I have yet to read a book by Brooke May that I did not just outright laugh while reading. This book is no exception to the rule. I was so excited to get my hands on this as soon as I saw the teasers. Scorching Hot Mess is an easy read with lots of aspects to it that almost anyone who loves to laugh could read this and find it absolutely enjoyable. I really loved our MC, Willow Everett. She is the definition of a hot mess lol. I found this catchy and relatable because this is often a phrase I use to describe my kiddos or myself lol. Someone is always having a hot mess kind of day in our house. I loved how this book read so fast as well even at a full length novel. I got to devour it on a sunny afternoon and it could not have been the more perfect read to lift my spirits. If you love witty rom coms and strong characters with some fun twists this is the book for you! I am excited to see what we will get next from Brooke May!

Scorching Hit Mess by Brooke May is an entertaining rom com you don’t want to miss. This wasn’t the first book I’ve read by this author but definitely tops my list of favorites from her.

Willow just wants what her brother and her best friend have but in order to have that, she has to get through some duds first. This is the story about how Willow found her match.

This book was so entertaining to read. Willow has quite the disastrous dating life but Brenda won’t let her give up. The characters are so relatable as is Willow’s dating experience. I couldn’t put this book down once I started. I wanted to tell that everything Willow was looking for was right in front of her but honestly her journey was worth the read!

This is a Romantic Comedy novel and is 435 pages. This story follows Willow, the hot mess. One night she gets drunk and ends up with four different phone numbers and not a very good memory of what happened that night. Willow’s friend convinces her to dump her lazy boyfriend and go on the search for her “forever”. Willow has a history of wrong guys, until she meets Gun. Instant sparks, but then she learns about Sophie. This story has the perfect amount of romance, comedy, and drama. I think my favorite was the pet blind raccoon – hilarious!

I really enjoyed this romance. I loved the lead character Willow. She is a independent young woman who knows what she wants and doesn’t want. Her attitude comes through the book and I love how funny she is.

Willows love life has been one disaster after another. After a night out when she gets very drunk she ends up with the details for 4 guys. Is one of them her Prince Charming?

One bad date leads to another and Willow starts to lose hope. But she meets Gun at the fire station and the attraction to him is so strong. Who is Gun? Is he taken or single?

With the help and advice from her best friend and brother this is a rollercoaster of laughter and tears as Willow finds her way through life.

Scorching Hot Mess by Brooke May is an entertaining story about a woman on a mission to find her match. This whole book has such a fun feel to it and I thought that Willow was such an entertaining character. Her and her friend combined really made me chuckle. I enjoyed reading about her and Gun. They seemed to have such a connection from the start that just felt real and engaging. It made you want to read more about them. This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author and I like the fact that I always know I am going to get a well written story when I read one of her books. This was a great read and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Scorching Hot Mess by Brooke May a fun five-star read. This author always makes me smile as I read their work, and this was no different. I so enjoyed this story, Willow reminded me so much of someone I know, and she knows I think she is a hot mess. Watching her as she goes on her journey made me laugh so hard at times I snorted. There are so many great characters but Willow was the one for me.

Scorching Hot Mess was without a doubt one of the funniest stories I have read in a long time. Brooke May just captured the very essence of a thrilling and captivating read. I was enamoured by Willow and Gun. She was absolutely hilarious and her match was meat with Gun. The charismatic and enigmatic personalities were impossible to ignore, and was totally invested in them pursuing their happily ever after. Excitement was always at the turn of the page. Drama was never far behind. All that a reader could ever want at the tips of all page turning fingers. Willow and Gun were a couple that were meant to be. And the thrills and spills along the way just made their story that much more entertaining. Alcohol and raging hormones are never a good combination, but the level of passion and compatibility was electric. 4 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It was a great rom com read and one that I would highly recommend. I loved Willow, she was such a relatable character, the author really made her feel believable. There were a few laugh out loud moments between her and Gun, they had a nice amount of chemistry and attraction.
The flow of the story was really good, it made it so easy to read. Overall a fantastic read and I can’t wait to read more from Ms May again in the future.

