A story that will have you following page by page waiting for the next turn. To watch Claire and Nick meet and everything go in such a way that their love can kindle into a great relationship. An enjoyable read from youth adult to adult. What will happen in the end, will there relationship flourish or fall apart due to the differences?
Claire Morgan model and business woman. Nick is a waiter and a local art student. Claire and her best friend Candie along with their dates and other friends end up at the restaurant Nick works at. All of Claire’s friends see him as a nobody but she sees so much more in him. Claire has slipped away from her friends after the restaurant closes. She hides away and sneaks off with Nick just to get a little bit of time with him. He leaves her with his number. They both are different people when they are together. They both see the real sides of each other. However Claire doesn’t believe in love. Will this just be a fling or could they have found what they are both looking for?
Reading the preview for this book, I was already drawn to the storyline and wanted to see how this relationship would end up. I absolutely love to read about love stories of individuals from opposite spectrums but yet find one another compelling enough to make themselves vulnerable and yearn for each other. Claire, belonging to a rich class of youngsters, comes from wealth and only acts the part as it is expected of her. She is very intelligent, well educated, and wants to break into her own stance of contributions. Nick, a struggling art graduate student, is a waiter at a restaurant where he ends up meeting Claire. Nick’s bold statements catch the attention of Claire and they start getting to know each other a bit better. They gain a deeper appreciation for one another. Not only can they really be themselves around each other but they also start to encourage their passions they both have. Love is about being vulnerable enough to show your true nature and support their own paths and passions. Such a wonderful read for everyone to experience!

Unexpected is a contemporary romance about two people who meet unexpectedly and make an unexpected connection. For all outward appearances Claire and Nick are complete opposites. She is a beautiful heiress who is used to being in the spotlight. Claire has both beauty and brains, but she keeps the educated part of her persona private and instead lets the tabloids report on who her newest love interest is. Nick is an aspiring artist currently working as a waiter in the hopes of not losing his scholarship. When Claire and her friends go out for dinner at the restaurant where Nick works him, and Claire find that they have an instant connection with one another. The two strike up a secret friendship which quickly turns into more. A heartfelt read about finding love in the most unexpected circumstances. The characters were relatable, and I loved that Claire was not just another ditzy heiress that was only concerned about her looks and how popular she was. Nick was down-to-earth, smart, funny, and the perfect match for Claire. This book had friendship, romance, love, angst, drama and a splatter of wit and humor.

This book is a great romantic story between two unlikely characters. From completely different worlds, it is hard to see how they could possibly make something work and yet, that is exactly what you want them to do right from the moment they meet. I found it so easy to connect with these characters, and I became emotionally invested in what they were going through. This is the first book that I had by this author but it won’t be the last. If all of her characters are these easy to connect with, then I will be reading everything she has to offer. This is a great book that is worth the read.
This was a beautiful story that I really enjoyed. The author has an amazing way of writing that brings the story and the characters to life. This is a story about 2 people from 2 different worlds and all the struggles and obstacles they have to go through to be together. Struggles that include their different positions in the world, the opinions of their friends and also their own self doubts and inner struggles.
Clare is a heiress and a smart woman in her own rights, however that isn’t seen very often as most people just see her as the pretty ex model. She really wants to take the helm of her fathers business and make changes but with people telling her she doesn’t have to and no one expects if of her how can she show people what she can really do?
Nick is an art student. His life is a constant juggling act between school, and his job which he needs to pay for his tuition. He is pursuing his dreams but most of the times it seems like his dreams will never materialise. At his job as a waiter in a restaurant is where he first encounters Claire and her friends.
From the start their attraction to each other was instant however with the rudeness of her friends Nick didn’t hold out any hope for anything. After all Claire was way out of his league. When a one night stand leads to several dates in secret the pair decide they can’t hiding their relationship from others. But what will be the consequences of making their relationship public? Will people’s criticisms of their different backgrounds make it hard for their relationship to succeed? And what happens as their story progresses? Will they find what they are searching for together or will they need to be apart to succeed?
This was a unique turn of the female being the wealthy partner where as most times its the men so that was a nice change. Claire is also a very down to earth character, she doesn’t flaunt her wealth or look down on people which I loved about her. Both of our main characters have flaws which make the human and relatable. This is a fast paced read which I couldn’t put down.
This is the 4th book in the series and it can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the others first. It is so you can appreciate the authors writing and the way the characters evolve. However, that said, you won’t be disappointed if you don’t read the others in the series because this book is really well written. This book has it all from the chemistry between the characters to laugh out loud moments. The words that are put onto the pages make this story come alive. The relatable moments really connect you to the characters and keep you rooted in the book. It was a fast read for me because I wanted to see what was going to happen next with these characters. The danger that is presented and the thrill that goes along with the danger, makes this book more than just a romance book. It gives you humor, suspense, love, laughter, mystery, intrigue, and of course off the charts chemistry. Reviewed by: @bbohls

This was a great book. Lela is trying really hard to find her niece. She took off with her boyfriend. Her father is also looking for them. He hired a “henchman” to find them. As these two race to find them an attraction builds, Hamish is a little distant to officially start something. Can they put their past behind them to have a relationship, and do they find her niece in time?

