Blood Mug is the fourth book in the Red Farlow Mysteries series by W.F Ranew. This follows our MC, PI Red Farlow, as he unravels another intriguing mystery. All the books in this series centre around Red Farlow as he investigates various ‘cases’, each instalment can be read as a standalone- but having said that, I think knowing Red, and what has happened previously, would definitely enhance your reading experience of this book and series as a whole. Again, this is an intriguing murder mystery, with a crime and investigation theme, a seasoned PI, drama, danger, intrigue, a little suspense, and more. Red Farlow has n appointment with the head of the local Art Centre, but when he arrives Red discovers that he has been murdered. As he investigates, more murders occur- so Red will need to get to the bottom of it all before the body count gets any higher. What is the significance of the murder weapon/s- a medieval battle dagger? All will be revealed. Again, this is a cleverly woven story full of intriguing and descriptive details. I wonder what Red will get up to in the next instalment.

Our Wicked Lies by Glede Browne Kabongo is an intense psychological thriller that will leave you guessing.
Some things are better left uncovered, but Alicia isn’t content with that. The more her husband reacts to her questions and accusations, the more Alicia’s suspicion grows. After seeing her husband and friend being a little too friendly at a party, Alicia’s mind can’t get past the thought of something being wrong. Is her husband of 20 years unfaithful? After someone ends up dead, it seems as though there may be more to the story than meets the eye.
Definitely 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read! This plot is full of twists and turns. Alicia and Eliot’s marriage is strong……. or so you think. Lies turn into more lies and tragedy happens. I couldn’t put this book down and I wanted to keep reading to see what happens next! If you like a page turning thriller, definitely read this book. Fantastic!
Red Farlow is back with this fourth installment of the Red Farlow Mysteries, BLOOD MUG. This one was just as fast paced and action filled as the previous three. I particularly liked the mystery of this one and the way it unfolded so I’d have to say this one takes the first place of favorites so far for me. I do love this series so that is a hard one for me to say. WF Ranew once again has written the book in a way that I feel as if I am right there solving the crime scenes and puzzles with PI Farlow. I love when an author can transport me so that is always a positive for me when I pick up one of his books. I can’t wait to see what adventure and mystery we will find ourselves on next time!
Alicia Gray has the life everyone wants, a marriage to a handsome and successful man, two beautiful daughters who are headstrong and know what they want out of life and a beautiful home in a quiet and wealthy area of town, but things are not all as they seem when she sees her best friend getting a little too friendly with her husband at a party. When she confronts him about it the next day, he is not comfortable and tries to portray it as less than it was, he tells Alicia that it was all on her friend and he felt uncomfortable and was hoping that nobody had seen, while being embarrassed that she had, not really an sight of an apology though, but Alicia gives him the benefit of the doubt and tries to get in contact with her friend to hear her side of the story. This is not to be when her friend does not get back in touch with her, but she cannot get it out of her head despite trying to take her mind off of it, her suspicions are raised again at dinner the next day when unusually her husband is home for it, normally he works late, however, when he gets a phone call and looks nervous about answering it in front of her, she is not sure what to make of it all. When she confronts him about it, he is evasive and says it was to do with work, but she isn’t buying this time at all, however, she lets the subject go for now.
Alicia is taking some time to think about her future none that her girls are both heading off to uni this year and the next, she thinks it is time to start looking at getting the degree she gave up on earlier on in life and getting herself a job to keep her skills up, on top of her volunteering at a Gynaecology Centre for a charity near to where she lives. She adores her work there and ideally would like something there, however, she asks her boss to keep an eye open for anything that might suit her, she uses it as a way to practice before she talks to her husband about it all. She is getting worried though when her friend still isn’t answering her messages, but doesn’t know whether to go and see her in person or not and it is driving her to look for other evidence of what her husband may be hiding from her, so she decides to check his computer, although what she finds on there just makes her even more incentivised to find out what is happening when she finds emails which are addressed to another woman, but never sent. As this mystery unfolds, another shock comes when someone close to her is killed, but is it related to the emails and the mystery phone calls, or is there something else more sinister at play? This is a suspense which will keep you hooked as secrets are revealed, pasts are exposed and current events show that there is more to the surrounding area than meets the eye.

