Vampires of Atlantis by Courtney Davis – Review by Jamie Truex

Vampires of AtlantisVampires of Atlantis by Courtney Davis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The title is what really got my attention. I love reading about vampires and the city of Atlantis has always intrigued me. I was not disappointed. I love the fact that Katherine isn’t a pushover and I can definitely relate to her character. The story moves pretty quickly and keeps you hooked from the beginning. There’s plenty of action and some steamy parts. There has to be a second book because I need to know if she finds the stone and many more things. I definitely recommend this book.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland – Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A smutty, action packed, hot, and heavy Mafia romance that I enjoyed immensely! I picked this book up not expecting much because mafia romances usually sound interesting but unfortunately fail to deliver, sleeping with the enemy did not fail to deliver. Riordan and his Prissy delivered and then some. It was action packed from page one. I had never read anything by this author before but I will most certainly check out her backlog of books. Each of the books in this series is a standalone but I do believe that they have characters in common. I look forward to reading more from this author.

The Secret Humankind: An Urban Fantasy Thriller (The Discoveries of Julia Xero Book 1)The Secret Humankind: An Urban Fantasy Thriller by Gloria Oliver
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had it all from action, suspense, mystery, magic, aliens, twists and turns, fast paced, occult, urban fantasy, thrill, and mayhem all rolled into one book. The story line flows really well, and you can follow ago easily. It was so hard to put this book down, I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The characters are amazingly well written in and match the story line very well. Everything was well developed into this book that it really set this for the next one. Julia who’s an orphan and just trying to find herself and where she belongs in the world, but the twist that happens to her was shocking and made me want to know how she was going to work thou this issue. The problem solving that Julia has to deal with made it really hard not to cheer for her. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait for the next one.

Sing For Me (The Balefire Series Book 2) by Tam DeRudder Jackson – Review by Shelly Kittell

Sing For Me (Balefire, #2)Sing For Me by Tam DeRudder Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the story of Blu and Ashleigh. Blu showed that he had a softer side than the hard rocker that everyone thinks he is. Ashleigh finally mellowed from the uptight, thinking that he’s a pig-headed rocker, and saw him for his true side. I loved this story. It’s a quick read with lots of banter that will have you chuckling. I found Blu’s mom quite entertaining. She is lovely and funny. I think she needs her own story. The characters in this story made this so entertaining and humorous. The story is well-written and very well-done. Again, I love Colorado stories using our beautiful landmarks and trying to guess locations. The details in the writing are beautiful. This is a lovely romance for the rocker lockers and it’s a must.

The Guardsman (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 2)The Guardsman by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, Teresa and Liam’s story is so relatable. Even though she came from a rich family, her struggles are one’s that many of us can relate to. Now, Liam, that man is hot, sexy mystery and one that would be fun to discover. I sure enjoyed reading their love story. The mystery of where Liam was after the bombing had me on edge wanting to know just as much as Teresa, Ali and Joe. Don’t even get me started on some of the antagonist’s such as Carrie, Ulla, Koli and some of the others.

The writing is wonderful. I found the tone to be a mysterious and suspenseful tone. There was always an air of “the other shoe is going to drop.” The characters were so well-developed and the details of them and in the story made me feel like I was there. This is one of the best romantic suspense series I’ve read this year. You can read them as standalones or in order. I recommend in order. You have to read this series. You won’t be disappointed.

The Guardsman (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 2)The Guardsman by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the second in the series and follows on from book one. This book is just as good as the previous one and I was pulled into the story as soon as I started reading. I loved the main characters. Their story, their connection it all felt so relatable and real. The characters are what made this book for me, I wanted to see how things would work out and how they would develop.
The book was well written and has a great pace to it. I like the authors writing style and I will be looking into more of her work for sure. This book was thoroughly enjoyable and I think it is well worth the read.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As with every book I have ever read by this author, this one is absolutely fantastic. It took no effort at all for me to get into this book. I was pulled in right from the start and was hooked on the characters. This story was so emotional. It was complex and heart wrenching, with complicated characters. It is exciting to read and I became invested really quickly.
This is an author that I never fail to enjoy. Her books are ones that I buy without reading the description because I know how amazing it will be. I loved the fact that this is a spin off as the original series was so good. And after reading this book I know this series is definitely going to be just as good. I would highly recommend this book.

