Repair (Rescue Me Book 1) by Trish Williford – Review by Carrie Reed

Great romance, short read, engaging story. I absolutely love Charlie and Trent together, it is so sweet that she has been in love with him for years and they both find their way back together. The circumstances under which she flees to go back to her hometown to try again with Trent suck, but I am glad they only took up a small fraction of the book, it shows how irrelevant her ex Aiden is! Trent is so sweet and it proves that he is the man that Charlie should be with, the things he did in her absence, because of her, melted my heart. This book wouldn’t be as great as it was without at little drama, so that was a nice little twist that made me love and appreciate their relationship even more. My favorite thing about this book is the names Charlie and her brother’s cal each other, that had me smiling. I can’t wait to see what happens next, I am assuming it is Jude!

“Be a friend to those you meet who might be different from you. You’ll find many things in common with new friends, pure and true!”

The illustrations are beautifully done and draw in the eye. The story is short and sweet and will draw you in, worried for Jake and the new found mysterious prints in the woods. The new friend he makes is a sweet representation that not all animals look a certain way, and same with any human friend you may meet. This book teaches us not to judge a book by its cover and it’s what is inside that counts the most, but that even though someone or something may have a disability of some sort in our eyes, it might be what makes them stronger.

I love where this series is going! I would definitely read these books in order, as you would be missing out on many details that I think are needed to understand the story. Elysium honestly sounds like a fun time, well once Vanessa can get some color back into it. I think its sweet she gets to reconnect with some family members that have already gone, and meet new family she didn’t know she had. Grey is a big tool and doesn’t treat her the best ones they get to Elysium but Vanessa, with her sweet and amazing self can change that. I am still concerned for her and Raef’s relationship and wondering when Aroz will come into play. I can’t wait until the next book to see what kind of drama comes next. I have a feeling we are going to see Grey’s mother, who sounds like a total B word, come in and try to ruin everything.

I love that this series is not based solely on romance, but that there is action and drama. It sucks to see the brothers all still fighting their father, he is seriously deranged! My heart broke in the beginning to learn how Ellie and Sam were both feeling about life, but seriously awesome twist that Sam happens to call Ellie’s phone instead of his brothers and a bond forms between them. I liked watching Sam and Ellie dealing with and surviving in Jamison’s home and being basically held prisoner. The bond between the brothers, even though they haven’t known each other long is beautiful. Watching Ellie and Sam fight their inner demons and come together is sweet. At the end we get a glimpse of the next story which is involving Lazarus, fantastic name, and I have been most excited to read his story!

Favorite book in the whole series so far! I absolutely am in love with the story of Niran and Saffie. In the second book, it is really nice to see all of the MC chapters banding together and reconnecting to save one of their own. I am in love with Niran and how he will never give up on Saffie even though at one point I really thought she would never be able to love or trust another biker again. I can’t stand his sister Can and I really hope I don’ have to see anymore of her, I can sympathize with her situation but, she is a liar, selfish, backstabbing and childish. Also in this book we revisit life with Duke and the MC he is a part of and it is really sick that Saffie had to endure what she did and how she was treated. It is very fun and engaging to see that each chapter is from a different point of view, and in this book we get to see Saffie, Niran and Grumbler’s viewpoints. I can’t get enough of this couple, I am sad their story has come to a close, but I am happy with how we got there. I really can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

Obsessed! I am really into MM romance right now and this book definitely filled my needs for a sweet romance. Bailey is so cute, anyone would be lucky to have him, and Sam is the sweetest for being as patient as he is with him. He is just so romantic and swoon worthy. Even though there is an age gap, both of them feel like the other would have someone better than themselves or will find someone better. All of their interactions are sweet, sexy and I can’t get enough. Following along with the other guys Sam employs at the Pleasure Palace as well as some stragglers that always seem to hang around is a fun ride. I really hope to see more books in this series, I would love to see how Sam and Bailey are doing now and of course how Ry and Cade are making out, or Dominic and Zander. I look forward to more from this author!

A Cold Day In Hell (Life Is Hell Book 5) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Carrie Reed

A Cold Day in Hell (Life is Hell #5)A Cold Day in Hell by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

YES!! The 5th book in the Life is Hell series is just as epic as the others. This book is all about Jezebel who was saved by Malakhi, and Hadassah who is Malakhi’s sister. I really love Hadassah and Jezebel’s relationship, they grow closer when Hadassah follows Jezebel as she leaves, thinking that she is putting everyone in danger. At first Hadassah doesn’t want to get along with anyone let alone be stuck on earth but she figures that Jezebel would be the least risky option. I like the introduction of Devland, it was crazy that Jezebel would be dreaming certain things and then later on they would come to light. There are some nice little curves in here in regards to Devland and his relationship with Jezebel that had me worried. Seeing the relationships from the previous books still going strong and beautifully had me smiling. I really love this author and the writing style. I look forward to what comes next!

