First holiday book of the season. I enjoyed it. I was hooked from the first chapter. I felt an instant connection to the characters. The author kept me entertained throughout the entire book. This book was beautifully written. I will be reading more from this author.

Juliet is teaching a class on Romeo and Juliet when she meets James. James is not her average student, he is older and makes it very clear he is interested in her from the beginning. He wants to charm Juliet, but Juliet is unsure. What does James have to do to prove he is the one for her?
This was fun. Chemistry was there from the beginning, good banter between James and Juliet. I appreciated the older couple romance, you do not see a lot of these.

A Crossbow Christmas by Ann Swann. This is such an inspiring read. Its about Carina who has had her world turned upside in the past year. She has lost her mom, her dad and a sister in the course of a year and she also endured a long horrible battle with COVID that almost caused her own death. When she is trying to recover she realizes that the most important thing on Earth is family. She wants to spend more time with her family and they want no part of it. She and her husband are growing apart and her kids have all moved on with their lives. When she meets Max a young man who has recently lost his wife to cancer they form a friendship and that friendship saves them both. Carina learns to function thru and after a worldwide pandemic. Can she put her life back together and find joy in the world again. Read this sweet book to find out!
Ann Swann created a wondrous story that immerses the reader into Carina’s world. Swann uses elegant descriptions of the quaint cabin and town not far from the cabin to bring everything to life. The reader can relate to Carina because we have all had to deal with the after-effects of COVID in one way or another.
Because of COVID and the death of her parents, Carina has been put through the wringer, emotionally and physically. A good ol’ home-fashioned family Christmas is all Carina is looking forward to after COVID took her down for the count causing her to have an extended stay at the hospital. Unfortunately, her family regards her as a silly sentimental old woman whom they do not have time to visit even for Christmas. She turns to a young man named Max from her grief group for support. When he offers the use of his Colorado cabin, she knows it could be the answer to her prayers for a family Christmas. Will Carina be able to convince her family to enjoy a white Christmas with her at the cabin? It is unlikely and she writes about the possibility of going to the cabin alone, but she is not as brave as she used to be because she is so used to depending on other people. The Rom Com Movie Club is the first book in The Rom Com Movie Club Series and is a wonderfully written Contemporary Romance that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I loved absolutely everything about this book from the amazing characters that are relatable, fully developed and real to the storyline that flowed so well that you feel like you are right there with them. I found myself chuckling to being a bit sad as this story has it all from drama, humor and lots of bantering. This is Lisa and Ryan’s story, she’s used to being tossed around has growing up in foster care she didn’t have the best idea of what happily ever after really is. Then there’s Ryan and he’s moved home and staying with his parents until something comes along Lisa and three of her friends get together once a month for Rom com movie club where they each get facial and watch a rom com amongst other things. These two definitely have the chemistry and attraction but can they have a happily ever after ? I highly recommend reading this book and I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Feel good book. Took a bit to get into the book but once past the first chapter, I could not put the book down. Carina Prinner had a new outlook on life. She had survived Covid. Before that, she lost both of her parents and her only sibling. She knew she had her children and husband. After Carina came home, things changed. Her husband seemed to work more hours than before and her children were out of the nest. She found a grief support group where she found a friend in Max Paper. A young widower. He and his late wife owned a cabin in Crossbow, CO. Max offered it to Carina for the Christmas holiday. Everyone but her youngest son seemed to think it was a bad idea. So, she traveled by herself from TX to Colorado. She found a small kitten and befriended the local vet. She also became friends with the local Brewery owners. Here, she found peace and a sense of self worth. I love the twist of ALL the kids coming together in a surprise to give Carina the best memories ever. Her husband Alfred even joined in.

