Say When by Bree Kraemer (Cedarville #9) – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

Say When (A Cedarville Novel Book 9)Say When by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Say When is the ninth (yes, ninth!) instalment of the truly wonderful Cedarville series. One again, we are transported to the beautiful lakeside setting which has become so familiar to fans of this series. This instalment does not disappoint, as were introduced to a new couple that immediately grabbed my heart. This is one read not to be missed!

I have to start this review by admitting that I am a superfan of this series. I absolutely love the world that the author has created and it holds a very dear place in my heart. So as soon as a new book is released, I am immediately anticipating finding the time to sit and really enjoy it. Cue a nice cup of team, some chocolate cookies and a cosy blanket; time to read!

Say When had me hooked after the very first page. Immediately jumping into the wonderful world of baking had my mouth-watering; luckily I had the cookies! Dani is such an endearing character and I felt myself warming to her straight away. I love her innocence, which I think makes her such a strong character and so interesting to read. She has a lot of fears and learning about these over the course of the story allowed us to see why her and Patrick have such an intense connection. As for Patrick… what a cutie! He is such an equally interesting character who I couldn’t wait to find out more about. We learn about him more slowly than Dani, with the main focus of the story being her getting over her fears, but that just makes him so much more intriguing; who doesn’t love a mysterious man?! Seeing them together is so much fun and, let’s be honest, super hot. There are some steamy moments in this book, which are sure to get you feeling a little hot. All I’ll say is, lucky Dani!

I don’t think I will ever stop loving this series or this author’s work. Every single book in this series is beautifully written, packed with wonderful characters and has an intriguing and exciting plot. Ultimately, this series is about love and the connection that develops between two people, and Say When perfectly portrays this. If you haven’t already, I cannot encourage you enough to start reading this series. By the time you get to Dani and Patrick’s story, you’ll be as hooked as I am!

Capturing Us (Cedarville #2)Capturing Us by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Melanie has loved Logan for a long time but never told him if anything lately she’s been extra cranky towards him to try and push him away. Every time she see him her body can’t help but react to him she wants him bad but shes just not sure how to approach him, Melanie is normally in control of things and straight to the point but with Logan she not as confident at first. When Logan gets a offer to work away again on assignment with his photography that give Melanie the push she needs to tell him how she really feels but things don’t go to plan. Ever since Mel was attacked Logan realised there was more to them friendship it shocked the hell out of him to think all this time they could have been more but deep down he knows he wouldn’t of been ready especially considering he would have been away a lot with work so then wouldn’t of been the right time. Logan has been thinking recently that he no longer wants to travel but when what he originally has planned goes through he decide to do one more assignment away but hes in a complete shock when he finds out just before he’s leaving that Mel has had feelings for him for all this time not sure what to do with all this new information he still goes hoping that Mel won’t hate him to much when he gets back. Will Melanie forgive Logan? Will they get together? Do they get there happy ever after…….
I loved Melanie’s and logans story it was amazing the connection they have between them was beautiful and seeing feelings come light was wonderful to read plus the characters themselves have awesome personalities I felt I could really connect with them. The story had you right from the beginning had such a lovely flow to it. I have loved the Cedarville series so far you can read them as standalone but they ate better to read as a series so you don’t miss out on history with the characters amazing.

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville, #1) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Moriah Venable

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1)An Unexpected Home by Bree Kraemer

An Unexpected Home is the first novel in the Cedarville series by Bree Kraemer. This is my first novel by this author.

Leah Gibson, 28 year old accountant, moves to Cedarville, Ohio to help her friends Carly and Mel run their dance studio. After a little hesitation, Leah decides to start life anew to get away from the press and media after the betrayal of her father and uncle.

‘Home, she realized, was not just a place you slept or kept your things. It was more than that. It was a place that you felt comfortable and wanted. Even loved.’

When she arrives she meets Brandon who is not only Carly’s 33 year old cousin but also the local acting police chief after the former police chief had a heart attack and he was next in line. There is an instant attraction between the two but of course the two try to deny it.

The night Leah comes to town there is a break in and Brandon tries not to sound accusing when someone says they saw Leah’s car pass by during the time of the break in. Leah feels like she is being questioned because of her past, but answers the questions anyway.

The next day she goes to see him but leaves when she starts having a panic attack and leaves. She comes back to apologize and explains that she wants to sleep with him but Brandon refuses because he likes her and wants more than just that.

When an expected visitor comes into town, will they ruin the growing relationship?

While initially hesitant, I really enjoyed this story. The novel is told from alternative third person perspectives of Leah and Brandon.

Brandon is one of those types of guys who dates but wants nothing serious and the women he sees know that. But the moment he lays eyes on Leah, he likes her and wants more. He doesn’t like being called ‘boss’ or ‘sir’ but it protective of those he cares about.

“I will say this . I have women that I can go to when I want sex and they know that it is just sex. But I don’t sleep around.”“Why can’t I be one of those women?” He heard the words and he knew what she was asking but for some reason it made him angry. “You just can’t,” he said and turned putting his back to her so he could go sit back down.”

I love stories where people are starting over and making a new life for themselves.

Of course the path getting there, isn’t easy. But it’s great and makes me hopeful, when reading.

Leah and Brandon I felt had amazing chemistry, making the novel more fun to read.

With great romance, suspense and characters one can relate to, it’s a novel you don’t wanna put down.

I can’t wait for the next novel.

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

An Unexpected Home (Cedarville #1)An Unexpected Home by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An Unexpected Home is the first book in the Cedarville series by Bree Kraemer. Written in third person, each chapter alternates between the story’s main characters, Leah and Brandon, giving the reader a well-developed and in-depth novel.

The story follows Leah as she moves in with her best friends, Carly and Melanie, to start her new life in Cedarville. Leaving behind her traumatic past is what Leah hopes to do, after her father and uncle’s lies destroyed her life in New York.; trying to convince people that she didn’t know they were stealing their client’s money is proving to be impossible. What Leah didn’t expect to find in Cedarville was Brandon, especially not half-naked and answering the door of her new home. Unable to deny her attraction toward him, Leah makes a bold move, only to be shot down. Realising what a mistake he had made, Brandon seeks out Leah and quickly the two form an intense bond. But their relationship is threatened by someone from Leah’s past; someone who is set on getting revenge. And the timing couldn’t be worse. Leah, Carly and Melanie are getting ready for the opening of their dance school, while her friends are having their own battles with boys. Cedarville felt like Leah’s perfect home, but are Brandon and her friends enough to keep her safe from her past?

Leah and Brandon have so much chemistry, which is evident from their first meeting. Although their relationship is intense and moves really fast, they are so perfect together and I loved that they got together so soon. This allows us to see more of their relationship, how it develops over the course of the story and how strong their bond is when they are faced with difficult situations. The friendship between Leah, Carly and Melanie is one all girls dream of, and reading their interactions was so much fun. Leah has to rely on them for support during her dramatic ordeal, but they are struggling with their own problems in their personal and professional life.

This book covers a variety of different issues, but all are executed really well. From the serious ones, to the more fun, Bree Kraemer has created a really coherent and enjoyable story. I loved the time that was spent on creating such wonderful relationships between the characters, and any reader would struggle not to find themselves completely involved in their lives. Knowing there will be more in this series stops me from being upset that this one is over! This was my first read of Bree Kraemer’s work, but it definitely won’t be my last.
