Think back to your high school days, when you wanted to be part of the popular crowd or at least keep out of their way so they didn’t target you. The Lie that Binds takes you back there. The cool crowd is cool. Nobody wants others to know they are different. The cliques are real.

When Holly moves to town, she just wants to fit in, but finds that the group she wants to fit in with are unkind and downright mean. She sees Nathan and instantly wants to connect with him, but he is in that group that she is actively trying to stay away from. Little does Nathan know, she is going to change his life – she is going to understand him a level nobody in the high school understands him. He has a secret and does everything he can to keep it from getting out.

This story has love, romance, steam and friendship. If you want to take a ride back in time to relive your high school days, the excitement of first love, and drama, give it a read!

This was my first read in the series and by this author and I wasn’t lost. This book is right up my alley in the romance department, as I am a sucker for this type of stories. I really enjoyed the POV changes and didn’t find them hard to keep up with like I have with other books. This book does a great job of pulling you into it. I’m planning on reading the other two books just to hear the other sister’s stories but it’s definitely not a necessity!

Before reading The Lie That Binds by Amy Argent I thought I was not going to like it because I love books with thrills and page-turners. Never thought this book was going to make me feel like I am on the edge of a cliff. SO many emotions and pain n in this story between Holly and Nathan. Amazing characters and so many details in their feeling for one another. But when lies and secrets start to flow onto the surface things start to get hard for the main characters they will do anything to keep it in. This book is amazing and the Author Amy Argent is amazing for
my first time reading something that I can compare to myself. 5 out of 5 stars

This book was an interesting YA romance to say the least. I originally picked up this book due to the eye catching front cover, amd the interesting synopsis. However upon starting this book I couldn’t consume it fast enough. This book had so many emotions it made me laugh, made me cry, it even made me go back to my teenage years. The characters are so realistic, and the plot line has you feeling like your walking along side the characters in high school. So if your looking for a great new read, make sure to pick this up today.

This is the only book in the Firehouse 13 series that I have read and all I can say is that I need to run, not walk to get the first 3 books in this series! Solomon Fox is a local hero to everyone except himself. Yes he saved 2 kids that will be able to live their life, but it cost him his career. Now what is he supposed to do? His body has healed from the burns but his mind has not. Ember is 11 years younger than Sol and is still working at the firehouse he retired from. She has held Sol in a special place for a while. He was an inspiration to her as well as her mentor in the department. She sees him struggle. Can she help him in finding where he belongs since he can no longer be a firefighter?

Oh my lanta this book! I adore the point of view changes and seeing into the minds of both Nathan and Holly. I love Holly’s personality – a little shy, a little sass, and a hint of fire – and the way she will stand up for her friends, even when she’s scared. I enjoy the complexity of Nathan – even as he surrounds himself with people who seem to lack that same complexity – and his relationship with his family. Most of all though, I really like the realistic way that high school is represented. This book brings to mind those by Sarah Dessen with a relatable high school or college age person, the real problems they face, and their relationships that are built on truth even when it hurts. So if you enjoy reading Sarah Dessen, I absolutely recommend this book!

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book but I definitely enjoyed it.

Holly is the new girl at school. Almost immediately she can tell who the popular kids are and she finds out pretty quick what type of people they are. Just from her observations m, she assumes they are all alike. That is until she lays into Nathan and then inadvertently learns his secret. Nathan will do anything to keep his secret. He’s honestly confused that Holly doesn’t just blab it right away but he will keep the secret from getting out. Holly and Nathan start spending more time together and things evolve from there. A good lesson in things are more than as they appear.

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down! Holly is a contradiction but in a relatable way. She’s sassy and self assured as that voice in her head but when it comes to actually standing up for herself she’s insecure and quiet. At first I didn’t like Nathan but you quickly learn there is more than meets the eye with him and he grew on me during this roller coaster of a book. I definitely recommend!

This was interesting read. I wasn’t too into it when I first started reading it, but as I kept on it really picked up and I enjoyed it by the end. One thing that really made this difficult for me to get into, well two things, is that one it read to me like a Twilight fan fiction kind of novel. I almost felt like I was back in Forks with the vampires until I got several chapters in and was able to separate the two. The second thing was all the nicknames. One every once awhile was ok but Holly, the female main character, just kept on with the nickname/name calling and it’s ine aspect I personally didn’t enjoy. Overall this was enjoyable read, and while it wasn’t my favorite I would definitely read more from this author in the future!