Firewall by Jessica Mehring – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

FirewallFirewall by Jessica Mehring
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed Firewall. It was a short book, that I was able to read in one night. It kept be engaged and I hardly put it down. The plot wasn’t at all what I expected, based on the cover art. With the title and Angus’s profession, I was thinking California Fires, not IT and romance. I think the evolution with Angus and Veronica happened wayyyy too fast, but overall I really liked the book. I liked the connection Veronica had with Cara and Angus, and how it all tied together. The characters and their connection is good. If the author plans on another book in the series, the groundwork was laid for it. I want the backstory for Cara and Veronica’s Beach encounter that was discussed a couple times.

Love, Only Better (Bold Journeys Book 1) by Paulette Stout – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

Love, Only BetterLove, Only Better by Paulette Stout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Bold Journeys series and wow. The description of this book caught my attention, it is something that is made to feel so shameful but really shouldn’t and I loved that this book shed light on the topic.

It was covered well, sensitively and realistically. I’m sure most women have worried about being the only one experiencing an issue that’s rarely talked about, whether sexual or otherwise, and this made the character Rebecca more relatable.

I loved the character of Rebecca (and not just because we share a name). She was written to be likeable and is certainly relatable with her insecurities, but it’s her determination and strength than I find admirable.
I also loved Kyle. He’s amusing and charming so what’s not to love?! I look forward to getting more background on Kyle in the next book.
I enjoy this pair together and I’m happy that there’s another book to keep me going!

I was totally looking forward to reading this – I LOVE the 80’s! Blaine’s mother owned a novelty store called “Back to the 80’s” and passed it on to her when she died. Eric wants to demolish the store to build a brewery. Blaine talks him into giving her a month to prove to him how great that decade was. This was such a great read with a nice trip down memory lane!

Marked Wolf (Protector Wolf Shifter Series Book 2)Marked Wolf by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have come to really love this author’s books and series. I really love paranormal romance with a good mix of drama. I really enjoyed how the author was able to bring the characters to life and just grab the reader into it. I felt as though I was right in the midst of the drama going on. I really could not wait to see how things were going to progress and how it would come out. The storyline really flows and was so unique. I was on the edge of my chair.

The whole sort of forbidden or enemy type romance really added to the book. I like how there are more events that are able to help the flow of the story. The characters really have a unique chemistry. I was so at my wits end as the drama added to it. I really cannot wait to read more from this author and series.

A Forever Kind of ThingA Forever Kind of Thing by Melinda Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mina and Wes, the two protagonists, have different backgrounds but grow and mature together at a prestigious high school. Like most teenagers, you either want to slap them or love on them throughout the story.

One thing I liked about the book was the problems Mina and Wes encounter, for the most part, typical of teenagers. with the exception of Wes being in foster care. I liked this because it is more relatable to both adult readers and teens alike.

One thing I didn’t like about the novel was the middle kind of dragged on- the book had a strong beginning, weak middle, and decent end. I would definitely try to read more books by either author.

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals Book 3) by Deborah Garland – Review by Kerry Carr

Sleeping with the Enemy (Astoria Royals, #3)Sleeping with the Enemy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. My 2 favourite things are Mafia danger and dangerous passionate romance and this book has it in spade. It is book 3 in the Astoria Royals series and even though it can be read as a standalone I will definately be going back to read the first 2 books in the series.
As you would expect with a Mafia Romance there is danger, enemies, forced marriage, with a possessive dominant male. There are a couple of themes which some readers may get triggered by so it is definately for a mature reader.
Riordan is an underboss who has worked hard to keep his reputation. He is feared by many people and enemy of many more. Years ago a girl he had feelings for was attacked by 3 members of the Russian Mafia. He took care of the men but lost the women he had feelings for. She left and he didn’t know what had happened to her.
Fast forward and they meet again when she is a sub to the Russian Mafia. The same group of people that harmed her all those years before. Riordan is immediately attracted to her and when she warns him and takes a bullet to protect him he wonders what game is she playing. She is an enemy so how can she be trusted.
When he realises who she is exactly Riordan is determined not to lose her again and do whatever it takes to protect her.
Priscilla however isn’t the same women he knew all those years ago and when secrets are reveled about how she actually is now Riordan becomes only too aware of how much of an enemy she is to the family. But as the saying goes. Keep your friends close but your enemies closer and that is exactly what Riordan plans to do.
This plan is great in theory but what happens when he true feelings for Priscilla comes to light and he starts to fall for her. After all this time is the girl that fell for him years before still there or is the strong determined woman going to end up destroying herself and him on her path for revenge.
This was an amazing read. I loved that it was told from the view of both main characters as it gave the story more depth. If you like Mafia romances that keeps the pages turning then i definately recommend this book.