This is a different Christmas story. Carina got sick with Covid and was in hospital. When she gets out of the hospital. No one wants to spend Christmas with her. The only one that understands is a young man in a grief support group. You have to read the rest of the book to see what happens. I can’t wait to read more books from this author.<br />

The Rom Com Movie Club – Book One by Bernadette Marie

Lisa, Mindy, Tina and Ruby are the Rom Com Movie Club and informal family. Lisa, unlike the other girls, grew up in foster care and never attended college. The girls are only a handful of people that have never walked away and forgotten about her. Upon Tina’s wedding, Lisa meets the grooms brother, Ryan. These two have instant chemistry but this is seen as a threat to Tina, wanting all focus on her wedding day. What ensues is love story in the making all while attempting to maintain peace within the friendship group. There were so many great things about this story and the author nicely intertwined Lisa’s childhood and finding her own family. While I did enjoy the story of Lisa and Ryan, I was more drawn to the friendship aspect of the book, especially the one on one moments between Ruby and Lisa. I’m excited to continue the characters storylines in the remaining books of this series.

How does one put a new spin on Romeo & Juliet? Set in the modern day, add a bad guy, add some instant love and some sweet romance, that is how!! This author uses Shakespearan quotes as though they were modern day dialogue. It was great and fun to read.
Juliet is a divorced woman that is trying to find her way. She has been divorced for 5 years now and wants to be in a relationship but doesn’t want to get her heartbroken again. She is walking a tightrope! When an enigmatic student takes her class and then calls for dating advice, Juliet starts to wonder if putting her number on the syllabus for student’s to contact her for help was such a good idea. This student just keeps surprising her.
James is kind of in a rut. His kids are pushing him to get out and get a little culture by attending this college course. James is not sure that Shakespeare is what he needs in his life but is willing to try. When James meets Juliet, he knows that she is the missing piece to his life. He is determined to make Juliet his. Buuuuuuut, Juliet isn’t so sure. She is unwilling to trust and open her heart. Can James get her to change her mind? Will a ghost from Juliet’s past ruin everything?
This fast-paced story is a quick read. Loved the he falls first part. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Shakespeare quotes and poetry!! Fantastic story.

I was extremely excited to read the second installment in this series. I liked it a lot. I’m glad that Austin found his love. Casey is adorable. Literally a normal girl and that was exactly what he needed. They fit well together and I’m glad everything worked out for them. I really dislike Mavis. I was extremely excited for her and Josh to reunite last book but I kinda feel as though they settled. I know Josh loves her but she had a hard time choosing between him and his brother. Even up until the rehearsal dinner she still had to have time with Austin. I know it was for closure but I think it was extremely selfish of her. My heart broke for Lauren. I really hope everything works out for her in the last book. Maybe Her and Mitch will rekindle their love? Finger crossed. Side note, Susan Is something else. I kind of want more background on her and John. Seems like there may be some hidden secrets. ( Prequel??) overall the book was pretty good.

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. Lisa, Mindy, Ruby, and Tina gather once a month for a ‘Rom Com Movie Club’ night, and I loved each of these likeable and relatable characters, and their friendship really came across in the narrative. Lisa didn’t have a stable home growing up and her friends have become her family, but she still didn’t really know what a happily ever after looked liked, only in the films they watched. Although Lisa is used to having obstacles thrown at her, she never imagined that by finding the man of her dreams, it would cause a rift with her best friend. Meanwhile Ryan had returned home to live with his parents whilst looking for his next opportunity.
However, he never expected that following his brother, and joining in with his future sister in laws girly ‘Rom Com Movie Club’ night, that he would fall head over heels for Lisa. Although it’s not the best timing for falling in love with her best friend’s soon to be brother in law, just before the wedding, Lisa is surprised when her friend assumes that Lisa is out to ruin her wedding. Having fallen in love with a man who loves her back, Lisa must choose between her fairy tale ending, or her friend who has always been there whenever needed. This was a heartwarming and sweet romance, and I loved the chemistry between Lisa and Ryan. However, it was also a story about friendship, and I loved the banter and the dynamic between the four girls. I look forward to the other’s getting their own stories and hopefully HEA’s in the rest of the series!