I love this series! This author keeps you enraptured in the story being told. Dangerous Rhythm is the next installment in the series. Bringing us back to one of the band members as a focus in the story. Each story focuses on specific characters that are minor supporting characters in previous books. These books may be part of a series but work very well as standalone novels. Curtis finds himself in an unfortunate situation. A witness to murder. But not just any murder one committed by one of long standing crime families in the city. He wants to do what’s right, not realizing his life is at risk. Enter the woman who drives him crazy. Lina runs to Curtis the minute she finds out he’s in danger. Planning to stick with him and protect him from the threat. What she didn’t expect was him having the ability to break her resolve. Will those feelings have consequences? We follow Curtis and Lina on the run of their lives. Lines get crossed. Unfavorable decisions are made. Will it all be worth it in the end? This is a thrilling romance worth reading. Well the whole series is!

What a lovely rom-com story of two unexpected people crossing paths. Claire is an heiress and most people just see the pretty face, not the brains behind it. Nick is a waiter and going to art school, that is if he doesn’t lose his grad school scholarship. The two cross paths, they live in totally different worlds and don’t think that they can cross the social line. So of course they start a friendship and a secret fling. There are many books with one rich and one poor character out there and I liked that it wasn’t the stereotypical rich man! The author did a great job making the characters real and relatable. I was hanging on and flipping the pages hoping for the happily ever after. I will be looking to see if this author has more to read!
“Dangerous Rhythm” by C.R. Alam delivers a mesmerizing symphony of suspense, passion, and unbreakable bonds. Alam’s expert storytelling weaves a thrilling narrative around rock legend Curtis Bisset and former intelligence officer Lina Cheung. A perilous dance unfolds as they navigate a world of danger, love, and a relentless pursuit. The rousing action, sizzling chemistry, and emotional depth create a captivating tale that keeps you on the edge. Brace yourself for a wild ride where unrequited romance meets explosive adventure—a five-star masterpiece that hits all the right notes.

After Curtis witnesses a stabbing by a member of a local crime family who is then killed in jail, Curtis himself becomes a target. His bodyguard is Lina Cheung, a member of his band’s security team. Will Lina and Curtis be able to keep things strictly professional or will they be drawn to one another? This book is just as good as the first 3 in this series. love them all!

This was a great 5 star read. This couple and their story pulled me right in. When Curtis sees something he shouldn’t have his world gets turned upside down. When someone from his past, Lina, is brought in as security, things get very interesting. I devoured this book wanting to see what was coming and if Lina can keep him safe. There is suspense, mystery, romance and so much more. All of the characters added a great element to the story. Passionate, suspenseful romance with a twist This is book 4 of The Echo series and it was engaging from the start. With rockstars, bodyguards and twists and turns, I was held captive right through until the end. I love how the author bought a fresh take and reversed the roles in this one. Curtis and Lena certainly provide some sizzle as their chemistry oozed off page. If you love spicy romance with action and a dabble of humour then check this one out. Highly recommend.

“Lela’s Choice” by Jennifer Raines is a gripping tale of family, love, and the lengths one woman will go to protect her loved ones. The story follows Lela Vella, a dutiful daughter and aunt who’s determined to wean her father and orphaned niece off their dependence on her. However, her plans are turned upside down when her niece and her boyfriend flee Sydney for Malta, under suspicious circumstances.
The story is filled with suspense, romance, and a deep exploration of familial relationships. Jennifer Raines does an excellent job of creating well-rounded characters with complex emotions and motivations. Lela is a relatable and strong-willed protagonist, and Hamish’s internal struggle adds depth to his character. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, yet a little spicy (in my opinion).
Raines also excels in creating a vivid and atmospheric setting. The descriptions of Malta and its culture add an extra layer of richness to the story. The pacing is well-balanced, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers engaged until the very end.

Yes!! I loved this story so, so much! I loved the characters, the plot, everything really! Curtis was exactly as I wanted to be, however with what he witnessed we begin to see a little bit of vulnerability creep in. How amazing was Lina! She is my favourite character! She’s fierce, independent and just an all-round amazing woman!! The connection that these two had was great and I loved the chemistry between the two of them. With a few twists and turns in the story along with amazing characters this story kept me engaged from beginning to end and I would 100% recommend it!

Nick – the art student – and Claire – the former model, socialite, and business woman – make quite the unexpected pair. The question is, can their instant connection withstand both of their insecurities? This book was a fast-paced, lovable story of two mismatched people that find themselves in an interesting situation. I really enjoyed the book and was rooting for these two to take the leap and commit to what could be. Unexpected, was just that, two people crossing paths in unexpected ways and having an unexpected connection. Read this book to see how it ends!
This is the first book I have read from this author and now she has a new fan. I love a good romance but this story exceeded my expectations. I could not help but to fall in love with these characters. I could not put this book down until I read it all. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible story.

