I jumped right in on this new to me author with her box set of 4 different stories. The stories were all different which I enjoyed, made for a very good box set. Fell in love with the characters and in hate with others. They were very relatable and well rounded. I will recommend this author and will suggest this box set to anyone that is looking for a new author to get hooked on. I will be reading all her other work for sure.
Stars in the City is a second chance romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It follows Valeria Taylor, a daytime soap opera star, as she navigates life and love. As a young, talented actress, Valeria feels other’s approval keenly which leads to ups and downs. She’s tried to get over her high-school sweetheart Davis for months and it’s lead to bigger heartbreak. An unexpected run in with Davis has Valeria reconsidering what life she’s living. This book was a clean romance with a relatable main character.

Oh, I devoured this book. So sweet and wholesome, and even had some twists/suspense that really kept me engaged and not wanting to put it down. I loved Katie, Jake’s daughter, and the way she stole Lexie’s heart from the beginning. Jake and Lexie had some rocky pasts, and hesitations about moving on, but they could deny the pull/connection between them. Minimal spice, great characters and writing. Would recommend this book, and will definitely be reading more from this author.

4 R’s: Roped, Risked, Rescued, Romance ( 4 R’s Series is a Contemporary Romance complete set that I devoured. Each story is about a different couple but the characters are relatable, fully developed and make the stories come to life. This is a fairly new author to me but I’m definitely going to check out what other books they have written. This set is a second chance romance/ Runaway Bride/single mom Romance and so much more. I highly recommend this set and look forward to reading more from this Author.
I didn’t realize this as a part of a trilogy until after I read it and saw so in the acknowledgments…so naturally I have to go back and read the other two books. However this worked as a stand alone novel as well. Swan Cove sounds like the perfect small town. Although everyone knows your business they are all supportive and helpful. I love Kaia and Everett. They compliment each other beautifully. Their friends and family are wonderful people and everyone is lucky to have each other. It’s definitely a feel good story. Although there were a few bumps in the road they got to where they needed to be at the end.

I am in love with Katie and Biscuit and how adorable they are separately and together. The love between her little girl and her dog is one of the purest loves there is. Throw in Dolly the Longhorn into the mix and I was a happy girl.
Jake did a lots of growing in a short period of time and I enjoyed seeing him evolve from a very unhappy man who really seemed to go through the motions day to day to someone who is happy with his life.
Lexie was the best thing that could have happened to Jake and Katie. She healed them as much as they healed her and they all found their happiness with each other.
This is the first book by Ms. Wayne I have had the pleasure to read, but it won’t be the last.

Loved this one! Lexie and Jake’s story is a page-turner! Jake rescues Lexie and the two are pulled together after each experiencing the ending to relationships. For Lexie, vacation didn’t quite turn out how she thought it would, but it could change her life forever.
I really enjoyed this story. It is heartwarming, but also has tension and keeps you turning the pages until the end. I loved both main characters and the author’s development of their individual stories as well as their relationship. The author has an effortless and engaging writing style. I’ll be picking more up by this author!

This was my first book by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I fell in love with the characters! This contemporary romance had a great western tone throughout with plenty of heartwarming moments as well as dramatic ones. I definitely felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster as I devoured this book. Once I picked it up and found my groove, I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting! The character development is truly fantastic and leads to the ease of experiencing the book right along with them. Jake is guarded, distant, and had been hurt deeply by his wife being unfaithful. Lexie was left at the altar and did little else except work. If you are looking for a lovely romance to tug at your heartstrings, this should be your next read! I can’t wait to see other work by this author.

This was a enjoyable read which kept me happily turning the pages. The heartwarming storyline had me hooked and I felt engaged with the likeable and relatable main characters. The story is set four years after Jake Holloway discovered that his wife had been unfaithful as she lay in a coma, she was also pregnant and Jake does not know if the child is his. Jake is now emotionally closed off and is definitely not going to risk his heart with another relationship. Lexie Morgan thought she was going to get her HEA but was left standing at the alter alone. Lexie decides to start a fresh and moves away from her old life, and this is where Jake and Lexie meet. Their instant attraction takes them both by surprise but they both try to ignore their feelings. However, when Lexie is forced to accept Jake’s help neither of them can deny their growing connection. When Lexie meets Katie, Jake’s shy four year old daughter she knows they are all meant to be together. Just as their relationship is developing their past traumas threaten their fragile bond, and they have to decide if opening up their hearts to love once more is worth the risk. This was an emotional read which kept me captivated throughout and I really felt the chemistry between Jake and Lexie. I enjoyed how their relationship developed throughout the story and I found having both their POV’s made me feel more invested in their romance. The characters and setting were brought to life by the descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story. I recommend picking up this book!

