Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

I enjoy a story that centers around far and humans living together. Makes you want to believe in fairytales. The story centers around Logan and Brigit. Logan is a human with some secrets of his own. Brigit is a fae who ran away just looking for a place to lay her head. The author built a world were fae and humans live together. A world built on a balance system. I really liked getting to know Brigit. Her life was really interesting and sad. Logan lacked too much for me to really get into him. I do understand the reason why but it doesn’t stop me from rolling my eyes. I enjoyed the plot and the characters growth. The story did drag but it’s worth the read. There are some funny moments that had me face palming. Overall I really couldn’t find a reason not to read the book. Fae are interesting creatures that keep you on your toes. The author had a nice flow while writing this story. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Life is full of surprises and this story holds many.

Never Date a Siren: A College Fae magic series #1
by Byrd Nash

This story kept me captivated with wonderful characters and an original plot. We are introduced to different kinds of fae and things they can do. There are different dynamics going on in this book and it keeps this story intriguing and kept me reading. The more I read the more I found myself liking Brigit and her bondmates. I think there is more to Logan than meets the eye and I hope to learn more about all these characters in the next book in this series. I cannot wait to read what’s in store for us in the next book. This was a very well written, original and magical read. I recommend this book, it is a great start to the series.

Never Date A Siren: A College Fae Magic Series #1 by Byrd Nash is a wonderful Young Adult fantasy and my first read from this talented storyteller. I love a good fantasy, so the title intrigued me as soon as I saw it. It is full of paranormal beings, college life, humour, a little drama, debts, bonds, challenges, honour, lessons, magic- and is a light-hearted and charming coming of age story.
By a twist of fate, Logan and Brigit become roommates. Brigit is a Fae (Dryad), and Logan a human exchange student attending the Fae university- one where both human and fae are allowed to enrol. Though not at the academy long, Logan has already fallen under the fatal spell of a cold-hearted siren. His world has been turned upside down, his grades are suffering, his life and place at the University are under threat.
Brigit keeps her head down and tries to stay off the radar. She’s definitely the mysterious one. But another twist of fate has her indebted to Logan, and through her strong sense of honour and the Fae Laws of Civility she sets about ensuring her debt is paid- by breaking the siren’s spell that is slowly draining Logan. And so, the adventure begins. Throw in a host of paranormal creatures/beings, different realms, sneaky tricks, secrets, lessons, wonderful characters, and an intriguing storyline- and this story really takes off.
Byrd Nash has world building down to a fine art- creating a intricate world that springs from her imagination and comes to life upon the pages. The attention to detail in the world building is just superb- from fae customs, laws, history, clothing, speech, and all the many other finer points- nothing gets overlooked here- all blending together into a smooth, seamless and vivid image.
This is a fantastic way to start off a new series. I am definitely invested in the characters and I can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next book!
A fun read!!!

Thank you, Byrd Nash!

Never Date a SirenNever Date a Siren by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Never Date a Siren is a very apt title, as this book demonstrates throughout its entirety why you should never date a siren. I really enjoyed reading this book, it had a great plot and storyline. I feel like the events could have been a little more detailed and explained, while also on a clearer timeline. It makes more sense at the end, but in the beginning it was a little confusing, as the events seemed sporadically placed. I have no idea if there was a series or a set I was supposed to read before this one, but overall it was a good, entertaining story once the events caught up and became distinguished. I am intrigued to read the next in the series, and also can’t wait to read more from Byrd Nash.

Oh, what a wonderful collection of stories this book, The Wicked Wolves of Windsor and Other Fairytales, by Byrd Nash is. New stories but they feel so familiar. Easy to read, morals with a twist and they just feel good. Been a long time since I’ve read fairy tales, but these were so good. The Prince Learns A Lesson was my favorite. Think I am going to try a few of these out on my grands. I loved these stories, you will too!

Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash was a wonderful fantastical read. I enjoyed the world that was built and the mesh between fae and human. I adored Brigit as the main female lead. She was such a “wow” character with a unique perspective. I loved Brigit as being out guide through understanding the fae world and their expectations, it was a great way to build the world and introduce the reader to the implications of what is happening. Logan was a good character read, I found it interesting that the victim was the male lead but again it was a welcome change. I cannot wait to see what the author creates next in this series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Wicked Wolves of Windsor by Byrd Nash is a collection of fantasy fairy tales with a modern twist but are as dark as the Grimm brother’s tales. Each of the six stories are very short and different from the others. Whilst each story is unique there is the underlying theme of the old classics within. In each there is a strong female protagonist definitely no shrinking violets to be seen. The stories are set in different times and locations that range from modern to medieval giving each different flavour.