What an emotional rollercoaster. I can’t believe that Claire and Nick finally are able to express their feelings and then, ugh!!! It was not nice to do that to a person.
Claire is many things, daughter, friend, former model, daughter of a tech magnate, business woman and lost. Claire wants to do so much with her position at her father’s company but he consistently tells her that she doesn’t have to and that no one expects that of her. But Claire is smart, driven, ambitious and wants so much more than what is expected of her.
Nick is a struggling art student. He works, he attends his classes, he paints, he is also stuck. What he loves to paint, landscapes, won’t bring him fame and fortune, but that is what he really wants out of his art career. Nick wants to be known and respected in the art world. He can’t really seem to impress the professors and critics at school and is close to quitting it all.
One night while working as a waiter, Nick comes face to face with Claire and her group of friends. The friends are dismissive and rude to him. Nick is just the waiter, after all. After being curt to Claire, Nick finds himself in a hotel room with her. After their one night together, Nick gives Claire his phone number. He never expects her to use it. She never plans on using it. Until she does.
Clair and Nick met up occasionally for the next year, slowly building a friendship and a relationship out of their series of hookups. When Nick takes Claire camping for the weekend, they realize that they love each other. Nick feels that he isn’t good enough for Claire because he is just a poor art student. Claire doesn’t feel that way but she knows love never lasts anyways, so she lets him walk away. Can that be all? Will they each move on? Will they find what they are looking for separately before finding it together? The ride will end with you safe back at the station but hold on getting there!

This was a great 5 star read. I really enjoyed this story and the characters were great. Claire is a misunderstood heiress. She is a very smart woman but hides it from the public. When she meets Nick there is an instant connection. Nick has his own struggles he is working through. Will their relationship be a fling or will it take a deeper turn? This story flows so well and I was done before I knew it. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I look forward to reading more from her. 1-click and get started today.
Unexpected by Laylah Abrams. I truly loved this modern day twist romance. Its the story of Claire Morgan who is a heiress and she has a fake social profile. She is not the air headed, shallow girl that she leads people to believe she is. Nick Holden is a struggling artist/waiter who is trying not to lose his scholarship. When he and Claire meet they don’t think they could ever have a future together because of their vastly different backgrounds. They have so much in common though and the more time they spend together the more they realize they enjoy each other’s company. Nick encourages Claire to enter the tech world she so desperately wants to and Claire helps Nick to beat his artistic slump. They are so good for each other. Will they be able to make their relationship last and go against the society rules? Read this fun romance to find out!
Continue to enjoy this series and this author. The story flows easily and the characters we find are engaging and relatable. This book can easily be read on its own but I am thankful I’ve read the series in total to enjoy the author’s universe in total.

America, who is an editor for a travel magazine, isn’t having quite the holiday season she was hoping for. Her parents have left for a trip to Italy, and she finds herself traveling to a town known for its holiday festivities. She resists the assignment at first because she is an editor, not a writer, or so she keeps telling herself.
When she arrives, imagine her surprise when she finds a town not at all depicted in the way she thought it would be. Not only are there zero decorations in sight but it’s almost abandoned. America likes a challenge so she teams up with the mayor, Leo, to bring some Christmas cheer back to the sad little town. However, what started as a way to save Christmas has now turned into saving the town as a whole. If she is lucky, she may just find that writer inside of her and find her true love!
This was such a sweet but very rapidly developed romance, but that is part of the magic of the book. It also has a great message for the season, Christmas isn’t in the gifts, the decorations, or a specific place, but it’s in our hearts! If you are a fan of Hallmark Christmas movies, this book is right up your alley. It’s a quick, magical holiday romance that will definitely put you in the holiday spirit!!!!

Curtis is in one of the most successful Rock bands but nothing could have predicted the situation he and his friends found there selves in with witnessing what they did.
While waiting in steps the last person he thought would help him, Lina was a bodyguard on tour but with his attraction to her he always felt that he was not good enough for her. While they are in the confines of close protection can he keep control of the chemistry between them or will he just go for it.
Lina did not think she would be back in the world of Canis Major again so soon, but when Curtis becomes wrapped up the world of Mafia and people after him it is up to Lina to protect him as best she can, but there is only one problem can she keep her attraction in check in order to protect him or will chemistry between them become too much.
I have read all the books in this series so far and this is just as engaging as the last. Although this is the four book in this series with each books can be read as a stand alone, as always the characters are well developed and the chemistry between the main characters is off the charts.
The story offers twists and turns not only in the tension of the mafia chasing them around but the interaction between the main characters, with secondary characters adding an extra layer to the story. I always love a strong female character and Lina is this and more, her kick ass nature with the strong protective side just adds more to her character and with Curtis having to rely on Lina with all her knowledge its great to have a reverse scenario.
Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Alam – Review by Angela Shirley
This author hits a sweet spot for me every time I read one of their novels. Each one of the Echo Series books can be read as a stand alone because there is not much information that you need to catch on to the current book. That being said, I absolutely think it is worth it to go back and read the others if this is the first one you plan on reading!
I loved Curtis and Lina. They fit together like PB&J even though Lina tried her hardest to stay away from Curtis. I also love the tidbits of information about the Chinese culture. If you like a good romance intertwined with some suspense, this is the book for you. I cannot recommend this author enough.
