Francie Roubideaux is from the Bayou where she spends her days catching frogs in the swamps and helping her mother see dresses by night. She has no idea why this woman had come to fetch her but it can’t be good.

Rose Donovan is desperate to leave her small hometown and finds her escape by leaving a handsome stranger. Her father and friends tried to warn her but she was smitten. When they arrive in California her talents are sold by her now husband to the owner of The Mansfield. She soon realizes the truth of how things will be now that the rose colored glasses have come off.

Beau Heartwell has it all with a good job, a loving wife and a perfect record as an up and coming lawyer. When his best friend is framed for a murder he sees stuff that makes him questioning things he had believed in over the last decade. He winds up finding himself with no job, wife or home. He makes his way to California to start fresh with a little help from friends and a new job with Express Investigation Team.

All these strangers end up crossing paths at The Mansfield and things turn tragic. I’m looking forward to seeing how things transpired and how each of these characters were involved.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I felt that it was well written. The story will keep you guessing until the end and it definitely keeps you on your toes. Daniel O’Halleran is fed up with how things are being brushed aside by the police in New York City for the sake of quict arrests. After being left at the alter he decides to start anew in Patchogue. When he is asked by the local librarian to look into a case that happened there 2 years prior he finds it was the first case he had ever worked on. When another murder happens practically in his back yard he feels as of the two are somehow connected. Will he be able to find a connection or will he be the next victim?

I loved the story of Austin & Casey. Austin is heartbroken when the woman he loves, Mavis, chooses his brother and they become engaged. He has the chance to make partner at his law firm and has the opportunity to head up the newest team in Chicago. Casey is Mavis’ best friend and former roommate who is smitten with Austin. Things however become kind of twisted when the opportunity Austin had been hoping for lands in his lap. He has to choose between building his life in Chicago or going back to LA to pursue his dreams. Which will he choose and will it be the right decision? At first I thought it was good for Mavis to find her happiness, however as the book went on I began to dislike her. It seemed like she didn’t want Austin to be happy especially if it was with her best friend. She was marrying his brother but seemed jealous at just about every turn with the budding romance between Austin and Casey. I feel the author did a good job bringing these characters to life for the readers. I’m looking forward to the next installment of this series.

A fast paced novella that will have you turning the pages to see what happens next. These lovers are doomed to repeat their tragic end in every life that they live. How far would someone be willing to go for revenge? When I first looked to see how many pages/chapters were in this I thought I had read it wrong. I don’t feel like anything was missed in the telling of why these incidents happened and the author did a great job in that aspect. At the end I found myself wishing there were more pages to read though!

This was a great read. I find myself finding more military romances in my kindle as the days go by and I’m not sorry. While Tanner “Diesel” Taylor is waiting to get his next mission orders he goes to a masquerade party. Pippa too finds herself there after her friends talked her into going. She figures that there is little to no chance of seeing her ex and even if he did show up her face would be covered. Neither Tanner nor Pippa planned on having a steamy night and her leaving with his child growing in her belly. When her ex finds out she had another man’s child he is out for blood. Pippa along with her son have been kidnapped. She doesn’t expect that anyone will be looking for them, but little does she know Tanner is on the case. Will he be able to find them before something horrible happens?

Evelyn has just gotten out of a relationship that lasted longer than it should have. She isn’t looking to date at the moment, especially not her sexy-as-sin office partner. When the line is crossed and they end up spending one night together it has them both questioning whether or not there can be more. Eve is usually not the type of woman Devlin goes for but there is something about her that has him wanting more. One night wasn’t enough for either of them, but neither is willing to admit it. Eve is of the mind that it was a one time thing that will definitely never be happening again because he will get tired of chasing her soon enough. After all he is a womanizer isn’t he? Can Devlin convince her that what they had was more than one night?

First off I absolutely loved the Mafia Elite Series. I’m not a huge fan of prequels, but I like to give them a chance just to see how an author merges the past and present. This was a very quick read, but it gave a lot of insight into the women we came to know who loved and married these men in the five families. We get to see what these ladies were going through the night one of their good friends and roommates was murdered. These ladies endured a lot as we found from the Mafia Elite Series but we get to find out just how much and how strong their bond really was in the beginning. The author has done an amazing job making these characters come to life and jump from the pages. I look forward to learning more about Liliana, Emiliana and Sofia before they became wives.

This is a good book that touches on and talks about a heavy topic. Renee has been kidnapped by someone who deals in sex trafficking. When she returns she starts going through therapy to try and move on, but she of course has set backs from things that trigger those memories she hopes to forget. Her brothers best friend, Declan, was once one of her closest friends and they are once again working toward that close friendship, possibly more. Though Declan still has feelings for Renee he decides not to act on them in order for her to heal. When Renee goes missing again while at a wedding they can’t help but fear the worst. Was she kidnapped again? Or did she leave of her own accord? Will they get a happily ever after or is Renee too scarred from her past to be truly loved and happy?

This book was quite a bit different from the first book I ever read by this author. Even though they could be classified in the same category they were both pleasantly different. In this story Elinor Chalamet is what you could consider a psychic of sorts. She is using her abilities to find her father killer, however she is pulled into a side investigation by the police when a body turns up in the local canal. She may not have taken up the case but when she heard that the Duke de Archambeau was interested in the case she took it. It seems the Duke is more of a hindrance than a help though on this case. Will she be able to solve it?