Holly moves into a new town and a new school… could she be one of the cool kids.

She finds herself however making her own clan as the cool kids are not kids Holly likes… but when she inadvertently discovers the secrets the class bully, and Jock, Nathan has been hiding; she finds herself dating him… only he was dating her to hopefully keep her quiet.

As it happens with teens, feelings develop and this book became more emotional than I would have expected.

Teen angst clicks drama heartache secrets and lies fill this book! I’m a sucker for YA Genre and this didn’t disappoint!

Body Checked is the second book in the Astoria Bay Thunder series by C.J. Cartwright. This is a frenemies to lovers contemporary sports romance with hockey, banter, humour, chemistry, sizzle, emotion, angst, push-pull, trust issues, and a little drama.
This is Bridger and Tia’s story, whom we met in the first book (as secondary characters). Bridger is known for being quite the player, both on and off the ice. Tia has sworn off the playboy types for good. But the chemistry between them is intense and the sparks fly. Add in a wild weekend that results in a bit of an obsession, a few tricky little feelings that creep in, and some push-pull angst- and we have captivating story!
Can’t wait for more Astoria Bay Thunder!

I love the different quotes at the beginning of each chapter! This was a great read that really digs into the characters and their feelings. You get to read from Holly and Nathan’s perspective which I really enjoyed. For being young they have some pretty adult and intense situations to overcome. I love how detailed the author was with their writing, it really helps you get into the story. I will say there are some pretty adult and very descriptive scenes that may not be ok for all readers/ages.

High school, full of bullies, cliques, and doing your very best to fit in. The book starts with Holly who just started out at a new high school. She wants to get in with the cool kids, like any girl her age would, but she quickly finds out that teenagers can be cruel. Nathan is a jerk, but there is so much more than meets the eye. Intriguing from the start, you find out about what Nathan is really hiding. His secrets lead to more between him and Holly, and the story that evolves is one that will keep the pages turning almost of their own volition. The story had its slow parts, but in general, it was compelling enough to keep you invested. At the start, I thought it was going to be more focused on the bullying and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. As the story moves forward, there is more to it. Takes you back to that young age where what your friends thought about you felt like the most important thing in the world. I recommend this book if you enjoy a clique high school dynamic, a web of secrets, and characters that have more depth to them then they let on!

Nathan, Holly, and the entire cast of characters are phenomenal in this story. The author took time to fully develop each character’s story, which makes the story all the more real. Nathan is trying his best to hide himself and his condition from the entire school. Unfortunately for him the new girl discovers his biggest fear. This story teaches us very quickly the power that a lie can have, and how continuing to hold that lie creates more lies, leading to destruction! This one gets a bit steamy so be forewarned!

This is a pretty enjoyable short story. It is quite a quick paced book due to its length but it was easy enough to get in to. The boom lacked a little bit of depth, which at times I felt could have easily been added without losing the novel feel to it, however it soon picked back up again.
The characters were easy to connect with and fit with the story well. I liked that we got to see things from the dual perspective and for me that made the book. This is a quick and easy read that is enjoyable from staff to finish.

This book is written by an author that I am very familiar with as I have read several of her books. I always know I will not be disappointed, and this was no different. She writes for young adults in a way that keeps adults mesmerized with not only the storyline but the characters as well. You feel like you know them. At least I do. The main male protagonist reminds me of so many males that I went to school with that at times I was so enraged thinking back to my high school years. I highly recommend that you read this story. Or if you have young adult readers in your home you encourage them to read it. They will thoroughly enjoy it just as much as you do.

The Mastermind is the first book in the WaterFyre series by Nadia Han. This is also her debut title, which is pretty impressive! As someone who has been actively exploring the romance genre, I really appreciated this story! The story centers around Audri Wu and one of her brother’s best friends, Remington (Remi). Remi not only brings the sexy, but he also brings a lot of dark, dangerous and suspenseful vibes to the story as Audri tries to navigate one of the oldest taboos…don’t mess with your brother’s best friend! Definitely recommend this title as it’s a nice mixture of suspense and sexy. Looking forward to more of this series!

