Slow Burn (Breathing Hearts, #2)Slow Burn by A.K. MacBride
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Slow Burn: An Enemies to Lovers Romance by A.K. MacBride is the second book in the Breathing Hearts series. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
This book completely caught me by surprise. I was expecting a typical romance story like most within this genre.
Instead I thought this book was so full of emotion that I couldn’t help but be drawn in. It really does take you on a journey of feelings. I loved each of these characters and the way they seemed to fit with other just right. They were each what the other person needed and neither of them were “perfect”.
This is a new author to me and I loved this introduction to her work. I thought the book was absolutely fantastic and I am looking forward to reading more.

It was a short, quick read. I thought Willa and Brody were sweet together. Overall, the plot was very light and things moved along. The conflict with Hayden and Carmody made sense to the story. I would have wished for just a little bit more depth overall. In the end though, it was a cute story.

Oh. I needed this story so much right now. It had me hooked from the beginning. I adore Dahlia! She is an unstoppable force! She refuses to let anything stand in her way. She set out to prove to herself she can do it and she did. That includes her used to be best friend Levi. They are pushed together for a project. Will their hearts get pushed back together again? I loved their chemistry and just connection. I pinky swear you won’t regret reading this series!! I could not recommend this more!!

Dylan O’Day has been an exemplary marine biologist for years, constantly devoted to the protection and preservation of the natural world. He’s never met a person quite like Kyra before, someone so genuine and caring, and who understands his love of environmental conservation. Kyra Shine began interning only a few months ago at the Merchant Marine Science Centre and she’s already crushing hard on the boss’ son. Jake Merchant might be the bad boy of the team, but he seems perfect. They share a love of nature, especially the ocean and spend their days watching over the endangered turtles nesting along the coast. Caught by Him by Tammy Mannersly – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Caught by HimCaught by Him by Tammy Mannersly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This quick read is full of insta-love and drama.

When Brody Nash takes some time away from filming movies to get into character for an upcoming role, he is shocked to find someone breaking into the house next door. When he finds out the would-be criminal is the granddaughter of the house’s owner…he lets her go on her way. But there is something about her that Brody is drawn to. He’s not looking for a relationship, but he definitely wants to spend more time with Willa. But…his new assistant seems to have a thing for him and doesn’t seem to want him and Willa to be together.

Willa’s first encounter with her neighbor for the next few months is when she is climbing over the gate because she can’t seem to find the right key. She finds the new man to be good looking, intriguing, and somewhat familiar. Even if she knows she needs to spend her time working, she wants to spend more time getting to know Brody. Their relationship heats up quickly…but why is her ex showing up at her grandfather’s place. And why does Brody’s assistant seem to be working with her ex to split them up?

This is an insta-romance that is a very quick read and just enough drama to keep it interesting. Brody and Willa are both great characters that seem to balance each other out. You can tell from the get-go that the assistant and the ex are not gonna be good people. I enjoyed this quick-paced book.

This was a short opposites attractive insta-love story.
Brody is a Hollywood actor trying to take a break before his next role. Willa is a free spirit house sitting her grandfather’s place next door.
From the moment they meet there is an instant attraction and Brody starts to realise that he’s been missing something in his life. Willa has an ex that won’t take no for an answer but finds that Brody could be the first guy she might want to settle down with.
These two were so sweet with each other, both finding an instant attraction to the other.
I did not like meddling Carmody, and I’m not sure why she was allowed to stick around for so long. Hayden, the ex, was kind of likeable but also an idiot.
Even though this story was short, you got to know the characters as they got to know each other.

I loved this short and sweet whirlwind romance between Brody and Willa. A story of 2 strangers that meet in the night, through a strange mishap, that instantly have a connection. The best part about this book was the banter and playfulness that the characters had. As a girl who loves a good romance novel, for as much banter as the two had, I was wishing for a little more detail in the sex department. The most endearing part, for me however, was the fact that Brody handled himself, as to what I believe, a true man should. He was kind, supportive, patient, caring, sexy, playful, down to earth, but also driven. Lets just say Willa wasn’t the only girl falling in love with him!!

Slow Burn (Breathing Hearts, #2)Slow Burn by A.K. MacBride
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have seen countless reviews for this book claiming that five stars simply aren’t enough to explain how amazing it is.. and I am in 100% agreement with all of these reviewers! A.K. did such an amazing job with this story and I am looking forward to going through everything she has to offer and absorbing every word.
Adam and Maddie’s story is something incredible. He has a tough history and is hard to approach, grumpier than a normal 30-something-year-old man, and has forgotten all the potential good he has to offer. Maddie has been struggling with her family about her life choices for as long as she can remember and feels as though she cannot please them while staying true to herself. It is in the peace they find watching each other and getting to know each other that they are able to slowly put themselves back together and push past those hard things to create better futures for themselves. Slow burn is an adequate description of this story, but it is ABSOLUTELY worth the wait.

Slow Burn by A.K. Macbride is book two of the Breathing Hearts series. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down!