Cruel King by K.M. Scott – Review by Lisa Helmick

Cruel KingCruel King by K.M. Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

MAN this guy is tough to take! He is exactly what the title says….Cruel! He made me so mad sometimes with his actions but mostly his words. He surely has a lot of room to grow. The female lead is a kind and forgiving soul..until she is pushed one time too far by him. Then we see another side of both of them.

Was I shocked a time or two in here? Yes but mostly to the extreme someone would go to to push another away.

Did I love the characters? Not a lot. The author does a good job of making these characters extreme and sometimes you can love them and others they are hard to like. I did feel sorry for the male lead a teacher me or two as he tries to figure out his life.

I look forward to seeing where this author can go from here with this family.

Regaining Integrity (Code of Honor Book 4) by Brooke May. I love this author and this series so I knew I would love this book. He doesn’t remember her at all and tries to woo her every way he can. Will he be able to break her wall down. Angelica won’t be played again and she won’t fall to his charms as quick as she did in school. Read this amazing book to find out! This can be read as a standalone.

Leaving No Traces (Commissario Scala #5)Leaving No Traces by P. J. Mann
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While Leaving No Traces is book five in the Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome series, it is a stand alone book and you do not need to read the previous books to understand the story. I do recommend reading them, to follow character development and better understand the history of Detective Scala (but again, that is not needed). This time around, Detective Scala is investigating a woman who was having an affair with a married man (while she was also married) and has gone missing. The woman was last seen buying cigarettes at a gas station and all that was left behind was her blood stained car. As the detective digs into the case, he soon realizes there was more to the woman than he originally thought, and more suspects began to surface. Was she trapped in a bad marriage and escaping into another relationship, or did the husband have something to do with it all? Where did she go, and who is to blame? Leave it all to Detective Scala to solve the mystery, but not without many twists and turns along the way!

Leaving No Traces (A Commissario Scala Mystery in Rome) by P.J. Mann – Review by Kirsten Berkebile

It took some time for me to into the story line, to be honest. I felt very lost which is weird because it’s a murder mystery and it shouldn’t be making me feel that way. While I enjoyed characters like Commissionari Scalia, Esposito, and Milani, I think there needs to be new detectives maybe. Don’t get me wrong, the current line up is good I think we could have more, maybe more forensics as well. Overall, the book was good read but left me hanging.

The Guardsman (The Olympic Peninsula series Book 2)The Guardsman by Cat Treadgold
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Guardsman is the second book and heartfelt tale in the The Olympic Peninsula series by Cat. This book follows on from the Woodsman where we met Ali and JJ. Just as the first book was it is an interesting story that will have you falling in love with our MC’s.
Cat’s vivid storytelling brings to life the story of a man whose world literally blown apart. Liam Ryan has been lost and is broken but he is trying to put his life back together again with the help of his sister.
He struggles with his new world and hopes to find what it is that may make him whole again. It certainly isn’t the society princess that he comes face to face with.
With frustrations, sometimes hopelessness, hopes and passion sparks fly in this romantic tale.
Teresa has had her fair share of troubles and isn’t what everyone thinks she is. Looking for a place to lay low she finds more than she was bargaining for.

This well-written romance tale should be a must on your reading list.

I cannot wait to see what Cat brings next in the series.

3.5 stars
A Forever Kind of Thing by Carrie Thomas & Melinda Harris is a YA, NA romance tale. This is the first book that I have read by either of these authors and I wasn’t sure it was something that I wanted to read. It took me a bit to get into the story. High school stories do that, but I wanted to give this story a go.
Being from the wrong side of the tracks she was the target of bullies, intimidation, cruelty that many find themselves in at school. Now she is the one others envy but behind it all is a broken girl with hidden secrets. That is until he walks back into the picture.
There is sadness, betrayal, pain, hurt, angst, tension, heartbreak, heartache, hope, shame and a whole other rollercoaster of emotions that our MC goes through in this story.
It was hard not to feel for our MC and the tumultuous life that she endured. Kids can and are cruel at times. There were times that I just wanted to hug her and later on there were times when I wanted to smack some sense into her.
If you love a rocky road to love YA/NA story, then you will like A Forever Kind of Thing.