This story touches on the devastating trigger points of miscarriage and infertility.
Like the previous member of the Titans (Caspian) Anton is foot loose and fancy free, money is no object and fame has brought him notoriety. His money cannot but happiness without heartache.
He meets his match in Elsa Fitzgerald who is a career orientated strong woman.
We follow their relationship and observe it grow, love is amazing, everyone is happy. Until they are not: Pregnancy is never easy especially when your husband is married to his career. Things are thrown off of kilter when Elsa loses her baby then fights after to find like many do that it is an infertility issue, stress and emotions run high in this book. Relationship stress and the emotional rollercoaster take you on the ups and downs that many of us face.
An emotional read that may not suit everyone but rest assured they get their Happy Ever After.

Then she gets a photo shoot that brings her business doing a calendar for Astoria Bay Thunder the Hockey team. This is a dream come true but when she realizes the team captain is Levi Fawkes it is with mixed feelings.

Levi always regretted the one who got away, seeing Brynn he realizes she is the girl he has thought about for years. Can Levi convince Brynn he is worth a second chance?

This book was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the chemistry between Levi and Brynn, their introduction is not smooth sailing and it was riddled with humor. Brynn is feisty and the banter she has with the other characters is hilarious. Levi is the broody one and he owns it throughout the book. Wonderful start to a new series.

An entertaining YA contemporary romance, which had me hooked from start to finish. Nathan, is a liar, he lies to protect himself, because he has a secret, and by lying he gets to keep his secret. One which he believes will destroy everything in his life if it were to be discovered. Nathan is also one of the popular guys at school, and together they terrorise the unpopular kids. When new girl Holly joins the school she becomes Nathan’s unwilling lab partner, she hates him because of who he’s become. However, only Nathan knows that he’s only bullying others to keep anyone getting too close to him and discovering his secret.
Then Holly does find out Nathan’s secret, and he’s determined to do whatever he has to in order to keep her quiet, but he soon learns that the most damaging lie is the one he’s been telling himself. This is an intriguing story, set in a high school and has all the angst you would expect amongst teenagers, the setting and characters are brought to life through the descriptive narrative, and I felt as though I was back at school! The storyline has an added twist to it with Nathan’s lie, and the consequences of the choices he makes to keep it hidden, especially in terms of his relationship with Holly. This was an enjoyable and engaging different take on first love and it took me on a rollercoaster of emotions whilst I was reading it.

Holly is the new kid, having moved to a new city with her father, a sheriff, after the passing of her mother. Like every high school student, she’s dreading going to a new school and is hoping to fit in with the right people.
Nathan is the classic jock – handsome, fit, popular, and a jerk.
When it quickly becomes apparent Holly isn’t going to fit in with the popular crowd, she finds friends that become her tribe. Still slightly intrigued by Nathan, but also recognizing him for the jerk he is, she’s equally drawn to him and disgusted by his behavior. After an incident where he helped embarrass a classmate, she confronts him; then, everything changes. She discovers Nathan has a secret he’s been keeping from nearly everyone around him for the past couple of years.
He panics and waits for the fallout of Holly telling everyone, but when she doesn’t, his brother convinces him he should sweeten her up a bit to make sure she doesn’t change her mind. After holding onto his burden for so long alone, Nathan finds Holly to be a caring confidante, and the two start dating. All’s well until another girl who’s been pining for Nathan for years, outs Nathan’s other secret – that he only started talking to Holly to keep her quiet.
While the overall story was good, and I found the book to be very informative about Nathan’s secret, I wasn’t as impressed with the cliched high school tropes; I also felt like the main characters could have had a bit more depth beyond Nathan’s secret and Holly’s caring (and borderline codependent) nature towards him.

Secrets always have a way of coming out.

Amy Argent is brilliant! This book is very emotionally raw and sad at times. Make sure you have some tissues near you! This book goes to show that even the “toughest” of people have the biggest of struggles.

Nathan, Super popular, super Gorgeous, and a jackass. There’s more to him then just that though. He’s been holding onto a secret for the past two years. Then insert new student… What happens when she sees something she isn’t supposed to? What’s Nathan’s plan? Or what’s his brother’s plan?