To say you will be transfixed or mesmerized is an understatement! This book draws you in and has you guessing at what will come next until the very last page. You feel the pain, angst, and anxiety of the main character, Alicia. Her own lie and those of the people close to her pile on to an epic conclusion. I’ll bet you won’t predict the ending! Wonderful book!
Our Wicked Lies is the first book I’ve ever read by Gledé Browne Kabongo, and she quickly became a new favorite author. This book was so good. I had trouble putting it down, and I read it in one day. We follow the seemingly idyllic life of Alicia Gray, that is until her world is rocked. Alicia is married with two daughters. She has a best friend who lives nearby in the same upscale neighborhood. She has the all American life that many dream of. Her world is shattered, and we follow her through the aftermath. There are twists and surprises in the story that will keep you hooked! I highly recommend reading this book!
Our Wicked Lies spins a tale of love, friendship, and ultimate betrayal. Alicia thinks she has a perfect life with her husband and two teenage daughters. But her dreams are shattered when she discovers disturbing emails between her husband and a stranger named Faith. Full of twists, turns, and a good story line, the story is well developed and the characters are relatable. However, there are some parts where the story skips ahead and it took a bit to figure out the timeline and what was going on. The point of view switches quite often and made parts of the story difficult to follow. A good story that shows even the most perfect relationship can be based on lies, Our Wicked Lies was a good read.
This is a paranormal crime novel with lots of plot twists and suspenseful moments. It kept me guessing until the very end. This book could be a bit triggering, although I think the subject matter was handled sensitively. I felt like the characters were less developed than I hoped for and there were a lot of characters to keep track of. it got a little repetitive at times but overall it was an interesting read.

This book was so good. I don’t normally read books with a mystery or killer complex involved, but this book was really good. The narrator really brought the story to life. The writing was great and kept me on my toes at all times.

Our Wicked Lies is the first book I have read by Glede Browne Kabongo and it will not be my last. My genre of choice is always a good psychological or domestic thriller and I was really intrigued by the synopsis of Our Wicked Lies. It is honestly hard for me to verbalize how I feel about this novel. I feel as though it was slow to start and took a while to really pick up but simultaneously I didn’t want to put it down either. The writing was really strong, and even though I had a hard time connecting with some of the characters (especially Alicia) they were really realistic and to many, probably really relatable. Throughout the beginning half of the book I found myself wondering if I had missed something a time or two, but honestly it helped build up the suspense. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and this author’s style of writing and she evoked emotion when I was reading whether it be empathy or even frustration. I would give the book 4 stars and as mentioned before, definitely will keep an eye out and read more from this author.
Another intriguing read from this author and one that had me engaged from beginning to end. I find Red to be a really great character to read about, he has a great gut instinct when trying to solve the cases he is involved with and the author does a great job at making me as the reader feel like I am right there along Red trying to work out just what is going on. Blood Mug has a brilliant storyline that will keep you guessing until the very end. I definitely recommend this book and series to other readers!
Our Wicked Lies: A gripping psychological thriller by Glede Browne Kabongo is a psychological thriller. The story started off a little slow, and I thought about giving up, but it picked up and became quite the page turner. With deception and mystery, intrigue, and murder, secrets and lies exposed. The story is told from multiple POV’s which gives the story that much more depth.
You discover your perfect family was not so perfect after all and on your quest to find the truth you stumble on a deadly path.
This book knocked my socks off. I love psychological thrillers and this one is high on my list. The plotline is enthralling and kept me on the edge of my seat through the whole book. The characters are amazing. There are twists and turns throughout the pages. The attention to detail makes this book. Alicia has the perfect family or does she? You will have to read this book to find out what happens to Alicia and her perfect family.
Blood Mug by W.F. Ranew is the 4th book in the Red Farlow Mysteries series. These mysteries are wonderful to read because you really get to know P.I. Red Farlow through all the books. In this installment, Red is headed to Atlanta to meet with a chairman. When Red gets there, he finds that the chairman has been murdered – there is a dagger sticking out of his back. Through the investigation, Red finds more murder victims and starts working on figuring out the motive. It was really interesting to read about how Red shares about each victim and we get to know them. This is a great series! It does help to read them from the beginning to learn about Red Farlow and the way he thinks. I sure hope there are more books coming!
Blood Mug is the fourth novel in the Red Farlow series by W. F. Ranew. Red Farlow Mysteries are thought provoking, twisted, complex, evocative, paint pictures and intense. They are a delight and I look forward to reading each and every one of them. Such a classic way of not only writing it and reading it but by the way to weave an intriguing mystery. It’s almost like this author knows how to take their time to develop a gripping story you won’t soon forget. Arriving at a meeting in Atlanta, Red Farlow find the chairman with a dagger in his back. When others have a similar fate, it is time to investigate.