I love you today. I love this story and this series. The blurb says it can be read as a standalone but I don’t think so. If you don’t read book one you will not understand Austin’s heartbreak. I can tell you his heart is broken but you feel it starting in book one. In this book, book 2, we get to see Austin’s heart break heal as he leans on Casey and learns about the difference in his past, his present and his possible future. Casey is introduced in book one as well. She’s Mavis’ best friend. Casey thinks Mavis choose the wrong brother. But at the same time Casey is glad she’s the one that gets to play ball with Austin. Casey is our main girl in this story. Her character in life is a back seat kind of person. Yes, she is living her life, working, trying to go to school, trying to be happy, trying to be better than her upbringing. Casey lives life but not in a crazy obnoxious way. She’s just wild enough to catch Austin’s eye and even his heart!
I really liked this story. The characters are down to earth and real. The writing keeps me engaged and turning those pages.
Book 3 teaser: Austin and Josh’s sister Lauren gets her turn and her story looks like it may be the story with the most needed tissues. Looking forward to reading it.

This was a really relatable and emotional story. The fact that the main character Carina is so relatable is what makes this story such an emotional read. Its like reading about parts of myself in this book. It deal with difficult subjects such as grief, loss of family around covid time, dealing with the illness yourself and also the realisation that life just isn’t how it used to be.
Carina has gone through a lot in the last year. From losing several family members during the pandemic to almost becoming a victim of it herself. When she recovers all she wants is a big family Christmas, however all her kids are gown and have their own lives and her husband is too busy working.
Feeling very lost and alone she starts to question herself. After so many years of caring for others what does she do now she’s no longer needed.
When she is offered the chance to stay at a friend’s cabin for a guaranteed white Christmas is she brave enough to go alone, to do something that she wants just for her? And what happens if she does that that leap of faith? Will she find her purpose in life and in the process find herself again? Or will she be to worried and scared to put herself first.
It is an emotional story which I can relate to on all different levels. I’ve never felt more connected to a character because as a wife and mother the thoughts and feelings she goes through I have had myself. It is a beautifully written story that deals with a subject not many people discuss.

Teddy is just being release from prison, but will he be able to live life again. Once arriving on his families farm he is shocked at the changes that have happened over the six years he has been imprisoned.
Robyn was en-route for college and then law school until one fateful night when all there worlds were turn around, her boyfriend sent to prison for something he never did and with that injustice she lost all fight of becoming a lawyer, but seeing him again has evoked the feelings that never really went away.
Can they rekindle the lost love and can Teddy be released from the guilt of ruining his family and his life because of one stupid mistake.
OMG, get your tissues at the ready. I love this author and her style of writing and this was a brilliant, emotional story from start to finish. I so felt sorry for Teddy and the emotional upheaval one mistake can take and also the gracious guy who did not blame anyone for the huge mistake that occurred in his life.
The family dynamic was lovely to read and that his family stood by him and strived to help him integrate in society again. The feelings that this story brought up was heart-breaking and you felt like you were on the journey with Robyn and Teddy throughout the story. I have read many books by this author and this one does not disappoint one bit, I am hoping the next book in the series is James and Sam’s story. I can’t wait to read more.

This was such a fantastic book! I loved Austin and Casey, they have amazing chemistry!
When Austin and Casey meet Austin is still hung up on Mavis, who did him a favor and chose his twin brother Josh over him. Austin instantly feels something for Casey but can’t quite move on from his feelings for Mavis. When he has an opportunity to move from sunny LA to the Windy City he jumps at the chance, and this is when his feelings for Casey truly grow and develop.
I loved how their relationship grew and they worked through their problems. As someone who often doubts herself and lacks confidence Casey is very relatable to me. I love how Austin believed in and supported her and her dreams, and was always pushing her to believe in herself and chase after what she wants! I think we all need someone like that in our corner.

A sweet Christmas story. The Perfect Mrs. Claus is the book you cuddle up with a mug of hot chocolate on a cool December day. A wonderful story when all is said and done.
If I had one knock on it, it’s the constant flashbacks. Early on they were all over the place and I was really confused. As the book progressed the author cleaned up the transition between past and present. I still think it was a lot though. And just because I say that doesn’t mean that takes away from the story the author wrote.
This book is about love, loss, and hope. What Savannah accomplishes in this book reminds me of what I wish I could do. To selflessly help others in ways I currently can’t. Doesn’t always work out that way, but I hope my life leads me there some day.
Matthew and Savannah are two lonely souls. Both of their children are overseas. Savannah is a widow, while Matthew is a divorcée. What are the odds life leads them to one in an unexpected way?
He’s in charge of the yearly Christmas display and he needs a Mrs.Claus. In walks Savannah into the store that will change their lives forever.
The growth of these characters individually as well as together is beautifully written. It makes you root for these characters and makes you keep turning the page.
If you enjoy Christmas novels it’s worth a read!

