Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology – Review by Katie Matthews

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first saw this anthology I was intrigued, I love these adult retellings of fairy tales so I was looking forward to that but for all of them to be of Red Riding Hood I wasn’t so sure but I have to say they were all great reads! I can’t believe they are all based on the same story but every single on is different! When I looked down the list of authors who feature in the anthology I was excited to see one of my favourites, Autumn Sand, along with some I have read books by and some who were new to me!

Ruby by Autumn Sand
In this author’s true style I was hooked into the story straight away – it was romantic, sensual – everything I would expect from her! I really liked Ruby, her character came alive as the author did an amazing job with her characters visualisation – I felt like I was right there at times in the story. I was in awe of Ruby at times, she had so much going in her life both health wise and in relationship but she had a strength that I admired. This was probably my favourite story out of the anthology.

Cloaked by Lia Fairchild
I love Ms Fairchild’s work so I was excited to see how she would retell Red Riding Hood. I loved the romance/thriller genre for this story and it was a really exciting read! The characters were well thought out and I really enjoyed the story. It was fast paced and thrilling. There were some good twists and turns with Vanessa (Eva) and Luke! This was definitely a favourite of mine in the anthology.

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You never really think that classic tale can be made even better by having a retelling, but these 12 incredible authors have done exactly that!

They have brought us along on numerous different unique journeys with different characters and captivating storylines for each! Each of these brings us a different genre whether that’s romance, fantasy, paranormal & erotica but no matter what you can be guaranteed that you will not put this read down!
I love reading anthology’s they really help you experience different authors writing in one place but I always find that one or two reads that always stays with me the most and in this case its an author I am familiar with, Autumn Sand, and a new author Lia Fairchild both of these authors have created a brilliant read that was captivating and had me hooked from the very beginning, both of these reads were different one was filled with danger, suspense and romance, and the other had romance, second chances and me feeling all emotional. I couldn’t compare them together but one thing I do know is that each had me hooked and not wanting it to end!

I loved reading this anthology and can’t recommend it enough! I can’t wait to experience these authors writing again! I highly recommend this read, you won’t want to miss it!

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology is a collection of unique very short stories that is their adult adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood with a little twist by 12 very talented authors:

Ruby by Autumn Sand is sensual and romantic and temptation at its finest. Autumn knows her stuff as usual.

Finding Red by Natalie-Nicole Bates is a little bit of a thriller where one girl tries to hide her identity but is always found by the bad step father and evil mother. Can she finally find a safe haven.

Cloaked by Lia Fairchild is part romance and part thriller, and will keep you on your toes.

The Wolves Den by Laci Page is hot and takes you into the world of BDSM. Ooooh la la.

Falling For The Hood: A Fairy Tale Retold by Amy Allen where the hot and sexy enemy is more than he seems and turns out to be so much more.

Redd’s Wolves by D.A. Stein is a reverse harem with one innocent girl living with her Granny and three sexy wolf shifters.

Little Red’s: A Red Riding Hood Short Story by Darlene Tallman is where a girl finds out her sexy new boss is a wolf shifter and mates are for life.

River Runs Red by Kay Elle Parker is steamy and mysterious as she learns that she has been duped by her mother and must learn who she is all over again. It ended before I was ready.

Magic of Merlot by Lorah Jaiyn is a thriller where karma decides to take those who mean harm and along the way two souls find each other.

Redbourne by Natalia Schellhaas is a bit of a sad tale as falsehoods and lies and prejudices cause death and trouble.

Brother Wolfe by Ceecee Elaine is a bit on the dark side as a sister becomes her brother’s latest victim.

Waking Red by Jess Bagnall is thriller and again a bit on the sad side.

Each one is cleverly written and shaped by their imagination to give each a modern twist that will leave you wanting more as they include paranormal and fantasy, erotica and romance, BDSM and reverse harem, and so much more. Trust me the pages will keep turning as you get a taste for these sexy, stimulating and tempting snacks. I have found myself some new authors, I liked their stories so much.

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology – Review by Lisa Helmick

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a nice collection of stories. They are fun because they all have a common theme running through them. They have genres from horror to erotica and others in between. Some of these were enjoyable. A few of them seemed a bit short and I wasn’t a big fan of the insta-love.

Little Red’s by Darlene Tallman was a favorite. Wolf packs are a story i enjoy and this one filled that void. The characters were believable and the story cute.