This was a very heartwarming and at times heartbreaking western contemporary romance. The author does an incredible job with the characters and I love how it is told from both main characters points of view. The authors use of descriptions really brought the characters, their situation and feelings to life. My heart was captivated by Jake and Lexie and I was gripped by their story right from the start. I wasnt able to stop reading. Jake has had his heartbroken. Not only did he lose his wife but he also found out she was having affair. Since she passed Jake has taken on raising the baby but he is left with nagging doubts. Is the child actually his or the other man’s? Not wanting to risk getting hurt again he keeps everyone at arms length including the little girl.
Lexie has had a bad time with romance too after she was left at the alter. Now she’s determined to move on and refocus on herself. The last thing she wants is romance but when fate plays it’s hand and she lands in the lap of a handsome man and his adorable daughter will she be strong enough to resist?
Neither Jake nor Lexie want romance but they can’t deny the instant attraction and connection and as Jake feels his heart slowly starting to mend because of Lexie will they both be brave enough to take the leap of faith, not only for themselves but for a little girl that wants to be loved?

This is an amazing set of 4 books in one. I love that I was able to keep reading story after story. I didn’t have to wait for the next one to publish and that made the material fresh in my mind. These book flow together and all contain the same intensity throughout them. These books are quick reads because the words jut flow off the pages. I felt like I just sat down to read them and then they were done. Each book focuses on a different set of characters. These characters all have growth and have experiences that help create the story line for the book. They have different tropes to the books, those include enemies to lovers and forced proximity. The steam is in each book but it is different in each as well. I just can’t get over how good these books are. There is spice, suspense, laughs, shocked moments, and push and pull with emotions throughout these books. If you are one that loves reading series, this would be the best way to do it. I recommend having a day free because once you start reading this, you won’t want to stop. So good. Reviewed by: @bbohls

Almost all of my reviews state this very thing. We all want to be loved, we all want to be accepted and valued and just plain loved.
Jake and Lexie are too cute with their beliefs about love and the things they want in life. Their situation is almost too good to be true. I was afraid something or someone would come along and try to ruin their inta-attraction. I am happy with the way this author handled things for these two and their loved ones.

Texas Winds is a fantastic clean, contemporary romance and I loved every page of this story. Angst, romance, heartwarming and heartbreak with the push and pull between two people…I loved this book so much. The story telling that Dana Wayne gives is tremendous…and feels so real.
When two hearts whom went through unimaginable heartbreak in the past with be able to find love? Lexie and Jake discover that love can heal and bring them together when they least expect it. Lexie is left at the alter and discovers she needs a fresh start. Taking a leave from work to get away is just what she needs to clear her head and figure out what she wants in life. Jake is still reeling from the death of his wife and raising his daughter on his own….and closing his heart off once and for all. When an unexpected chance as Lexie and Jake meet on circumstance…the instant spark is undeniable. With cautious hearts and a little girl to think about….Lexie and Jake embark on a chance to make this connection real and letting go of the past is not always easy.
This is a fantastic romance….I very highly recommend this book….I love the heart warming moments between Lexie, Jake and Katie (Jake’s daughter) along with Biscuit (Lexie’s dog).

I enjoyed this from the beginning! That scone stealing scene was great! What made it even better was the group of friends she met knew all about it and said “ oh you’re the scone stealer” when being introduced. Just perfect!
The theme of this was interesting to me. We have a international Pop star who has a double life. I loved a sneek peek into her Pop stat lifestyle. The concerts, the Stalkers, the clothes changes, the different teams and large amount of employees make me okay with not being in that life. When she becomes a music teacher she sheds a-lot of that and tries to blend to the normal side.
Each of these two MC have past issues that get dealt with along the way. Filled in with laughs and eye opening discussions. The friendship group they have are the best! I really enjoyed meeting them as they amped up the level of the story. The interventions they come up with are awesome. Just trying to help out a couple who should be together.
This is the first book I read in this series and was saddened to find out it is the last. I was looking forward to Wyatt’s story as well as a few others. The bight side is I can grab them to read now.

This story really had me going. The chemistry between Abigail and Everett was sparking. Every time they clashed I had a hard time not laughing. Two people living secret lives and trying to hide it was amusing. The chemistry, and storyline was great. The pacing was well done and I didn’t feel like the story was being rushed. I love how Abigail is trying to be her best as a student teacher, but not quite making the mark. But she has no problem being a popstar. Does she continue her singing career or does she go on to be a teacher? Everett is trying to be a good vice-principal and an analyst, but does the juggling fail? or does he succeed?