Wow where to begin with this book. This is definately a story that grips you from beginning and doesn’t let you go. It is full of twists and turns, ups and downs and secrets being revealed from every angle.
Alicia has the perfect life. A rich handsome husband, a house in a posh neighbourhood and 2 kids whom she adores. From the outside everything looks perfect. But looks can be deceiving.
Something is about to happy that will blow Alicia’s world apart and destroy everything she think she knows.
Who will survive the fallout? Why is it the people we least expect that hurt us the most?
This author sure knows how to put together a nonstop suspense. I was completely hooked from page one and just couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I’ve read from this author. Highly recommended.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming which made me want to keep reading to find out the ending. The author did a great job describing the characters and their relationships. I loved that she writes the story from multiple points of view as this just adds to the story in my opinion. I was drawn in from the beginning that it felt so realistic that and lifelike. Just what I like in a thriller.
I have thoroughly enjoyed these books and was excited to get my hands on the audio version of Safe Harbor. I love Logan and loved how the narrator brought her to life. From start to finish, just an excellent listen and one I couldn’t stop until I had finished the story. Highly recommended.

This was my first book by this author but it most certainly won’t be my last! I absolutely loved this book from start to finish and ended up reading it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down, I just had to get answers to all of my questions.
This author managed to pull me in right from the start, I was fully intrigued and remained that way until the very end. This story was incredibly captivating, detailed, intense, unexpected and really entertaining. I loved everything about this story and I cannot wait to read more by this phenomenal author.
If you are looking for a great thrilling read look no further this is the book for you!
Alicia and Eliot Gray have been married for twenty years, twenty years of marital bliss. At least that is what Alicia thinks. Eliot is a successful partner at a law firm in Boston. Alicia is the mother of his two beautiful children and a homemaker. Alicia volunteers at a women’s clinic in Boston three days a week. Her best friend, Katalina Torres Deluca, lives on her street but owns a successful marketing firm in Boston. They’ve been best friends for two years.
Everything seems perfect for Alicia and Eliot until the hidden lies start to unfold. Piece by shocking piece the story of the last fifteen years is unfolded wickedly by Gledé Brown Kabongo, and you won’t believe the truth when it is revealed.
This is the fourth book in the Red Farlow Mysteries series. This is a Crime novel and is 253 pages. This story follows the P.I., Red Farlow. Red heads to Atlanta for a meeting with a chairman, but when he arrives at the pottery studio, Red finds him dead from a stabbing. The killer used a medieval dagger. Our Wicked Lies is a suspenseful psychological thriller with lots of mystery, drama and edge. This was my first time reading the work of Glede Browne Kabongo, and I was pleasantly surprised. This story was engaging and pulled me in straight away. Full of danger, betrayal, lies and deceit, it was suspense on a knife’s edge. The story flowed and was very energetic. There was so many secrets, I was so addicted to finding out exactly how it all came together. This thriller was exceptionally well written and well thought out. It was evident that this was high quality literature. With meticulous detail, Our Wicked Lies is a captivating story that deserves all the accolades. 4 stars.
Safe Harbor: A Logan McKenna Mystery is the fifth book in the Logan McKenna series by Valerie Davisson. This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend you read the series in order. All of the books feature Logan McKenna, a smart, determined, and independent woman. The characters have grown as this series progresses. I was amazed by the descriptions of the Oregon Coast, it makes me want to visit.
Now let me tell you, this is a wonderful murder mystery. It had me up reading half the night just to see how it would end. I was surprised about the twists and turns, and it kept me guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book, series and author.
The narration of this book was wonderful. This is the first book I have listened to by Mary Ann Jacobs. She brought the characters to life and I felt a great connection.