Faultless Love: A Small Town Second Chance Romance (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book 1)
She did it again! I am in love with the Bennett family including the dogs Jaxon and Delia. They are all so good to everyone including each other, I would love to have them for my family.
This was so much more than a romance to me. The importance of family was also something I got from this book. Definitely made me wish the family I grew in was like this, but I did realize how loving and supportive the family I have made is.
Ted has proven he would do anything for Robyn, the woman he loves and now they have the opportunity to make up for lost time. He works hard with the family farm and trying to keep on the straight and narrow.
I got lost in this book almost immediately and enjoyed every second.

A Crossbow Christmas by Ann Swann is a family drama set around Christmas in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Carina has struggled through so much loss that she finds herself feeling lonely trying to move on with her life. Her grown children have all moved on in life and her husband took a new job and seemingly forgot her. Carina is always taking care of others, and doesn’t know what to do when there’s nobody to take care of in her family.
Carina is reluctant, but takes up an opportunity to spend Christmas in a cabin in Colorado thanks to a friend from her support group. Carina has no idea it it’s the right move or what will become of her Christmas, but this is her chance at healing and finding herself.

This was a wonderful read. The chemistry between the two main characters is undeniable. Things are a little rocky in the beginning with Ted just coming out of his prison time, and the last year of his parole. Bound and determined to stay out of trouble he finally comes home to his family’s Christmas tree farm. He helps out around the place, and one day he heads into town and unknowingly walks into Robyn’s flower shop. They both surprised to see each other and they do some reminiscing. Sparks fly back between the two like their love has never died. Although, Robyn is still in a relationship with Anderson.
I love how it handled the relationship between Robyn and Anderson. It was handled a lot better than most people would’ve handled it. The storytelling was amazing, and the re-budding romance between Robyn and Ted pulled at my heartstrings. You got see them fall in love all over again, with some trials sprinkled throughout the story. Do the two lovers end up staying together, or does the past repeat itself and they are taken from each other again?!

This is my first read by the author and I liked it. The first journal entry in the first chapter was so raw it drew me in. I will say after that I struggled to stay drawn in but the end of the book hooked me back in. This story is such a heartwarming story overall. Carina is very relatable and the way she handles grief is touching.

This was such a cute story with a dash of drama and suspense mixed in with the romance. We meet our main characters in a summer literature class, where Juliet is the teacher and Jim is a diamond in the rough student. They have an instant attraction, but Juliet is far more cautious, while Jim is impulsive and ready to jump in feet first. As they find the parallels with their love and Shakespeare, Jim is looking for ways to make it work, while Juliet’s caution makes her gun shy. I thought it was a very sweet romance story about second chances and that love doesn’t play by the rules. I thought both characters were very sweet and the story-line flowed well. I loved all of the Shakespeare quotes sprinkled throughout the story as well! It was a semi-quick read that I couldn’t put down!

Reading A Crossbow Christmas was like stepping into a Hallmark movie in my head. Though it was a little longer than 2 hours and no commercials. I’m a sucker for a good Christmas novel and this one hit all the feels. I wasn’t too sure what I was jumping into, because with Christmas novels I haven’t read a bad one yet. So I decided to jump right in with this one.
The author wrote 2 characters that have had a heartbreaking last few years. Between family loss and the pandemic it was a lot to deal with. But the author wrote it beautifully and it kept me wanting more!
Carina is a mother of 4, with 4 grandchildren. Happily married or is there trouble in paradise. She has been through a lot. Losing both her parents as well as her sister in the last few years. She also had a long and tiring battle in the hospital with Covid. She needs a break, a vacation. She does everything to get her family to go away for the holidays, to no avail. Well her one son agreed, which made her decide to do it!
Max is a late 20s doctorate student, who lost the love of his life to cancer. He met Carina through a grief group on Facebook and they’ve been great friends since. He offered a cabin that his wife inherited, and they renovated to make it so much more. Located in a ski town of Crossbow CO, he thought it would be great for her family to spend the holidays there.
Carina goes through a rollercoaster of emotions on her journey. Sometimes the author had me frustrated with her. Other times I could relate because I’m the same way. When one feels alone, they are the only one who gets to break through those feelings to change that.

