3.8/5 Stars This book is a short, fast paced romance. Ember is a new fire fighter that’s in love with her old mentor, Sol. Sol is struggling mentally due to an accident that has left him scarred. This book begins to dive into the importance of mental health in men which is a huge topic. I’m glad to see Sol in therapy and taking the right steps to better himself and work through his trauma.

Wow! What a read this was. I really am at a loss for words but wanted to try and get my thoughts out while still fresh and I can’t even form a cohesive sentence without gushing about how great this story was.
This author draws you right in and you are taken through the emotional ups and downs and loops until you are trying to turn the page and there is no more pages left. I will be reading more by this author and cannot wait for the second in this series.
There just is not enough words in my vocabulary at this time to express how much I loved this book

I’m always up for a best friend/little sister romance and then author throws some suspense in the mix, you know you will love it! She does an amazing job right from the beginning grabbing our interest and drawing you in quickly. The characters are easy to connect to and you love them from the start. This my first read by this author and I’m in lust with this book and can’t wait to read more of this amazing series.

This contemporary romance was incredible. When I first found this series I was a little worried about trying it just due to the fact that the series is written by several different authors. But I was definitely wrong, this author like the others provided us with a novel full of emotions, angst, romance, chemistry, hope and so much more. The characters are amazing, the plot was interesting, and the series as a whole has really blown me away. So if your looking for a new romance read to pick up this week, then make sure you take a look into this one.

I’m a huge fan of a story that can be short but doesn’t make you notice that it is. While it’s a shorter read it wasn’t hindered in anyway. I truly felt an easy connection to the characters and the overall storyline and that’s not always easy but this author did it very well. From page one I couldn’t put it down and finished it rather quickly and enjoyed all of it. There’s just something about these two characters that spoke a little deeper to me and I’ll remember them for a while. If you’re looking for an amazing shorter read I highly recommend this story. Four big stars!

Such a cute and quick romantic read (because you won’t want to put it down). This is book 3 in The Meraki series. I do recommend that you read the other books, but this is fine as a standalone. This is the story of Krystina and Loukas as they journey from childhood friends to frenemies to realizing that Love is definitely worth fighting for. This book definitely hits all your heart strings! You really can’t help loving the characters Effie Kammenou did an outstanding job.

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13 Book 4) by Danielle Jacks. I really enjoyed this book. Its the story of Sol who is a retired Firefighter who is feeling like he he has lost his purpose after a accident and has pretty much become an alcoholic to numb the pain. Ember who is a new fire department recruit wants Sol to get help but knows that Sol has to want to be helped first. Sol is so very bitter about everything that happened but Ember really wants to help him. As they spend more and more time together Ember finally gets Sol to talk about what happens. Ember is so passionate about her job but she is finding out that she is just as passionate about Sol. Will they be able to work past Sol’s demons and have a meaningful relationship or will Sol self destruct. Read Burned by Fire to find out!

The Mastermind is a great book. I loved reading it. The way the characters are developed and the way that past traumas brings them close. The need to protect and the yearning for something you can’t have. I really enjoyed reading this book and can not wait to read the rest of the series.

TIa out of work and helping her best friend with a photography job, manages to keep Bridger and his friends organized in a photo shoot. Tia has skeletons of her own and is trying to stay out of the spotlight so that she doesn’t draw the attention of an ex that is trying and so far successful at destroying her life. I absolutely love this series and this book was a wonderful addition to it. As always this author 100% transports me to wherever her stories are set with her beautiful descriptive language. Having previously met the main character in the first two books it was really nice to finally read Krystina’s story. I do like a frenemy to lovers story and this one is probably one of my favourites that I have read and actually one of my favourites from this author. The author really brought to life the feelings between the two main characters, especially Krystina. I liked the angst, the emotions, the relationship between Krystina and Loukas and also the relationship between Krystina and her sisters Mia and Kally. This really was a lovely story to read, although the third in the series it could easily be read as a standalone however having read the previous two I would also highly recommend them also! As always I look forward to read more from this author again in the future.