My entire life is my music—and all the trappings that come with it. Sex, booze, and rock ’n’ roll is all I ever wanted. Touring the world as the lead singer of Balefire, I have it all. Until on hiatus, I meet the girl next door.

Ashleigh Baker is nothing like the groupies and celebrities who usually have all my attention. In her cute floppy hat with her knees stained with dirt, she spends her days creating a flowering show piece from her rented yard. She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met, and she acts like she doesn’t want a damn thing to do with me. But from the moment I laid eyes on her, she’s all I can think about.

Ashleigh

Growing up the only child of an Air Force Colonel, all I wanted was to stay in one place for more than a minute. When I score a pretty little house with a long-term lease, I just want to grow my flowers and my freelancing gig as a music reviewer. Then a loud Harley wakes me from a sound sleep and I discover my neighbor is Blu Connolly. Yeah, that Blu Connolly, lead singer for my favorite band Balefire. With his killer good looks and panty-melting voice, he’s a walking temptation to sin. Though I do my best to avoid him, it seems Blu has other ideas. He’s on a mission to wear me down, let him in, but what happens when he stops wanting to sing for me?

Joe’s sister Teresa, fleeing a broken engagement and her controlling mother, also comes to stay. Liam mistrusts rich people, but Teresa, the kind of society princess he would normally avoid at all costs, is hard to resist. Especially when she becomes suspiciously accident prone and in need of a protector.

A Forever Kind of Thing by Carrie Thomas and Melinda Harris

♥♥☆ BOOK SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE ☆♥♥
A Forever Kind of Thing by Carrie Thomas and Melinda Harris
Genre – YA, Contemporary Romance
Page Count – 304
Cover Designer – Y’all. That Graphic
BOOKBUB – Coming Soon

Growing up on the proverbial “wrong side of the tracks” gave me a long list of bullies and a short list of friends. I spent most of my childhood days thinking of creative ways to escape the dirty pit that was Palmer, Georgia, until a new kid showed up on the first day of fifth grade and gave me every reason to stay.

But as my rotten luck would have it, he disappeared two years later without a word, leaving me with a million unanswered questions and an irreparable hole in my thirteen year-old heart.

Fast forward to five years post-betrayal, and I’ve gone from Palmer trailer park to Atlanta mansion, secondhand clothes to straight off the runway, and bullies now kiss the ground beneath my Gucci-covered feet.

Reigning supreme at my new prestigious high school, I was counting down the days until graduation when the keeper of all my secrets walked back into my life and threatened to knock this queen right off her throne. What he doesn’t know is that I’ll gladly retire my crown. All he has to do is promise me forever.

Rogue Wolf (Protector Wolf Shifter Series Book #3) by Lilliana Rose – Review by Angela Hayes

Rogue Wolf (Protector Wolf Shifter Series Book 3)Rogue Wolf by Lilliana Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4.5 Stars

Rogue Wolf is the third instalment in the Protector Wolf Shifter Series by Lilliana Rose It is a wonderfully woven protector turned lover urban fantasy with paranormal romance, shifters (wolves), vampires, action, adventure, danger, dramatic developments, chemistry, tension, mystery, emotion, politics, high stakes, agendas, suspense, the supernatural, threats, abduction, and much more.

Each book in this series follows on from one another, so I highly recommend reading the first two books before starting on this instalment so you have all the important details on board that will help you fully appreciate this book, as well as the series as a whole.
Kodiak has sworn to protect Tamaska at all cost, but what happens to her if he’s not there to do so? Now Tamaska is on a mission to rescue Kodiak who has been captured by the vampires. But to do so means she will need to take drastic action- and will need to find someone willing to ‘turn’ her- but there is no guarantee she will survive the transformation. Yelp, you guessed it- things are about to get dangerously complicated. Buckle up for an intriguing read.
Excitedly awaiting ‘Cursed Wolf’ (Book #4)!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Lilliana Rose!