Our Wicked Lies by Gledé Browne Kabongo. I LOVED this book. It’s one of the best books I’ve read this year. Its the story of Alicia Gray who knows she is living the storybook life with her Attorney husband and living in her affluent neighborhood. Eliot is a arrogant, stuck up, entitled man who thinks everyone should bow down to him. Alicia feels like there has to be more to him than what’s on the surface so when she starts snooping she finds a weird folder on his computer with hidden messages to a woman named Faith she is determined to get to the bottom of it. What Alicia finds is way more dark and demented than she ever believed. When someone is killed the mystery gets even deeper. Could this man that seems like the dream man that takes her on romantic trips and buys her all the gifts she wants be capable of these dark things? This book makes you realize that even people you think you know the best you sometimes don’t know at all. Read Our Wicked Lies to find out if Alicia survives the mystery.
Our Wicked Lies is one of the best domestic thrillers I have read to date. It grips you from the first page and does not let you go. It is one of the first books in a long time that when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. Just when you think the big twist has been revealed, even more happens to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. This novel is very well written! While there were many twists, the story still flowed nicely and nothing was forced or just thrown in for shock factor. Definitely recommend reading this if you love a great domestic thriller!

Naomi is a writer that lives at the edge of a cemetery that has graves dating back to the 1700s. Having recently started dating a man named Ryan, she is trying to start fresh after leaving her abusive boyfriend Nick. Even though she is happy in her relationship with Ryan she feels that the romantic part of their relationship is coming to an end. She meets a single father, Bryce, and his daughter and feels the attraction. What is she going to do? She doesn’t want to lose Ryan, but she can’t help the feelings she is developing for her neighbor. When she gets writers block she hopes that she may be able to find inspiration from a name out there in the cemetery, that’s when she comes across Maggie’s headstone. Her creative juices start flowing and words start flowing from her pen as she jots down ideas. Soon she starts to see apparitions of a woman in her home and wonders who she is and what she wants. This ghost wants her story told, but Naomi can’t quite figure out what the woman is trying to tell her. She starts to have dreams where she is seeing Maggie running being chased by someone, but she can’t quite see who it is. With her love life in tangles she decides to throw all of her efforts into finding out everything she can about Maggie’s death. It is Naomi’s goal to find out what truly happened to this young woman not only so she can get her story written, but also so the family gets the answers they have been seeking. She is also hoping that this will help Maggie get the peace that she deserves.
Just from looking at the cover of this book I thought I would be hearing about a woman that was running for her life from some sort of evil. I felt that the first couple of chapters were a little slow, but once I got past that I began to get into the story and truly enjoyed it. I thought I had this story figured out on several occasions, but then had to back track to look at it from a different angle. Everything made sense when it all came together in the end and I’m very glad I stuck with this book.

Maggie is a book I had the pleasure of reading when it was first released and when I saw it was out on audio I knew I had to listen to it, especially since I don’t have a lot of time to read books.
It had been a while since I had read it and I had forgotten some of the twists and events that happen and I think some of the events were enhances by Ms. Ember and her narrative. I really loved how Holly came across.
I enjoyed this as much this time as I did when I originally read it, maybe even a little more since the voice I heard wasn’t mine.
