and I loved the charisma brought to the character. I will definitely be getting more audio as well as proper books from this author in future.