I enjoyed this short steamy read. I love that Poppy was a sweet, cute, nerd and her neighbor Turner was totally into that type. She was so lovely and naive, thinking that she wouldn’t really be anyone’s type but little does she know that Turner has been wanting her for weeks. The misunderstanding at the bbq shows how truly introverted she is, and Turner is so sweet to not give up on her. I look forward to what comes next.

Excellent book! I really enjoyed this book and became completely lost in the story. My heart shattered for Sam, losing her husband and son which left her all alone, it seemed like her family really didn’t care. I was really hoping her son Thomas’s girlfriend, Velvet, got the punishment she deserved, if she was the one who killed her son. But it seems as though Thomas was not living the best life he could have been living. I loved watching Sam reconnect with some of Thomas’s old friends, them helping her in all ways possible and Micah asking her to join his group. I was intrigued to watch her form bonds with the 3 others in the group as well as Micah. I felt like maybe there was romantic feels on Micah’s part for Sam, I would really like to see a second book following along with the groups missions and lives. I really look forward to reading more from this author.

This author has really outdone herself with this one! I am obsessed, addicted, I can’t get enough of this story! As a heads up this book will leave your hanging, but have no worries, the next installment will be coming soon. Saffie and Niran’s story is defiantly my top favorite right now. I try not to be annoyed with Saffie knowing all she has been through, but poor Niran has been pounding into her head over and over that he just wants to help. I can understand why she is hesitant, she doesn’t know all that I know about Niran and his MC. Niran and Saffie’s relationship is slow to build up, and mostly we get to learn a lot about Saffie’s previous life with the old MC she was with and Niran as well. I have a bad feeling that Can, Niran’s half sister is shady as hell and is going to cause a lot of damage. In this end of this book my heart is just broken, and I’m dying to see what happens next!

I love the way this author writes, the stories all have romance but added in is the element of crime against the main characters and a mystery that needs to be uncovered. Isabel and Matt are a sweet couple, I love that Matt becomes so protective and in love with her as quickly as he does, especially with the way they first meet. Throughout the book Matt tries to uncover who is behind the plot to kill his new wife, along with Matt, we as the reader are trying to figure that out ourselves. There were so many times I thought I knew who it was but was fooled until the end. I really enjoy period romances and with little twists and turns along the way, it keeps the book more exciting and me engaged. I look forward to more from this author.

Fun paranormal read. I really enjoyed this book, the characters were easy to fall in love with and the story was interesting. There are many different connections between the different characters and the author introduced the connections seamlessly, everything flowed so nicely. I don’t know how I would feel if I were Cassie, living in 1974, then after being put under a spell wake up 45 years later. It is nice that she finds Nick and their connection is cemented and their relationship starts to bloom. The reason why Cassie shows up the year she does after being “asleep” for so many years is a nice twist to the story. It seems she is there to help Nick solve the reason why his Grandma and mother have gone, and then with the way his brother Evan played a role in everything, I was completely lost in the story. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters and their adventure.

Such a sweet kids book, I really enjoyed the pictures and the message that was being conveyed. The art is beautiful and I like how its not the same style all throughout, it gives my eyes more to look at. The message the book gives off is that we need to help our world and the animals that live in it by being cleaner, such as recycling, not using plastic, cleaning up after yourself and not leaving trash laying around outside. It is heartbreaking to know that animals are going extinct and if these small changes in our lifestyle could help prevent that then I think it’s a wonderful lesson to teach our kids and has really opened my eyes as well!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another excellent read from this author. This book can be read as a stand alone but, I would highly recommend the full, destination series, they are all amazing in their own way. I really enjoy a story set in a different country than my own, reading about Venice, Italy really has me wanting to go. The way the author writes is so fun, this story was a romance between Gianna and Sergio but also romances of the past. The stories were intertwined nicely and I really liked Gianna, and the fact that she lands a job in painting restoration in Venice, it sounds like a dream come true. Watching her relationship with Sergio grow is everything and the mystery that involves the two of them makes the book that much more interesting. I really enjoy when a book has another element an is not just strictly romance. I am loving this series so far and can’t wait to see what is in store next.

I did not read the first book and I didn’t feel as if I was missing too much information, but I wish I would have read it first. The second book is easy to follow along and I was quick to get pulled into the story. Kaysee is a badass vampire, everyone in her group seems to like her and feel they wouldn’t really be together if it weren’t for her. Her husband Dominic, from the way he acts to how the others describe him, seems like a really douche bag. It seems he can’t functionally rule over his people any longer but is stubborn and won’t take help from a woman, his wife. The fact that Kaysee has been faithful to him for all the years they have been together hurts me when I found out of Dominics infidelities, especially since he lies every time that he won’t do it again. When he comes face to face with his maker, Claudia, again, nothing good comes of this meeting and Kaysee is in the dark about what goes down between the two. I hope when she finds out she leaves him for good, and I hope in the next book to see Claudia taken down. I highly recommend for any paranormal romance lover! Bring on the next book!