Maddie’s new neighbor is kind of a mystery. She never sees him leave and she hasn’t even met him. She finally sees him in passing and boy is he rude.

Maddie is trying to work through her failure at dancing and her lack of support from any of her family. Luckily, he grandmother left her the house with the great view of the beach. Adam moved to hideout and live with his grief and guilt. Both of them have their own demons to work through but they are certainly drawn together. After all Maddie does say “Your broken parts were made to fit mine”. Adam has made a lot of progress after a few weeks but when Maddie invites him to her mom’s birthday party things go off the rails. Will these two be able to work passed all their baggage to be together?

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great. They held so much emotion you couldn’t help but feel it for them. I highly recommend this book!

Slow Burn: An Enemies to Lovers Romance (Breathing Hearts Book 2) by A.K. MacBride is a sweet, sad and funny story. A beachfront cottage and a sexy but grumpy neighbour. This is a heart-breaking and heart-warming tale where an unlikely pair who can’t stand each other but are attracted to each other navigate one another. There is a lot of emotions in this story and both of our characters have had tragedy and loss in their lives, but can they come out the other side in one piece? It is told in dual POV which gives it more depth and understanding of the characters. The true hero in this story is Fugly who will melt your heart and have you laughing.

Fight for It (Sunset Cove) by Amy L. Gale is a quick and easy sweet contemporary romance. This sports novella is just what you need to escape real life for a few hours. I really enjoyed this story and the characters but wished the story was longer. With Ray returning to his small-town home after an injury forces him to give up boxing, he soon reconnects with his best friend’s sister. Ray and Alyssa both have their own demons from past relationships to work through. Starting over is just what they need and never thought they would have but together they might just heal.

I for one can not wait to read the next book in this series!!

The Don (Her Three Immortals Book 1) by Hazel Storm – Review by Alexandria Richard

The DonThe Don by Hazel Storm

Despite the title making this book seem like a mafia book, it’s not. Grey is the “Don of the Underworld,” come to earth to barter vices so he can collect 100 souls. Once on earth Grey meets Vanessa, a hairdresser who seems otherworldly, and is desperately trying to find a way to save her 12 year-old brother who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

This is a why-choose romance, where we’re introduced to Grey, Raef, and briefly, Aroz, all sons of an all powerful god, Zeus, though he’s not specifically named.

I’m typically a fan of the Greek Mythos, as well as why-choose or Reverse Harem romances, therefore I’m really enjoying this series. I enjoyed getting to know the men and see how they reacted to Vanessa. There’s of course Grey, and his abstinent ways. He comes across as an ass at times but he has his reasons. Raef is like the perfect billionaire you didn’t know existed, and only does in romance novels. He’s sweet, caring, and oh no hot for Vanessa. Then there’s Aroz, who just wants to see Vanessa so he can know who is making his mother crazy, but of course he messes things up by shooting one of his arrows. We’ll just have to see what transpires next with him.

While there are some spicier scenes I enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t overdone and was more of a tease to whet the appetite. I can’t wait to see where this series goes and how it all plays out in the end.

Book 1 does end on a semi-cliffhanger, but there is a sneak-peek of book 2, so not a complete cliffy.

It’s been a while since I read a book by Tammy Mannersly. After the first chapter, I remembered why her books are so good. Brody and Willa had a rough start with a misunderstanding, then it turned into an opposite attraction but wait let’s also throw in an ex into the mix. Charlie and Trent aka Tank, have known each other almost their whole lives. Tank is Charlies brothers best friend and she has always been attracted to him.
The sparks were flying with these two and I was here for it!
Brothers best friend books are my weakness as I love to see how the brother takes it.

I was so wrapped up in this story and I hope I get to read more, maybe Jude’s book? Or a wedding novella of these 2? Amazing read.

Caught By Him by Tammy Mannersly was a well written short story with a quick romance. It was an easy read, but I have to say I am so sad that it was a short story! With Mannersly easy writing style and well put together thoughts, this could have been a whole novel easily!

Following the couple was so much fun, and from the second Carmody’s name is mentioned we know we hate her! Introducing Hayden makes us want to punch him too! While this was quick and to the point, Mannersly makes sure we feel all the emotions.

Slow Burn is the second book in the Breathing Hearts series by A.K MacBride. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. MacBride, so I was interested to see what she had to offer. I like a good slow burn romance and the premise sounded quite promising, so I soon found myself with a copy of my own, ready to explore between the covers.
What I found was a wonderful story full of emotion, self-doubt, pain, starting over, self-discovery, chemistry, sizzle, romance, and hope.
Adam hides his pain behind a gruff and grumpy exterior. His past is a painful burden that weighs heavily on his soul. Maddie’s dreams of a career in dancing- but has gotten a little stuck in her small-town life. Adam pushes people away using rudeness as a way of ensuring no one gets too close. But he wasn’t prepared for the spark of life that Maddie brings into his stagnant and moody world. Will Maddie be able to break down his defences enough to take a chance on love? Or will insecurity, pain, and self-doubt destroy any possibility of happiness?
Like I said earlier, this is a slow burn romance- and at times this story felt extra slow. There were moments of frustration where I wanted to shake these two and tell them to get their act together. But thankfully this didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Thank you, A.K MacBride!