This was a lighthearted and fun romantic comedy with a realistic and lovable main character, Willow and I could not put the book down. It has plenty of romance and comedy, and a little bit of drama and suspense to keep the storyline exciting. It’s a wonderfully written heartwarming story with some real laugh out loud moments. Willow Everett only has flash backs of her drunken night and four wrinkled up napkins that all have phone numbers on them. With her best friends encouragement Willow dumps her lazy boyfriend and goes on a journey to find ‘her forever’. Unfortunately just when she thinks she has found this in the kind, funny and handsome Gun she learns about Sophie. Not wanting to be ‘that type of women’ Sophie tries to ignore the attraction between them but this only gets harder each time they meet. The obvious chemistry between Willow and Gun really comes across in the narrative and I loved the interactions between the two of them. The storyline flowed well and the plot had enough twists in it to keep me happily turning the pages. An enjoyable and engaging read.

I was concerned about this book as it is out of realm of my normal genres. Also, I wasn’t familiar with the author as I haven’t read any of her previous books. However, I will say that after reading this book I am going to check out some of her other books because that’s how much I enjoyed reading this one. I must say that I found this to be a very well written romantic story. The characters were very relatable I thought and while filled with their romantic journey there was quite a bit of drama mixed in as well. I found myself laughing out loud at a lot of the mess that she has managed to get herself into that makes her a “hot mess”. In fact, there were some instances that made me think back to several of my friends during their college years. This was a quick read for me because I found myself turning the pages to get to the end of the story. I was intrigued from the first chapter to see where and what was going to happen with this train wreck, and I wasn’t disappointed. It was a wild but fun ride.

Scorching Hot Mess by Brooke May is a rom com and flowed well from start to end. Brooke brings her loveable, quirky, and realistic characters to life. They are believable and you become invested in them. This story has a little bit of everything in it, from drama and fun, sarcasm and drunken nights, to holly hotness and lazy boyfriends, to frustration and love and of devil besties. Brooke is really good at writing rom com and always makes me laugh out loud and getting funny looks on the bus.

Willow Everett is definitely a hot mess. She is also sassy and bold, funny, and feisty and after one drunken night her life is about to change.

I enjoy Brooke’s writing and haven’t read anything I have not liked from her. I mean who doesn’t like a blind racoon as a pet?

This is a well written story that has characters that bring the story to life and romance to a new level. They are engaging and relatable. They kept me turning pages to the end. This is a story about Willow and the journey she is about to take. She has let feelings stand in her way of happiness until now. What will happen when Gunn walks into her life? She is determined not to let her guard down for him but will she change her mind? They have great chemistry and made such a cute couple. I enjoyed watching the growth between them which made the story fun to read. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Taking Flight (Code of Honor Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Karyn Taylor

Taking FlightTaking Flight by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taking Flight is the 2nd book in the Code of Honor series by Brooke May. Although part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. I had previously read the first book in this series and a couple of other books by the author so I had expectations of enjoying this book and I’m glad to say that I enjoyed it very much.
Jody Meadows is the twin sister of country sensation Jilly Meadows and has lived I her shadows all of her life, always coming second to her sister. Now she’s had enough of being Jilly’s doormat and is looking for a way out. That way out comes in the form of airman Holt Preston who happens to be stationed in Germany when Jilly is on tour there.
I really loved this story. I adored Jody and wanted to slap her twin sister Jilly on so many occasions. I honestly think that Jody must have the patience of a saint to put up with her theatrics. I also adored Holt. He’s sweet and charming and also rather hot! I love how he wanted the best for Jody and fought for her to better herself.
I was hooked on this story from the very first page and was gripped to the story throughout, right up to the very end. I definitely recommend Taking Flight.

After reading book 1 with Aiko, I was very excited to delve into Faida’s story. We get a glimpse of her in the first book and I loved seeing the development in her character. While I did enjoy Aiko’s story more, Fairda’s perspective of cupid was interesting to read. Additionally, the short rom-com flowed well and highlights a different look at love that would make your heart flutter.

Faida is the second book in the Heartstrings Series by Brooke May. This is a short Paranormal Romance that I absolutely loved reading. I literally read in one afternoon I had to know what was going to happen. I loved Faida and even though she has had some things happen to her to cause her to have a icy she may have just met her match with Robert. He’s got an ex that did him wrong and he pretty much swore off love. His only love is for his daughter Alice. I absolutely loved Alice. Can Faida help Robert find his love? I highly recommend reading this heart-warming book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next. I highly recommend reading this whole series if you haven’t started already.

