Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) By Tarina Deaton I have loved reading this series and this book is no different!! This author had become one of my favorites, I have truly enjoyed reading every story and have become invested in each of these wonderful characters. I am so glad to see that the characters from the other books make appearances in each story. Zoe and Tim’s story is heartwarming, hilarious and so much more. Zoe is a strong and independent woman who finds herself in embarrassing situations whenever her hot neighbor Tim is around. I found myself not only smiling but actually laughing out loud at times. They have both been hurt in the past and are apprehensive about having someone in their life. If you want to read an awesome romantic story and find out what happens between these two, this is a must read! I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Imperfect Heart was a great 5 star read and book four in the Combat Hearts series.
I was pulled in right from the beginning, with a LOL scene with Zoe and a raccoon. On top of that the way she ends up meeting her neighbor Tim was classic. Best start ever in a book. Zoe has moved to Haven Springs to start over and open a bookstore.
Tim is a police officer and I fell for him right away. When he got a call from his neighbor about a possible suspicious person, he definitely didn’t plan to find Zoe in the predicament she was. There is something about his new neighbor that has got his attention.
Will Zoe’s bookstore be a great addition to Haven Springs? Will Zoe and Tim have a HEA?
There is so much more to this great read. All of the secondary characters were great. The chemistry between these two was off that charts. Tim was very supportive of Zoe and he had an alpha side to him that brings us some steamy moments. The bantering had me LOL at times. Tarina’s writing is great, she pulls you right in and you won’t want to stop until your done. I look forward to reading more from her. If your looking for a fun series that has lots of different elements, this is the one for you.

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts #4) by Tarina Deaton was the perfect ending to this wonderfully amazing series.
I love this series, and I’m saddened that this is the last instalment. But all good things must come to a end, even if we don’t want them to. I must say this book, was just as strong as the others, and it being that last had that added closer that let you feeling like, these characters are going to be okay. I will say that though this is considered a standalone. I highly suggest reading the other books, so you can get a feel for this world, and of course, avoid spoilers.
While reading this book I was sitting here like, did Tarina Deaton just predict my future? Confused, well I am a serving member (Canadian Navy) and I currently have 12 years in, and am releasing in the next year. My plan is to somehow just surround myself with books and make money. So yeah, I drew some strong comparison between myself and our MC. Now I just need a sexy cop to come “save me” and we’d be all good. .jk.jk...
Okay enough about that, let’s get into this story.
I very much like Zoe, and as I have said in my reviews of the other books in this series, you can tell it was written by someone who has served. The slang, the interactions, and just in the way Zoe acted. I believe I have said this before, but the military, no matter what country you serve in, does a number on your social skills. And the whole, “I can save myself”, is also a strong trait we all seem to share.
Tim, my dream guy, why the hell are you fiction? lol.. But in all seriousness, he was a great character and fit well with Zoe. Strong, sassy, and there, he was there for her, even when she was fighting him, he was there. Sure he was a bit alpha-ish, but he’s a cop, I think that’s part of their job requirements.
Overall this book, was perfect. It was a perfect addition to a amazing series, and it was that perfect ending that tied up everything, leaving you feeling all gooey and happy on the inside. So please, please take my super, super, high recommendation and my gold stamp of approval, that you will be captured by this truly heart melty, feels snapping read.
Well, I most certainly did not see the side-splitting laughs that were to come from this novel. I have read the previous Combat Hearts novels, and really they were good novels, but this one takes the top favorite for me. I was excited, because this was a perfect conclusion to the series for me. My only complaint… It ended, lol. You do not have to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one, they can be standalones. However, it would increase your reading pleasure.
Zoe was so relatable for me. She has that quirky awkwardness about her. She talks a lot when she doesn’t know what to say, much like myself. I think the only thing we don’t have in common is the fact that she was in the military. I love her love for books, and that she goes for her dream of opening a bookstore after she retires from her military career. I guess the other difference is that she is a youngest child and I am the oldest, but those seem to have similar characteristics as well.
Then there is Tim, the handsome strong cop. He is drawn to Zoe and wants to protect her. Well Zoe being the strong, independent and ex-militant woman she is, doesn’t need this help and protector. Cue hilarious jokes and side comments. Especially when feelings are introduced to the mix! There is a perfect balance of comedy, romance, and just enough of a twist to keep you on the edge of your seat that you will be reading this well past your bedtime to find out how things will end for these two. Like I said, I am sad to see Combat Hearts come to a close, but I look forward to seeing what else is to come from Tarina Deaton in the near future! Thanks for the great series!
This is the second book I have read by Deaton. Even though it is the 4th book in the series it can be read as a standalone. Zoe and Tim’s friends are from the first three books and are mentioned in this story, but you do not have to read those stories to understand this one. Should you read them? Yes! Tarina Deaton is quickly becoming a favorite new to me author.
Imperfect Heart is super cute, super fun and super sexy. Tim is a small-town police officer while Zoe is ex-military. Zoe’s family sucks. Plain and simple they do not have her best interest at heart. Her best friend Elba is exactly what a best friend should be, caring, fun, and smart. Even the old lady across the street, Mrs. Wilson, seems to care more about Zoe than her own family. While reading this story I laughed out loud, got a little teary eyed and found myself nodding my head in agreement many times.
“It was…nice. She didn’t have an issue with being taken care of. At least, not in the sense that she was helpless or wanted someone to provide for her, but having a guy who worried and wanted to make sure she was safe…? Yeah…that was hot.”
I highly recommend this story and can’t wait to read the others in this series.