Tally and the Angel (Book One)Tally and the Angel by Eleanor Dixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

Absolutely loved this book! Reading the synopsis and seeing the cover I wasn’t too sure if it was going to be my style, but from the first chapter I was immediately drawn into this story. I was sad to see little Tally lose her mom at a young age, but she is a strong girl and goes off on the start of an adventure with her dad. Their first stop is India, everything, every place, every person was described so nicely, the picture in my head was so vivid. I was happy to see Tally befriend Balvan, and excited to see where their friendship would go in terms of adventures together. The magic of the pendant Tally’s mom passed down to her along with the Angel Jophiel that inhabits the necklace is such a fun addition to the story and watching their relationship grow and discovering the powers Jophiel holds and how they can help Tally is so cool. I would really recommend this to any child or young adult to read, or anyone really, it is a very fun and interesting to read. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Excellent! I need the next book now! The story is something new and different that I haven’t seen before. Sweet Vanessa is beautiful inside and out and is like an angel on earth, so to know she is struggling trying to fight for her brother’s condition, and seeing all she has to put up with at her job just hurts my heart. I’m in love with Raef, he fell in love so hard, so fast and will do anything for Vanessa, Grey on the other hand, knows he feels something for Vanessa but doesn’t really show it on the outside except in the form of small instances where he protected her in his own way. Vanessa makes a decision that she thinks is the best option but did not discuss it with her mom or Raef, and the way they both reacted made my heart melt. I seriously can’t wait for the next book to see what happens in Vanessa’s journey and to see what will come of her relationship with the boys.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this book very much. Sometimes I felt a little confused, but for the most part I was able to follow along. I felt a very strong sadness throughout this whole book. Andy, was not granted a great childhood growing up, I did see flickers of fun here and there with her and Danny but for the most part it seemed like she wasn’t really acknowledged by her alcoholic mess of a mother. I think when she found Alana and Kenshi, things started looking up for her, it seemed she had a purpose, and then when she lost the both of them, she seemed to be coasting again. Throughout this journey with Andy, we meet many people that she was introduced to, see many deaths she has to cope with and how her life turned out as an adult. The magical element added to the story made it much more interesting At some points I thought this book may be a little too deep for me, but as I kept reading, I became more and more entranced in the writing style. I would definitely recommend giving this book a read.

I loved this book! Period romances are always a gamble for me, some I can get into and some fall short, this book was definitely a win. I liked the fact that this story was not only romance and steamy moments, there was betrayal, plotting of murder, evil family members and a spy. Philip loves Emily, even though he doesn’t admit it readily, the way he acts towards her, anyone can tell. But the way he acts towards her.. sometimes I wish Emily would tell him off, but that would not be appropriate for the times. Annalise is a nasty mess, and throughout the whole book I was wishing she would get slapped, but I guess her fate was worse since she was in a way abandoned, or what I would qualify as abandoned when she is found out. Emily is a sweetheart and handled everything so perfectly, I hate that she had to put up with Annalise and sometimes her husband’s actions and words. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store next.

What a fun read! At first I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get into the story, but I quickly became engrossed in this book and reading quickly to find out what would happen next. I really enjoyed all of the characters, especially that of Luella. She is a brave, smart and adventurous girl. I love the fact that she has some sort of special power if you will, and can sense things, and that she is from a fantastical world called Storey. I never really understood who the men were that were trying to get her, but the fact that she evaded them for so long was amazing and shows her skill set and that she listened when her gramps was giving her all his many lessons and advice. When she meets Wren and Robin on her adventure to find her Gramps and Storey, I kind of had a feeling that these girls were somehow connected to her in some way. I really enjoyed this author’s writing style and the flow of the book. I look forward to see what comes next.

Yes! Loved this book! I really enjoyed that the story is written in British English, such a fun little add on. Zoe and Damien are awesome together, their chemistry is off the charts. This is one of the only times I actually liked both the male and female in the relationship, not one over the other. All of the misunderstandings and heart aching moments are what I live for in a romance book. When Zoe thinks that her and Damien are over and the moments leading up to it had me reading so fast! Im glad Zoe finally got what she always wanted, the epilogue left out some good info, or what I am assuming to be good info. The storyline was excellent, the characters all awesome and easy to love, I hope there is a second book because I really want to see what happens with Zoe’s brother Tyler!

