This is a sweet story that is also educational. Oscar and Emmy are the house cats and they start to see a black cat come up to the door of the house they live in. Oscar and Emmy’s owners start to set out food for Shadow, the new cat. The parents of the home teach their children about house pets vs feral cats and what they need to do. The children learn about Trap-Neuter-Release and then have an opportunity to continue to see Shadow after her procedure.
A great learning tool for youngsters to teach proper pet responsibility.

The Hawke world is one of my favorite worlds. With characters so real and developed, it feels like you can reach out and touch them. You will have a new best friend. Every book has a fresh and complex plot and this one will grab you. Past trauma has Jude’s walls so high no one has climbed them. The story really eclipses how jacked someone’s view of themselves can be. It can be debilitating, and an intimate relationship brings that to the forefront. Satisfying as a forbidden romance and age gap, but also satisfying in the realness of trauma. Loved visiting one of my favorite families! Hope many more to come!

Such a great book for kids of all ages! I know a lot of kids have security blanket or toy and this is a good book to read with them when you’re trying to have them not take it everywhere. I definitely suggest reading it if you notice your child is starting to show symptoms on anxiety, the main character tries some exercises to calm her anxiety that you can try with your kids. The author also mentions grounding methods in the back of the book. I also loved the illustrations and them showing the “Heebie-jeebies.”

First book in the Atlantis series, Vampires of Atlantis by Courtney Davis.
This book is about a mission and when Ian breaks topside he intends to complete that mission that night in hopes to be back home before sunrise, and things take a drastic but thrilling turn.
This storyline is about the course of a week maybe two and projects Ian and his love interests point of views.
This was definitely a gem, I went into this book with no expectations. At first I didn’t know what to think of it until everything started to fall in to place. The character building was there, and the world building was straight cut and to the point which I enjoyed which made getting to the good stuff that much faster.
Courtney Davis did a phenomenal job, she took a paranormal genre with delicate balance and made it more. It wasn’t just a book solely attached to one supernatural/ folklore/ mythic species but multiple which was refreshing.
This paranormal romance will have you breathing rapidly, maybe a little erratic with hair pulling, but also loving every bit of it. I would definitely recommend this book and I look forward to more this author has to offer.

This is the 9th book in The Playmakers Series. This is a sports romance with an element of the couple being opposites that attract. The author does a great job with the characters. At first Wyatt is definately someone I couldn’t like. He was arrogant and thought he was gods gift. He just expected things to go his own way and when they didn’t he looked to other people to fix problems he made. He has got a reputation of being the teams bad boy and that has led him to be dropped from playing the game he loves. He is desperate to find a way back into the coaches good books and to repair his reputation but he needs help. The person who normally has to clean up his mess is Serena who works the PR for the team Wyatt is part of. She is very career focused and what’s to go far in her career. When an incident occurs and Wyatt came to her rescue she knew he would call in a favour at some point, but when he tells her he wants her to rebuild his reputation and get him back on the first team she is shocked and also annoyed as this will take her away from her primary goal of advancing her career. Now she has the challenge which will get all of her PR skills. How does she changes the reputation of the biggest PR nightmare she has ever known? As they start to work together the chemistry starts to sizzle. Both of them have things to learn. As Serena starts to uncover the real Wyatt she sees a side to him she didn’t realise existed. Maybe Wyatt isn’t so bad after all? Wyatt meanwhile is learning how to be a bit more appreciative of his team and teammates. As both of them learn to grow and change can they get what they in both their careers and blossoming relationship or will the pressures of their jobs and the forces that are trying to bring them down succeed in stopping them. This was a really good read. And the character development was amazing. I went from not liking Wyatt at all to find him a strong and protective person who will protect those he cares about. As he realises that things are just about him, I loved how this realisation enabled him to improve his relationships not only with his team mates but with Serena the girl he wants. This story is a slow burn romance and I loved how our main characters grew together and that growth made them more connected and attracted to each other.