5++++++++ Stars
I’m going to start right off with…Definitely one of my favorite books so far this year, actually maybe even further back than that. I’m not sure without looking how many of this authors books I have read but I know I have felt the same way after every one of them.
I honestly didn’t know if I was going to make it past 10% because I was laughing so hard at so many things and I couldn’t see through the tears. I really sincerely wish I could find the words to explain what it is I love so much about reading this authors books. It’s the way she words conversations between characters, the one liners, the snarky comebacks, they all just feel so real. I sincerely did not want the book to end, and even as I write this review I want to read it all over again, actually I want to make sure I have all of this series and read them all back to back.
I loved this storyline, Zoe is absolutely one of my all time favorite female leads, she was so strong, and determined yet still had the softness to her personality, and absolutely hilarious, I dont even know which part of her story had me laughing the hardest, and then she still had that side to her that melted my heart, and then in comes Tim….**heavy sigh** we all need a Tim, he was everything I want in my male leads
I’m not going to retell the story in this review, Im just going to tell you you have to read this book, actually read the whole series, the people from the previous books follow through the series and having all those stories are a definite must.
This authors talent for words has her in a class with the best of the best in my opinion.

I lost the count of how many times I laughed and chuckled while reading this book. The situations that Zoe found herself in are just hilarious and of course it’s even more funny when a hot man like Tim is around to comment on them. But oh, her comebacks are delicious and full of sass!!
Two people who were married before but have been hurt in the past. They crave that person that will be for them through the ups and down and they can cuddle with after a long day. However they are chucking it on their busy lives, pretending they are okay just like this rather than him saving another damsel in distress and her to go trough cheating again. But when it’s bound to happen it will happen and these two will have the help of all their friends to make it happen 🙂
Zoe as a heroine is amazing, so brave and positive and of course feisty!! Tim is her perfect match *smirk* Great secondary characters as well!

IMPERFECT HEART is Book 4 of the Combat Heart Series. It is a stand-alone but you really should read the other stories in the series also to find out how fabulous each and every friend is.
I love this series and it just keeps getting better and better. I hope it continues on with Elba’s story – Oh my gosh, and Kevin!! We need Kevin’s story!!! The thing I especially like in this series is that the author is not afraid to write strong, independent women who do not NEED men in their life to make them complete – they WANT them in their life. That’s an amazing place to be and I wish more people understood that – real and fictional.
As with the other stories in this series, the characters are well developed and are mature and able to speak their truth eloquently. The characters are family – some by blood and others by choice. This is a multi layered story that is told in 3rd person. It’s real and and it’s genuine. I would absolutely want to be friends with all of the women in this series and the story makes me want to go to my local independent bookstore for a cup of coffee and a book.
This is a quick and easy read that I was very fulfilled with.
I absolutely recommend this book, this series and this author.