This is book 3 in the Meraki series but in my opinion, this can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed how the characters interact in this author’s stories; they feel so real and I got very invested. This was the most intense read of the series, the mysterious circumstances surrounding her grandfather had me turning the pages for answers. Krystina went through a lot in the story and at times it was heartbreaking and emotional, Another fantastic story for this author.

This is book 2 in the Meraki series but in my opinion, this can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed how the characters interact in this author’s stories; they feel so real and I got very invested. The author is very good at portraying family dynamics. Another fantastic read from this author.

Journey alongside this couple as they navigate life, careers and a stallion named Storm Cloud on their way to an exciting happily ever after!
Having read the first book I was curious to see how a relationship between Bridger and Tia would turn out. The author left us little nibbles here and there in the first book and definitely made us want to read more. Bridger is a playboy who is trying to clean up his image. Tia seems to have a bit of a wild side, but she is done with the bad boy type. How can she say no to a weekend long fling with one of the hottest men on the ice? Neither of them are looking for more, but will they catch feelings? The synopsis left states near the end that these can be read as by themselves, but I highly recommend reading them in order. Many of the characters are reoccurring and there may be little easter eggs about what is to come in other books.

This was a shorter novella. While the story line is there and the main characters, Sol and Ember, each have their connections to the storyline this story could have been really amazing. I am of the thought that the more details you put into both the storyline and the characters the better the story. That said it was a cute short romance read and was enjoyable. I would read another story by this author.

Firehouse 13 is a 12-part series with each book written by one of 12 amazing authors. Set in a small town called Armstrong and centred around the firehouse sparks fly and temperatures burn in more than one way.
Danielle’s Burned by Fire is the fourth book in the series. It is one story where things are highly emotional and full of drama, angst, pain, stubbornness, and sacrifice. There is hard earned romance and it kept the pages turning but it was over too soon.
Sol is a bitter, bitter man and can’t see where is place in the world is anymore. He has lost the one thing he loves. Now he is looking for answers in the bottom of a bottle but could one beautiful woman change things?
Ember maybe doing what she loves but now something or someone is missing. Could the one thing she wants now be a reality?

Burned By Fire by Danielle Jacks is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series, a multi-author collaboration. It is a bit of an angsty and emotional contemporary romance. A story about finding love unexpectedly, with a friends to lovers theme, firefighters, mentor/mentee relationship, age gap, secret crush, struggles with mental health issues, losing yourself to your inner demons, chemistry, connection, finding purpose, hope, and love. It has some really sweet moments, but this isn’t a light and fluffy read. The story is emotional as we observe our MC struggle with his inner demons. Sol had lost himself when he had to retire early from the fire department due to injury. He gets stuck in a downward spiral of self-pity, regret, and alcohol. He had lost sight of everything that mattered and now risks losing everything. Will the rookie ignite a new passion for him? Will he take a chance, grab hold of a lifeline, find a way to conquer his demons, find love, and discover a new purpose? I love Danielle Jacks stories; they always find a way to burrow under my skin and into my heart. I think Sol and Ember were perfect for each other, but things weren’t ‘easy’ for them, and they had to work to find their happiness. I did enjoy the book, but I would’ve loved to have read a longer version of this story, as the story felt a bit rushed in places. I would have like more time to fully appreciate the characters and their emotive story.

This was an enjoyable, short read. The story is told from the perspectives of each of the main characters, Sol and Ember. Sol is trying to reckon with injury and pain of losing his life’s path and Ember’s career is starting to take off. Though younger than Sol, she’s always had a crush and it may finally be the right time to explore her crush, while also helping Sol find his way back to life. The feelings and steam between the characters is palpable.
Overall, this was an enjoyable story with fairly well developed characters; however there were time I was hoping for more depth. The story moves at a fast pace due to its length, but the reader is fulfilled in a complete story. This can be read in a single sitting and was worth the time.

If you’ve been reading this series then you’re probably invested in this family like I am. So much happened in book 3. From Yiayiá to “Minnie”, everyone had life lessons to learn. My heart broke for Yiayiá. I cried when she cried. I hurt for Loukas. I was extremely happy for Mia. This one really hit home because it covered the pandemic. Reading how it affected other people struck a cord with me. I know alot of people don’t like seeing it played out in what they watch or read because the world is still recovering from it but I think it’s important. Not everyone was affected the same. Anyways for a second I thought Krystina and Loukas wasn’t going to make it. I’m glad they did. I can’t wait to learn more about Theo’s relationship. I hope he found the one. Every member of this family deserves love and happiness.