Holly is shy, timid, and non-confrontational. Starting a new school is hard, especially when you’re not popular. But she’s taking a stand, heading straight to the popular kids and not taking no for an answer…. BUT it’s high school, easier said then done, right?

What happens when she sees something she isn’t supposed to? Is this something she can use to her advantage to be with the “in crowd”? How will Nathan keep her from telling the whole school his secret?

The Lie That Binds by Amy Argent. This is such a good young adult romance. Its the typical new girl at school not fitting in. Holly is the new girl and of course she doesn’t fit in with the popular kids. Nathan is one of the popular kids but he has a secret and he will do anything to protect that secret. When he and Holly become lab partners not happily I might add, Holly develops a crush on Nathan. Holly is tormented by all the cool kids so Nathan is devastated that he has to be her partner. When she accidentally finds out his secret he will do whatever it takes for her to keep it. They decided to act like they are dating and as they spend more time together Nathan realizes he really likes her. Holly’s brother also helps them with this secret. Remembering how things like this secret could be devastating to a high schooler makes this book seem so real. Will Holly keep Nathan’s secret or will he end up just telling everyone. Really good standalone read! I feel like it could be required reading in high school! Good lesson!

The Lie That Binds is a book that could have really happened in the “real world”. The attention to detail is what makes this book interesting. The ability of this author to present her work in such a real way is a treat. It has been a long time since I have read a book that I felt like I was really in the book with the characters. Speaking of the characters, they are fully developed and complicated. This story is told from Nathan’s perspective. He is a “popular boy”. He does not like to close to anyone because they will see the truth about him. Holly does just that. What happens because she does know the truth? I highly recommend this book to find out what happens to Nathan and Holly.

What an amazing story! This took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I hated, then liked and then felt honored to read this full tale. While reading I was shocked and surprised more than once at what happens, the cast’s reactions and actions. The characters all have wonderful traits that add or detract from the overall book. Some I loved and felt empathy for and others I could do without but realize their necessity for the storyline. I loved the growth that not only the two main personalities had but a lot of the secondary ones too.

This is my first book by this author. I felt it may be a little long at times but the weaving of it is perfect. I became entranced by Holly and Mr Gorgeous as we learned their feelings and secrets (good and bad unfiltered) as they struggle to survive and try to hold their place in high school.

That epilogue was wonderfully done! I loved learning how everything was navigated at the end.

Well after the mess I was in after the previous book I was nervous to delve into this one but I just had to discover more , I’m invested in these men and their lives 😉

Hello , what’s not a draw card here !? He’s hot , he’s an eligible bachelor, wealthy , famous and owner of one of the hottest nightclubs in town ….

Marcus’s work ethic is don’t miss business with pleasure and his lifestyle is casual as in them and leave , no commitment. BUT having said that every man has a weak spot and it just take the right woman to bring him to his knees ….

Ryhann, Miss twinkle toes herself 😉a talented ballerina that earned herself a scholarship and soon trade county life for big city life and that costs , desperate times call for desperate measures and I feel like a butterfly caught in a spiders web …..

Ryhann starts dancing at Mason’s club and it’s not long and she catches his attention …

Watching things unfold between them is like watching a hot tango 🔥and they were simply made for each other ! Yes their journey had its twist , drama and steam but good things come to those who wait 😉

Again the cover-art is just amazing ♥️ I’m even more excited to dive into this book than the previous one ! #truestory#

Anton is the golden boy , he has all his desires , fame , fortune , wealth , career and he’s at the top of his game both in career and life , he really does seem to have it all 🤷‍♀️

Elsa , comes from a wealthy family , blue blood if you like and it seems she’s won the heart of one our very delectable Titan men …

All is not as it seems and every fairytale has a villian or a dark side and our folks are no exception to the rule . Sometimes life has to bring us to our knees , to humble us to make us realise what we have , wake up and smell the roses grab life and love , live and love it , every day is a gift and should be treated as such .

This was a hard read for me and there were a few triggers that one should be aware of . It was a real and real read and I almost don’t want to share their story and all they’ve been through . I cried hard but loved even harder ❣️

Drama, emotion and soul searching
This is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series. I have read several books by this author so I was excited to dive in and I was not disappointed. Some parts are highly emotional and the romance isn’t a bed of roses either. Sol takes some getting used to as he is so full of angst and pain. A highly charged read.