Once this author out together an amazing incredible story that I just couldn’t get enough of. I was hooked with this series right from book one and couldn’t out it down till I got thou all 4 of them. I do recommend starting from book one or you might not be able to follow the story line to well and not understand certain parts. This book like the others is filled with adventure, time travel, magic, danger, twist and turns and on the edge of your seat suspense. The history weaved into these tales was so well out and researched that this just made it more interesting. The characters are very well written in all the stories and the story line follows so well together that it made me feel like I was walking along with them on there adventure to find the ring and the conflicts that Ciaran and Aodhan face makes you winder if this will be the end.

Conversations with Tarot: Bewitching Meditations on Reading the Cards by Maria DeBlassie is my third experience reading from this amazing author and she never disappoints me, no matter the topic!
In this particular book, Maria takes us into the mystic world of using tarot, but shows us that there is so much more to tarot than simply understanding the meaning of each card. To really use the cards, you need to have a deeper communication built with each one and in this book we are guided by the author on how she does exactly that. DeBlassie knows how to turn all of her writing into a magical experience for her reader, but in a way that can be easily understood by any person new to the practice. I highly recommend for anyone interested in a different sort of guide to the depths of tarot, but also to experience this author I have come to adore.

5 Stars The Ring of Eagna (The Cross of Ciaran Book 4) by Andrea Matthews
The Ring of Eagna is the fourth book in The Cross of Ciaran Series and is a Paranormal Romance Suspense that will have you turning the pages till the end. I highly recommend reading this series in order as each book plays off the last and you get a better understanding of what has happened and who the characters are. Plus each book is just as good as the last. This one might be my favorite yet. There’s adventure, mystery, danger, action and treasure hunt and so much more. There’s plenty of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat while trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This is a fast paced story Ciaran and Aodhan are on quite the treasure hunt and soon they find put there are others looking for the treasure as well. As things heat up and get more dangerous and intense I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m a huge fan of this author and look forward to reading more from her soon.

Yet again this wonderful author has brought us a captivating storyline with complex characters…I think that’s the word I want… who you may well love to hate at the start, well Wyatt at least lol but who will draw you in to their story and maybe even worm their way into your heart. Wow just wow!! What an amazing start to what I just know will be a fantastic series. It truly is so very much more than I expected from a contemporary sports romance. Beckett and Paige are wonderful characters who go through so much, especially Beckett, but with the hard times comes a lot of personal growth. All the trials and tribulations are so well written by this talented author that you will be hooked from start to finish just like I was. When I first started reading this book I had definite perceived ideas of who these characters were going to be but oh boy was I so wrong because they were so so much more than I could ever have imagined.

Lilly Tames Her Worries is a cute, illustrated children’s book that provides strategies for dealing with anxiety and stressful situations through Lilly’s experiences over the course of the story. Lilly has her favourite toy rabbit that she’s had since she was a baby, and it goes everywhere with her. This aspect of the story brought back many memories of my own children, and now my grandchildren, who had/have their own security blanket toy ‘friends’. Lilly’s is HunBun, the rabbit. So, things take a bit of an anxious turn when, for once, Lilly doesn’t have HunBun with her at school. What happens when the Heebie-Jeebies arrive? What will she do? A great story, but an even better ‘tool’ to use to help teach children to cope with anxiety. Some ‘grounding’ methods are also explained at the end of the story. Beautifully illustrated too. This book was wonderfully written. I loved the back and forth between Matthias and Ava. At times I wanted to strangle him because of his words that he would say to her, and I would feel for Ava and the pain that she felt. They both enjoyed 2 days of bliss while trapped in a snowstorm at his house. But good things must come to an end for these two. After 5 years from being away from each other and trying to forget, Ava has found happiness but then Matthias come crashing back into her world, after coming back to see his father’s last moments. Do they end up together finally, or do they keep going this path and eventually forget each other?!