This book has 4 books in one focusing on 4 different couples. It was a really good read. I enjoyed reading about Sarah and Rafe, Samantha and Jake, Serena and Mark, Candy and Greg. Each couple had their own tropes, and each set of problems. One thing I did like was each female was strong in their own ways. I felt that it wasn’t a “cut and paste” that I’ve seen happen. The storyline was well done and I was drawn in from the very start. My favorite story was Sarah and Rafe. Their story was well done and I found myself saying “one more chapter” multiple times. I’m excited to read more by Julie!
This book is a box set of four fantastic stories that are all great to read with brilliant characters. I connected with each and every story in this collection and loved the fact that they were distinctly different from each other. I thought each of the books were well written. It took no effort to get into them at all and I enjoyed watching how each story progressed.
This author is new to me and I thought this series was a great way to become familiar with her work. These books have caught my attention and I will definitely be looking to read more her in the future.
Jake and Lexie’s story is so sweet and yet filled with angst and trepidation that you will be up into the wee hours of the night frantically turning the pages to see how it all plays out. I can’t say enough out this book and author…I’m literally putting her on my list of authors to binge read. While this isn’t the typical type of romance I like to read, I was sucked in and it was a nice change of pace. I can definitely see myself reading Wayne in-between my darker reads as a palate cleanser or when I’m just looking for something on the sweeter side. I loved the grumpy/sunshine trope that we get with Jake, the grumpy ranch owner who doesn’t really want to deal with his feelings of being a single father or how he feels instantly connected to Lexie and Lexie, the sunshine who has had some pretty cloudy days of her own, but is refusing to let that cloud her vacation to figure out what she really wants out of life. Through a series of happenstances, they are forced together (another favorite trope of mine) and there are twists and turns along the way that will squeeze and pull at your heartstrings. Throw in the adorable 4-year-old Katie who plays a major role in their relationship and you’ve got yourself a fantastic, slow-burn romance. This book was such a fun read, and quite honestly gave me Hannah Montana vibes! We are introduced to Kaia/Abigail, and we quickly find out that she lives a double life! Kaia is a popstar who lives on the road and does tours worldwide, well with that part of her life coming to a pause for the next few months, she decides that she wants to go back to life as Abigail, the student teacher. On Kaia/Abigail’s journey of being a student teacher, she meets Everett, her mentor…. but little does she know that Everett has some secrets of his own! There are plenty of funny moments between Kaia/Abigail and Everett and there are some serious moments as well. Everett is just trying to live life and work his poor little heart off because of some trauma from a previous relationship, little did Kaia/Abigail and Everett know that their first impressions of each other were soon going to change! To me, this story actually had quite a bit of moral lessons such as, Never Judge a Book by Its Cover! And this added quite a bit of appeal to the storyline between our main characters. The way that Kaia/Abigail has to keep her double life separated it very interesting and the dedication that she has to do so is even better! When I picked up a copy of this book to read, I had no idea that I was in for such a treat, I also didn’t realize that this is the third book of the Swan Cove Series by Christi Barth. I am definitely going to go back and read the first two books of the series, I can only imagine how entertaining those books are going to be! Christi had a great way of keeping you entertained throughout the story, and I never found myself getting bored while reading. I don’t think that you will be one bit disappointed by picking up a copy of the book and getting lost in the pages! It’s up to you if you want to read the first two books of the series’ first, or if you decide to read this one as a standalone!

This was a good 5 star read. Abigail had a not so easy life growing up. She has created a secret identity that has her touring worldwide as a famous singer. When her tour is done she focuses on finishing her teaching degree as her alter ego. Everett works at the school also and lets just say there is no love loss between these two. But are there some sparks under that fire between them? I have to say I really enjoyed this couple’s story. We get twists and turns that added a great element to the story. All of the characters added a great element to the story. The author did a great job with her writing and I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.