Faida (Heartstrings #2) by Brooke May

This is the second book of May’s that I’ve read. Fadia is part of the Heartstrings Series, but they are standalones. May can write and she knows how to do it well.

Fadia is a Cupid and helps Cupid with his work. Akio is her sister and she isn’t sure why there is a celebration when Akio matched a couple. A new job makes her see how things are. The quote I chose for Fadia is: “Hi, I’m Faida. Like Alice said, I’m her new nanny. I’m new to town actually.”

Robert is a single dad and cold hearted. He doesn’t let his guard down unless it’s to his daughter. He does want a relationship, but doesn’t know how. The quote I chose for Robert is: “Faida, I can’t deal with this right now. My VP is coming and I have a meeting to prepare for. Just … leave.”

Mika works for Robert and has been a good friend of his since his divorce. She likes working with him and she does like him. The quote I chose for Mika is: “I’ve never wanted to go anywhere. I’m happy with where I’m at and what I do. Robert is a great boss and I get raises when it is fair. I don’t get bored and Robert values my opinion. I worked for one other man before him and that man treated me horribly. Robert is nothing like the icy man most think he is.”

Highly recommended for Paranormal Romance lovers.

Faida is book 2 in the heartstrings series. The books have much of the same characters in them but do not have to be read in order. Faida is one of Cupid’s angels sent out to find love for people. Faida’s newest quest is not that easy. Robert’s heart is closed off to all except Alice, his sweet young daughter.
Faida had her own heart made of ice so she has ways to get through to Robert and help him find a suitable match. This was a quick read for me but doesn’t mean I liked it any less. Another great book by this author with a easy to follow story and I look forward to more by this author.

Another book by Brooke May that pulled at my heartstrings. It’s been a while since a paranormal romance series has kept my attention but this sweet and funny romance is doing the trick. This was a sweet, fun, and original book. This is the second book in this series and can be read as a standalone but it is my suggestion that you read the first one for the best experience and because it’s a great book. We met Faida in the first book and in this one we get to know more about her. Faida is trying to help Robert get past his icy heart and open it up for love again. I also really liked Alice, her character was cute and at the same time she was wise beyond her years. I read this story in one sitting because I didn’t want to put it down. Faida (Heartstrings Book 2) by Brooke May. This is the second book in this series and it’s just as good as the first. In the first book we are introduced to Faida who is one of six beings that helps Cupid to mortals and their love life. Faida has had her heart broken so many times and been let down so many times that she no longer believes in the love she helps Cupid find for people. When she meets Ice King Robert Peters who has also been let down multiple times in love, Faida has met her match. When she tries to help Robert find love she is going to have to change her way of thinking to make it work. Robert has made it very clear he only loves one person and that is his daughter and nothing will change his mind. When Faida tells him he’s stuck with her until he finds love he’s not super excited. This story will make you laugh out loud and root for the underdog. Read Faida to find out if Robert finds true love.

Faida be Brooke May is the second book in the Heartstrings series. This is a great continuation of her series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Although I found this was a pretty quick book to read I was fully drawn into the story from the start. I really enjoyed the characters and the connection between them. They both seemed so jaded at first and I loved how you saw them develop as the story went on.
The book itself was a great story. The authors has created a sweet but fun story that you will find hard to put down once you start reading. It was wasn’t to read this book in one sitting, although I wish I could have made myself draw it out a little longer. Brooke May has done a brilliant job with this book and I would definitely recommend it.

FaidaFaida by Brooke May

The second in the ‘Heartstrings’ series introduces us to Faida, one of the six beings who help Cupid guide us mortals to love. Faida has grown jaded after eons of helping humans find love and as a result now has an ice cold heart. “Assassinations, infidelity, and betrayals of her past haunt her present”. However, Faida meets her match in ice king Robert Peters who has also been disappointed in love. Robert is cold and ruthless with everyone except his young daughter. Faida needs to soften her own heart towards love if she is to help Robert find love. This is an engaging and enjoyable sweet paranormal romance and the author really brings the characters and setting to life with her descriptive narrative. It’s a lighthearted and heartwarming romantic story which had me fully immersed in the story from start to finish. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone story but some of the characters do overlap. I look forward to the next book in the series.