I have read a few books by this author and i am looking forward to more because i enjoy this author’s writing style. This story follows Summer and Teddy and they were not my favorite couple that i have read by this author. BUT I like the story overall, i just didn’t care for them very much. This is a mafia romance with an edge of intense suspense. The alternating perspective between Priscilla and Riordan is seamless. Riordan’s alpha male persona weakens with his memories of Priscilla as a teenager. Priscilla uses Pasha to be defiant and confident. How well can she wear the mask? Will Riordan help her do her job as an FBI agent? This book is worth reading and will keep readers guessing.

Now that she is nineteen years old, Ava’s father is overprotective and tells her not to leave the house. The snow is starting to fall, and he is driving the King family into the city for holiday shopping. After her father leaves, the power goes out in the house and Ava has no heat. She makes the trek up the hill to the King’s house. Only Mathias and Eleanor, the housekeeper, are home. Eleanor takes Ava’s wet clothes to dry. Ava is sitting in the living room when Mathias confronts her. He tells her to leave in the meanest way he can think of. Hurt, Ava puts her wet clothing back on and rushes out into the blizzard.
Mathias hears Eleanor scream. Ava has fallen into a snowbank head first. Mathias rushes out to bring her back inside. He carries Ava to his room, her ankle is sprained and she can’t put weight on it. After taking her wet clothing, Mathias makes sure Ava has a warm robe, but he still tells her she needs to leave. When she attempts to limp out of his room, Mathias stuns Ava when he kisses her. The start to something growing quickly fills two snow days. However, when Ava’s father takes her home, he decides she is going to leave immediately for her aunt in New Hampshire. Without the chance to say goodbye, Ava is gone. Mathias is crushed and anger fills him.
Cruel King has excellent tension and seeing the point of view from Ava, Mathias, and Theo provides a unique perspective to the story. Ava’s father casts an integral piece into the story and causes strife every step of the way. Can love last 5 years of separation? Did the two days even result in love? This is a 5 star book all the way and I recommend it.

Flowers of Evil is the first book in the new Hani’s daughter mysteries series by N.L. Holmes. It follows Neferet and Bener-ib – two young Egyptian sunets (or physicians) as they try to untangle the mystery of the brutal stabbing of a local florist. It includes a rowdy cast of characters and rival sunu intent on driving our heroines out if business.
I’ve never read any of the original mystery series by Holmes but found this to be a solid read without the context provided there. It was a well-written with many renderings of Ancient Egypt that were both imaginative and shaped by real knowledge of the culture. If you like mysteries and diving into Ancient society then this is definitely for you!

Love Shots is the fourth book in the Bluestone series by Isobel Reed. It is a friends-to-lovers sweet contemporary romance with a small-town setting, a western element, sexy cowboys, opposites attract, emotion, humour, interesting characters, and enough drama, suspense, and angst that ignites real tension in the storyline. Summer had always dreamed of taking over her grandfather’s bar in her hometown. So, when she discovers that he had sold it, she is not impressed. To find that her childhood friend, Teddy, is the new owner- makes her furious. Sparks, and whiskey fly, so things are about to get interesting. What ensues makes for a great read. With a violent ex in the mix too, will danger come into play? Well I’m not giving anything away and ruin it for you- but I will say that the tension and emotion was nicely balanced by some witty banter, with the humorous moments adding an extra element of charm to the story. There was also a nice touch of tender, romantic moments that gave it a heartwarming feel, too. Happy Reading…

Cruel King by K.M. Scott was definitely an emotional ride from the depths of anger and hatred to elation and love. Matthias King is honestly one of the the rudest, unhappiest dudes I’ve ever read about. His demeanor is a little irritating at first because he seems to have literally no redeeming qualities except being attractive. Ava Sutton on the other hand is a sweet as can be and doesn’t understand the hostility from the oldest brother of her best friend. And truly I didn’t either, even after everything. I didn’t understand how everything could have happened so quickly in the two days that it did based on the fact that he seemingly hated her (and basically anyone alive). However, I can appreciate the redemption and maybe a little of his backstory. The story itself was good and I found myself wanting to find out how he wins her over. It was a fast read for me based on that alone. I was truly excited to finish it. I am hoping this turns into a series because I’d love to read about the other King brothers.

