This is the first book I have read from this author and it was wonderful. I love mysteries and it is always fun to find a new author. This is the first book in the Crawford Mystery series and it was a perfect book to start an addictive series. I started to read this book and I could not stop reading.

This was a great read. It is the second book in the DeWitt Agency Adventures. The story is fast paced and will of action, danger and intrigue. You get completely drawn into the story and following the twists and turns that you get taken through.
It is a story about Mafia, drugs and when Carson goes on the case to return a daughter to her father she gets dragged further into the rabbit hole of this world than she ever dreamed possible.
There are a lot of characters to this story and the connection between them can get confusing at first, however I recommend sticking with the book because once you get a grip on the connections and who’s who the story then becomes an amazing read.

Where do I even begin. This book was INCREDIBLE. Like truly an unbelievable read! twists and turns you never see coming, bombs dropping everywhere. I was enthralled fully and couldn’t have put it down if I even tried! So well written and truly a thrilling tale! I couldn’t read it fast enough, but at the same time wanted to savour every word! I felt a serious NEED to get to the end and figure out what was really going on and boy oh boy! THE ENDING did NOT disappoint. This book is a work of art and the author Glede Brown Kabongo is a mastermind. To even have come up with a plot like this and wonderful characters like these, magic. If you enjoy reading a book from the edge of your seat look no further because you absolutely DO NOT want to miss this one!!!

I have previously read “Our Wicked Lies” by Kabongo. I loved it so much I’ll now blindly pick any of her books without even reading the synopsis. Fool me twice did not disappoint! True to the author’s style, the suspense begins immediately and doesn’t let up until the very end. I love how she gets right into the story so you are invested from the start. I recommend all her books!

Whisper Creek is the 7th book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series. I’ve enjoyed this series a lot because it centers around a strong, independent woman and each book seems to get more intriguing than the one before it. I feel this is in part to the character growth we have seen since the very beginning. While this book is better having read the ones before it, Valerie Davisson has written in a way that you could follow along regardless. Whisper Creek was an exciting addition to this series with several twists and turns that helped the story flow seamlessly. I have really come to love Logan (and even Ben) and look forward to what more is to come from this author.

Whisper Creek by Valerie Davisson is a page Turner. Logan McKenna is trying to solve a murder and keep her friends from being arrested. There are four possible suspects but who did it? This book seven in the Logan McKenna series. This is the first one I have read, but I now plan to read the first six. I love a good mystery.

What a thought-provoking book. This is the first book I have read by A. J. Ullman, but it makes me want to search out more. Cady is a white woman lawyer who is getting ready to make partner at her law firm when riding her bike through her sketchy neighborhood, she is accosted, shoots, and kills a black man. Cady has only been carrying a gun for the last couple years due to moving to this neighborhood. And that is how the book starts!! She states self-defense, but not everyone is buying it. BLM is not making it an open and shut case. We learn more about Cady’s backstory and see her changing as the story progresses. Being a lawyer, she is seeing the other side of the judicial system. Does she stand and fight? Does she go to jail? How does this unfortunate situation change her? I really enjoyed that the story makes use of current headlines and social issues. Thank you, A. J. Ullman, for an amazing read!

Intrigue starts right at the beginning of this one. It begins with hang-up calls, being followed and chased, then threats on the lives of her children. Someone has it out for Shelby Cooper, and they promise not to stop until she is utterly destroyed. There is lots to unpack here; Shelby is obviously hiding much from her family, but we find out about it slowly, as the clues are revealed. The psychological thriller aspect of this book is done very well. The characters fell a bit flat for me… I had trouble caring for them, which took a bit away from the plot. However, Kabongo is a good thriller writer, so if you like being on the edge of your seat, guessing at what’s coming next, this may be a good choice for you.
This is the 7th book in the Logan McKenna series. This is a Crime novel and is 283 pages in length. This story continues to follow Logan McKenna as she travels to Oregon. In true Logan fashion she stumbles onto a mystery. A dead body to be exact. Now she must put her life on hold to help her friends who have now become suspects.

I really enjoyed this story. The author does an amazing job of making the story interested and gripping without giving away too many details and making the person behind it all obvious too early into the story. The story a fast paced psychological Thriller involving murder, revenge and a stalker.
Everyone had a past and secrets from that past. But when their past comes back to haunt them it can destroy the perfect life that now have. That is what is happening to Shelby. Someone is set on getting revenge for something she did in the past, however it not only Shelby they are set out to get, with her children getting dragged into this mess, Shelby know she needs to do whatever this stalker wants to save her family and children. But when she is framed for murder, that puts a different spin on things. The stalker that seems harmless and turned deadly and Shelby now serious worries for her families safety as well as her own. She can’t really get sent to prison for a murder she didn’t commit could she?