4 R’s: Roped, Rescued, Risked, Romanced is the complete 4 R’s series in one book. They are quick and easy reads that you can’t put down once you start. The characters will have you finding a new book boyfriend to chose from or all of them. Roped (Fools Gold) is the story of Sarah and Rafe. Sarah left after finding a note changing everything she thought and wanted but was it true or was it lies? Rafe is in dire need and Sarah returns to help but even in dire need it comes with stipulations. There is lots of chemistry, wants, needs, hopes, misunderstandings and antics that made me laugh.
Rescued (Her Heart’s Desires) is the story of Sam and Jake. Sam does a runner on her wedding day and runs into the arms of another man. Jake is on stake out when a woman runs into his arms. Now he has to keep her safe from a man who is dirtier than anyone knows. This sexy enemies to lovers tale is full of spice and a little suspense.
Risked (Serena’s Web) is Serena and Mark’s story. Serena is caught up in a dangerous web of mobsters when she decides to save her father. This puts her in the cross hairs of the FBI. Can he keep her safe even from himself? This forced proximity tale sizzles with a lot of suspense.
Romanced (It Had To Be You) is Candy and Greg’s story. Candy grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, but she is back in a town she left in her wake. Unfortunately for her she has to business with someone she would rather not have to give the time of day. She loves to hate, and he just wants to love the one that got away. This old enemies to lovers tale is steamy and makes you want to believe in love. I know you will love it.
What an amazing set. I really enjoyed this author’s writing. I’m going to have to say Roped is my favorite. Their chemistry was great. The back and forth. Realizing they were meant to be together and having each other’s back was awesome. Each book has a story that is relatable and makes you feel that you are right there with them. I felt every emotion. This is a fanftastic set that you should read.
After being dumped at the altar, Alexa is at a cross roads in her life where she is questioning all decisions in her life. When her brother Bobby suggests she takes a vacation she jumps at the chance to try and sort her life out.
On her way to the cabin things go wrong which has her ending up in a ditch in the road, trying to get to her trusted company Biscuit she then falls an injures her ankle, while trying to come around a gruff cowboy helps her and eventually she lets him take her to his house at the end of lane so his sister can check her over. Alexa is at a loss when she starts having feelings for the widow but factor in his four year old daughter so is a gonna.
Jake is still grieving the loss of his wife four years ago, he is only existing but that is no life for his daughter to be raised, quiet and lost in her own world his family worry about the little girl. When driving home with Katie in the car he stumbles across an accident and decides to help the stranded woman but quickly realising it’s his friend sister, Alexa. Although he needs to help her feelings start awakening that he has not felt in ages or even with his late wife which is scaring hi,.
As her recovery continues he starts to see a difference in his daughter Katie and within his self, hoping that something can happen with Lexie and will be able to mend a broken heart and live a life of love again.
This is the first book I have read by this author and it was a beautiful read. The story was lovely and uplifting with the interactions between the main characters brilliant and will put together. I also loved the interaction between Lexie and Katie and watching the little girl open up and blossom was a lovely thing to read.
The secondary characters added to the story and the twist in the end was a lovely thing to put the icing on the cake and wrap the story up nicely. Showing the vulnerable side to Jake was interesting I always love a softie at heart. I do hope some of the characters get a book, it would be especially nice to see Sean get his happy ever after.
I can’t wait to read more in the future.

Julie Castle is a natural-born romantic with a modicum of artistic talent inherited from her mom and a love for telling tall tales she got from her dad. From the moment I started reading I found this book to be highly enjoyable. I thought the author did a great job of creating relatable and engaging characters. they had a really strong connection from the start and Katie was the perfect addition to the story. for me, the author captured her, and her emotions so accurately. The story was well written and I thought the pacing of the story was really good. The author knew how to move the book on and keep it progressing without sacrificing anything that was happening. I thought the book was a great story overall and it is one I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Sometimes second chance loves are often better than the first. Texas Winds totally blew me away (pun intended)! Dana Wayne is a first time author for me so I was unsure what to expect. But, the amazing attraction and slow-burn romance to an all-out inferno between Jake and Lexie was just what I needed! The beautiful Texas ranch, complete with wooded land and cabins on the lake create a breathtaking backdrop to this well-written story. Jake, Lexie, Katie and many other characters are realistic, flawed, believable, and oh-so-lovable. I couldn’t help but feel connected to the characters and found myself cheering for the romance between Lexie and Jake. And Biscuit just makes the whole book that much better! The city dog who loves being a ranch dog! There is love, romance, drama, heartache, loss, guilt, and so much more in this book that it kept me on my toes and reading well past bedtime. This is definitely not the last time I pick up a book by Dana Wayne!

This book was such a fun read, I quite enjoyed the contemporary romance that ensued between pop star/student teacher Kaia/Abigail, a woman who leads a double life to keep her real identity separate from her stardom, and her teaching mentor Everett. It is too funny reading about the situations that occur to them upon their first meeting, and the fact that first impressions can most definitely be changed when you get to know someone. This book has a lot of great moral lessons being taught throughout the storyline, which adds to the appeal of the book. I loved the two personalities of our main character, Kaia/Abigail, and the way that both come together as she finds her inner strength to be herself and allows the power, she built in her pop star character to shine through in her real life. I realized at the end of the book that this is the third book in the Swan Cove series and am so excited to go back and read the first two books in the series about Everett’s friends blossoming romances as they were developing. Christi Barth is an amazing contemporary romance author, and I am looking forward to reading more of the books that she has written. She has a beautiful gift of bringing her characters to life, while leading the reader to make real-life connections and includes great character-building attributes in her stories to help the reader see how their life choices can affect their lives. This is a powerful skill that a lot of authors do not touch upon in their books, but that can impact the reader’s experience, love that she does this. @Brandy Rymer 04/2024