Cloaked by Lia Fairchild really drew me in and was very inventive. I liked the characters and enjoyed the twists and turns. I really could have read this one over again.

A few others were Ruby by Autumn Sand and River Runs Red by Kay Elle Parker. I liked them…they were pretty sexy. I just wish there was more to each of them.

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) a five-star read that would have you going into the woods. This is a fabulous selection of short stories by different authors, all telling their own version of Little Red Riding Hood, each story has a different take, some do different genres and some just turn it its head. This is filled with compelling stories and I loved them all, but I have to say Autumn Sand puled it out of the bag, maybe its just my personal circumstances right now, but that one touched me close. Another two that I really felt deserve special mention as they both either told a great story, or just had that extra special something and they were Cloaked by Lia Fairchild and Amy Allen. Well done all on these amazing stories.

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology – Review by Jonell Collins

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology is a book packed with steamy little short stories. Who knew there were so many ways to retell a favorite fairy tale. Memorable is the story called Ruby by Autumn Sand. Our heroine shares the heart ache of breast cancer and divorce. It’s a steamy little story for sure but Ruby shares with us through her story the difficult task of coming to terms with what we think about ourselves.
I think my favorite story of them all was Cloaked by Lia Fairchild. Fairly tame, without all the hot and steamy. What I think I liked best about it was it reminded me more of Romeo and Juliet, just without the senseless tragedy. I came away from that little story with a real good feeling.

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) is a fantastic collection of stories from twelve talented authors who each weave their own version of the classic fairytale “Little Red Riding Hood”. As such, each story is quite individual to the author, having their own unique take on the theme, and creating their own identity, mood and tone within the collection. There is so much to love about this anthology, from being based on a favourite classic- the authors also give us so many genres to enjoy: everything from romance, erotica, BDSM, reverse harem, fantasy, paranormal, psychological, post -apocalyptic, and even a little horror- just to keep things interesting. There is definitely something here to suit everyone. So, do yourself a favour, grab a copy and dive in.
The stories and authors are:

Ruby By: Autumn Sand
Finding Red By: Natalie-Nicole Bates
Cloaked By: Lia Fairchild
The Wolves Den By: Laci Page
Falling For The Hood: A Fairy Tale Retold By: Amy Allen
Redd’s Wolves By: D.A Stein
Little Red’s: A Red Riding Hood Short Story By: Darlene Tallman
River Runs Red By: Kay Elle Parker
Magic of Merlot By: Lorah Jaiyn
Redbourne By: Natalia Schellhaas
Brother Wolfe By: Ceecee Elaine
Waking Red By: Jess Bagnall

The book and stories pulled me in right from the beginning and kept me entertained the whole way through. I kept turning the pages to discover what new situation, genre and characters I would discover next. There were so many varied characters in this anthology- from a cancer survivor, to various shifters, MC bikers, hunters, an actress, Witches, and a wildlife officer, just to name a few.
Some of these authors I know and love, while others are ‘new to me’- which is exciting to find more books and authors to add to my TBR.
If you love the classic “Red Riding Hood” and enjoy a variety of genres and some really well written stories with interesting characters- then this is definitely the book for you!

Thank you to all the contributing authors!

I give Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology, 5 stars.

This is a such a great anthology! Most of the authors were new to me, however I did recognize a few that I have read before. I was oh so pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed each and every one of them. Of course, I did have some that I like more than others, but that goes for any anthology really. Another huge plus, the variety. Even books in the same genre were different from each other. To me, that makes a fantastic book even better. The only thing each of them had in common was the theme.

The stories are well written and so entertaining — they are obviously written by some wonderful authors. If you like fairytales but want something more adult and different, I highly recommend this collection.

This story was great for anyone who has a physical or emotional problem because it gives the hope that love is possible. Autumn Sand wrote a lovely story and she has a bright future. I look forward to reading more.
The other stories in this anthology are good as well. Some of them are not for the faint of heart. Read and enjoy

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology

I love fairytales! The interesting thing about this anthology is that the authors wrote about Little Red Riding Hood but put their own twists on the story. Each is a love story varying from tame to XXX. There is something for everyone.

Ruby – Autumn Sand

I loved this story! Ruby lost a part of herself and then her husband left her. Her self confidence was at an all time low then Mr. Wolf came into her life and made her feel whole again. The author did an excellent job of expressing how Ruby felt. I went through a range of emotions as if I went through it myself.