If you love your fairy tales and a little magic Byrd’s Wicked Wolves will hit just the right spot.

This is a great collection of short fairytale stories where the heroes are the females in the stories. There is a little bit of everything in this book from talking animals to castles. You will find a favorite among them for sure. The author’s attention to detail made me feel as if I was in the ballrooms and castles with the characters. The characters are a little different but they are engaging and make the stories what they are. My favorite thing about this book is how the females in the stories are the heros are the ones saving themselves and others. They are strong women and you don’t always see that in stories. I highly recommend this collection, you won’t regret picking it up, I didn’t.

I have always had a niche for books about the Fae and especially when it has them mixing in with our modern reality, and ‘Never Date A Siren’ Was no exception. I absolutely adored this, and especially the twist when it came to Logan, I about died of excitement. I love Brigit and all the detail that Byrd Nash puts in of all the different septs of the Fae. I look forward to seeing so much more from Byrd and this series. I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy, humor, college life, a little bit of drama, and some amazing twists.

A powerful debut book by Byrd Nash featuring six reimagined fairytales with an old-fashioned feel but suitable for the modern reader.

A short story collection which reads like an old-fashioned book of fairy tales, but with a modern twist.

Never Date a Siren is the first book in the College Fae series by Byrd Nash. This is my first book by this author and it will not be my last. Nash has created a world of Fae that will make you feel like you are apart of that world. Her characters are complex and could very well be part of your world. In this story Bridget is a Fae and is very bull headed and Logan, who is human not sure what is going on due to his magical abilities that he did not know he had. I found myself so engrossed in the story that I could not put it down. I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the next book. Thank you Byrd Nash for this new series.

I have never had the pleasure of reading anything penned by Bryd Nash prior to picking up this book, Never Date a Siren, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into other than what I learned from the eye catching cover. I am glad that I took a gamble and dove right in. I think we have a new series that I can’t wait to read as it unfolds.

Never Date a Siren is the first book in the College Fae series so a great place to start obviously. This book sets us up for the series and gives us a bunch of info about our main characters Brigit and Logan. Brigit is entering her first year of college at the beautiful sounding Leopold Otto University. I loved the way this school was brought to life and how you felt as if you were right there and experiencing it first hand. I loved the action and adventure that comes as an unexpected twist to keep you on your toes. Of course there are going to be some fun and fascinating magical elements to keep you well enthralled as well. I won’t go into the details of the storyline so that you can discover them on your own unspoiled. I can’t wait to see what book two will bring us, and can only hope that it is soon that we find out!

Sirens are trouble. They trick you to loving them, leave you and then syphon the energy out of you all the while keeping you in their thrall. Sad right? Logan had no idea what he was getting into when he met his girlfriend Sybil the Siren. She has moved on from him and now he is feeling less like himself and stuck…until his chance run in with Brigit, dryad Fae, and she owns him for saving her. Can she get Sybil to release him from her clutches? Sybil doesn’t want to release the human and holds on tight. This journey takes them around the world and we meet all kinds of fun characters.

This is very imaginative. I liked it and the characters were intriguing. The monsters under the bed and in the closets as well as the kelpies and Brigit’s amazing talent of talking to everything were interesting. The door mat was neat! I liked the brownies too.

5-Stars

Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash was an exciting first addition to this series. Logan is placed under a Siren’s spell at the start of his freshman year of college. Brigit is also a freshman who is needing a new place to stay and happens to find that Logan has a spare room. The two become mixed up in a mess and she is set on freeing him from the Siren’s spell. This story was fascinating and mystical. I loved the different septs and type of fae in each. The storyline was also easy to follow and magical. The scenery was descriptive and easy to visualize. I cannot wait to read the next book. I loved this novel and could bot set it down. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more from this author.

The story Never Date a Siren (College Fae Book 1) by Byrd Nash is a fantasy book that I loved reading. It tells the tale of Logan Dannon and Brigit. Logan is a college student who finds out the hard way about the mythical creatures that attend the same college as he does. He finds himself having to navigate the fae’s code of honor to survive. Brigit is a fae. She finds herself with Logan, a human roommate in which she has been placed under a fairy debt. She finds herself helping to undo another fae’s love spell. Will she be successful? Will Logan be able to pass the semester? What does the future hold for Logan and Brigit? Read this book to find out. The author does an amazing job in world-building. You are fully immersed in the world of the fae and how they interact with other mythical creatures as well as humans. This is a book that once I started couldn’t put down until I had finished the final page. I found myself rooting for Brigit and Logan to be successful. This is a story that I would recommend reading.