This book was different but I liked it. I didn’t think I was going to be able to get into the story but I sure did. Tillie kind of annoyed me, it seems like she is in the wrong line of work, everyone seems to dislike her for all of the mess ups she has caused, and her partner Abdul doesn’t seem to care to defend her. I did enjoy their romantic relationship though, Abdul is very much in love with her, so I wish she would just hurry up and take the next step with him. This author did an amazing job with describing how the Hucows looked, it all seemed so real. The story was very unique, original and fantastical and I really enjoyed reading Tillie and Abdul’s quest to save Lady Annabelle per the Queen’s orders, and Lady Annabelle is a whole other can of worms. All the characters were very well written and easy to relate to. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I love this book! The story completely drew me in from the beginning, and I fell in love with all the characters. Jacob was super annoying, I was getting really mad for poor Madison, and the fact that he goes against pack law not once but twice is also slightly concerning. Zach and Emily are the sweetest together, but the way Zach treats Emily towards the end when the big bomb was dropped had me angry. I can understand why he would be upset but it is always better to talk things out instead of walking away and avoiding it. It also seem as the end he gets all up in his feelings and might make the worst decision he could regarding his and Emily’s future relationship. I was more invested in Jacob and Madison’s relationship than the others but still want to know what will happen. I can not wait until the next book comes out, I need to know what happens!

This might be my favorite story yet! I would definitely read these books in order, especially with this book there are many characters that you will want to know about and understand. I love Lark, he is my top favorite character from the series so far, his pranks and spirit are so beautiful. I am so happy that him and Jaru got together and could build on the friendship they already had. Watching their relationship develop as well as Lark getting a surprise he didn’t think he would ever have for himself was so sweet. The way Soren loves Lark too just makes me so happy. This author is so creative and amazing with the storylines and characters, I can’t get enough. The relationship between Oren, Teviel and Jaru and then the relationship between Jaru, Lark and Soren, seems a bit complex, but it all works and is so beautiful. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

The issue of the stalker, the fact that Gwen is his sisters childhood friend, Throttle is her childhood crush, Gwen working at the club’s restaurant, so many things all converge to bring these two together. This book is filled with drama, action, danger, romance and some unexpected twists and turns along the way. I already knew this book was going to be good when we see that Tyler and Malina both work together, and she is trying to keep her crush under wraps. That kind of thing can never stay hidden. Wow! Loved this book, the story was short and sweet. I wish I could see more of this couple, and what the future held for them, but by the ending I’m thinking it would be nothing but love and beauty. I was really hurting with Emmy when there were a couple of misunderstandings with Stone and other ladies, and he gets upset by them but I understand her, he is a man whore and she is reluctant to trust him to be with one woman. It is so sweet to see him do a complete turn around when faced with raising a baby, it melted my heart and made me happy to see him want a forever kind of love finally after al the years of playing around. Even though the story was short, all of the info that needed to be there was there and I enjoyed meeting all the characters. I look forward to what is next from this author.

WOW! What an awesome read! I could not put this book down. I didn’t know if Daisy was going to make it through this year in high school. The bullying she suffers would be too much for anyone and the fact that nobody in her family could recognize that she was hurting really made my heart lurch. I was very grateful to see the love and support she had within her family and friends groups and was hoping to see a little more happen with Griffin but I was satisfied with what we got. I would highly recommend this book for all young adults. Even though this is just a book, these scenarios are real and happen to teenagers all around. It would be nice for all youth to see how bullying of any kind could effect someone and what they can turn to, to make themselves feel better, or how they discipline theirselves because of it. I did not catch the other books in the series, this book can be read as a stand alone.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!
Excellent! Loyalty & Lies is the 6th book in the Spicetopia series and it really amazes me that there is still so much more that can be made with these books, so many more stories to tell. Calvin and Paisley are so sweet together. I love that Calvin is so obsessed and in love with his wife, even when the 2 beautiful women, or the evil nasties as I like to think of them, are all over him, in the back of his mind he doesn’t want to do anything without his wife’s consent, and without her being there really. I was sad to learn of Beau’s roll in everything, it seemed like him and Paisley really got along and that he was a genuinely nice guy. I was sad for Paisley, being pregnant, on a beautiful island in a fun resort and amusement park and having no body to share it with, at one point I thought she was going to throw in the towel and go home, but she can’t bring herself to leave because she knows something is really wrong. The outcome was sweet and I really enjoyed this adventure, I also loved seeing the previous characters coming around. Bring on the next one!

Nice short read. This story was nice, I was excited to see Cassie, a student and Diego, a professor starting a flirtation. Cassie started getting on my nerves unfortunately, basically begging Diego to make it work, but then again Diego wasn’t much better lying to Cassie. The lie was sweet though, he was only trying to protect her. The ending came up fast and I was pleased with how everything turned out for them both. The only downside, everything seemed to move a little too fast for me, but still a worthy read.