Stand your ground by A.J. Ulman a five-star read that will grip you and only let you go when you feel the shot. This won’t be a story for everyone, as some people will miss the underlying theme to the story, maybe it’s because I don’t live where this is set, so I see the outside perspective, or maybe it just that I always try to be the devils advocate and show people both sides, and that’s what this story does so well, the author has a great way of showing you everything while keeping it hidden, it is almost like the wizard of Oz, you know what you are seeing, but there is so much more in reality. If you like a good thriller that has a voice that needs to be heard it is very current so will be raw to many, but this is something everyone should read.

This is one heck of a page-turning thriller. From the beginning scene in the restraint until the heart-rendering scene at the end, you just can’t put the book down. This is writing that grips you at the heart and has you feeling every emotion and feeling that the character feels. Every description has you feeling like you are there in the story, so vivid and detailed. This is a must read for action and thriller fans. Highly recommend.
This has been one of the most exciting books I have read in a long time. The plot twists and turns of this book are layered with action, suspense, and intrigue. Carson in turn is like no character I have experienced before. She is sexy, worldly, trained and skilled with weapons and hand-to-hand, and extremely clever. An ex-cop she is taking care of her fathers debt to the mafia and everything escalates from there. Her attempt to bring back the Russian cabinet ministers daughter Viktoriya takes an unexpected turn and leads her chasing the girl thru the Underworld. Getting a glimpse of Carson in action makes this novel quite a page turner that is hard to put down.

Engano: A Carson Action Thriller by Lance Charnes is the second book in the DeWitt Agency Adventures series. This is a fast paced story that is full of suspense. I think the author has created and interesting and detailed plot with the sole purpose of engaging every reader. I did find the book to be very detailed. A few times there was probably more than needed however overall it enriched the story. I became hooked on the story and every twist and turn. This was a great book that just added to the series as a whole.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series and this latest installment lives up to my expectations. The author writes the books solidly and in such a way that someone could pick them up without having read the whole series. I love how the main character has developed throughout the series. She is a fantastic lead and love watching how she progresses through each new mystery. If you love a good crime thriller with spunk, this book and series should be on your TBR list.

Silent Gavel is the first book in the A Crawford Mystery Series by Merissa Racine. Whew! I was totally expecting the same ole same ole who dunnit mystery and that is not what I got at all. I truly enjoyed reading this fast paced mystery suspense that kept me turning the pages while on the edge of my seat. I had to know what was going to happen next. This is a fairly new author to me but I’m a fan already . This is a story about Lauren she moved and left her old life behind and found a job at the courthouse as a Stenographer. All was good until the judge is found murdered and Lauren is the number one suspect. She decides to try and solve the mystery of who did it but things get complicated. This is where I glued and couldn’t put it down. Can she figure it all out? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. You won’t be disappointed. Silent Gavel (A Crawford Mystery Book 1) by Merissa Racine
4 out of 5 Stars
Lauren Besoner has had enough drama recently. Lauren is ready for some stability. Lauren has bought a house and gotten a dog. She is trying to make a life for herself. All of that comes to an abrupt halt when she finds her boss, Judge Murphy, dead. As the investigation ramps up, Lauren finds herself as a suspect. How does she find a way to prove it wasn’t her?
Merissa Racine adds twists at every turn, keeping you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you have it figured it out, a new piece of evidence pops up and changes everything. Lauren can’t stay out of trouble. She keeps landing in the interrogation room with the very handsome Detective Sam Overstreet. It is not looking good for Lauren. Excellent storytelling! Maybe the mystery will be how Lauren avoids a relationship with Sam?

Wow this book had me hooked from beginning to end. This was a great mystery with suspense and I really thought I had it figured out on “who done it”…or so I thought….. Lauren is a court stenographer and when she goes to pick up the judge she was working for one morning, something was not right. When Lauren went into Judge Murphy’s house to check in to see if she was ready, Lauren finds the judge murdered in her own home. Sam Overstreet is the detective on the case and has his eyes on Lauren as his #1 suspect. Who murdered Judge Murphy? This book is a who done it murder mystery and just so good. This book really drew me in and I cannot wait until I continue with book #2.

Silent Gavel (A Crawford Mystery Book 1) by Merissa Racine was a pager turning crime mystery. Merissa writes a riveting murder mystery that makes you question who did it after Lauren finds her dead boss. Through the whole book I found myself trying to guess who murdered Judge Murphy and with each chapter I found myself changing my mind as to who the killer was, falling in love with characters I previously hated, and ultimately was shocked at the end. This was a great read and would read again.