Cloaked – Lia Fairchild

This story was a little more cloak and dagger. After Eva’s parents were murdered, she stayed under the radar for years searching for her grandfather. Tracking him down put her life in danger. She meets Luke and the chemistry is instantaneous. Can Luke be her saviour or will he be her downfall? The story is filled with danger, drama and love.

The Wolves Den – Laci Page

This was another favorite of mine. This story was so hot, it was sizzling. You step into the world of BDSM. Marissa likes things a little kinky and her friend sets her up on a blind date. It’s a costume/ BDSM party. She’s not sure until she meets her drool worth date. Dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and armed with her safeword, Marissa is ready. What happens next is the sexiest, mind blowing, orgasmic experience of her life. A must read!

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Red Riding HoodRed Riding Hood by Autumn Sand
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) is a multi-genre anthology with stories which are either from the romance, erotica and BDSM, fantasy and paranormal romance or horror genre by 12 different favourite authors. Each short story is a retelling of Red Riding Hood, as has never been told before!
I particularly liked the first story in the book, Ruby by Autumn Sand, in this romance story Ruby who is currently in the middle of finalising her divorce to her younger husband who has run off with a women who is more his age and who is pregnant meets the ‘Wolf of Europe’. Count Edric Moreau of Paris, is a notorious handsome ‘rake’ known to seduce wealthy men’s wife’s but has also taken over as chairman of an important organisation and Ruby is tasked with interviewing him for Vogue. Still recovering from breast cancer, chemotherapy and a mastectomy whilst waiting for reconstructive surgery, Ruby is feeling bruised and low in self esteem and so she is keeping it strictly professional but Edric has more romantic plans in mind. I loved this story, which had great characters and a lovely storyline.
The other story which stood out was by Lia Fairchild, Cloaked. Also a romance which features Eva Chacon, however she is calling herself Vanessa as she is working in Oakdale, a senior living facility and is looking for her grandfather who is also going by a different name. Whilst at the facility she meets Luke and the two date although Vanessa remains suspicious as per her Aunt Nora’s teachings. We learn that Vanessa is in fact part of a known crime family and is living undercover as she is at risk from a rival family. This is a fast paced story which is part romance and part thriller, sadly Luke is also not who he appears to be and it leads to a dramatic conclusion, but do Eva and Luke end up together, no spoilers!
Other stories which stood out were Darlene Tallman’s fantasy and paranormal story, Little Red’s where a young girl meets her sexy new boss but after a violent encounter at a bar brawl she soon learns that wolf shifters are very real and that ‘mates’ are for life. D.A.Stein’s, Redd’s wolves is an exciting reverse harem retelling of Little Red Riding Hood featuring an innocent girl living with her Granny in the woods, three sexy wolf shifters and a motorcycle gang, all of which kept me turning the pages.
I enjoyed this anthology of short stories as each one was very different making this an exciting book as a whole. Each story although short was packed full of great characters, adventure, and interesting plot lines. I have been introduced to new authors and enjoyed stories from ones I already love, I recommend this book as a good read.

Red Riding Hood (Down the rabbit hole) Anthology this book is made up of stories from 12 different authors. Book read- Ruby by Autumn Sands this is a 3.5 star read.
Ruby is a writer and six years ago married the love of her life, a man who was 20 years younger than her. Now Ruby has fought breast cancer and won, she is now waiting on reconstruction, but her marriage is heading for divorce, her husband has left her for another woman who is pregnant with his child.
Count Eric Moreau has recently lost his father and his brother so instead of living his life the way he planned he is now head of Moreau International. He also has the nickname the Wolf of Europe because of his reputation.
These two people meet and although there shouldn’t be anything there there is a connection. This was a short story it had a great ending but I wished it was longer.

What a great collection of stories all retelling the story of Red Riding Hood.

One of my favourites is by Autumn Sand. Her story follows a woman called Ruby who finds out her husband is leaving her for another woman while she is battling cancer.

With her husband gone she feels worthless and unattractive after having surgery to remove her breasts but how wrong she is.