Absolutely Loved this story and this family!
This story had me glued to its pages! I loved everything about it. The uniqueness, the storyline, the characters and the town. I don’t want to forget the emotions that this brought forth. I could feel the love these two had for each other. The book should be called enduring love.
The theme of this book is one that drew my attention. I enjoyed that this is surrounding Ted and his jail release, incarceration and his worries and concerns being on probation or possibly put back in jail. He really took me on a journey. Then we hear the story of what got him in jail. Wow! Just crazy what can happen!
Loved meeting this family!! They all have such different personalities. I look forward to watching them grow as their stories are written.
Overall its an excellent beginning to a new series. I enjoy this author’s writing and the stories she comes up with are always wonderful. I look forward to more in this series!

This book was a real tear jerker for me as I put myself in her shoes and relate to so many things Carina is feeling in this novel. Sometimes losses are not that big but impact you in a way that you could not even fathom.
Carina in her post covid world, after suffering several tragedies through the year with losing people close to her, is trying to build her world back up after being knocked around. With Christmas coming up, it seems her husband and kids have other ideas about the holidays leaving her feeling more alone than ever. Enter Max, from her support group, who offers her his cabin in the mountains to rest, relax, and get away. The cabin itself has enough room for her whole family but they seem as if they have moved on with their own lives and she is being left in the dust. Can Carina take this extravagant opportunity for herself?
This book had me all in my feelings as I am dealing with my own personal stuff to the point that the Christmas spirit is super hard to come by in my household. This feels like a rebuilding yourself book especially when several of us are looking to do just that. It reminds us that it is okay to take time for yourself, as you cannot be everything to everyone else all the time. If you like feel good novels where you might come out with a different look on life than I definitely recommend reading this book.

Faultless Love is a truly engaging contemporary romance. This is a second chance romance that had all the feelings. There’s drama, angst, demons from the past and steamy moments throughout this story. This is the first book in The Bennett of Langston Falls Series and I loved it. This can be read as a stand-alone, as each book focuses on one of the brothers, but I can’t wait for book 2, Shameless.

Robyn had dreams of graduating law school and becoming a lawyer. But, those dreams were put on hold after she saw the justice system fail and the man she loved was taken away from her. She has tried to move on and be happy…but one look at Teddy when he comes home is enough to remind her that he is her happiness.
They face numerous challenges as they navigate finding what their new relationship looks like…and keeping Teddy out of trouble with his parole. But, when the justice system once again proves to be unfair, can their relationship survive?
This was an interesting story that had some twists that I did not see coming. I enjoyed the characters and watching Teddy make amends with those that he feels he has wronged. I couldn’t quite figure out the way one of the characters was acting as the story was wrapping up…and seeing that he is the main character of the next book made it make more sense. Overall, a good story.

Faultless Love is the first book in The Bennetts of Langston Falls and is a Second chance Contemporary Romance that once you start reading there’s no putting it down until you’ve finished . Im a huge fan of this author and her style of writing and attention to detail along with fully developed characters make for a wonderfully written story. I pretty much devoured this book in one afternoon I couldn’t make myself stop reading I was totally invested in these characters and I had to know how everything was going to play out . Teddy is fresh out of prison on parole and just wants to go back to his hometown and try to restart his life or should I say try to get back to a new normal. Teddy was wrongfully sent to prison and spent several years in. Now he just wants to get his one year of probation out of the way and be done with it all but things never go has you plan. Then there’s Robyn the girl he left behind and the one whom he never forgot. Their paths cross again but can they get a second chance at a relationship? This had my emotions on high alert and my heart broke for Teddy and Robyn. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. It’s definitely worth the read and one that will be going on the list of re-reads. Im looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