Silent Gavel, book 1 in the Crawford Mystery series by Merissa Racine is a five-star read! I LOVED this book! I love reading thriller books with a crime theme and this one did not disappoint! I loved the character development and that the story was well written and did not drag but include just what was needed and had a few twists I definitely did not see coming! The book starts out with Lauren, a court reporter, being late to pick up her boss, the judge, to carpool to a hearing. When Lauren arrives and does not receive a response from the judge after knocking on her door, she steps inside only to find the judge dead! Her whole world is about to get messy, and she is now on the mission to not only clear her name but to find out who killed her boss. I really enjoyed this book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good whodunit story! I cannot wait to sink myself into book 2 next!

Lauren Besoner is a court stenographer in the small town of Crawford, Wyoming, she owns her own home and has a dog she loves to bits, as well as some actual stability in her life, no thanks to her past dating and relationship endeavours both at home and in Denver the short time she lived there. She is happy with her life and job, that is until one day when she is heading to pick up the judge that she works for so that they can travel together to the courthouse a couple of towns over, instead, when the judge isn’t answering her calls or texts, Lauren goes up to the house to check to see if she is ready. When she approaches the house and sees the front door open, she calls out for the judge multiple times, getting louder as time goes on, eventually she goes inside when she notices that the judge’s dog is shivering and cold, however, when her foot touches some broken glass on the floor, Lauren is shocked to find the judge is lying on top of it.
Lauren panics and fumbles for the light switch and this is when she sees the broken glass panel in the front door and the judge lying in a pool of blood, stumbling back out of the door and taking the dog with her, she gets into her car and calls 911 to report what she has found. As the call progresses and Lauren has to go back inside the house to check for signs of life that it fully hits her what has happened and this is compounded when the police arrive and ask her to go to the station to make a statement while her clothes are taken away as evidence and the scene is sealed. As time passes and the events settle in, Lauren is brought in for questioning on multiple occasions, however, each time she goes, she feels like she is being treated like the number one suspect despite giving all the facts to the contrary, it doesn’t help that she finds out that her ex-husband was cheating on her with the judge while they were still marries, which is the opposite of what he told her originally.
As the investigation continues and nothing changes or moves forwards, Lauren’s unease with being the prime suspect increases and she gets the feeling that nothing is as it seems and that there is too much that doesn’t add up the more she thinks about it, so she starts to do a little digging of her own. Will Lauren be able to prove her innocence and work out who the real killer is, or will she go down for a crime she didn’t commit? This is a thrilling mystery filled with intrigue, secrets and more questions than answers until the end is reached and the killers identity is revealed.

WOW!!! This book had me on edge until the very end. I don’t usually read psychological thrillers but I have to say, that might just have to change. I loved this book. The author sure has an amazing grip on keeping your mind on twists and turns. I was trying to figure out who the murderer was and was stumped. This poor family went through hell and back over and over. I could not put this book down. If you are like me and don’t usually read this genre of book. This is a great place to start. I was thinking about this book even when I wasn’t reading it. I will be reading this author again and again.

If you haven’t read any of Glede Browne Kabongo’s thrillers before, DON’T wait to get your hands on this read! I personally love a book that will grab my attention and throw my mind for a proverbial loup and this woman does it to me every single time. She has quickly become one of my favorites when it comes to thriller crime novels and I just can’t get enough. As soon as I saw that there was a new one available from her I knew I had to clear an afternoon and snag it because you won’t be able to put these down just like the title suggests. The twists and turns are so frequent that just when you think you get to a stopping point to say cook supper or adult at all you are at another and you suddenly are sucked right back into the chaos and can’t tear yourself away. Needless to say it was a pizza and movie night for the kiddos around my house for this one. NOT SORRY. This book had me in my feels too. I was empathizing with Shelby and her family but I also was wondering if she maybe had it all coming to her too? That is the beauty of the writing of Ms. Kabongo. I can’t wait to see what will come next from her and may just have to re-read this one to hold me over in the meantime!

I was a bit confused at first as Shelby was in one type of POV and all others were told in another and usually took reading a few sentences to realize who we were reading about. I really enjoyed this book as it kept me guessing and kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. Really makes you wonder if someone was to watch your life how quick would they learn your routine? Cant wait to read more from this amazing author
This is the second thrilling installment in THe Dewitt Agency Adventures series from Lance Charnes. I did find this one a tad difficult to get into at first because it was a touch on the slow side for the take off. It was detailed and hard to get through the set up but once I got through that and we were off on the adventure and the drama took off this book had me absolutely hooked and I could not put it down until I found out how things would work out for our MC. One thing I really love about this book is how much the main character, Carson, is a badass woman. She really is a strong female lead and I loved how that came across and flowed throughout the story. It made me really love her and the book that much more. The world building made me feel as if I was parting right there in the gorgeous coasts of Spain with her and I loved every moment that I held my breath while she made her way through the suspenseful moments. I look forward to seeing what will come next!
