Betrayal is a tangled web of lies and an apt title for this story. The story of Anna and Hunter both no strangers to betrayal. The story has a strong emotional core that allows us to connect with the characters and become emotionally invested in their story.
Anna is fiercely loyal and cares. Promises have been ripped away and she will fight for what she thinks is right be damned who gets in her way.
Hunter’s father is a menace and king of hostile take overs. He doesn’t care as he rips his way through organisations leaving Hunter to try to clean ups his messes. For some reason this time is different.
Secrets from their past come back to haunt them and may just destroy everything they have built.
This engaging and compelling contemporary romance tale a bit of everything to keep the pages turning. Betrayal. secrets, lies, passion, compassion, loyalty, angst, fear and finding love where you least expect it is what you will find with in these pages.

Betrayal (Choosing Family Book 3)Betrayal by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read Masquerade, I was excited to read another book from this series. I somehow ended up with the third book, instead of the second, but it did not spoil the enjoyment of reading. As with the first book, I loved the characters in this one. Their connection was instant and undeniable. They drew me in from the word go and really are what this story is all about for me.
I thought the story matched their personalities as well. It was an enjoyable read that was well written and engaging. I though the author did a great job of keeping your interest, as a reader. Having read two books in the series, I will definitely be going back to read book number 2!

When I read the description for this book I was intrigued by what the story would involve and knew I had to see what it had in store. I was immediately pulled into the story by the characters. They both had so much about them and I really enjoyed watching their connection develop. They had a really strong chemistry which was fantastic to read.
The story itself was really good. The blurb was a little confusing so I was pleased to see that the story was actually well developed and clear. I enjoyed the way the story unfolded and I definitely became invested in what was happening. This is a great story and I am exciting to jump into the next one

This book kept me wanting more. I could have a little more spice but spice isn’t for everyone. Parts of the book were hard for me to follow but it turned around and I enjoyed it. Anna and Hunter both want to protect their hearts- what they don’t realize is they want the same thing! It was definitely a SLOW burn of a romance but once we got there is was good! This book really shows that secrets in any romantic relationship can do no good. Overall a good read.

Betrayal (Choosing Family Book 3)Betrayal by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You Really Can’t Judge a BooThe bright beautiful colors of Raines’ new book, Betrayal, belies the complex subject matter that awaits inside. Anne Turner and Hunter Thompson are thrown together during a philanthropic project – Anne hopes to open a daycare center for her employer and Thompson holds the deed to the proposed site. Their attraction is immediate, but both, having been deeply scarred by the impact of their respective fathers (in Hunter’s case, some descriptions may be triggering for the reader), and in Anne’s case compounded by the death of a dear friend as well. The book is tightly written, and given the tension of the characters and subject matter, is difficult to put down. Themes include moving on from psychological trauma, trust in intimate relationships, and how we choose to define family. A satisfying read.k by its Cover …

The Fixer (Fall River, #2)The Fixer by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 – 4 Stars

The Fixer is the second instalment in the new Fall River series by G.K. Brady. It is a fun enemies-to-lover contemporary romance with a small-town setting, drama, angst, chemistry, banter, humour, friendship, family, finding love unexpectedly, tension, and a bit of a city girl meets small-town boy vibe.
Joy Holiday and Charlie Hunnicutt are like oil and water- but you know what they say about opposites attracting. But with a building project to work through, these two are going to set off a whole lot of sparks rubbing each other the wrong way. What ensues makes for a fun read.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, G.K. Brady!

The Keeper (Fall River Series Book #1) by G. K. Brady – Review by Angela Hayes

The Keeper (Fall River, #1)The Keeper by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars

The Keeper is the first instalment in the new Fall River series by G.K. Brady. It is a slow burn contemporary romance with a small-town setting, boss and ex drama, angst, snow, chemistry, mystery, humour, fun, antics, friendship, family dynamics, sweet storyline, and finding love unexpectedly.
Hailey Bailey and Noah Hunnicutt start off with a bit of a flurry. Add in a lost dog, a car crash, his new struggling business, responsibility, expectation, an arrangement, a bit of boss and ex drama, and a heavy dash of emotion- and this turned out to be a sweet, heartwarming read- with just enough drama and angst to keep me invested the whole way though.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, G.K. Brady!

Tommy and Angie have a love story that spans through time – they break up and go their separate ways live through some serious life events where they both become single parents with different life circumstances and that toss them together again as friends whose long ago feelings rise back to the surface again.

This novel can be read as a standalone but I plan to go back and read book 1.

Love and Fate: A Braebeach Rockstar Romance (Book 2) (Braebeach Rockstar Romance Series)

I can usually get a feel for a book pretty early on. This one caught me off guard. I didn’t expect to cry at all, but definitely not before chapter 3.

Tommy and Angie’s story is not a fast paced story, this one takes a long time and several things before they get their happily ever after. But it was well worth the wait for them.

I couldn’t imagine having to start my life over after being with someone for so many years. But both Tommy and Angie do it while making it look fairly easy.

Definitely didn’t like Chelsea and feel like she got off too easy, hoping karma comes for her soon.

Please let Max be the next one of the boys to fall. I have a good feeling about his story and I can’t wait to see if what my mind is coming up with is close to what happens.

I found book two before I found book one, so I back tracked to read book one first and what a wonderful start to a series it was. Hailey, a health inspector, and Noah, a bar owner meet unexpectedly in the middle of a snow storm which starts their romance simmering. I enjoyed reading about how their relationship played out, the side characters, and the puppy of course. I can definitely say I’m looking forward to visiting Fall River again in book two.