Someone has their eyes on her and will stop at nothing to get her. With big eyes and big teeth the Wolf for Europe is ready to devour her and bring her back to life

5-Stars

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) Anthology was amazing. There was a short story for every reader. I loved the variety and also that it was a different twist on the idea of Red Riding Hood. I had a difficult time picking my favorite story. Several O enjoyed included Cloaked by Lia Fairchild, Ruby by Autumn Sand, and Redd’s Wolves by D. A. Stein. Each story had amazing and interesting characters. I found it easy to relate to the main character Vanessa/Eva in Cloaked since I have worked in a similar setting she was in. This book was a wonderful collection and I can definitely see myself rereading several of these stories. I highly recommend it.

I was so stinking excited when this book started to trickle its way into my news-feed. I am a sucker for the classic stories that we have loved from childhood getting new spins with an adult twist or two. I have such a hard time telling myself no and usually end up buying these types of novels without knowing any details other than the premise of fairy tales re imagined. This anthology did not disappoint and I have a feeling this will be one I find myself rereading several times in the future. I loved that as much as I knew some awesome authors featured like Autumn Sand, but I also got to meet some new ones to follow. I will keep the review simple with a little bit about Autumn Sands Ruby.

Ruby by Autumn Sand:
This book was just as fabulous as I had hoped that it would be and more. We get the retelling of sorts of Red Riding Hood. This book will keep you enthralled and hooked with the romance and sensuality that is heavily laced throughout. I was completely enthralled to see what would happen with her and the tempestuous man she stumbles across.

The rest of the included authors that I at least want to mention their names for now are…
Amy Allen, CeeCee Elaine, DA Stein, Darlene Tallman, Jess Bagnall, Kay Elle Parker, Laci Page, Lia Fairchild, and Lorah Jaiyn.

I absolutely can guarantee if it is a classic/fairy tale reimagining I will likely snatch it up to add to my library. And I couldn’t wait to get this anthology in my hands.

I’m so thankful I did and enjoyed every single page. One of my favorites from the pack was the story from Autumn Sand. Just a fantastic, complex reimagining of a classic character and storyline.

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole)

A collection of 12 Authors retelling of Red Riding Hood. I will list a couple of my favourite short story’s for this collection:

Ruby by Autumn Sand. Ruby is a writer and this story starts as she is dealt devastating news. We then jump forward a couple of years and things are still looking very bleak for Ruby. She’s asked to interview Count Edric Moreau of Paris, France, also know as The Wolf Of Europe, his reputation precedes him. Edric makes Ruby believe in herself again, something she’s not been able to do for a very long time. Mrs Sands wrote these two characters perfectly they draw you in and leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed reading this story.

River Runs Red by Kay Elle Parker. Daughter of a Huntress. Offspring of a wolf. Armed with a red cape, a wicker basket, and a knife, River must make it through the wolf-riddled forest…but not everything is as it seems, and trusting the wrong people could get her into trouble. Having left her fathers pack 13 years ago, vowing never to return, River has to visit her dying paternal Grandmother. I read this story in no time at all, the pages just kept flowing I was gripped from the start and wish there was more to this story. Such a good read. Thank you.

Red Riding Hood (Down The Rabbit Hole) is an anthology by a selection of brilliant authors. They have written a collection of amazing stories, all different versions of a well known classic.
This is the first time I have ever read a collection like this – effectively the same story told in multiple different ways. I honestly didn’t expect to like it at all, there are only so many times you can read the same story after-all. And yet each of these books were so unique that I enjoyed every single one of them.
I had read most of these authors before but it was nice to discover a couple of new ones. I very much enjoyed this anthology and can’t wait to read more of their individual works.

I truly enjoyed these stories which are based on Red Riding Hood. They pull you in and I found myself not wanting the put them down. I love anthologies as I have a chance to read stories by authors I am familiar with, but also new authors as well. Some stories are steamy and others romantic. They didn’t disappoint and I would recommend reading this anthology. There is one story that I found myself falling in love not only with the story but the characters as well. It is:

Ruby
Autumn Sand
5 out of 5 stars

I absolutely loved reading this version of Red Riding Hood. The story is romantic and sensual. It is a story that had me hooked from the first chapter to the last. I loved the character of Ruby. She is a woman who is dealing with a lot in her life. Will the man that she meets help her? Read the story to find out. The story is about temptation, seduction, and looking inside yourself. I found that the story ended far too soon, and I wanted to know what the future holds for Ruby. The author has done an amazing job of making you feel like you are right there with the character. This story is a favorite of mine in this anthology