A super cute short read that was fun. Tim and Zoe were a fun couple. I don’t understand how Tim put up with Zoe’s need to make list for everything. I mean she put him on a to do list lol. I liked how the author didn’t make everything so dramatic. The moments that caused a separation seemed flawless and more natural. Some people are meant to separate but find a way back together. I like that they knew their flaws and could adjust for their partner. I wish finding someone to share your life with was as easy as reading it in a book. I really liked this author and can’t wait to read some more. Hopefully Elba gets a story next. I really liked her. Reviewed by @gguerrero89
This is the fourth book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much as the other books in this series. The one thing I enjoy about this author is her ability to pull me in right from the beginning and this one is no different. She made me feel as if I was right there with Zoe and Tim. They are characters that made me laugh in parts and compassion in the other. The chemistry between these two is strong and I found myself hoping they would find their HEA. I highly recommend reading their story!
Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) By: Tarina Deaton 5 out of 5 stars
The story Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) by Tarina Deaton is an amazing romance book that I loved reading. It hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Zoe Acevedo and Tim Larken. I found Zoe to be a brave and independent person as she is going to open her own bookstore. As I love books it is a place that I would visit. She is also smart, determined, and passionate. That passion is for books but also for Tim. Tim is a police officer. He does his job well and helps others. He is helping Zoe out the first time he sees her. He finds himself unable to stop thinking of her. He is intrigued by her. She is attracted to him as well. There is chemistry between them and they soon find themselves giving in to the passion and desire that has been sparked between them. Zoe still has doubts and fears about her business. Tim is someone who encourages her and is behind what she is doing. Will Zoe’s business be a success? Will Tim and Zoe find themselves in a relationship? Sometimes communication becomes strained. Will they make sure that each one knows how the other feels? Will they find happiness together? Read this book to find out. There are other characters that I enjoyed reading about in this story. There is a lot of bantering back and forth between Zoe and Tim as well as the other characters. It is quite humorous at times. Had me with a smile on my face and laughing out loud. There are also some steamy scenes included which will make the temperature in the room rise. Zoe and Tim are characters that I grew to love with each chapter that I read. This story is wonderfully written and one that I highly recommend reading.

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) by Tarina Deaton is the fourth book in the Combat Hearts series, but can be read as a standalone. Imperfect Heart is a contemporary romance with an engaging storyline and amazing chemistry. It is also full of suspense and intrigue, laughter and love and sadness that pulls you into the story and tugs on your heart. I laughed out loud at Zoe’s antics and situations she found herself in and was so drawn to the characters that I was unable to put the book down, I had to read it all in one sitting. Lets not forget our male hero who is endearing and funny and will make your heart melt. This is one story that should not be missed.

I absolutely love this author! Every book that I have read of hers has left me wanting more, her descriptive writing allows me to easily imagine what I am reading, I have an instant connection with the characters that she creates and I can never put down one of her books until I have finished. I have read a few books from this series but not all and I think it could be read as a standalone. I LOVED Zoe and Tim! They were both fantastic characters and I was completely and utterly captivated by their story. Zoe was so lovely; I loved her clumsiness and the fact that she got so nervous and just babbled on and on especially when it came to Tim. Here was just something about her that was so warm and genuine and you know you would love to have a friend like her. Tim was everything I have come to expect from one of Ms Deaton’s leading men; he was hot, sexy, protective and definitely swoon-worthy!! Tim and Zoe’s first meeting will probably stick in my mind of one of the funniest ever! I loved it! It definitely set the tone for the rest of the story! I cannot recommend this story enough – there’s funny moments, brilliant characters and above all romance! A perfect read for those cold winter nights!
Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) By Tarina Deaton Rated 5 stars
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story!!! It started out making me laugh my rear off. That just kept that up through the story along with a sexy romance and a bit of danger. So many unpredictable things happen. Tarina Deaton never disappoints but I think this is my favorite of hers!
Zoe is wild! And unpredictable and would be so much fun! I loved her from the beginning and it didn’t stop. She made me laugh and envy her. She opens a outstanding bookstore. Has a crazy family that interferes as often as possible in her life. Then meets the next door neighbor and ….whoosh life changes.
The relationships between the familial characters is a ton a fun to read. I guess I should say even the besties are a blast. I just enjoy the heck out of these secondary characters! Tim and Jase (brothers) are so funny picking on each other. Then Bree gets dropped into the mix. LOL! Elba and Zoe have a fifteen year friendship so….you know…anything goes with them. Be prepared to smile.
This book made me laugh, had a nice romance along with an element of danger. The writing flows and easily kept my interest. It’s not necessary to read the other books but I’m telling you….It enhances the enjoyment of the series since they all show back up. Another Showstopper!