When Tommy and Angie were dating, they were on the same page of what they were, until they were not. If there was one thing rock star drummer, Tommy, regrets it is losing Angie and she moved on completely. Tommy can’t say he has not had a good life, but he acknowledges he has made some huge mistakes, but having his son and now single again he is ready to move on. With Angie single and raising her son they reconnect and Tommy realizes he will never let her go again. Can he have the future he wants with Angie?

Second chance romance that pulls you in right away. It has heartbreak, drama, chemistry and wonderful characters. This was a hard one to put down because you want to happens next. I was surprised by some of the twists and turns but so thrilled with the end. If you like rockstar romance or second chance, this is one for you.

Love and Fate (Braebeach Rockstar #2)Love and Fate by Loriana Cappello
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is written very well. A little disclaimer for those who might feel like it’s not for you, with the settings being in New York and also England, most of it is written in the British version of English. That being said, some things you may not understand what the meaning is or how the wording is written. This is a romance book, but a clean one with very little spice. Now on to the storyline. Tommy is the drummer for a band and reconnects with his college girlfriend, Angie at his bandmates wedding. Of course Angie is now married to Scott and expecting a child and Tommy is with Chelsea. From the get go I really despised Chelsea, her manners and selfish nature just made my blood boil. In the end though, because I’m not going to do any spoilers, fate had a way to change the directions of a few lives. Overall a great book to read.

This book is the third in the Silver Buckles Bride series and, for me, is the most emotional one so one far. The characters has so much going on with their lives and at times it felt like it would be impossible for them to overcome it. I loved the way the author told their story and how everything felt so connected.
This overall story was really good. I found it was interesting to read as the characters developed and the book was well written. This was a thoroughly enjoyable story and a great addition to the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 – 4 stars

The Fixer” is an entertaining novella in The Playmakers series. It’s a quick read and features an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy with wit, humor, and banter that had me laughing out loud.
Charlie is incredibly frustrated thanks to one maddening big city girl. Just the sight of her gets him going in more ways than one.
Joy just wants to leave it all behind and never look back, as it’s a reminder of a past full of heartbreaking pain. But one irritating man is making it more difficult.
Can these two find a middle ground? Will Charlie recognize her pain and help her through it, or will he walk away?
This fun, slow-burn romance is full of chemistry and sizzling tension that is palpable. Grab a copy and get lost in the ups and downs, as well as the mayhem and madness that ensues.
G.K.’s stories are fun, flirty, and sexy, making them a great way to retreat for some much needed “me” time.

I’m always excited to see a new one come out in this series. I was not disappointed in this story. These two had so much to overcome and it was a journey that took you with them. Being based mostly in New Orleans, you felt like you were experiencing a bit of everything there. Oh, I loved every minute of it. This story is so well written. You feel like you very much a part of it. After 3 stories, you feel like part of the family. The characters are easy to relate to. There is such a nice smooth flow to the story. I recommend the whole series. You can read it as a stand alone but I recommend reading it in order to understand the family relationship better.

Love and Fate is the second book in the Braebeach Rockstar Romance series by Loriana Cappello. This is a angsty, slow-burn, second chance, rockstar romance with single parent’s element, challenges, family, friendship, chemistry, drama, tragedy, heartache, emotion, and more.
Angie and Tommy have a complicated past, their teen/first love burned bright, but life tore them apart. Both move on with their – then tragedy strikes, and heartache leaves its mark. What does the future have in store for these two- will their past feelings bubble to the surface once more? Can they open themselves up to the possibility of love, risking their hearts for their second chance at love? Will the challenges they now face be too difficult to navigate?
As I have noted before, Ms. Cappello has an easy and inviting writing style that made this an engaging read.

Heaven Only Knows is a good, clean romance that has a little mystery. Agata is a singer who has been running from her old life and trying to move on from losing the love of her life. Barrett Brockbank is an attorney trying to figure out what to do with his life after a recent court win. He also lost his fiancee to his best friend and they ended up marrying. Although they are dealing with the heartache of losing a loved one, albeit in different ways, neither of them is looking to rush into any kind of relationship. They keep ending up in the same places and are drawn to one another. Can they move beyond their pain to get a hastily ever after?

I absolutely loved reading about Calla’s and Ash’s story. I read a Love and Fate first, and then came back to read Strings Attached. I loved reading the backstory of the sweet couple that you see periodically in that second book. Timing is not Ash’s and Calla’s thing. Every time they meet back up something is in the way. But they still work through them. I love how the connection between the two never fades but keeps getting stronger with each meet. But alas, pressures start to come in at all sides and they can only promise “right now” instead of “forever”. This was a mostly easygoing story and had great word and story building!

Man. this book was hard to read because of the constant rollercoaster. Just when you think it doesn’t get worse Loriana says hold my drink and takes you out at the knees. I had to keep a box of tissues because my heart hurt for Angie while she tried to process Sam’s death. I absolutely wanted the knock the crap out of Chelsea. She is the most vile character in this book. I feared for Ozzie’s safety multiple times. Angie’s son was pretty adorable. Watching these four try and navigate being a family together. I just wanted to take Tommy and just hug him and hide him from the writer because he goes through so much. I loved this story so much and it had just enough of reality mixed in with fiction that it was still relatable.