Cruel King by K.M. Scott is very angsty enemies-to-lovers romance. I have read a few of Ms. Scott’s books before and really loved her ‘Club X’ series- so when I saw this pop up on my recommended book notifications, I didn’t hesitate and snapped up a copy to dive into. This book twisted me up on so many levels. While it is incredibly well written, and the characters are fully realised individuals with electrifying chemistry that sizzles right off the pages, and their angsty push-pull is palpable- I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I will try to explain why I feel a little tied up in knots over my rating and review of this book. Everything about it is very professional, polished, and well-presented. But going into the book I had high expectations having loved everything else I had read of Ms. Scott’s that I’ve read- so I set off to see what she had in store for us and immediately had doubts that I would be able to ‘like’ our MC, Matthias. He was a real jerk, and treated Ava so terribly that I wanted to slap him on Ava’s behalf- and then shake her silly for putting up with it. But I still held out hope. Then things got more complicated, with a bit of a love triangle thing happening with his brother (her best friend) and I became more dubious, because, to me it felt like cheating- even though technically it wasn’t cheating. But I really felt put off that Ava and Theo got together after she and Mathias had ‘been’ together- I know many years had passed and he was being a jerk, but still, my heart was hurt in the process lol- and I couldn’t help but feel like she’d cheated….and don’t get me started on his ‘marriage’ either. I was torn, because I was rooting for them, and for him to get his act together. I mean, obviously he does in the end, but the frustrating angsty push-pull, drama, and tension goes on for more than three quarters of the story- and by that stage I was quite anxious as to the actual outcome of the story. So, this is why I have been torn about my rating of the book and writing a review. This could/should be a five-star read, but my heart is still a little bruised… Matthias has four hunky brothers, so perhaps this might be the first book in a new series- we will have to wait and see. Wow…….this story was very intense. Drama filled emotional roller coaster, romance, regrets and mistakes, this book had it all. The love/hate relationship I had with Matthias…..I get it….at the end … I get it. I loved Matthias and Ava’s journey by the end..it was just a bit bumpy and at times totally cruel.
Ava lives within the confines of the King estate with her father. Ava is really great friends with all the King boys, except for one…..Matthias. He is the oldest of the King boys and by far his words to her can be cruel and relentless. All Ava wants to understand is why she is hated so much by Matthias. When a bad snowstorm hits….and Ava’s father and Max King are away with some of the King boy, Ava is alone with none other than Matthias. At first, Matthias is ruthless in his words. When he lets a little of his guard down, he is taken by Ava and just how much he loves being with her…….but that is displeasing to her father when he arrives home and she is sent away…leaving Matthias hurt and with so many questions…
Years down the road, Matthias is cruel and heartless as ever….his father’s pressures of being the first son taking over the family business……….Matthias must travel back home for family affairs and he runs into Ava again. Matthias is relentless as ever, belittling Ava and just his words are gut punching. Will Matthias and Ava ever know what truths are out there when they continually hurt each other in ways that are unimaginable, especially getting answers from years past…….
This story was just emotional…..and just hard to put down. The love of Matthias and Ava……. my heart and what they had to go through…

I can not get enough of this series; I could not read it fast enough. Once again, this book had me from the first page, ok let’s be honesty it had me from book one. Once again, this story continues from the book before, and highly suggest starting from book one. This series will have you hooked form the beginning. It’s filled with history, crossed timelines, romance, adventure, suspense, mystery, excitement, and everything else in between. Once again, the story was so well written that I couldn’t put it down it made me feel like I was traveling with them and taking every single step with them. the adventure with Ciaran and Caitlin and the building of knowing Aodhan, Niamh make you kind of feel like your there with them. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait to read the next one to know the rest of this incredible story.