Steamy and sassy frenemies to lovers’ sports romance is what Body Checked is about. The hot Astoria Bay Thunder hockey team are characters that you will fall in love with, well mostly. The battle of wills, the wit and their antics and back-and-forth banter make a fun read. I found myself laughing out loud. I really enjoyed the first book and this one was no different. I read it within a day. Sizzling chemistry, stubbornness, obsession, trust issues and of course hockey games had me turning page after page in this feel-good interesting tale that had me immersed in their world.
Bridger and Tia’s story beings with a no-strings-attached wild weekend. One weekend where sparks fly. Rules: No strings and no feelings allowed. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!

First off I love this family. You feel the love for one another in every page and can’t help but love them too. I nearly had a heart attack when Mia thought she was being fired. But sometimes change is really for the best. I enjoyed reading about her and Nick’s adventure. Watching their love develop was beautiful, not perfect. Overcoming their own traumas and letting each other in was not easy but worth it. I think Mia and Nick are perfect for each other and I hope we get to “hear” wedding bells in the future.

I’ve always been fascinated with Greek culture. It’s on my bucket list of places to see. This story gave me a insight to that. From the close knit family to the food I enjoyed every part of this story. Yiayiá is a firecracker. She added so much to the story. The recipes are amazing and I cannot wait to cook some of them up. I believe Melina is so strong. Not a lot off people could stay after what happened. Egypt reminds me so much of a relative of mine. Free spirited and full of spunk. It was so easy to get lost in this story. I highly recommend it.

This cute little romance was definitely a good one. While I have read the previous two books in this series you don’t necessarily have to. However If you want to get more of a feel for the authors writing style and characters rhen I would recommend reading the series. The characters are unique, full of emotions, passion, and chemistry and they’ll pull you straight into their story. Krystina is our main character in this novel and we follow her on a journey of determining if it’s ok to fight for what you want. But will she fight for what she wants? You’ll have to read this fast-paced romance to find put for yourself.

Love is Worth Fighting for by Effie Kammenou is book three in the Meraki series. Book three follows Krystina who we have seen totally being annoyed by Loukas throughout books one and two so definitely read in order. I have been waiting for these two to figure out what the deal is and I’m so happy with how it ended. We finally get some answers from the family secret too and let me just tell you how heart wrenching that was. But it really was great that the youngest sister was able to figure it out. This one was such a quick read as I was so invested in the characters lives by this point. I love how loyal Loukas is dispute his personal life. And although Krystina can hold a grudge forever, she eventually comes around as she’s missed her best friend. I really hope book four follows their brother, Theo!

Love by Design by Effie Kammenou is book two in the Meraki series. Book two follows Mia who we didn’t see much in book one but oh boy is she funny and relatable. I quite enjoyed the flow of this book and thought it was easier to follow than the first. Although I admit it was a little hard to like Nicholas. The point, maybe. And having a past as he did would make anyone harden. Working together at a news magazine, Mia and Nicholas have to learn to navigate their love – hate relationship with one another. I am immensely jealous of the beautiful locations they went to for the magazine. I was quite pleased that the family secret was carried into the second book but I am hoping for a resolution here soon with book 3!

Love is What You Bake of It by Effie Kammenou is book one in the Meraki series. I knew that it was going to have a different vibe and at first I wasn’t sure if I liked it. However by the end, I was enjoying the book a lot. There were a few different views in the story as well as different years. Not terribly difficult to follow but sometimes confusing. I admit though I was definitely thrown for a loop. Just as I thought the story was about to end I realized I was only a little over halfway. Kally and Max have each had a rough past and are trying to move on from them. I really enjoyed the Greek culture in the book, I had to look a few things up – it wasn’t necessary, I just liked to learn the words – but it wasn’t difficult to follow. I am very curious about one particular character and I am hoping to figure that out further into the series!