I have never read anything by this author before but we are off to a great start! This book is the first in this series and it was a page turner. Adrianna has been plotting revenge against the Larussio family since she was young as she was under the impression they killed her father. When she is hired as an in house doctor at their new casino in Las Vegas she hopes to find the answers she seeks. Will the answer be what she wants to hear or will she be left with more questions? Salvatore is next in line to be the leader of the Mafia but there are those out there that don’t feel like he deserves it. There is a rat within his ranks and he intends to find out who it is. Things only tend to get complicated when he and Adrianna start dancing around each other trying not to catch feelings. The last thing Salvatore needs is to give his enemies a reason to think he has a weakness. Keeping Adrianna at an arms length is a lot easier said than done though. Will he be at to keep her and his family safe or is she the true enemy he needs to look out for?

Unveiling Beulah Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

I really enjoyed listening to this story. Beulah has moved to a small town in Texas after her grandmother passed away. She buys a merchantile store with the money she inherited and it is her new beginning. She moved from New York as she felt unwanted there not only by the people she thought were her friends, but her own parents. Poor Beulah grew up thinking and feeling like she was ugly due to a scar on her face received during an accident. This especially seems true to her after a broekn engagement to a man that didn’t want her just the fortune she would eventually end up with. The only person that ever showed her unconditional love and support was her grandmother. Lucian ended up in the small Texas town two years prior to Beulah. What kind of knowledge would a down and out car salesman possess? Dex’s captors thought it was important enough to abduct his whole family. After many hours of torture the abductors realize that they have nabbed the wrong guy. Now with his life and that of his family are marked for death he must find a way to free them. Will he be successful? This was a book that started out with action and never let up the whole way through. If you like books that have twists and turns and will keep you turning the pages I suggest you give this a try. This was the first book inhave read by this author and I was not disappointed. If any of his other books are anything like this one he has gained a new fan.

This was a good book that kept me up past my very early bedtime, haha. When Gemma’s father passes away under mysterious circumstances she fires up her investigative skills to find who was responsible. What was so secret that he had to die? Dominic Cacciari will do anything to keep Gemma from spilling the secrets of the Freemasons. There are things that should remain secrets from outsiders. But when their intense attraction for one another becomes too much will either party be able to resist?

This was such a great series from start to finish. Once you’re introduced to a character you start to wonder whether the author has a story to tell about them. The author did not disappoint! I loved the family bond between everyone as well. Every story had it’s unique set of circumstances and obstacles for the characters to over come, but they were all also interwoven in such a way that it was easy to follow along. If you want to dig into some great books and have time to binge read I highly recommend this series.

An Inheritance to Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For Book 4) by Judy Moore – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

An Inheritance To Die For (Cozy Mysteries To Die For, #4)An Inheritance To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Is this the end of the series? I sure hope not! Beck has finally been licensed as a PI and has gotten her first big case. Her roommate from Freshman year of college called her to investigate the untimely death of her father. He was set to meet his lawyer to make up a new will but was found dead of an apparent suicide. With some many people standing to inherit millions who is to blame? Was it Jacqueline or her twin? Maybe their younger brother? Was it the wife who was about to cut off or maybe her son? With so many people to look into Beck definitely has a lot of work ahead of her. Add to that a budding romance with Devon. Are they dating informally? Will they become exclusive? If you liked the other books in this series you will definitely like this one as well.

This was a decent book that kept me entertained. I will most likely go back and read the first three books of this series as I would like to get more background on the characters and their relationships. With that being said I did enjoy this book. Christopher Marlowe is about to meet his demise due to criminals and spies in the 1500s. The love of his life lives in present day Philadelphia and works as a detective. How is that possible you ask? Well, Tam is a time traveler who fixes snags in time. She is tasked with going back in time and fixing things that alter the future. She and her ex lover must go back and fix the timeline that coincides with Christopher’s demise as it has been altered. Will they be able to find who is behind the conspiracy? Will Tam be able to leave her beloved behind to die so things will happen as they should? Or will she risk destroying the future as she knows it by saving his life?

While I did enjoy the story of Raf and Elle I found myself a bit frustrated with how they danced around one another. Raf believes that he is cursed due to something that happened in his past. Elle is also the little sister of one of his best friends. Having grown up in a rough neighborhood and then pulling himself out of that area, Raf has not only made a decent living working on a boat, but he has also made a life for himself in Moon Harbor. When it finally comes time that Raf can’t hold in his feelings anymore his past comes back to haunt him. Someone is after Elle but she doesn’t know who it is or why. When Raf is framed for the murder of one of his former friends Elle is unsure whether or not to believe him. Why is someone trying to frame Raf for something he surely didn’t do? Is the murdered friend connected to the guy that has been following Elle? This book will keep you turning the pages just to see if Raf and Elle get their HEA and whether or not they catch the person who is behind the tragedy that occurred in what was once a safe town.

I started this series with book two, but this one was every bit as good. Emma is working in the family bakery but finds herself wanting some adventure. When one of the cases she is looking into turns serious she must decide what will happen with her family. How will she be able to keep them safe? This book is easy to read. I myself had a little difficulty getting used to the style of writing, but the story flowed well and of course the characters were great.