Caught By Him by Tammy Mannersly is a fun opposites attract contemporary romance. This is a story about finding love unexpectedly. I really enjoyed meeting Brady and Willabelle- their story made for a sweet read.
They were really well developed and likeable- it didn’t take long for me to become completely invested in them and their story. connected with them right away. It might have been a case of ‘opposites attract’ to begin with, but they really were perfect for each other.
The story is quite captivating, with some emotion and enough drama to make things quite interesting
Brady is famous movie star and Willa is house sitting the property next door. A lost key brings these two together and so the sparks fly. But will jealousy and interfering exes destroy their chance at happiness!
Another engrossing story from Ms. Mannersly. Looking forward to seeing what she does next.

Thank you, Tammy Mannersly!

Caught by Him by Tammy Mannersly was a cute contemporary romance novella that I really enjoyed reading!
When Brody Nash meets Willabelle Stone he doesn’t know what to do with himself! Willa is helping out her grandfather but accidentally loses the key she was given and has to hope over the gate that leads to the house. A misunderstanding leads these two characters into a whirlwind opposites attract story that kept my attention throughout.
I loved the first encounter these 2 had and the way they got along. The author did a fantastic job of writing this story to include everything you could expect from a contemporary romance including a possible breakup courtesy of an ex.
I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the opportunity to read more of Tammy’s stories and would highly recommend it for someone looking for a short but cute romantic read!

Romancing the Tropics: A Holiday Romance Boxset (A Tropical Cocktail Romance) by L.M. Mountford is yet another outstanding book by an author that is firmly on my must read list! Every time I pick up a book by this author I know it is going to be good – so much so that I no longer even bother to read the descriptions I simply start reading.
Thanks to that I was very pleasantly surprised to find this book was not just 1 book but 2! Although both short stories I was delighted that we got to read even more. And I honestly don’t think I could pick a favourite out of each of these books as I enjoyed them both so much. I absolutely devoured the collection in one sitting and even went back to read these ones again. They are so steamy that you will definitely find yourself a bit hot under the collar.
I loved that both of the stories were different and yet both had my attention in full. I would highly recommend not only these books but this author as well.

Fight for It (Sunset Cove)Fight for It by Amy L. Gale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a beautiful written story, full of ups and downs along with the trails and triumphs of this thing we called life. It was a good read, was a fast paced setting, and I really enjoyed the character development I received from reading this wonderful book

I found even the the main male character was so easy to relate to, Ray, He was a strong athlete, he was a boxer , but sadly an injury caused his career to come to a very quick stop. He starts to pick up his life again, going back to his home town and buying a local business that would be good to start up again, Everything seemed easy and off to a good start. Throw in the girl who always held your heart, but was not ethical to chase after as she was your best friend’s sister? Not so easy or productive perhaps. Alyssa had her own trials of life she had gone through, but was trying to move on and basically find her place in the world. I feel she never expected to have Ray come back into her life as he did!

Faith had other plans to for these two souls. Ray’s best friend, as well as Alyssa’s brother, sadly was not in the picture. You could tell it was something heavy for them in both their hearts. Perhaps though, maybe this loss and faith are brining them together in more ways than one? They have to work together and as they spend time together, more walls seem to fall down, and maybe they both needed each other, and they never knew how much they could feel with one another if they just allowed themselves to. Could it be true love if they allowed it? Or will life throw something into the ring that could ruin everything?

It was a very enjoyable quick read. The chemistry with Ray and Alyssa was undeniable. It was a beautiful at times, and yes it was something they both had to work hard for. I was rooting for these two souls the entire book, it was a wonderful read. I seriously recommend reading it, its not one y to miss out on!

Unfortunately this turns sour for her the next morning and she spends the next eight years living, studying, and working in Colorado as a trauma nurse. The story is quite simple but delicious in its delivery as Charlotte, or Charlie as she goes by, and Trent, or Tank, get reunited and find their love to still be true and strong. I really enjoyed this book. It kept me reading from the first chapter. Charlie is the little sister of Tanks best friend, they’ve grown up together and she’s always had a crush on him.
After a one night stand, they don’t see each other for 8 years, but when they do the chemistry is still there, but both are cautious about being hurt again.
This story was really sweet as they got to know each other again and learnt what had been going on during the 8 years apart. I loved Charlie, she wasn’t afraid to say what she felt and put herself out there for something she wanted.
I liked how the book didn’t shy away from talking about past abuse, alcoholism or depression. None were in detail, but included enough to understand what the characters might be going through.
The only thing I found strange was that neither knew anything about the other despite being close to their brother/best friend, surely something would have been mentioned over the years.