This is the first book in the series. This story had me on a whirlwind of emotions going through the pages. Ava and Matthias’ story is full of climbs and drops and heartfelt emotion. You won’t want to put it down. And you will not be able to contain your excitement waiting for the next in the series.

This book is a cute coming to age story for young boys. It tells you the story of Russell and the challenges he faces as a ten year old boy in fifth grade. He begins getting bullied and in this time his life is falling apart but will his grandfather’s gift help him? It was a sweet book that gives the perfect outcome that keeps you entertained.

I absolutely loved everything about this book!! I have two kids, 7 and 11, and they both adored this book. The author writes Lilly in such a relatable way that we all saw ourselves in her. She has an emotional support stuffy, as most kiddos do, and forgets it on the way to school. I love that she found such supportive people in her life to help her name her emotions and teach her how to breathe when she gets the heebie jeebie feelings. I think this is a marvelous book for teaching kids of all ages the basics of calming your nervous system because they’re going to run into those situations and it’s helpful to have tools already prepared! I highly recommend picking this book up and sharing with everyone that you love in your life!
Sweet Lilly smells an awful smell one day. She soon realizes that it’s her favorite bunny rabbit that goes everywhere with her. When her sister grabs her attention and they need to run out the door to catch the bus, Lilly realizes that HunnyBunny is not with her. She panics and isn’t quite sure what to do. School is hard that day because she isn’t feeling well. The school nurse teaches her about her amygdala and ways to calm herself down using the square breathing method. As other situations present throughtout the day, Lilly is able to build on her newfound strength and confidence to help her survive these other situations.
This is a super cute book that has excellent ideas for youngsters (and us older folk too!) in dealing with stress and anxiety. It would be a great book to have in any library and to share with those you love!

I’ve read a few of Isobel Ree and always enjoyed them. This book is not at all my favorite though. I was just not a fan of the story of Summer and Teddy. It had good structures and everything I just could not get into this one. I did finish it just so much like the ones before it I guess. I do absolutely still recommend it to anyone who loves the falling in love stories with drama and stepping stones.

Love Shots is another great addition to the Bluestone series and is possibly one of my favorites but I honestly have really enjoyed them all. In this installment you will get Summer, a beautiful blonde, who is, or feels like she is a walking hot mess, who doesn’t deserve a good thing in this world, and Teddy, a retired Navy seal, who retired from the Navy after becoming a POW, who is desperate to prove to Summer that she deserves the world, and then some. Summer and Teddy both have been in love with each other since childhood, but the other felt misunderstood, and like the feelings weren’t reciprocated. These characters seem so real with real life issues and problems, and Isobel Reeds writing makes them really come to life. I went from laughing to hanging on to the edge of my seat, white knuckling my kindle, to teary eyed, and back again. Love Shots contains some subject matter that could be triggering to some readers, and was spicy, but not explicit. Although the characters are connected in each book they can also be read as stand alone novels. As long as Isobel Reed is writing these novels I will be continuing to pick them up.

I really wish I had this book when my daughter was younger. It would’ve helped her so much. This book will be such a great help to any child who gets worried a lot. I would recommend it to any parent whose child has a favorite toy that gives them comfort and they have a hard time dealing with anxiety.
This was a really cute book! Lilly is a little girl who sometimes worries, but her stuffed bunny tends to help her deal with them. Well, what happens when you forget that buffer? Lilly forgets her bunny when she goes to school and starts to worry. Throughout the book a handful of people help her in different ways to handle her worries with breathing, naming her worries, etc. By the end, she feels good about having many ways to get rid of and handle her worries. I thought this was a great lesson for young individuals. I work in the psychology field and the number one problem I see today is that people were never taught coping mechanisms. A lack of coping mechanisms leads to this uptrend in anxiety. Learning them from a young age really helps the development process of people.