Locked-Down Heart (Combat Hearts Book 3) By Tarina Deaton 5 Stars This is the continuation of Denise and Chris’s story. The last we saw them Denise had thought he just disappeared after giving him a chance in her life. His position with the FBI takes him on missions where he has to cut off all communication and basically turn into a ghost. Denise is done with all that, she has enough to deal with being given custody of her cousins and trying to figure out how she is going to not screw them up, since she has a hard time taking care of herself as it is. When Chris returns with his mission to take down the man that as it turns out is the young cousins father who is supposed to be in prison but got out early and has skipped parole. Denise’s life focus has changed and the children have become everything to her, and she will go to any length to protect them. That includes not allowing Chris to use them as bait to catch their father. Now that he’s back he wants to pick back up with Denise where they left off, but Denise is sick of being an afterthought and isn’t keen on allowing him back in. This was an amazing story, I love this author and her style of pulling a story together. I loved the twists and turns and the danger factor that was present in this story. Sprocket was still one of my favorite parts as well as the friendship bond between Bree and Denise, I love the snarky one liners and the love and support these two share. This author has risen to being one of my new favorite authors and I will read anything she comes out with. Loved Loved Loved It!!!

Locked Down Heart is book three in the Combat Heart series by Tarina Deaton. You need to read the other books before you read this one, so you get the back story on each of these wonderful and truly lovable characters. It is action packed and fast paced and you our instantly pulled into their world. You will laugh and cry along with them, as you get invested in each and everyone’s lives. The suspense had me on the edge of my seat and my heart thumping. It is second chance romance that is equally thrilling yet sexy, heartfelt and passionate, tender yet heartbreaking. Tarina is a gifted writer and makes you a part of the story. I loved every single moment of this book as I did with the others. If you don’t read this series you are missing out on a great piece of work. I am anxiously awaiting to see what is next in this series.
Half-Broke Heart (Combat Hearts #1.5) by Tarina Deaton and should definitely should be read after you have read the first one. This one follows on from Stitched Up Heart and is just as good as the first. It is a easy quick read but so good, the words just flow effortlessly across the pages. The characters are so well written that you feel like you know them. I loved the friendship between Denise and Bree, it was easy and they made me laugh. True friendship.
Chris and Denise were in the first book and it was great to see them get their own story. BUT, no, just no!! Tarina the way you ended this book made me want to cry. I wanted so much more, no needed more, I want more!!!!!! I am literally jumping around waiting to read the next one.
Stitched Up Heart (Combat Hearts Book 1) by Tarina Deaton is a heart warming and emotional romance story that will captivate you from start to finish and is a great start to this series. I have not read anything by Tarina before but I look forward to reading other works by her, as she is a good storyteller.
Bree and her bestie have been through hell and back together more times than they can count. But as the saying says what doesn’t break you makes you stronger is certainly the case with the characters in this story. Bree is an independent and confident woman who knows what she wants and decides it’s time to do just that.
Jase is hot and sexy alpha male who is still broken after serving in the military. Jase has never had a real relationship but this headstrong and beautiful woman has made him rethink things.
Stitched Up Heart is a beautiful story with wonderful characters who will capture you heart. I cannot wait to read what Tarina does next with this series..

Oh my goodness, I loved this story so so so much. I did mess up though and read this before I read Stitched Up Heart, the first in the series. Although saying that I can say that yes, I need to read the first before I read the next one, but I was never lost in this story. This is the start to Denise and Chris’s story and at the beginning I did feel like I was missing something because it felt like it started in the middle of a story, well DUH, it did LOL.
I loved everything about this book, it read so easily, the words flowing perfectly and I just about threw my kindle when it ended. The storyline was amazing and the character build was spot on, and happened at the right time throughout. I loved the friendship interaction between Denise and Bree, and also the bond Denise has with Sprocket…There is just not one thing I didn’t love about this book!!!
The sneak peek at the end had me again almost throwing my kindle because I wanted it to go on and go ahead and give me the whole book.
This is my first by Tarina Deaton, and will absolutely positively not be my last! I have to end this now because Book 1 is calling my name and I can’t wait to finish that so I can move on to Book 2.
Many thanks to Miss Deaton for a beautifully written story, and a new series that I can already say I will be rereading in the future. I recommend this book highly, but don’t do as I did, Grab the first in the series and start there, I haven’t even read it yet and know that I’m going to love it!!! Review by @debikircher
